Sound Stuttering in Windows 7 - Please Help

I hope you can help?! Ever since I bought my P6320UK HP Pavilion Desktop i have been having intermittent issues playing sound. The audio stops and starts and is distorted. I have gone down every available avenue, been in touch with HP, PC World and had the computer away for repair but still to no success. the computer has 6GB ram and lots of memory so playing sound shouldn't be an issue. My speakers (both monitor and separate powered speakers/subwoofer) are all working correctly.
Initially I had to have the memory replaced on the computer but the memory seems to be working fine now, it's just the sound that causes issues. I have Realtek HD Audio on the computer (and there is also an option for realtek digital output but i disabled this as i don't use this). I have monitor speakers and my own speaker/subwoofer as well, which i set up as a multi-channel set up.
i think that it may be to do with Windows 7 set up- as i notice a few other people have posted comments on windows 7 forums that it seems to be a windows 7 problem. it's nothing to do with the software as i've tried a system reboot and it doesn't make any difference to the sound.
I hope you can help - it would be much appreciated because it is very frustrating!

& Are you using DDLi've/DTS Interacti've encoding? I had some problems on and off with my PCI version only after going X58 in SLI, but one thing that helped for me was reducing sampling rate in Vista/Win7 sound properties to 44. kHz instead of 48 or 96 kHz. Most games are still 44. and apparently the clipping/stuttering can occur when the X-Fi tries upsampling.

I have this audio problem when i play music or anything at all on my computer, youtube.com etc...
The sounds tends to stutter when i play any kind of audio online. I own an HP Pavilion dv7 running windows 7.
Ive had this computer for a year and maybe 5 months now with the warranty now expired. This came on all of a sudden about 3-4 weeks ago. Also to let you know i am an onlline DJ and i do a 3 hour show once a week so you can imagine the frustration when im on the air.
About 2 months ago I added something to my computer called Virtual Audio Cables (VAC) which helps me to do on air interviews, this works perfect but i'm also wondering if it caused the problem? Hope not.
One more thing, I tried to download the new HP audio driver to hopefully fix the problem but when i did the sound stopped working. Please help! This has really been hard to figure out for a couple weeks now.

I don't know if this will help, but I compose/ record / produce music on my HP laptops, and to do so, there are a few things I do to get the PCs ready for their audio tasks.
First of all, no serious musician should be caught without an external USB/firewire soundcard / interface. (There are a lot of cheap and quite good choices out there.)
If you're using a WDM-compatible device, I suggest you grab ASIO4ALL (google) drivers. ASIO drivers have a much lower latency than the rest of audio drivers.
OS-wise there's a ton of tweaks you can try.
Create or edit a full throttle power scheme, with everything on all the time (no sleep, no hibernate...) set the min and max processor states to 100% and technically max out all the settings. Use this scheme whenever you have to work with audio.
Disable wireless devices if you can.
There's also a tool you can use to pinpoint if there's a driver or device interfering with the streaming of audio and video, called DPC Latency Checker, and you can find it here: http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml
Unfortunately you will have to manually disable /enable stuff in device manager to see what is causing the spikes, since the tool doesn't really tell you the cause but merely points out that you have a prob with one of your devices.
A few more things you could do is go to control panel>system>advanced system settings, click the advanced tab, and then click the settings in the performance section.
Set your preferences to "adjust for best perfomance"
Then go to the advanced tab, and try both adjust for best performance of BG services or Programs settings to see which works best for you.
Then, click on change in the virtual memory section, uncheck the auto button, click on custom size, and depending on your RAM, windows will give you a recommended allocated paging file size. This number will go in the Maximum size box.
For the initial one, you can type the currently allocated number or anything above the minimum allowed.
Click Set, then OK.
Again I use these settings on my recording and studio computers. (which i only connect to the net to update)

Do you get sound on any apps e.g. Music and Videos but not others ? If you do then have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. I'm not familiar with XP Home, you should be able to right click on the folder, and set the share permissions. You may have to turn off Simple Sharing to get access to this. Also you can set permissions on the folder as well. The share permissions I believe are Read, Write and Full Control. The NTFS should be able to set Read, Write, Modify, etc. Remember in Windows it will take the least privileged, meaning if you set the Share permissions to Read, and the NTFS to Write, you will only be able to read.

1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers
4. Enable it and set as Default

Can someone please help me with this no sounds issue. I've been trying to fix it for the last 3 hrs. until I've reached the point of wanting to hurt it. So I'm really hoping someone has had this problem before and knows what to do.
I've checked all of my settings. Everything to do with the ringtone sound as well as alerts, the sounds it makes when you send or recieve text.. Just non of the sounds at all work. Not even the clicking sound that the keyboard makes.
I've turned it off and back on after a min or two. I'm at my wits end.
I don't know what else to do. It's the iphone 3G.

Yes, I feel really stupid, but that's okay as long as it works now. I don't know when I did it, but that was it! I had at some point hit that switch and it never occurred to me at all to check that. In fact.. I really forgot it was even there.
If it didn't cost so much, phone would've met wall a hour and a half ago.

i got windows 7 but using a safari browser cause none of the other browsers work on my computer, and i have flash player 11 installed but thats just way to outdatet since most of the websites i use require a newer version. so i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this little problem of mine, i have tried all the things on adobes support site but nothing seems to help, please help me ?

Suggest you do the following.
Download the uninstaller from here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
Choose to Save and save it somewhere you can find it easily again. Do not choose Run.
Disable any AV shields like file scanners which kick into action as soon as you uninstall/install anything. If you're not sure how to do that, consult this list for instructions: Disable Antivirus
Run the uninstaller to remove Flash from your system. Be aware that it also uninstalls it from any other browsers you might be using such as Firefox, Opera etc., but not from Google Chrome.
Reboot, disable AV shields again and then go to the same site once more to download the installer: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550
When you see the prompt this time, choose Run to install immediately.
If you use Firefox, Opera or any other browser where Flash is a plugin, download the installer for those. Flash in Google Chrome is embedded and will auto-update, so no need to worry about that one.
N.B. If you use Windows Live Messenger or any app which uses Flash, disable it before you run both the uninstaller and the installer.

HI GUYS I HAD LOTSA MESSING WITH NO SOUND IN FLASH PLAYER 10.VIDEO AT FIRST THEN NOTHIN AT ALL.
THEN AFTER UNINSTALLING AND THEN RE INSTALLING ,ICHECKED AGAIN ,YET AGAIN NO VODEO /OR SOUND. I THEN WENT TO TOOL BAR,CLICKED ON TOOL OPTION AND CHECKED THAT FLASH PLAYER WAS ENABLED ,BELIEVE IT IT WAS NOT. I ENABLED FLAS PLAYER THEN WENT BACK ON YOU TUBE AND WOW __EE THERE IT WAS WORKING LIKE A REAL GOOD ONE

when i connect my earphone, i cannot distinguish between left and right sounds (which gives a plesant effect); both left and right sounds are same. Earlier it use to work fine. I realised about this problem when an app-3D audio illusion was was not giving proper sounds, and my ipod songs were also sounding dull. i hav removed that app, but still my ipod songs sound monotonous. I have tried using different headphones, but problem still persists. I am not sure wheather this is a hardware or software issue..PLEASE HELP!!

I unplugged my iphone from my computer and tried to call someone. It wouldn't make any sound; no ringing tone, nothing. So i tried to play a song, it acted like it was playing but no sound came out. i checked all the settings and nothing is turned off or muted. It won't vibrate either. i restored it three times both from the iphone and from the computer. I've restarted it countless times to no avail. i've plugged headphones, computer, and music dock in but nothing makes a sound. PLEASE HELP!

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. If these steps fail to fix the issue, you'll need to go to Apple for evaluation.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like the phone thinks it is still plugged into a dock connection but it is not.
I would first recommend, if you do have a dock connection, plug it in there and if it shows in iTunes eject it first, then unplug it. If it does not show in iTunes unplug it, and then reset the device with this process:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
That should get your iPhone working properly again.
