Sound trouble after import

After I import my video the sound on the clip is full of "static". If I do a fade in transition, that portion of the audio seems to fix itself, then, right back to static? I've tried extracting the audio but the problem remains. I've worked with iMovie for years and this is the first time I've had this problem. I am using iLife '06 now and can't seem to find a fix. I've imported various clips and the problem is still there. Can anyone help? Please? I hope so. Thanks in advance.

My camera is a bit old - 5 yrs or so but the audio sounds great through the preview window. So I doubt its the cable.....
I just tried Avid's Free DV and upon capture, it says audio is 32000KHz and not 48000KHz and adjusts settings for me. I imported a clip and it sounds fine so far on playback. I'd use this Avid program, but it's quite complicated. Can iMovie projects have different audio rates; I can't see any way to do that.....
I used to use Premiere 5 (on OS 9) and one of the project settings was audio rate and bit #. Such a thing in iMovie?

Preloader loads very late after importing sound files

ok, here's another preloader question for you people out
there. i finally had a working preloader code, everything was in
frame 2, my preloader was in frame 1, and it worked quite nice.
however, after importing some sound files to the library my
preloader started to appear very late on the stage (like after 90
percent). could someone tell me what can i do? i'm guessing it has
something to do with "export at first frame" option.

No sound after importing mpeg from imovie

Hello, i'm new to IMovie and i have the problem that all my video files made with my photocamera loose the sound when i import them into Imovie. the FAQ's tell me it is because they are in mpef-muxed structure. Can anybody help me with the solution on HOW to get my movies with sound into Imovie ???

I have exactly the same problem and took your advice, downloading MPEG stream clip. But it is not clear to me how to do this.
Previously I dragged the MPEG clips from iPhoto ( which played fine in QT with sound) into my iMovie and there was no sound ( as the OP describes).
So if you could spell out the exact procedure, I would be most grateful

Colours trouble with a psd file after import/export through Lightroom 4

I'm working with CS5, and I just bought LR4. I took a psd file (in Adobe 98 space) and I imported it in LR 4, and the exported as psd file in Adobe 98 colour space. Both files, the original one and the other after import/export, are quite different. The saturation of the res is not the same... When I repeat this experinece with a psd file in sRGB or in Prophoto, I have no difference betwwen both files.
I then conclude that LR doesn't recognize the adobe 98 pprofile of my psd file.
Is that normal, have you tried this experience, is there a bug in LR or a bug in the way, I proceed?

When you import there is an Advanced button in one of the dialogs. Click that and you will be able to Paginate against chosen styles. That will break your document into topics.

Cannot edit chapter names in iDVD after importing movie from iMovie

I have no trouble customizing iDVD (version 5.0.1) menu page after importing iMovie directly (instead of going to QT as interim step). But the names of the chapter markers are file names for video clips, title pages and transitions. The iMovie help says to change the names in the space next to the 'thumbnails' of chapters found in iDVD. THERE ARE NO THUMBNAILS. And there is no way I could find, using menu options or clicking on the chapter frames shown in 'map' mode to type in anything.
There are other problems, like getting rid of the default "Travel Cards' stuff...like I can drop a still photo in for a custom background, but the default 'celluloid design' banner still rolls up in previw mode. If you can also help with that, great. But the main thing right now is getting these chapter names change.

You are the third person who has taken a crack at this. I don't know if you read my last reply which detailed the situation. But if you did and the 'menu' you refer to is the main menu page, that is not the problem; I can change text there. I am talking about the submenu for 'Scene Selections', which I have only been able to access via map mode.
In map mode I cannot highlight the names. Period. Can't do it no matter where I place the cursor or carefully click.
In preview mode, when the Scene Selection sub-menu page appears whenever you drag the cursor over a chapter name it automatically highlights so any clicking will either do nothing (if a real careful click, trying to highlight text and not trigger off play of the movie chapter) or just start play for the movie chapter.
So...how does this newbie get to the 'menu' you mention where I can click on a chapter name in order to type new text?

depending upon your mouse, etc, it can be a little

Place the cursor at the very beginning of the word
you want to change. Click once .. this should hi-lite
the word. Click again, it should make the word go
blue (or in a blue box) then you can delete and
re-type.

Sb live 5.1 trouble after installing new ATI 9550 card... help

hi there !a couple of days ago my brave asus geforce 4 ti card crashed and i installed an ati excalibur 9550 se as backup. almost everything works fine, only winamp seems to make trouble: whenever i playback some music, it has lapses with buzzing sound (sorry, not a natural speaker so i don't know any fitting words). in the past i got the same effect when i was hearing music while starting to burn an cd/dvd but now it allways happens... anyone an idea what causes this error and how to fix it
I've got an asus p4b533 board and an soundblaster li've 5. ... since i also use my pc via tv card to watch tv, and the sound of this is absolutly without any errors, i suppose that it can't just be a defect soundcard or mainboard... anybody got the same trouble after installing a new grafic card ?thanks for your help,christian

Hello. I have the exact same problem and have not been able to fix it. I have a SB Li've with an Asus P4b Motherboard. I've tried many things (playing with Codecs, updating drivers, even returning the card back to the store thinking the problem was hardware). The second card did the samething. I also tried to change the card from its PCI slots (I've tried them all) but it's still creates weird noises when playing MP3s and MPEGs, whatever the slot. Hopefully, I have a sound card integrated to the motherboard, so I use this one instead, but it's not as powerful. When using the SB card, I make sure to deactivate the motherboard's sound card in the BIOS to avoid conflicts. Could anyone help ? I've had this card for a couple of years now and have never been able to use it.

5.1 sound in After Effects?

How do I import and export 5.1 sound in After Effects?
I have version 5.5.
The file will then be converted to a dcp file

The sound comes from an editor who is a pro and knows how to deliver 5.1.
I also have premiere ( 5.5 ) so I guess I can import the film and the audio in there and then export for a convert to DCP.
Or if I understand you right I can use a CDP processing software like

Sound problems after export media in premiere pro cs6

hello,
i recently started usining premiere c6 and after exported my project to mpeg-dvd i noticed that sound quality is reasonably lost, than exported sound separatedly without video to wav and result was the same bad. The imported sound source was really good, recorded in studio- wav 24 bit 48000. Before i used cs3 and never had such a sound problem after export video.

Timing appearance of PPT slideshow elements after importing to Captivate

I know that in Captivate I can import PPT slides along with
the animations (bullet points appearing one at a time, etc.), and
that if these are timed in PPT, the timing can be preserved on the
Captivate timeline after importing... However, do you have to time
the bullet points coming up while in PPT, or is there a way to
import PPT slides and then control the appearance of bullet points
or other objects within Captivate (to match up with audio narration
recorded outside of PPT, for example)?
What we are trying to achieve is to have Subject Matter
Experts create PPT slides and narration that will go along with
them, then record the narration and produce a narrated presentation
through Captivate that synchs the narration with the appearance of
visual elements in the PPTs.

Larry Walther described a method for controlling the timing
of animations in imported PowerPoint slides in this message. It
sounds as if you have a similar situation.

MP4 is Squashed after import

After importing an Mp4 file into Imovie, it squashes the image so it is taller than it is wide. The dimension of the file i'm importing is 768 by 572, and codec's are H.264 and AAC. The file plays fine in Quicktime. Is there any reason why I-movie is squashing the file?

Where are all the photos after import?

I don't know where to begin. iPhoto has gotten worse and worse over the years, but unfortunately I have tens of thousands of photos in it going back decades.
The tipping point for me was after photo streams and extra syncing was added to iOS 5. After importing to iPhoto I simply don't know where all my photos are anymore.
The import process itself is all funny. Sometimes it seems to just import the photo stream - which doesn't include videos.
Sometimes it will import everything if I press Import again, but the numbers don't match the numbers of photos on my iPhone.
If I check latest import it doesn't match what was just imported.
If I select to delete photos on my iPhone after import it deletes some but not all of them.
I don't have any confidence anymore that the photos imported. And organizing them - forget about it. It's the worse mess I've ever seen. I can't find anything anymore.
It definitely doesn't "just work."
I would like to clear out the photos on my iPhone 4 because the camera has gotten slow and I read somewhere that having too many photos in the camera roll can slow down the camera operation itself. Is that true? That would be sort of dumb if true because the only way of making albums directly on your iPhone is to leave the original photos in the camera roll.
Is there anything better than iPhone I can use to organize all my photos?

Well, I do like that Photostream syncs between my iPhone and iPad. What I don't understand is why the import into iPhone seems to sometimes have just Photostream events and then separately events sorted by date, but without the items that were imported into Photostream events.
Rather than turn off Photostream altogether, what would be nice is if I could just turn it off in iWeb. Is that possible?
I'm sorry my "finding and organizing" complaint sounds vague. It's hard to explain clearly because everything is so convoluted in iPhoto now.
Basically, it used to be that
(1) I could import and everything would be broken up into events by date;
(2) I could delete from my iPhone after import and everything would be deleted.
But (1) is not happening reliably. And neither is (2).
I just want to be able to organize my photos and find them. Even finding them in the current version of iPhoto got harder than it was in the previous version of iPhoto. It's just become a really confusing mess of a piece of software to use.
Right now the immediate problem, to attempt to be clearer, is that my imported photos and movies are not broken down by date-delimited events. The problem seems to be related to Photostream imports which confuse the normal event grouping process.

IPhone video with audio, but after import to iMac; no audio

I have an iPhone video I recored on my iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1.1. It plays just fine on the iPhone WITH sound just fine.
When I used Image Capture to bring it into my iMac OSX 10.9.2 the audio is silent. Quicktime Player shows an audio track, but when I play the video it is silent. Other movies play fine in Quicktime Player
Any ideas?

This seems crazy. The video is just Fine on my iPhone 5 iOS 7.1.1, but after import: no audio on Mac.

Dates Under Project After Import from Iphoto

Is anybody else having this bug?
After importing my library from iphoto, the dates shown under the projects are not showing a 'to' date!
They are ok when the project is on one date, and they show the 'from' date, but never a 'to' date!
Anybody else?

It sounds as though you may have imported the thumbnails but I can't imagine how.
It all depends on what you mean by very low quality.
Your iPhoto pictures will be around 4,000x3,000 pixels but when they are imported into a standard def timeline they will be around 720x540 which is a tremendous reduction.
They should still look OK but not as good as the brilliant hi-res originals.
