Pop the offending ones off the keyboard and clean them and any space underneath them with water on a q-tip or something similar.  If this is a laptop that may not be advisable though, as I found out, laptop keys are very difficult to get off and on again.  Nearly wrecked on key on my old laptop that way.

  • Which MSI TV card and sound troubles

    Hello all,
Hereby my first posting. Seems to be a lot of knowledge here on MSI TV-cards. I have a MSI Mega PC 180 with a TV card. I was wondering which TV-card this is, as it looks as the following: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/multimedia/mut/pro_mut_detail.php?UID=342, but it says in my configuration screen that it is a 8606. I have also mentioned that I would like to order the TV @nywhere card when I had purchased it. Can anybody tell me which card I have?
I'm asking this, because I have sound troubles with this card. I can receive TV channel images, but the sound does plok....plok....plok....plok.   So I would like to know if these beta drivers that are on this forum should help. I have tried them once, but with no success.
I do not use a sattelite receiver of VCR or anything. I'm connected through the dutch tv-cable network.
Does anybody know how to solve this?

Well, that is what it says in the Mega 180 manual, and one can hope that MSI is telling the truth.
So, go to the very top of this page, click on download and go get the latest drivers and MSIPVS for the 8606.
The card must be connected to your soundcard (even if integrated) either by the external line-out of the card to a line-in for the sound, or from the card's internal connector to one on the soundcard/mobo.
And the player (MSIPVS) must be told which input point you used (line-in, CD-in, Aux etc).

  • IPHONE 4 sound trouble

I just want to let IPHONE 4 users how I fixed a problem that even geniuses couldnt fix.
My iphone sudenly lost sound in the speaker, the ringer didnt work, notifications didnt work and I could not hear sound when I played a video on youtube, also no sound when I played music unless I plugged in earphones or a set of small speakers.
I tried all settings and nothing, I tried solutions on the trouble shooting advice from this section and still nothing and I saw posts of users with similar problems, tried hard reset, the 5 step suggestion and nothing worked.
Then after a complete reset of the iphone and sync of all apps etc nothing worked, then tonight my 12 year old girl asks to play on my iphone and
I say no audio ig you still want to play and then an epiphony, I asked hey remember when I tell you to mute the sound and she says yes sure and I asked if she just turned it off with the side slide button and she said most of the time but also that some of her games gave her a mute option so I asked her to go to her favorite game and see if she had left the sound off, well in the sync I had not chosen that game so she couldnt find it, we downloaded the game again and she turned the mut off and incredible SOUND started working, speaker was working, we called my iphone and it rang and key sounds were working and notifications as well, so it was the mute in the game that messed it all up.

    Try a reset:
    - hold the home button and sleep/wake button down at the same time
    - the iPhone will turn off(keep holding) but as soon as the Apple logo appears release both buttons

  • Loss of sound, trouble sharing

i have a macbook and am running imovie 4. never had problems before. actually used it very recently to do some videos.
now i'm working with video clips and imported still photos and i have extracted the audio. suddenly the audio is absent in the context of playing the whole 14:30 min movie. it works for selected clips, but not when i start at the beginning.
i'm having a hard time putting it onto dvd or back onto a camera, as well. the images are not smooth but jump all over the place as if it can't handle the size of the file, which doesn't make sense to me.
    help!

    Welcome to the forum, barbarellas!
Your description sounds like the stutter that occurs in iMovie 3 up when the project has lots of audio clips. There's a (long) description here, with workarounds:

  • Surround Sound Trouble

I have an amplifier which is capable of various surround sound arrangements, i.e. DTS and Prologic, and a Macbook connected to it via TosLink. I acquired an album with DTS audio and managed to encode the contents into 5.1 channel WAV files (L R C LFE Ls Rs) which work in Quicktime. Unfortunately, despite the fact that it recognizes that these channels exist, it plays them through my amp as stereo. However, I've been unsuccessful playing the audio in surround sound.
Audio MIDI Setup does not act as though my computer is capable of going beyond stereo audio. When I tell it to use Encoded Digital Audio as its output format, its System Output menu reverts to "None Selected" and does not allow me to change it. In addition, in the Configure Speakers pane, when I select Multichannel, the menu next to it where I select my speaker arrangement has 5.1 surround, 6.1 surround, etc. grayed out, leaving my only option as "stereo." I understand that programs such as DVD player can play surround sound by using output options separate from the system options, but for programs such as iTunes and Quicktime which don't have this option how do I play 5.1 audio?
As a side note, iTunes refuses to add the files to its library. Is there another multichannel audio format which iTunes accepts, and if so how do I convert the WAVs or DTS files to it? It isn't essential that I am able to use iTunes, but I am very keen on Front Row.
    Thanks for reading!
2 GHz Macbook Core Duo (White)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1 GB RAM

So you have a DTS audio DVD.
You say you've "encode the contents into 5.1 wav files which work in QT".
How did you manage to decode the DTS stream into WAV files?
How many QT files do you have?
What you should do is to let your receiver do the decoding of the DTS stream, and just get your Macbook to send that stream to the receiver via whatever TosLink adaptor you already have.
iTunes is ONLY stereo, so if you have a multichannel WAV file, it won't read it. Also, I'm sure there are restrictions on bit depth, so if you have 24 bit WAV files, I'm guessing that also won't work in iTunes.

  • I'm having sound trouble on my iPod 4

I am on vacation and a few days ago my volume stopped working while I was watching a YouTube video. So I checked my sound settings and everything was working correctly. So I tried using my volume buttons and it didn't change anything it just said "Sound effects" and nothing happen so I turned my iPod off and let it set there for 5 minutes.I turned it back on and it said the same thing. So I left it on and went out for 3-5 hours and when I came back the volume started  working just fine.So I got on pandora and started listening to music and then I moved to sit down on my bed and my sound turned off on me.Nothing changed in my settings and my wifi hasn't changed I have three bars so I don't know what's causing this problem or why my iPod is doing this. Please help!

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
      - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a hardware problem.

  • P205D-S7802 Sound troubles in XP

For various reasons I had to downgrade from vista to xp a few months ago on my P205D-S7802, and have not been able to use sound since.  The system says no sound card is installed.  I don't recall everything I went through installing xp a few months ago, so I don't know exactly what is/isn't installed.  If someone could help me find the driver for whatever sound card/chip my system uses, and one in XP, since it is only listed for vista on toshiba's site, assuming one exists for xp, it would be greatly appreciated.

I might have a solution. My A505-6960 was 1 day old and the sound stopped working. I scoured the internet and this forum for a solution but found nothing that permanently fixed my problem. I tried reloading the sound drivers and it only worked intermittently.
I found 1 mention somewhere else about a Windows Vista issue with the Sleep Mode on some other manufactures laptop forum. Seems several other manufactures have had the same problems and complaints from their customers. Some have come up with patches to fix the conflict. It seems Toshiba has not yet done so with their products.
My solution was to change my settings on my laptop to Hibernate Mode and made sure it was not set ANYWHERE on Sleep Mode. This includes when you close the cover, when you leave the laptop idle, or click any buttons. Do NOT use Sleep Mode for ANY settings.
It's been several weeks and my sound is back and I have not lost it since I changed my laptop settings. If it doesn't come back after you change your settings. Turn off the computer for at least an hour or overnight if you can before restarting. Before the setting change, I found if I turned off my laptop for a while the sound came back mysteriously. I now know when it went in to Sleep Mode, the sound stopped working.
I hope this works for you and anyone else scouring the internet and this forum for an answer.

  • Sound Troubles

I have alsa, and pulseaudio installed, I have sound, but it is not working correctly. If I boot my laptop without the headphones plugged in, then I have sound from the speakers, but when I plug in my headphones, I still have sound from the speakers, but no sound from the headphones. If I boot my laptop with the headphones plugged in, then I have sound from the headphones, but when I unplug in my headphones, I have no sound from the speakers, but plug the headphones back in and I have sound from the headphones. I have arch installed on an Alienware M14X R2, Intel C210 audio, output of pgrep -af pulseaudio  is "583 /usr/bin/pulseaudio --start --log-target=syslog". I am using fluxbox and starting X with /.xinitrc "startx" command.
This is a fresh install, as I had lots of crap that I wanted to get rid of, and sound was working fine before. I also have pavucontrol installed, and have checked alsamixer to make sure all outputs are not muted. Any thoughts or advice will be greatly appreciated.

    More info, when I run:
    cat /proc/asound/card*/codec* | grep Codec
    The output is:
    Codec: Creative CA0132
    Codec: Intel PantherPoint HDMI
    Codec: Nvidia GPU 42 HDMI/DP
I found this in my search, it's some slackware info, but describes what I am going through:
    http://docs.slackware.com/howtos:hardwa … -hda-intel
From what I have read about Creative, I may just be screwed, but most of the post I am finding is 2 or more years old.
I am just baffled by the fact that just last week the sound was working, and I decided to clean house and do a fresh install, and now it is not.
I would like to add that when I run lspci, there is no mention of a Creative sound device.

  • Rca surround sound trouble

i recently just bought  my surround sound system everything works fine except when i play one game. movies the tv and other games will work. when i play that one game the sound cuts in and out. does anyone know why that is?

Since it is only the one game, I would highly suspect that the game is either not encoded in surround, or is encoded using a codec that your decoder doesnt support..

  • Sound trouble after import

After I import my video the sound on the clip is full of "static". If I do a fade in transition, that portion of the audio seems to fix itself, then, right back to static? I've tried extracting the audio but the problem remains. I've worked with iMovie for years and this is the first time I've had this problem. I am using iLife '06 now and can't seem to find a fix. I've imported various clips and the problem is still there. Can anyone help? Please? I hope so. Thanks in advance.

My camera is a bit old - 5 yrs or so but the audio sounds great through the preview window. So I doubt its the cable.....
I just tried Avid's Free DV and upon capture, it says audio is 32000KHz and not 48000KHz and adjusts settings for me. I imported a clip and it sounds fine so far on playback. I'd use this Avid program, but it's quite complicated. Can iMovie projects have different audio rates; I can't see any way to do that.....
I used to use Premiere 5 (on OS 9) and one of the project settings was audio rate and bit #. Such a thing in iMovie?

  • IPhone 3GS Sound trouble

i've just spent a fair amount of money on this new iphone 3gs that i purchased 5 days ago..yesterday i was playing a few songs through the speakers on it, not with headphones. then all of a sudden it just stops playing.. my speakers stopped working, i tried ringing my iphone off my house phone to see if that worked, but no sound. then about 2 hours later it started working again?
i thought ok.. maybe something went wrong. But then today it happened again?
Could there be a default in my speakers or something?
    please help
    Thanks jack

...same problem here: brandnew 3GS, and it regularly stops playing all sounds. I checked the headphone socket, knowing this is a common problem, but not in this case. resetting the iphone doesn't help either, a complete restore brings the sound back, but only temporarily. A few times it stopped the sound, when I changed the email-display-settings, and two times while videorecording. Does anybody have a clue, what software-issue could be the problem, or how to prevent the reoccuring complete loss of sound ? Having to make a restore to get the sound back is a bit of a pain...

  • E52: sound trouble during calls

    Hi there,
I asked for an answer in one of the older threads a pretty long time, but didn't get a reply. I also searched through some other discussions, but couldn't find a definite solution.
My problem is the infamous "echoing" during calls. Specifically, people who call me hear an echo during phone calls. Somebody told me that it almost sounds like they're on speaker phone. It's a real pain in the **bleep**, because things often have to be repeated a number of times in order for it to be understood. So have can I fix this?
I'm using the 034.001 software version.

I use to have that issue also with older firmware's, but now with 034.001 IM fine, also I was OK with earlier firmware. Try hard formation the phone *#7370#
