Sound turns off

After watching a Clip from Youtube on my tv the Sound from watchever or Other Apps doesnt work anymore. Is it a Problem from my Apple TV or from my Television ?

  • When the sound turns off on my macbook, the miniplug stereo port emits a wildly uncontroled load leading to noise.

When the sound turns off on my macbook and my macbook pro, the miniplug stereo port emits a an enormous 'pop', i.e. wildly uncontroled load leading to noise. Goundline hum follows. I am running OS 10.6.6. I have noted previous threads noting the same problem on OS 10.4.x and 10.5.
How do I stop my mac from trying to ruin my stereo and speakers every time I connect them?

You don't say which year you have, however...
...there are known problems with the mid-2010 models (see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) as well as early and late 15" 2011 models (see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4766577?tstart=0).
Apple has taken ownership of the problems with the 2010 model but, unfortunately, the free logic board replacement for that model has probably long expired for you - three years after date of purchase.
One the 2011 models Apple has admitted no defect. You'll just have to skim the articles to get an overview of the problems that people are having (usually showing up as screen glitches at first and then going downhill from there).
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • My nephew put the Hallmark Channel on my computer and I can not get the sound turned off.

My nephew put the Hallmark Channel on my computer and I cannot get the sound turned off.

Is this a separate application? Where did your nephew install it? If you do a force quit (command - option - esc) does it show up so you can force quit it?

They're dated 2004-5-4, which I assume means May 4. There is no change in the sound problem. I have a Creative SoundBlaster Live Value card with line in jack. The sound is fine for the first 60-90 seconds of either live view or recording, then it snaps off and stays off. It's the same whether I'm using MSI PVS or WinDVD Creator as the capture software, so I'm pretty sure it's the driver.
However,  I'm not sure how to make sure the new driver was the one which WinXP Home installed. Before running the setup.exe that came with the new driver, I ran Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel and removed the USB Audio/Video Device Driver item that represents this device driver. After rebooting, I ran the setup for the new driver I just downloaded. After rebooting again with the MSI VOX2.0 card unplugged, I plugged it in and Windows "found new hardware" and offered to search for a driver for it. I allowed that to go forward and got a warning from Windows that the driver was not signed or approved. I allowed it to install anyway, but there is still the same problem. I don't know how to verify that the new driver was the one picked and installed by Windows, or if it could be still the original one that was on the install CD supplied with the MSI VOX2.0.
I noticed that a no-audio problem was mentioned as fixed in the ReleaseNote.txt file included in the msipvs_8609.zip file, but I'm not sure they're talking about the same no sound after the first minute problem.
I can't find anything else about this anywhere.
Anybody solve this problem yet or have an idea where to find help?
Yes I think I found the problem. It seems that only laptop users have this problem. I also had this problem with the vox connected on my laptop. Sound simply switches off after about 30 seconds. Reading the forum I found out that the problem only appears with laptop users. I tried it on my desktop pc and the problem disappeared.
The problem can be solved by disconnecting all other usb devices that draw current from the usb port. I did this and since then the vox is working correctly for hours now. It is a pitty that we are not helped by MSI. I would expect that they know how much current the vox draws and that it is critical.

  • My sound turns off and on

The sound/volume on my iPad turns off &on unexpectedly...mostly off. Please help. Also, I can't turn iPad off! I just noticed this today. I turn it off & it automatically turns back on!

    Hey Sharrice!
I actually experienced the same problem with my iPhone 3GS even though I set it to silent it automatically set it off of silent,
This is what I did to combat that problem,
    Go into:
Settings > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > On
And click on that little box and go to:
    Device > Mute
To unmute or more cohesiveness just go to:
Settings > Accessibility > Triple Click Home
And select Assistive Touch, this will enable that little box every single time you click the home button 3 times and will also turn it off when you click it 3 times!
    Hope it helped!

  • Sound turns off when listening to misuch thtough earphones

My phone turn off the sound randomly when listening to Spotify with earphones. Have tested different volumes, but happens regardless of which volume it is. It is extremenly annoying, has anyone experienced this as well?

Just to clarify, does this only happen when using Spotify or does it impact other applications like Walkman too?

  • Calendar Alerts Ring When Sounds Turned Off

My iPhone will sound a calendar alert even when all the sounds under settings are turned off. Has anyone else experienced this, and if do is there a way to stop this?

That would work, however I would like the phone to ring for an alarm (but not when I silence the calendar alerts). You would think that turning off the sounds for a calendar alert would keep the phone from sounding the calendar alert...not the case.

  • IPhone 5 sounds turn off

Has anyone else experienced an issue with the iPhone 5 where all the sounds , including alerts and ringtones, shut themselves off ? It seems as though one of the triggers is if you set an alarm or timer and when it the alarm sounds , you silence it ... all sounds also turn off . The only way to get them back is to restart the phone . Am I alone in this ?

    Turn your phone off.

  • Bug or feature: Audio from videos can still play with sound turned off

I've just noticed that with the sound switch turned off (i.e., red dot showing), if I play a video and slide the volume bar to the right for the video, the audio plays on the iPhone speaker. I thought the hardware sound switch was a "master" switch which would kill all sound on the iPhone, except, of course, for headphones.

That switch is GENERALLY for the phone functions. Other apps may or may not respond to it depending on how they have been written.

  • Sound turns off randomly

I just got my new iphone5. I notice that every once in a while the sound just randomly turns off. The volume is all the way up and I've checked all of the obvious solutions. Any ideas?

I have the same problem with the latest iOS..

  • September 2011 MacBookAir4,2 1.7 GHz White noise even when sound turned off

Since new this MacAir has had a white noise like a tv not tuned in even when sound is off. Gets worse as it gets warmer. Seems to be getting worse then ever.(summer). Usually connected to a Thunderbolt Display and makes noise only when display is attached. Disconnect the display and the noise goes quite after a few minutes till display is again attached.
    Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)
I think it is the Cooling Fans making the noise and the Thunderbolt connector gets hot after a few minutes.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Try checking the hard disk for errors just in case.
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
Insert your Mac OS X Install disc in your computer’s optical drive or an optical drive connected to your computer, and then restart your computer. When you hear the startup tone, hold down the C key until you see the progress indicator, which looks like a spinning gear.
Follow the onscreen instructions until the menu bar appears with the Utilities menu in it, choose Utilities > Disk Utility, click First Aid, and then click Verify. Of Disk Utility reports errors, click Repair. When it's finished, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Disk. In the Startup Disk window select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.
Also, while you have Disk Utility open, Repair Disk Permissions, reboot and see if the sound anomaly still exists.

  • Sound turns off anytime I turn off my Q10

So ever since I have had my phone for a month now, anytime I turn it off and turn it back on, I have to remember to go into settings and notifications to turn my normal profile sound back on! Because it just says off on its own. And of course most of the time i don't remember so my phone is making no sounds until I figure it out. I also find i am missing many notification sounds, so if I am working on an email and receive a bbm, i don't hear notification.

    Hi tonsojunkmail,
Just to clarify, when you turn your BlackBerry Q10 off, the notifications are enabled, however, when you turn it back on, they are disabled?
What version of BlackBerry 10 OS are you currently using?
    Thanks.
