My iPad does not have sound when on the Internet, including YouTube, but does have sound with iTunes and other apps.  How can I correct this?

If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • No sound with itunes? why?

i have no sound with itunes but other programs i do have sound. why and how do i fix it???

    hi nike!
    here's the catch.
This is on my work station that has windows 2003 installed.
    I am running i-tunes 6.0.4.2
the first thing i usually try on a "no sound" with 6.0.4.2 is a careful standalone QT reinstall.
but there's a new issue afoot where people with x64 versions of Windows (XP or Server) who have Windows Update KB908531 installed can't do a QT 7.1 or 7.0.4 reinstall without erroring out with an 0x80040707.
    here's a Server thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=2344175
... and here's an XP thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=2353161
so what i don't want to do is to take you from a "no sound in itunes" to a "no functional QT or itunes on the PC".
so, before we proceed, could you check for me if you've got an x64 version of Server, or a more standard one?
i'm not precisely sure how you go about checking on that one. so if you can't tell from this technique:
How to find which version of Windows is installed on your Windows PC
... can you check in with your IT people about what version is running on your workstation?
    love, b

  • No sound with iTunes 7

I, too, have NO sound at all now after upgrading to iTunes 7. Not just in iTunes - I can't listen to anything on my computer. From websites, CDs, nothing.
What happened? Is there some setting that I have to change?

there is, for before there was this problem too, and i fixed it somehow, but i can't do it again, so now only some of my speakers work, but i will tell you that changing any other seting besides itunes won't help.
So maybe try to fiddle with itunes settings but thats all i can do, im still tring to figure out how to fix it.

  • No sound with iTunes HD TV Show with Dolby surround

I bought my first HD Tv Show in the iTunes store. 24 season 7 episode 1 if it matters. When I play the show in iTunes and select the Dolby track, I get no sound at all. If I select the stereo track, I get stereo sound. But that's obviously not what I want.
My setup: a MacMini with the optical-out connection to a home theater amp.
If I listen to a .avi file with AC3 audio in QuickTime or FrontRow, with the help of the Perian plugin, it works fine with the Dolby surround sound. So it's an issue specific to iTunes HD content.
I tried uninstalling this Perian plugin, I played with the settings in the "Audio Midi setup", nothing helps, I still get no sound with the iTunes TV show.
Is there something wrong on my computer or it is a known issue?

I've got the same issue. DVD Player and Perian/VLC are able to output 5.1 over an optical cord to my receiver for DVDs and other files, but not for iTunes HD downloads (neither iTunes nor QuickTime can do this, even with Perian.)

  • Black screen and no sound with iTunes rentals.

I was going to chalk this up to just a corrupt download, but it's happening too much for mere coincidence now. I rented Captain America: The First Avenger in HD on my Windows 7 machine, only to find that when I tried to play it, I got nothing more than a black screen with no sound. I chalked it up to bad luck and went back to my day, only a few days later, I tried again, only to find the exact same problem had occurred with the exact same movie. I called Apple Support and told them of the problem, and while they refunded my purchases (and gave me 3 free movie rentals), they proposed no solution.
So I tried renting Iron Man 3 today, and the same thing happened. This doesn't occur with any other movies that I own trying to play in iTunes, just with rentals. I've already tried a reinstall, which did nothing, and I'm out of ideas.
    Any assistance is appreciated.

Yeah! Problem solved: It's a QT issue.
Cause: Mac Update Software downloaded a faulty QT.
Solution: Download QT from Apple's QT site.
Great to have the Video back

  • Crackling Sound with Itunes

After giving up with pci-e extreme audio because of latency issues, I bought the pci-e fatalty pro pci-e. One of the problem is, there is a crackling issue when i stop and play another playlist in Itunes. You can fix it by changing modes.(i.e from entertainment mode to audio creation mode) but then again after you change playlists, it does it again.

I am unsure if this will help you or not. Itunes has an add-in setting which in my opinion only, may be similar to our using CMSS3d with our cards, etc.
Disable the Sound Enhancer feature in iTunes:
    1. Open iTunes.
    2. One the Edit menu, click Preferences.
    3. Click the Playback tab.
    4. Deselect Sound Enhancer.
and now see if you get the same crackles pops or sound playback problems. I disabled that setting on mine from the beginning, but hopefully you can toggle that setting and see if that helps you.

  • For all those with no sound with ITunes 7.0

I'm just going to post what happened to me. After installing iTunes 7, I could not play any music...the progress bar would sit there, and eventually I would hear a weird sound coming from the speakers.
I opened up the QuickTime control panel, and went to the Audio tab. I set the rate to 192 Khz (from 44.1) and left Size=16. After applying, I could play all of my music.
Don't ask me why. I just hope it works for others.

I have a WinXP PC and a Linksys G class router. I am on Comcast broadband cable. Both ATV and PC are on wireless link. And I have tried a borrowed Apple Airport router (G class). That didn't help resolve this problem so far. I don't think it is a router issue as you will see that many folks on this forum have the same problem with a wide mix of environments. Many of them are on pure Apple components and so one cannot blame Microsoft and non-Apple devices.
Having said this, I hope the new router resolves your issues. In my case, the only option left is to keep calling Apple Care.

  • No sound with iTunes 12.1

I installed iTunes 12.1 and it shows the song playing however there is no sound. I have an iMac with Yosemite 10.10. I tried to reinstall it but that made no difference. I am a novice when it comes to computers. Any suggestions?

I had this issue. My desktop's sound was working, and I could hear videos I played on it. But not iTunes. And the volume measure on iTunes was not down and "off" but right in the middle. So why no sound?
There is the little "display" symbol in iTunes. It's important to click on the one in iTunes, as I kept clicking on the one on the main menu at the top right corner of my computer and that wasn't helpful.
When I finally clicked on the one in iTunes it let me know that the sound was on "single" and supposed to be coming through exterior speakers only. These, clearly, weren't on as I was getting nothing out of them. I changed over to "multiple," and was offered choices of where the sound should issue. One was "computer." I and ticked that off and set the volume. And that's how I got my sound back on iTunes through my computer.

  • No speaker sound with itunes and media

The speakers on iphone 4S work fine for all activities with the exception of itunes and video. Speaker phone works; notification works; ringer works. Everything works fine with the earplugs and bluetooth and volume can be adjusted. Speaker works just fine with calls, recordings etc. Just not with music and video apps. Any thoughts?

  • How to get Surround Sound to work With Itunes 7 and Stop Skipping

A common problem for surround sound with itunes 7 appears to come from Creative sound cards. The way to fix this problem is to right click on the volume icon in the taskbar and open the EAX Console. Open the CMSS 3D tab and check the box that says Enable CMSS 3D and set both CMSS and CMSS2 to 0% in the stereo focus slider. It should work. Remember to have the volume slider in itunes at 100%.
If that doesn't work then open the quicktime preferences in the controlpanel/quicktime. Then go to the audio tab, uncheck the safe mode box. Set the rate to 64 kHz and the size to 16 bit. Then set the channels to 5.1
This should all make it work, after hours of struggling i've found these successful settings and am loving it!
For those of you who have sound skipping during transitions----
Go to the preferences of Itunes and go to the Playback tab, disable the crossfading between songs and you should play skip free!!!!

  • Can't burn with iTunes 8.2 or 9.0-- songs sound fuzzy

Recently, when i bought my iPod Touch, I was instructed to update to iTunes 8.2; upon doing so, I found I could no longer burn CDs; the songs all sounded fuzzy. Today, I updated to iTunes 9.0, and the same thing happened: the songs all sounded fuzzy on the burned CD.
    Other things you should know:
    (1) I tried to burn a CD using Windows Media Player; those songs sound fine. Thus, I have reasonable assurance the problem is with iTunes.
    (2) For some reason, I have no problem burning CDs with my laptop (which I also updated to iTunes 8.2).
Can someone help me out with this? (And please don't say to download it again. I downloaded 8.2 twice and now 9.0 once, and nothing has improved.)
Thank you for your anticipated assistance.
    MRD

Fuzz or static on iTunes-burned audio CDs can often be corrected by burning at a lower speed, such as 2x.

  • IMac 10.6.8, Snow Leopard with iTunes 11.0.1. loss of wifi speed when connecting a Bose Sound System via bluetooth

Hello, I have an iMac 10.6.8, Snow Leopard with iTunes 11.0.1. When connecting my Bose Sound System via bluetooth the wifi downloadspeed goes from snappy to a crawl, disconnecting the bluetooth connection, the downloadspeed goes up again. Don't have this problems with the Sound System when connecting it to my iPad. I like to mention too, that the downloadspeed of my iPad is always better than of my iMac. Are there any experiences concerning this problem? Thank you in advance.

    UPDATE - PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!
You can thank me later - after an hour on the phone, I finally got through to a Senior Engineer.
Apperently the issues lies with GRID VIEW.
Open your Itunes, Click on TV SHOWS, then quickly change your view from GRID VIEW (Defaults to this) to List View and Viola!
We tested it out on the phone just minutes ago, my problem is solved and I suspect if you guys try this yours will be too.
