i am gone buy a shuttle xpc with 2 pci-express slots. one for graphics and one for a tv-, sound- or anothercard. now i have a audigy 2 for pci, so i couldnt it with the new xpc. FOR THE NEW PC's AUDIGY SOUNDCARDS FOR PCI-EXPRESS ARE NEEDED!! when do they come out?

You have to install the rest of the software(s) for the sound card. The software is (if it is with the installation CD, though) called "Creative Smart Recorder" or something like that.

Need Urgent Help : Using VIVADO Design Suite for PCI Express 3.0, 8 lane, and AXI Interfaces for Video Processing

My scenario is as follows :-
1) I am building a Image Processing Application and using VIVADO HLS for that.
2) I have synthesized my design using VIVADO HLS, and export it as IP-XACT format.
3) I have imported it in VIVADO Design Suite, and added to the IP catalog, in a new project created.
4) Since I am building an image processing pipeline, I am using AXI Stream interfaces, 1 input stream, and 1 output stream, and mentioned that in the HLS tool itself..
5) I have a Virtex 7 690T FPGA, and have accordingly chosen the board throughout the HLS process, and the project.
6) We want to use a PCI Express 3.0, through DMA access to the CPU.
7) Now I am stuck here regarding how to proceed forward, I have gone through most of the Xilinx documentation, but am still not clear about what to do from here on.
8) There are these 3 variables for me, AXI Stream Interface, DMA, PCI Express 3.0, all I have right now is the IP of the Image Processing pipeline that I generated through VIVADO HLS.
9) Also at a later stage we would like to stream in Video, and process it through our image processing pipeline.
Please help me with an overview of steps that I need to follow to get my design together and working on a real FPGA hardware with my Computer(windows OS), as in what Xilinx IP blocks do I need to use, how will I be able to exploit the maximum bandwidth from the PCI Express Interface in my specific case of send image through a stream, what tools will I need to use at every stage.
I would be highly grateful if you guys can help me, we have a dealine to meet.
Please let me know if we need any extra information.

S/PDIF options for PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card non-existant!

Hey guys, I've been searching around for this for a while now and I still come up with anything...
I currently have a PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio sound card installed in my PC, and this cound card has a built-in optical output port. I have been trying to set the sound card to use this port and I still can not find anyway around it.
I have searched the support pages and they always go back and say that I can enable audio on that port using the Digital I/O icon in the media console (I'm in Entertainment mode btw, doesn't seem like I can change that). However, I don't have that icon present in my media console. I tried upgrading drivers, updating software but still to no avail
So right now i'm running Windows XP (32-bit) and what seem to be the latest software and drivers for this card, and none of this is making any sense to me and so I believe that I am going mad!
I am honestly starting to believe that the port is just there for decoration...

This seems to be a fairly common issue across out in the market.
Do you not think it would be worth while chasing this down internal to Creative and sharing the solution with everyone?
Pointing us one at a time to support for what should be readily available drivers doesn't make a lot of sense.

Will NI Offer CANbus card for PCI Express

This is really a question for marketing. Will NI offer a CANBus interface for the upcoming PCI Express slot, (or Expresscard slot) that is supposed to replace PCI and PCIMICA on future PCs? If so, when? If not - a USB to CANBus instead?

What exactly is PCI Express?

Im kind of tech savvy, but havent heard of PCI express until someone mentioned it on a thread. Do i need a new motherboard when it comes, is it faster than normal PCI, i also heard it replaces AGP cards(that true?). Any info would be great.

Most of the PCI ports are actually running at 33MHz.
They are 32bits bus at 33MHz, so they have 133MBytes/s bandwidth.
You then have 64 bits PCI, that doubles the BW. (usually found only on server boards)
You have PCI-X, that can run up to 133MHz (32 or 64 bits), but it is usually reserved for server also.
AGP is a special purpose bus that runs at 66MHz, with several transactions per clock (hence the x2, x4, x8).
PCI Express, formerly known as 3GIO (3rd generation Input/Output), is the next step. It is a serial interface (like SATA, USB, Firewire, hypertransport...) that runs at very high frequency.
PCI-Express will slowly replace the other interface (it is designed to be backward compatible with PCI, adding a smal supplementary connector), starting probably around Fall this year. However, very few peripherals require this kind of bandwidth (graphic card, Gb Ethernet...), so PCI will be around for quite some time. If history is proof, you can STILL find PCI graphic cards and ISA took YEARS to be taken off the motherboards... So, yes, the future graphic cards will probably be released for PCI-Express, but an AGP version will most probably be there too for some time (until it does not make sense anymore for economic and/or performance reasons).
Oh, and a last point to relativise those GHz talk for PCI-Express speed. SATA, at 150MBytes/s uses a 1.2GHz+ transfer speed. Designers are slowly shifting all the // buses to high speed serial.

The NVIDIA should work with the PCI-E 1.1 bus that your PC has in it. You might want to search this forum for NVIDIA 650 compatibility issues.

PCI Express Expansion Slots

I noticed that the Mac Pro offers 3 extra expansions slots for PCI Express graphics cards. How is it possible to SLI three graphics cards with no nForce MCP? Are the other slots even usable and how can you combine four graphics cards with no Crossfire or SLI?

SLI and Crossfire are not supported at this time.
The possibility to run more monitors is there with the extra slots, but not to combine video cards for faster frame rates on a one monitor.
It's not Apple's fault, it's the limited capabilities in the Xeon chipset supposedly, not all slots can be 16x. A pair can be 8x though.

Ok, so now I need a new eSATA PCI Express Card for my Mac Pro

I have a Seagate eSata External Drive which comes with an eSATA PCI card.

I think the Radeon 9800 is certainly the most powerful graphics card you could buy for your G4 and would do everything you need.
Just be aware there are at least 3 different Mac versions though.
There's a G5 version, the Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Special Edition, which is 8X AGP and has 256MB VRAM.
There's an older Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition, which is 2X/4X AGP and has 128MB VRAM.
Finally there's a newer Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition, which is 2X/4X AGP and has 256MB VRAM.
So long as you get one of the 2X/4X AGP versions, either with 128MB or 256MB VRAM, it should work fine.
It's perhaps also worthwhile mentioning they do require a separate internal power connection, although this can be taken from a hard drive molex power connector. Also they have a cooling fan which can be noisy.

Can I use pcie express 2 slot for fx soundblaster. There are no small pcie slots on my H87M Pro4 asrock motherboard. I have a GTX760 Nvidea video in the first slot which is a pcie express 3. Also have an empty pcie express 2 full size slot available.

PCI Express Power Cable for ATI X1900 XT

I was given a X1900 ATI but the card didn't come with the power cord (booster cable) that connects to the motherboard. I'd like to order one but have no idea what I need to get. I know it's a 6 pin to 6 pin connection but that's it. Anyone would know where I could find the right info? I tried ATI/AMD but they only show the old power cable (4 pin inline).

and the other end of it does it fit any standard pc vid card? or is it also smaller?

Can Any one please help me find a compatible Wireless N MINI PCI Express Card for my HP G50-133us?

I have a HP G50-133US notebook, it currently has a Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter. I am looking to upgrade it to a B/G/NWiFi Card. I can find plenty of Mini Pci-Express Wireless N cards but not sure if they are compatible. Does anyone know if as long as it is Mini PCI-Express and have the correct drivers this would work? Or does anyone know if a known working upgrade that would work? Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you!.

You MUST get an HP branded wi-fi card AND it has to be on the "white list" for your computer in the BIOS or the card will block the computer from booting with an error message. Here is a link to your Manual:

You can search eBay by part number for the card and likely find one at a decent price.

Welcome and you choose well, except in your video card. The 6600 is hopeless in Aperture if your running a medium-large library.
Apple seems to run a monopoly on the video card side. Each card needs Apple specific firmware on it to work. So no PC cards don't work without modifications. Speaking of which some people apparently figured this out. Check this and the Aperture forums for more detail of a possible 3rd party option.

Sound Blaster PCI Express - No option for AUDIO CREATION mode.

I need help. ?I purchased another computer from Dell, with a Sound Blaster board just as I have done with three other computers. ?This makes four.
I ordered it with the Sound Blaster board because of the THREE MODES, Entertainment Mode, Gaming Mode, and Audio Creation Mode. ?The Audio Creation mode is really what I want because it allows to add reverb.
So when I get this latest Dell with the Sound Blaster card it is a
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express
The Volume control does not show the three modes. GAMING, ENTERTAINMENT, and AUDIO Creation. ?It only shows the ENTERTAINMENT mode.
So I thought perhaps those were enhancements that had to be installed from the Creative Sound Blaster CD that Dell provides. ?I put the CD in the dri've, and it goes into install mode and then when you start the install it says do you want to add additional software to which I answer YES.
Then it says install your CD in the CD dri've, which of course it is already in there. ?The CD looks funky. ?No scratches, it is new, but it has an uncharacteristic distortion on the data side so it is probably bad.
I download the drivers off the Creative site and it says, you have a newer version already installed on your computer.
I have called Dell 5 times over the course of 2.5 hours being disconnected all 5 times after speaking to people with extremely thick accents that know as much about computers as I know about brain surgery.
BOTTOM LINE
1.Does the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express have the ability to support the three modes: ?Entertainment, Gaming, and AUDIO CREATION.
If so, how do I get it to workHow do I get a new CD
2. If this card does not support the three modes, what card doesThe Sound Blaster cards in my other three Dells all support these three modes.

No the Xtreme Audio doesn't not support the three modes, it only has Entertainment mode. Any X-Fi card that is not a Xtreme Audio does support the three modes.
