Soundblaster 5.1 Version 5.12.1.

Soundblaster 5.2..202 was installed automatically when I installed Vista, according
to Creative Labs here in Sydney Australia it is an XP driver but when I try to install
the same driver from the original CD I get a message saying "Soundblaster 5. Cannot be
Found" So I am saying is that Creative and/or Microsoft must have somehow tweaked the XP driver so that it will work on Vista but my Creative contact in Sydney doesn't seem to comprehend this.
There are no compatible drivers shown on Creative's website and as far as I know, none are
planned so there seems to be a lack of communication on the part of Creative about this
driver.
The driver works well except the Line In doesn't work although that might be something to
do with the Sound Editing software I am using which was designed for XP.

% Hi there, I'm also having this problem on my Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm using a desktop with a external Sound Blaster 5. Vx. Before when i'm using Windows Vista Ultimate the driver are all alright.. But after i upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate my driver is no longer working.. Even i use the creative auto update can't detect any new driver for my device.. Please help.. Creative please give a link to download the driver for Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.

• X-Fi XtremeMusic = Headphones&Mic + Speake

Hi out there!
I need your help!
Plz!
I've got a Audigy X-Fi XtremeMusic installed and all works excellent! (I love the 24bit crystalizer ^_^d)
But I'd like to listen to some music on my stereo and on the other hand I'd like to use some communication-software (teamspeak, skype.. etc), which should be directed through the headphones.
At moment I try to get along by having installed the onboard-soundblaster (ac97 @soundmax version 5.2..3630, mobo: asus p4c-800e-deluxe) and using the "SoundMax Digital Audio"-Device for Teamspeak. The headphone and the microphone is plugged in the motherboard's sockets... and generally it works. BUT.. if I change the master-volume-control on the SoundMax-Control-Panel this change will also affect the master-volume of the creative-audigy-panel!?!?!
Is it possible to change the volume independently? And if so, how? Or are there any other solutions?
I've just discovered a button near the volume-control of the entertainment-mode.. apparently the headphone-volume can be changed autonomously.. so, maybe it's possible to do it with just the Audigy X-Fi Soundcard and the right adjustments?
I'm very confused and I'm very bad in understanding technics... and my english is bad too, sorry!
But, if you understand my problem and have any solution... please help me...!
Greetz, Titi ^_^

I am having similar problems. I can use my mic fine but the static/overall quality of recording with my mic is HORRIBLE. I have tried 2 headsets and a regular microphone that I bought awhile back. I have an X-Fi ExtremeMusic that I just recently bought, and I installed the drivers off the cd, then updated the drivers on the soundblaster website. If I switch to Game mode, my record device is set on mic, but the static is unbearable.

• What Is Input Impedance Spec For Old SB

I have an old Soundblaster 6, PCI version. I seem to have misplaced the documentation.
I am working on a project where I would have to know the input impedance of the mic-in and the line-in of that card.
I know the documentation is available at the Creative webstie, but I am stuck with 28.8 dialup and the documentation is 7 MB, which is a long, long time for me to download.
If anyone has the specs handy, could they tell me the input impedance, (not output impedance), of the old SB 6 for the mic-in and the line-in? I think it is 0K ohms, but I am not sure. This is important for my project.
Thank you.

• Close but no Ci

I have been reading all the threads regarding this issue with games locking up and getting a screeching sound.
I have just built an AMD 64bit system with an Asus SLI A8N SLI Deluxe Board. I had an Audigy IIzs card previously on my Asus A78N-X Board and it ran well.
But on this system I play one of my fab games Americas Army and after maybe an hour or so of play it will lock up and a screeching noise comes through the Headphones.
I have tried all relevant drivers, updated bios, checked the knowledge base for answers including reading all the threads on this and other forums regarding the issue.
I had installed KX drivers which didn't work too well as the sound was less than satisfactory.
Then today I noticed new drivers with openAL support and installed them, after uninstalling and cleaning my dri've of the KX drivers.
Worked fine for nearly 2 hours then the same thing occurred. I guess it's time to take the card out and just use the built in sound. I will call Creative support tommorrow and see what they suggest but i am starting to think that I will just put the card back in my other pc.

I have been through all the checks suggested on this forum.
Uninstalled Creative Sound drivers and MediaSource via Add/Remove Programs.
Cleaned out all drivers using Driver Cleaner pro.
Reinstalled the latest drivers Creative had on offer that had OpenAL support.
Still had the same problem.
Ran WinXP again and formatted the dri've reinstalled windows updated with all patches to WinXP SP2, Installed latest Motherboard, Video, Sound drivers. Same problem.
Checked latency with PCI Latency Tool 2, both sound and video cards on 32 latency.
I have tried all versions of drivers for the audigy IIzs Creative has including the latest beta drivers to no avail.
My System:
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe Motherboard (Latest Bios 03)
AMD 3800+ CPU @2.7Ghz (Have tried setting the cpu back to 2.4Ghz, but the same issue happened). Stock Heatsink and Fan
XFX Geforce 7800 GTX 256MB 450/300 (Tried no overclocking but the same problem happened)
x 52 DDR400 PC3200 Kingston Value Ram (Will be purchasing 2x matched pairs Cosair 52MB PC3200XL C2 sticks this week).
x 40gig Fujitsu 7200rpm IDE HDD Primary in Ultra DMA mode

Creative Audigy IIzs Soundcard
Zalman 5. surround headphones w/mic
Zalman 5. Heaphone amp
Drivers
Motherboard: nForce 6.66
Graphics Card: Forceware 78.0 (Tried 78.03,77.77)
Soundblaster (Tried all versions including latest beta drivers)
DirectX 9.0c
PCI Latency Tool:
This showed 32 Latency for XFX Geforce 7800 GTX Graphics Card and the Audigy IIzs Sound Card.
Games i play that this problem happens in: Americas Army, Far Cry.
So at the moment I am using built in sound off the motherboard until i can spend the time to call Creative support.

• Soundblaster Play! & Windows 7 64bit, sound 'freezes'? Correct driver version?

Hi, I've had a Soundblaster Play! for a while now, and I'm using it on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop. I've got a strange problem where I am listening to music, doesn't seem to matter which program I use, and the sound suddenly stops, whatever player I'm using stops advancing and trying to start playing a new song will load the song but not play. Restarting the program usually works. The fact that it happens no matter what audio program I use (MediaMonkey and Songbird are the main two I've tried) makes me think it might be the audio driver. I have run the Creative Auto Update, which tells me there's an update, but even after I've run the update (and rebooted) if I go back and rerun the Auto Update it will again tell me the same update is available, which makes me think (at least some of) the update hasn't actually loaded. If I go into the device manager->Sound, video and game controllers->SB Play! and check the driver version, it tells me it's using driver version 1.0.1.0 with a driver date of 9/03/200, which doesn't seem to match with what the update should install. Is it possible just to get the latest driver file, without the other bits of software, so that I can try updating directly from the device manager? Thanks!!

CRe: Windows 7 64bit RC + X-Fi XtremeGamer cracklig sound problem
!!! Don't get me wrong Drewnami i don't want to flame anybody but just to get them think a bit about what they have done in such a long time with this problem. It seems the solution is to sell my GB of memory because it's unusable with a sound card that is that expesi've. It's a great sound card IF it WOULD work with the drivers they write for it. But it won't happen so it seems. They obviously think: "We don't care about users of an older rig, they should spend some more money on a new machine if they want for our product to work well." I say "NO!!"
Why should I? I'm happy with my config and it's working much better then some newer machines i have seen. Believe me! I'm working in a computer store so i know what i'm talking about.
Dear Creative representati'ves,
Please! Sit down and think about a solution for this problem. You're making some great products out there and don't let you loose your reputation because of some lines of codes that need to be written. Don't think that you'll the best and only choice on the market till the end of days. NOPE that won't happen.

comes with heatsink and additional power supply. This addition power supply cause temperature to raise up. what are improvements, compare this new version to the older version?
thanks

How is it stupid? Who mentioned overclocking? Anyone with a clue knows that if you pump more volts through silicon it can clock higher. This is the same for chips that come off the line that may be unstable at creatives reference 400mhz, but add more voltage and away they work at 400mhz. Tell me how thats stupid? Obviously you know nothing about silicon, transistor junction leakage, nor electronics.
And please tell me how higher thermal has anything to do with chip yield? The originals never got hot at all so how could that be it's
Nobody in the public will really know unless they pop the sinks off and compare numbers and measure the input core voltages on a sinked and unsinked card.Message Edited by spikestabber on 09-03-2006 05:8 AM

Hello everyone,
I installed the SoundBlaster CD that came with the Sound Card and had no issues. • Where do I get the first version of creative recorder for my Soundblaster Live! Platin

Hi there,
I would like to install the 2.00.34 version, but first I need the first version.
I cannot find it in the download area.
greetz!!!

This is because the directions you are seeing are out of date. They applied to Firefox < 10.
The only way to get data out of the Firefox for Android profile is to use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/copy-profile/
This data is not directly importable into Firefox desktop. It would require some inspection of the SQLite databases to accomplish what you want to do.

• Soundblaster Live! 24-bit No Sound Prob

I installed this sound card on my windows xp sp2 comp and it worked fine, I went to install the same soundblaster li've! 24-bit card on my windows 2000 sp4 comp and installation went fine. My problem is I get no sound what so ever on my windows 2000 comp and my windows xp comp did, I tried plugging in different speakers, headphones, and any other audio devices I could find that I know worked(tested on numerous things besides my windows 2000 comp) and nothing works. Driver version is 5.2..34, which came directly off the CD from the retail box that I purchase. I could not find any new drivers for this sound card off Creative's website, so I figure there wasn't any new releases. My sound panel has all my volume controls at 00%, the Creative Surround Mixer has all my volume controls set at 00%, and I know for a fact I have everything plugged in correct(Audio output device plugged into green, mic plugged into blue, nothing in orange or black). Any help would be much appreciated,
Thanks.
EDIT: System specs are;
AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 768mb RAM, Radeon 9600xt, FIC motherboard.

Seventhwind,
Did you check Speaker Settings application and ensure that the Digital Output Only option has not been enabled.
Also disable any onboard audio from the BIOS if any.

• SoundBlaster 5.1 not working in Windows 7

)SoundBlaster 5. not working in Windows 7E Hello all, I installed a SoundBlaster 5. VX sound card into my system: A Fujitsu-Siemens Celsius M430, 3.4 GHz Intel processor, 2GB of RAM and a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate (retail version). I initially tried to use the drivers provided on the product CD, which during installation gave me a bluescreen. After reboot, I downloaded the latest drivers for Windows 7 from the CLE website. But still, the drivers seem to not install correctly - I get a message that the SB 5. VX is ready for use, but the speaker symbol still shows a red cross and when I click on it, Windows suggests me to re-install the drivers, which gives me the same results even after rebooting. In the Device Manager, the device has a yellow exclamation mark besides it. Additonally, I may mention that the onboard sound device is a SoundMax onboard system, which I now have disabled. Anyhow, the SounbdBlaster is recognized by CLE AutoUpdate software (but needs no update according to the mesages). I'm a bit thrown up, did anybody encounter the same problems or have a solution yet? Cheers Dennis

I have a subwoofer and 5 speakers (2 for front, 2 for rear, 1 for center)...Philips MMS460 5.1.  Connection to the on-board RealTek HD Audio is simple, orange for the subwoofer, green for front and black for rear.I have already tried downloading the latest drivers from the motherboard manufacturers website,I have tried connecting the subwoofer connectors to different jacks (reversed black and green).
I have experimented with the settings in the RealTek HD Audio Manager and Control Panel->Sound windows.  Nothing works.
These exact same subwoofer and speakers worked perfectly fine in vISTA Home basic
1. Disconnect the speaker system from the pc rear audio panel
2. Remove the on-board audio using the "Add or Remove Hardware" option in Control Panel
3. Reboot the pc, install the driver.  Re-connect the speaker system.
4. Using the Sound applet found in Control Panel, configure the speakers for surround sound
5. Reboot the pc.
And now resume all of that ...i have been on Realtek hd audio manager->Speaker configuration set on 5.1 making the test ...EVERITHING WORKS FINE but ...finally when i open for example WINAMP AND PLAY A SONG ....is only  played on front *or stereo..So on what im wrong?

• Which midi device is better to use in windows (soundblaster X-FI)

there are 3 MIDI devices to select in windows:
1---sint SW wave GS (windows)
2---SB X-FI SYNTH A [E800]
3---SB X-FI SYNTH-B [E800] (default after installed creative drivers)
personally I have selected (sint SW wave GS) because is louder but I'm not sure if is better than the other 2
can anyone explain a bit the difference between these 3 or which one is the most accurate for playing DOS games using DOSBOX
thanks

I don't actually remember where specifically I found that SoundFont. This place seems as good as any, though:
http://www.schristiancollins.com/generaluser.php
Either the FluidSynth or SoundBlaster download options should be suitable. Clearly I'm using the FluidSynth one.
Loading it up has to be done through the MIDI control panel for your X-Fi. It's been a while since I've owned one so I'm no longer 100% certain of any of this, but the program you're after is the one that looks like a small piano keyboard. That should give you the option to set your SoundFont cache (it'll need to be at least as big as the SoundFont you're trying to load), along with selecting which Synth you're trying to set up and finally loading the SoundFont itself. I can't really be more accurate than that, I'm afraid, so there's going to be a little bit of T&E on your part there.
MUNT is a project run alongside DOSBox and SCUMMVM, designed to be a software alternative to a real MT32 or CM32 - neither of which is easily obtained anymore (or easily connected). If you're using a 32-bit OS it can be installed as a stand-alone driver or else you'll need to find a version of the aforementioned programs which support it. SCUMMVM I believe has it as part of the main package, but you'll need to use a version of DOSBox such as Taewoong/Ykhwong's to get MT32 going there.
http://ykhwong.x-y.net/
Note that Roland still owns the licensing for the MT32 and CM32, so you'll need the appropriate ROMs to use it in either SCUMMVM or DOSBox. The only legal way to obtain these is from the physical device, but they are available online (I cannot direct you to them for obvious reasons).
The likely issue with Gabriel Knight is that it's MT32, not General MIDI. Most of the games which run through SCUMMVM are, as are a lot of old Sierra games (Jones in the Fast Lane, Quest for Glory 1 and 2, etc) and a few other earlier ones (Indianapolis 500, Hero Quest, Gods, MechWarrior, Death Track, Fire & Ice, etc). This means all the instruments will be out of order if you try to play them through General MIDI (Jones sounds like a Celeste and a Piano, for example). Some people have tried making SoundFonts to mimic MT32 but, frankly, I haven't found any that even come close to sounding right.
Do note also that you'll likely need to manually configure almost all of the MT32 games to actually run in MT32 mode, as well as DOSBox itself. Some will be easier than others in that they'll have a configuration program, but others are a little more old school. Batch files can be a real lifesaver here, such as what I use to run Indy 500 (comments after the semicolon are added for description and don't actually feature in my file):
@ECHO OFF ; Stops what's being run from being shown on the commandline. Optional.
mididevice MT32 ; Sets DOSBox to MT32 mode.
INDY.EXE /R ; Actually runs the game. /R is required for Roland mode, as opposed to /A for Ad-Lib.
mididevice Win32 ; Sets DOSBox back to General MIDI mode.

• F.E.A.R. 2 black screen while using Soundblaster X-Fi

This is my second attempt to get some support for a problem that is plaguing many trying to play F.E.A.R 2 with a Soundblaster X-Fi. We have been on the official forums for WBGames now for the past two weeks asking for help. Many were able to find solutions by updating their codecs however there are many of us that still cannot get into the game. WBGames official response it as follows...
Dear, xxx
Regarding your sound acceleration error and the sound cards you have used, we apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced.
At the moment, we have been noticed that certain Creative sound cards (X-Fi, Sound Blaster and Audigy) and Realtek are presenting incompatibility issues with the F.E.A.R. 2 application. Unfortunately, Creative Labs have not yet released a patch to solve this situation, as other companies like Nvidia have worked on.
F.E.A.R. 2 is designed to function with Windows XP/Vista compatible graphics and sound cards. Drivers for these devices are provided by Windows itself or the respecti've card manufacturers and may occasionally result in incompatibility problems beyond our control.
If there is anything else we can do to assist you, please do not hesitate to contact us by email at ">[email protected] m or by phone 080-0664-9456 (in Germany) during the hours of EST :00 pm - 0:00 pm, PST: 0am- 8pm MON-FRI.

I thought that someone with creative labs would be interested in either responding or releasing some kind of a statement in regards to this.
The current problem for us is when we try to launch the game a small animated orb runs at the bottom right of the screen while the game loads. At the end of the animation we hear a small chime and the screen goes black as though it is about to load the intro videos. But we get nothing. The screen remains black. I have exhausted all of their solutions, I have updated drivers and tried the latest beta drivers from Creative. I have removed, replaced, and updated codecs. Video card drivers are updated, etc.
Basically we are faced with the following dilema. We can disable the sound card in Windows and the game plays however with no sound. We can run the game in safe mode which manually disables the sound card and the game plays but with no sound. Leave the sound card enabled and run the game in normal mode and we get a black screen.
PLEASE, can someone with Creative Labs respond to this? We are looking for answers and would very much like to play this game.Message Edited by djdouglas on 02-20-2009 09:39 [email protected]

Re: F.E.A.R. 2 black screen while using Soundblaster X-Fi?
solace wrote:
Pardon me but i'm looking your Quad SLI setup a potential culprit to your problems. Have you tried disabling SLI mode to see if the problem can be resolved?
That was my first thought when I encountered this problem. I took the steps troubleshooting video. Disabled SLI, Physically removed one video card. Updated drivers, etc. I am currently running the 82.06WHQL drivers which are suppose to be enhanced for F.E.A.R.2 and other games.
My next step was to try uninstalling codecs as their support team had suggested for people running into issues with the demo version (which btw worked perfectly for me). There were tons of reponses by the devs and community managers before the release of the game in response to people having issues (these same issues) on the demo. So they released a patch the day before the release of the game and when everyone installed the game the patch automatically installed. So for me and many others that enjoyed a smooth gameplay in the demo our rigs are now not working with the official release.
Since release we have yet to see a response or fix or suggestion from a dev. There have been many others in the community that have helped each other out by posting their solutions. For most updating their codecs using Klite or Ace Mega codec pack has fixed their problem but for a select few of us these solutions have not worked.
Basically I can launch the game successfully in safemode which disables sound. I can also disable the sound card and launch the game successfully although without sound. The codec that has seemed to be effecti've when replaced by others is the Microsoft IMA ADHCP codec. However for me I can disable that codec and get a hardware accelration error but still get a black screen. Re enable it and get black screen with no error. So I do not believe this to be the issue plaguing me. Ultimately it is coming down to a conflict with my sound board and the game.

• Soundblaster Recon 3D Not working with MAC OS X 10.10

Hello!
I have the Soundblaster Recon 3D which stop working after upgrading from OS X Maverics to OS X Yosemite. Well, I just noticed the new software release and installed the new software and applications package recently updated on November 7th 2014 and the sound card is still unusable. The release I installed is the "SBR3_L13_1_03_50_MAC_OSX_10_10.dmg.zip"
Does somebody have the same problem?
Thanks!

Thank you! Actually I found a work around. I "upgraded" the original firmware "SBR3_MAC_Firmware_EA_13_07_01.dmg.zip" since it seems that the Soundblaster was working on MAC OS X Maverics with the "original" firmware version of the Recon 3D Card.
In order to do this, the Soundblaster Application must be closed. Even if the notification for the firmware says "firmware not completed successfully", you just need to unplug the USB cable, reconnect, open the application and the sound card will be back operational again!

• Problem with DTT3500 soundset and onboard Soundblaster live! 24-bit

Hi,
I have bought a new PC with an MSI k8n sli platinum MB. this mainboard has a built in soundblaster live!24-bit chip onboard. it works great on headphones and normal 2 set speakers (analog connection).
however, when I try to set them up at the DTT3500 speaker set, trouble begins.
before continuing, just want to say First that my older PC is standing next to it, with a Soundblaster live! 5.1. If I connect with this PC to my speaker set, via the digital uitput, everythin works great. (5.1 surround).
In the DTT3500 manual, when Digital DIN is blinking, it says it isn't recieving any signal, or not the right one (like AC-3). (I know this when on my old PC when I switch to headphones, the digital din is then blinking, which is normal as I disabled Digital output in Windows)
now my questions:
Is this digital port is ac-3 signal or somthing else on the Soundblaster live! 24-bit?
Do I need to use another type of cable, like SPDIF Din Cable? (I now have a minijack to Din cable)
I tried with optical, it works, but only with 2 speakers (left and right / digital output is on). is this normal? If i look at the manual, it's typical used for gameconsoles with stereo left and right. I guess this is so with the DDT3500 decoder...?
if I try Digital Din on the Decoder, it doesn't work. the Decoder Led keeps blinking. Yet in Windows, digital output is on and 5.1 speakers is selected.
In short, exact the same setup on the Decoder and PC as my older PC.
My guess is the the soundblaster live! 24-bit is an enhanced version of the soundblaster live! 5.1? Am I wrong, I don't know....
I do know that the reviews said you could use the digital port (orange one)
here is a picture:

and here more info on it: http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/review.php?id=05boardnf4sli00microstak8nslipt0204
I would apreciate any help, as i'm really stuck at the moment.

does anybody use the soundblaster live! 24-bit to  power a surround speaker set? or is it just impossible? (for gaming)
