Soundblaster and front panel connectiv

Sorry if this has been addressed before!?I have Soundblaster 5. card, model no SB0090. It has a multi pin connector for attachment of the front panel dri've. However I do not have one of these dri'ves and they are no longer available. My question is can I connect mic, line (or speaker) out and line in to any of the pins in the SB card so I can make my own basic front panel connections. Thanks for any help?

Try it out, you can't break anything.
The leds work the way they should or they don't.
They won't break because you connected +/- wrong, if you do they simply won't lid.
As for the speaker, it doesn't matter, it's not a HiFi device it will work +/- reversed or not. (red = + / black = -)
Normal the PLED = Green + and White - for powerled.
Just connect it and see what happens.

  • Titanium Fatal1ty Pro and front panel audio

So I hooked up my case's front panel audio cable to the Titanium card and used the front panel connectors.
The sound quality is noticeably worse than using the back plugs. When I use the front panel mic, I also hear artifacts in the sound. When I play a game, I hear slight buzzes in accordance to what is coming out of the speakers.
I'm wondering if this is just the quality of my cases's cables or if it also happens with the official creative front panel accesory.
Anybody want to comment on quality?

/Re: Titanium Fatalty Pro and front panel audioQI had an older Audigy 2 dri've connected to my X-Fi Xtreme Music and that never had any interference. The X-Fi dri've bay can't be bought separately anymore.
When I switched to a newer X-Fi without a front panel, I used the case connectors and the sound quality was awful.
I think it's the way the connectors are wired and the build quality. Despite the really awful drivers Creative ship for their cards, the hardware's actually pretty good.
There're some guides on how to rewire front panel connectors to reduce noise:

  • Audigy 2 and front panel au

    Hi all,
I have a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 (SB0240) I plan to put in my new computer setup, which is going into an Antec P60 case. The new case has front panel audio connectors for both speakers and microphone. The connector is compatible with the Intel specs. Is there a way I can connect my Audigy 2 to this? My mainboard's SoundStorm 2 audio has this connector, but I am unsure if I can do this with an Audigy 2 card.Message Edited by dterborg on --2004 2:36 AM

  • Create OPC I/O server and front panel data socket problem

    Hi all!
I installed the NI OPC server. When I try to create a new server I/O in a LabVIEW project I don't see the "OPC client" possibility.
    Is something software missing?
Other question: I tryed to connect to OPC server using front panel data socket but my problem is same. When I click the numeric control and I go to the "data operation" menu there is no possibility to make data socket connection.
I don't know what is the problem.
I attached two pictures about my problem.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dear vajasgeri1,
do you have LabVIEW DSC module installed? Without it you will not have the OPC client funtionality.
And to configure DataSocket binding you need to go to the Data Binding tab in the Properties of a control.

  • Dr. Damien's Development - The Xylophone Project X - Font Issues and Front Panel Layout

The Show Raw Data button was made active in this installment. Doing this in a robust fashion was more involved than one might think, due to font and platform issues (remember I want to port this to a Windows Mobile device eventually). The following changes were made.
The A frequency indicator was made active. This was an oversight from the last update.
A front panel object, XylophoneFP.lvclass, was created to hold the front panel references and methods.
The front panel object was used to implement the Show Raw Data button.
The front panel object was used to compensate for font issues.
When testing this application on Windows Vista, I noticed that the font differences between Vista and XP were annoying enough that I wanted to fix them. This will also lay the groundwork for any layout issues when porting to Windows Mobile. Usually, I create a cluster containing all my front panel references, but this time I put them into an object. Besides the usual object boilerplate, there are two methods, one to rearrange the front panel and one to show/hide the data graphs.
Once the controls and indicators are properly arranged, showing and hiding the data graphs is simple. VI server methods are used to find the edges of the outer controls, some whitespace is added, then the front panel size is reset. Arranging the controls in the first place is much more complex. Dialog controls are used, and these controls change size based on the default font size. Font sizes can change due to user preference or when using the application in a different operating system than it was developed in. Button sizes can also change due to localization.
This problem is difficult to solve cleanly, and the VI which does this, XylFP.lvlib:XylophoneFP.lvclass:ArrangeControls.vi, shows the problem. It relies on the actual sizes of the controls/indicators to rearrange the front panel in a hopefully pleasing fashion. Even though this is a relatively simple UI, the VI is fairly complex. It uses VI server calls to determine the current sizes of controls and then rearrange them. If you choose to do something similar, consider the following hints:
The Bounds property of all controls is not writable. To change the size of controls, you need to find the property or properties which change the size. There may be more than one (which is why Bounds is not writable). For example, to change the size of a boolean, use the Button Size property.
In many cases, the property you use to change the size of the control will not be the same value as the Bounds property. Using the boolean again, the Bounds of a 3D LED include the 3D effect around the LED, but the Button Size only includes the LED itself. Comparing the Bounds property to the result of a query to the property you will be setting will give you the necessary offset to convert between the two.
Make sure you label your wires if you attempt to do things like this. Long wires are very common in this type of programming. It is difficult enough to keep track of things without the added aggravation of having the trace wires back to their source to identify them.
A few judiciously placed type converters can eliminate many type conversion dots. This is not usually a real problem in this context, but you should get into the habit of efficient programming.

It is simpler but you give up any multi CPU performance.  That LV is inherently parallel is one (the only) real advantage over a text based development system.  I can write good structured text that is almost as visually easy to parse as LV.  With modern syntax coloring engines, the difference in icons vs. structured text is not that great.
But the challenge I give the traditional text coders is to keep track of many mulitple threads.  This is why dataflow is a powerful concept.  Yes it does lead to asynchronous execution but if you impose synchronicity on your code you are working against LV.  I get most first time programs where everything is in a sequence structure.  "Just to be safe".
Of course this is much better but  my first design goal is that any application should take advantage of a much hardware as possible, degrade gracefully on slower hardware and play nice with other running applications.  This simpler structure severely handicaps that first goal.
In this case it is simple enough to "get away" with it since as you point out that there should not be anything that takes significant CPU time.   But that may not be true on the PDA?
If you are going to run it on the PDA will we be discussing techniques to seamlessly use both NIDAQmx Base and NIDAQmx in the same system?  That is a real challenge.  I look forward to more of this!
    Cheers!

  • Different sound quality from back and front panels

    I posted https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=112384.0
    but no one answered
Well, I have another related problem and a question:
    1. Why does sound differ if I plug my headphones into the back panel jack from that I get from my front panel jack?
    2. Is this by design?
    3. Can I change it (make sound from front like that from the rear)? How?
    4. Is this influenced by Windows Sound settings (speakers > advanced > headphones or speakers)? Could you please give more info on these settings (I could not find that anywhere!)
The major problem is that my phones sound too twittery, almost no bass, whereas the speakers plugged into the rear jack are OK. Please help!
My Windows is not English, so some names may be incorrect, sorry
    I have WinXP Pro, MSI P965 Neo-F, Realtek ALC883
I tried Technics RP-F500 and AKG K-44 headphones, they both sound alike
    I mostly listen to mp3s

hmm.. I do not aware of this, is this very significant?
I think you should check with MSI. goto MSI support site and post your problem.

I recently purchased a XtremeGamer Fatalty Professional and was wondering if i could connect the front panel audio from my thermaltake case to it

Well, I don't believe that to be possible. I don't think Creative has ever put out pinouts for the cards. And I have a hunch that none of the pins carry analog audio through them (correct me if I'm wrong though).

  • Formation of moisture between LCD and front panel in a iMac

    Hi Guys
I am using a 21,5" iMac for the last 18 months or so. Every monsoon (which is pretty heavy in Bombay) I face a strange problem. A few minutes after starting the mac, moisture starts accumulating between the LCD panel and the front glass which covers it. I have complained to Apple several times but there is no satisfactory reply. In fact one of their service center girls sent me this email explaining the reasons behind this problem
    Hi , Sir !
    Greetings of the day ............
This is with regards of ongoing problem with your iMac display issue.
I have understand it from the technician who have visited your place regarding this issue.Pls correct me ,if your imac display issue is different than belows.
Problem Reported: u see Some fog/condensation forms in that middle or corner of the screen(behind the glass). computer, But after turning it ON a large spot is clearly visible. [Deepak J] Your understanding is Correct .After turning of the computer, The fog disappears in just about 20 or 30 minutes.[Deepak J] No its not correct that fog/condensation goes in 20 or 30 minutes rather it takes more than 8 to 10 hours to get disappear and nature of the problem is intermittent. This is an environmental issue that happens with most of the iMacs here in mumbai during monsoon.it is because of humidity/moisture in the air.mostly it happens if there is a open window right behind the iMac or imac is very close to the AC.[Deepak J] My early PC which I used for more than 5 Years was also kept in the same way / environment  in which iMac is Kept & I bought iMac for 4 times more than the Cost I purchased my Old PC.
Since the iMac goes Glass > Space > LCD it wouldn't be totally surprising that condensation would show up there if there is a lot of humidity and the temp variations between the outside of the glass and the inside of the glass.
The space between the glass and lcd is not air tight. The glass is just a "cover" and not affixed to the actual LCD. It's held on by some magnets but there's still air going to and from between the lcd and the section that connects to the glass. It's like when you get condensation/ie., fogged windows in a car. The temp difference the air outside the glass and the air inside the glass as well as both surface sides it's a matter of physics that a fog will appear if the conditions are optimal.
So,only few below things can help u in this case.
1.Keep the iMac On,as much u can.we can keep the system in sleep all the time with energy saver settings.we will help u to do the same.[Deepak J] I use PC for Max to Max 2 to 4 hours in a Week so are you suggesting that I keep the PC on for rest of 160 Hours
2.use of de-humidifier will might help.[Deepak J] Can you please tell me what is de-humidifier ?
    3.Removing the glass panel(But not advisable.)[Deepak J] I don’t want to do that
Trust me ,it happens only in rainy seasons where humidity level is very high in our city and there is no technical solution to fix this as imac is design that way.[Deepak J] This the First rainy season after I purchased iMac
Hope, the above information will help u.
Pls let me know ,if u need any more information from our side.--

Its pretty obvious from this email that they have no clue on how to solve this problem. Combined with the fact that Lion has a lot of bugs, my impression is "Apple is the new Microsoft".
    whats your experience guys
    best regards

    Hi Shilpa
Its not the lack of testing. I am sure moisture is a problem in many other parts of the world. More irritating are the 'suggestions' by so called apple experts.
One solution could be to seal it from all sides. Should be a pretty standard job.

Thanks for that, Cornholio_OH! I've already looked into PC Performance's adapter and indeed noticed that those using it said PCP are wiring it wrong. So I got in touch with PCP about it and they deny the wrong wiring, stating that there's no mistake in how the cable is made but only how cases front ports are wired and grounded (?!). Also, they only provide the adapter for AC97 and not HD audio and some people had trouble with the AC97 connection, though I suppose that's better than nothing
Though you are right that it's an alternati've that may be worth the money, personally I strongly bulk at having to get one of those, especially when adding shipping costs to Europe, it no longer will be worth the money! When nowadays there are cards that do perform as well if not surpassing CL's and who provide the adequate connection and at no extra cost, I am strongly inclined to getting rid of the Fatality -practically brand new one by the way- and go for another make. Call it stubbornness or principle, if us consumers just roll over and give in having to either buy more accessories or modded cables, we're sending the wrong signal to CL and everyone else that it's okay to take us for stupid and milk us.

  • Saving Front Panel and desktop settings

When using Solaris 6.X or 7.X, is there a way to save my
    1. Front Panel settings
    2. and desktop setup (currently open windows, their sizes and positions)
so whenever I log off and log back on, my desktop and Front Panel will look exactly the same?
    Thanks,
    George

    Hi,
You're right. This is an otion in the development environment.Go to Operate>>Make Current Values Default. That will make all the values of your front panel controls the default values.
You can also individually set each control default value by right clicking>>Data Operations>>Make Current Value Default.
I also suggest having a look at all these articles/KBs:
    Default Values refs

  • Multiple VI on a Single Front Panel

Probably a simple question but I'm having trouble figuring out how to do it.
First, I have LabView 2010, Professional Development System
I have been trying to learn LabView the hard way.  I've been reading the documentation, starting with Getting Started and testing VI and front panels for instruments we have in the lab.  I can run the examples and control the instruments individually through individual front panels.
My question is, "How do I create a single front panel (or application), that consists of several instruments?"
For instance, I have an Agilent 34970, Data Actuisition Unit.  And I can create a front panel (and block diagram) to read data from the instrument input terminals, operate switches, etc.  I also have a GenSys Power Supply and can control the voltage levels and on/off, from it's front panel. But the two panels (and block diagrams) are not linked.
I have other instruments but understanding how to link two different block diagrams (with single front panel), will help me figure out how to expand it to multiple.
How do I integrate multiple block diagrams (or VI), with a single front panel (and block diagram) such that I can use loops, structures and conditions in one, that can be used to control the programming in the other.  For instance, say I want to sample an input on the 34970 and if it's between x and y voltage, then set the power supply to another voltage and test again. This requires two VI acting in synchronization with each other.
I can do each seperately but am stuck on how to integrate these into a single application.
    Thanks,

    Hi Mike,
Patricia B is right... You can try sub vi. But if you really want to put two vi's in a same window you can try sub panel. But it is not recommanded... Check these vis....
