Soundblaster Audigy Platinum - no sound / PC loc

I'v got a very annoying problem:
When upgrading my GFs PC with a new Mainboard (Gigabyte, NForce2 based) and a new processor, the machine started to freeze after a few minutes of playing games. Used Games were Rome: Total War and Counter Strike:Source.
First I blamed Windows (which is usually not the worst thing) and cleanly reinstall XP Pro with Servicepack 2.
The Problem persisted.
I tried the old Mainboard, the old CPU, the old Ram Modules, another graphicscard, a different Harddisk and even a new Power Supply - of course in any possible combination.
(It took whole Eastern to do this, since I always made a fresh clean Windows installation each time I changed core components such as the Mainboard)
There was something strange: I accidently turned the switch of the powerline of, when Windows was about to restart after the Audigy Webupdate (Main Driver component of the Soundcard). SINCE THEN the Soundcard is SILENT !!!
The Driver recognizes it, the Mixer and the AUDIO HQ work, the Front Panel is also recognized.
I blamed Windows again and did once more a clean reinstallation - but the Soundcard stayd silent.
I removed the Card and SURPRISE - with the onBoard Soundchip (Some Realtek) enabled, the PC runs stable and I have sound (even if the Quality is not realy good).
My Questions to you all:
Has anybody ever had a problem like that ?
Has someone any idea how to find out if the card is damaged or not ?

• Soundblaster audigy platinum jack panel compatibility with audigy 2 or audigy 2

Can I use a Soundblaster audigy platinum dri've (the front case jack panel) with an audigy 2 or audigy 2 zs sound card? Is it compatible? This is so I don't have to by a platinum version of the audigy 2 or audigy 2zs and spend the money on another dri've panel just to upgrade the sound card.

As both the Audigy and Audigy 2 lines report they are compatible with WinXP, is there any reason I wouldn't be able to use my Audigy Platinum system I bought in 200 with a suped up new Dell Dimention desktop system I just bought? I guess the question behind the question is, what's the difference between the Audigy and Audigy 2 besides just the parts not being compatible with each other and the true bit thing fixed? Thanks!

• Soundblaster Audigy Platinum EX + Xbox 360 = Surrou

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum, so don't shoot me if i ask something obvious. Also I am sorry for my bad English, please keep in mind that I'm not a nati've speaker.
So here comes my question:
This is the setup I am thinking about:
-Xbox 360 (playing a game with Dolby Digital 5. surround encoding.)
--Connection: digital optical audio cable (Toslink)
-Connected to: The optical input on the external module of my Soundblaster Audigy Platinum EX
<img height="37[/img] src="http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7660/dri'vefrontor.jpg" width="500" alt="">
-This card is installed on a PC with an Athlon XP 3000+, 52mb ram, 60Gb harddisk,... A recent pc in other words, running Windows XP Media Center Edition.
- speakerset, connected to the sound card using the analog connectors:
<img border="0" height="73" src="http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/804/bracketpe9.jpg" width="505" alt="">
Will I be able to hear surround sound from the xbox game trough my analog speakers this way (When the PC is turned on offcourse.), or will i get (upmixed) stereo audio, or even worse: no sound at all?
I hope someone can answer this question,
Greets,
FORZA M

That's correct in your case (connecting to the expansion bay) the soundcard will decode the DolbyDigital and send it to the analog speakers.
For me it is veird that you want to us a whole PC to do that - energy consumption, heat, space occupied (you will need a separate monitor for PC and a big-screen TV for XBox 360).
Another solution would be an external decoder - like a digital receiver or Creative's DDTS-00: http://www.creative.com/products/pro...6&product=9468

• Aux 2 Soundblaster Audigy platinum probl

Hi there.
I used to have problems with using aux 2 (red/white on the front panel of audigy platinum) , bascially
because the volume control in windows didnt have aux 2 volume control under advanced. After contacting support and updating my drivers I think with the webupdate on creative.com aux 2 was listed in the advanced volume control thingy, so I could check the box and untick the mute setting.
But after some formatting and new installation of my soundcard I cant find a way to get the aux 2 volume control back. Its just not listed and I am not able to hear sound through my speakers. I tried all updates that are downloadable from creative.com ; also the autoupdate software of creative. No luck at all.
Can someone please help me to get my aux 2 volume control back ?Greetz

• No 5.1 audio in Soundblaster Audigy Platinum

Hi, i have downloaded the last drivers aviable for Windows Vista and i have configured the console to 5. audio, but the computer only sounds in stereo; no rear, no front no bass... i don't know what do i have to do so i can enjoy my card in vista.
I tried to configure it by the options that Windows provides but then the sound disappear.
Thx for any help you give me.

That a fresh install or old install of Vista .You should have stuck with cd drivers the new ones have problems . I have the x-fi Platinum i got for peanuts and I am using in 7. in Vista Ultimate 32 bit and it also worked in 64bit also . I would say remove the old drivers but that will not help even if you use a driver cleaner i have no idea what creative does but i had my system running great and installed the new drivers and had centre channel only with mono signals and i tryed everything and had to resort to reinstalling .

• Soundblaster Audigy 2NX External Sound Card Fidelity Degradat

I get a muted, out of phase, tinny sound along with the music being played; sounds ok for a while then this happens regurlarly. Closing player & reopening stops the problem temporarily but recurs. I've uinstalled/reinstalled software & updated as well. Any suggestions?Message Edited by Vince8 on 0-22-2005 09:50 PM

You should insist to have the installation CD. There are several essential software in the CD which may not be avaibale for download. Alternati'vely, you may want to contact Creative technical support to get/buy the CD.

• Soundblaster Audigy Platinum EX still keeps defaulting to 2 speakers. Please he

Hi,
I am still having this problem where my soundcard keeps defaulting to 2 speakers. I have a 4. speaker setup, and set the soundcard to 4 speakers, which works fine for a short while, but then I find that the setting has changed back to 2 speakers. I am running windowsXP. I never had this issue under windows98, but found I had this exact same problem with my previous soundcard, the sbli've 024 player when using that under windows xp.
Is there anybody who can help, as this is now getting really frustrating.
Iain

hmm, seems to be a problem with many creative cards. This problem seems to only occur under windows XP, so obviously some kind of conflict somewhere. I thought once I had installed the latest drivers and service pack 2 the problem might go away, but how wrong I was Wish I could find out what actually happens to cause it to revert back to 2 speakers, but it seems to be completely random. I have got other users on this pc, and thought maybe it reverted when another user logged on with different settings, but I went into each users account and set each one (both in windows and the creative software) to 4 speakers, and it still reverted back too 2 speakers!!!. I even tried a completely fresh install of windows xp with little else installed, but still the same problem. I emailed creative about 6 weeks or more ago, but never got any answer.

• Sound blaster audigy platinum ex constant static sound, PLEASE HE

hey, i just got my sound blaster audigy platinum ex sound card today and the second i installed it and plugged in my speakers i got this static noise that would come out at all times, when i would play music you could hear the music softly, but still the static dominates. I disables my onboard sound and tried reinstalling in a different pci slot but still same problem. This is my first time buying a creative card and it has not been a pleasant experience so far. Can anyone please help me?
My pc is
windows XP pro
amd 3000+ 64
Asus K8V SE deluxe socket 754 via k8t00 ATXASUS

siruis,
go to the mixer settings and one of the sliders. the one
beside the wave slider to the right and slide it down to about 40% and try it, while playing if static still present
slide it down more while the track is playing, i had the same prob wwith li've 24bit 7. and this cured it for me.
hope this helps you.

• Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum

Hi there I just had a quick simple question. I am interested in buy one of the Sound Blast Audigy Platinum eX sound cards with the external portion as well. I am wondering if the external can double as a receiver so I can just hook up a set of speakers to the PCI card for my TV and my Personal Computer. Is this possible, even if I do need to purchase extra adapters? I have an RCA cable I can run from the L/R of my TV to the External Card, but can the External card provide an output to the speakers? Basically all I am asking is if the TV sound can go out of the PC speakers...lol Sorry if I made it sound more complicated than it really is.
Sincerely,
Matt

Hi Specter,
Don't worry, it's better to ask questions and get the answers you need, than to be confused or unsure
The first question is a bit subjecti've, some people may notice the difference, but the quality/SNR on those cards is very high so it shouldn't make much of a difference really. It will sound better aswell as you'll be hearing the full effects, in the proper speakers, instead of just stereo.
As far as the second query goes, I can't really recommend any particular application to you personally, but others can add their input there. The full versions of the various applications should all pretty much have the same options, at least the ones I've tested generally allow you to change the audio option which is what you'll need if you want to connect digitally (most DVD applications now have a built-in decoder, but if you want the audio to be sent over the digital connection you need to turn off the decoding option, so it outputs the signal untouched, to your receiver). Trial versions don't have as many options though, so on some you might not be able to adjust the option you need, but that shouldn't be a problem on full versions.
Hope that helps,
Cat

I have the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card installed in my Dell 8400 PC. Does anyone know what the latest SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS driver version is? I currently have driver v 5.2.4.445 and date 8.7.04 I've tried to install this from the Creative site: SBA2_PCWDRV_LB__84_55-R.exe but keep getting a "setup could not detect and sound blaster audigy 2 on your system" error. The driver on the Dell site is: Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS: R92022.exe Thanks! Tony.
Hi
You may first need to patch the driver package by using ctcomp.exe to get std. drivers (eg. not Dell specific) installed to your Dell PC. Search this forum after ctcomp.exe --> there you'll find some instructions too.
You can also find a link to the latest drivers available (I personally use Audigy 4 drivers from november 2005 --> can be found from creative support pages) by searching this forum (I think the latest WHQL version is .~62 for the original version).

I mean that I can get the decoded Sound in realtime decoded that I can use it to an acti've Surround set?
Thank you very much,

Hi Tobias>> You can go for a Plain Audigy 2 ZS will be the cheapest way to do it, It will decode AC3 and DTS all you have to do is a very little addition to your card, it will take you 5 minutes to do it, follow this link and just use the info you need.

If you wanna have all the inputs/ouputs buy an Audigy 2ZS Platinum.

• SB Audigy Platinum EX keeps defaulting to 2 speak

Hi,
I have a soundblaster audigy platinum EX running under windows XP with a set of 4. speakers.
I set the speaker setup to 4 speakers in the creative software, and it works fine for a day or 2, and then I find it has defaulted back to 2 speakers. I had exactly the same problem with my previous SB Li've 024 player whilst running on windows XP, although it was perfect under windows98. I am using the latest drivers, but this has made no difference at all. I have heard of other poeple having this problem also, but I have never heard of a solution to it. This is now getting very frustrating, as I purchased the audigy to get around this problem, believing that the real problem was due to the sbli've 024 player not being fully supported under windowsXP, but now I realise that obviously wasnt the reason.
Any answers or suggestions would be really appreciated.
thank you

Search after software called ctpanel.exe from your hard dri've or if you have installed the latest drivers (02.08.00.0004) for your card, there should be a Console application called "Creative Audio Console" bundled w/ the driver installation (though, I don't know if you get it installed for your card).
