SoundBlaster Audigy ZS Pro ASIO DRIVER Questions w/ Cubase

<SPAN>
<SPAN>I am using Cubase SX 2.2 and the SoundBlaster Audigy ZS Pro. I need to gain a better understanding of the differences between the three Creative ASIO drivers that Cubase SX 2.2 recognizes. They are as follows:
<SPAN>
<SPAN>Creative ASIO - [Cubase sets default sample rate at 48KHz ]</LI>
<SPAN>SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96 (B800) [ Cubase sets default sample rate at 96KHz]</LI>
<SPAN>SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO [Cubase sets default sample rate at 48KHz ]</LI>
<SPAN>I can understand that the 24/96 ASIO driver supports 24 [email]bit@96KHz]bit@96KHz[/url] recording. I am not sure what the differences are between Creative ASIO & SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO. I have read other related post on this subject and it was stated that the Creative ASIO is the older 6 bit ASIO driver, but I noticed something interesting in relation to the input devices that Cubase SX 2.2 sees between the three are quite different, but it's opposite of what you might imagine.
<SPAN>Here are the details:
<SPAN>For Both Creative ASIO & SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO, Cubase SX2.2 lists the following inputs:
<SPAN>Line in / MIC L & R, Line in 2 L & R, Line in 3 L & R, SPDIF IN L & R
<SPAN>and then the strange...MIX L & R, MIX FL & FR, MIX RL & RR, MIX FC, MIX LFE (?), MIX RC ( twice), MIX SL & SR
<SPAN>No OPTICAL?
<SPAN>For the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96, Cubase SX2.2 lists the following inputs:
<SPAN>Line in / MIC L & R, Line in 2 L & R, Line in 3 L & R
<SPAN>No SPDIF or OPTICAL?
<SPAN>I assume the MIX inputs are for the Dolby Digital Bus Mixers in Cubase to be able to send outputs directly to the Surround Channels?
<SPAN>I set the Latency all the way down to 2ms for each driver. Currently I am achieving a Input of 3.042ms & Output of 2.00ms w/ the 24/96KHz & w/ the other two I am achieving a Input of 4.083ms & Output of 2.00ms. Not sure why the difference?
<SPAN>I'd really like to gain an understanding or be directed to some documentation (Audigy Manuals lack in this detail) to help explain these differences and understand why the 24/96 driver wouldn't list the same inputs if it's the same card. Is this just a bug? Any updates to fix?
<SPAN> Sorry for the long post, but I felt if I should this detail I may get some good insight to from yall experts out there.
<SPAN>ANY Help will be greatly appreciated!!
<SPAN>
<SPAN>THX,
<SPAN>KeyMix

Thank you.
As it's an OEM product you have there, you probably need to modify the installer meant for original CT products. I have posted some instructions long ago so if you search here by using "ctcomp.exe" as a searching criteria you might find that thread. You also need drivers from older installer since CT made some changes to the installer so that the old ctcomp won't work with the latest driver installation. IIRC, there were a fix-up for this too available but I'm not sure where it was introduced ... was it @ DHF (link given below)?
You can download the CD as an ISO image from BadBoys site (http://badboy.filefront.com/).
IIRC, there were some other instructions for this @ Driver Heaven Forums and also you might already heard of YouPAX driver mod ... which can be found @ Driver Heaven too.

  • Problems with Audigy 2 ZS ASIO driv

I have some problems with ASIO drivers in my Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. I use the program Cubase SE. When I select the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO 24/96-driver, it works for some time but then the sound starts cracking and popping and eventually doesn?t work at all until you reselect the driver. And with the SB Audigy 2 ZS ASIO-driver I can only record in mono, even though I checked the inputs. I think the Creative ASIO-driver had the same problem. Actually the ASIO Multimedia Driver has functioned the best. What could be the problem?

Indeed, if you think it's something that might be useful to others aswell, then it would be nice to have it up here

  • Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3 doesn't list my Audigy 2's ASIO driv

Hey, guys!? Not sure what happened with my ASIO drivers listed from my soundcard, but they are no longer listed in Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3. I'd like to use them. I can use the WDM drivers instead, but when I want to use my other recording program (Sonoma Wireworks RiffWorks), it REQUIRES Asio drivers so I'm stuck. Any suggestions? Thanks!
    Wes

ASIOCaps just lists I/O vhannels/format, current buffer size in samples, driver status and supported samplerates for your selected ASIO driver. If you see those Creative ASIO and SB Audigy ASIO [xxxx] drivers listed there then you have all needed drivers installed properly ... also, it's possible to adjust driver latency from there by pressing the Control Panel... button.
If you don't see those two drivers listed there then you need to reinstall Creative drivers or use Asio4All.
Which O/S you have there (w2k, xp, vista)?
Try to search those files mentioned in my previous reply and if you can't find both then reinstall drivers.
BTW, also, are you sure the Audigy card is enabled on software (if you have a headset plugged or onboard sound enabled, you maybe get it'sdrivers listed instead of Audigys). Many software uses system default audio device ... when you plug say headset it maybe gets the system default audio device status .... and if you have onboard audio enabled then just switch the Audiy back as default audio device (mmsys.cpl)

  • Audigy 4 Pro + new driv

I just recently reinstalled Windows, and updated to the latest drivers after a week or so. during that week (and before the reinstall) the card worked flawlessly. Now, after a few minutes from boot, it begins to squeal. Where normal sounds would play, (clicks in my browser, games, movies) different pitch squeals play on top of the constant squealing. Music and Wav files, however, play fine--with the squealing still behind it.
    Creative Diagnostics comes up clean.
Ive tried any solution Ive seen online here, reinstalling, etc.
    Oddities Ive noticed:
The CTHELPER.exe and DLLML.exe processes seem to have crashed and resist being killed.
CTHELPER was disabled from starting with Windows.
    System:
    Dual Opteron 240 workstation
    2 GB RAM
    Tyan K8WE motherboard
Windows Server 2003 SP - Windows XP drivers should be fully compatible
Audigy 4 PRO - only drivers installed/drivers & basic Creative utilities
    Any help would be appreciated.

    You meant ASIO, didn't you.
ASIO driver becomes installed automatically when you install drivers for your card. You select the driver mode in Audition Audio preferences from a droplist. You should see least three Creative/SB ASIO drivers listed there ... one for 24/96 and two for 6/48 "resolutions". If you can't see these drivers listed there then just reinstall (the latest) drivers from Creative Support/Downloads.
NOTE: Adobe added ASIO support in Audition from v. 2.0 so, if you have the v. .5 there ...

  • SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS latest driv

I have the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card installed in my Dell 8400 PC.
Does anyone know what the latest SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS driver version is?
    I currently have driver v 5.2.4.445 and date 8.7.04
I've tried to install this from the Creative site: SBA2_PCWDRV_LB__84_55-R.exe but keep getting a "setup could not detect and sound blaster audigy 2 on your system" error.
The driver on the Dell site is: Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS: R92022.exe
    Thanks!

    Hi
You may first need to patch the driver package by using ctcomp.exe to get std. drivers (eg. not Dell specific) installed to your Dell PC. Search this forum after ctcomp.exe --> there you'll find some instructions too.
You can also find a link to the latest drivers available (I personally use Audigy 4 drivers from november 2005 --> can be found from creative support pages) by searching this forum (I think the latest WHQL version is .~62 for the original version).

  • Audigy 2 and ASIO driv

I have recenty installed an Audigy 2 and loaded the most current drivers for it from Creative. I am using the WDM drivers but would like to try ASIO drivers. It was my understanding that the latest driver package had the ASIO drivers as well. They don't appear in the list of drivers that I can try. If I browse to the SBAudigy 2/program/WDM/Common/ I can see CTASIO.DLL which I think is the driver but if I try to browse to it when updating driver it doesn't work cause I think it is looking for an .ini file. Any way I can't find anywhere that explains exactly how to install these drivers.....but from what I have read they would be best for what I want to use it for which is recording. I am usiing Windows ME if that makes any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yeah thats its, i've recently had a hard dri've crash and had to reinstall everything on my pc, i had the creative asio drivers before but they aren't there now.
The thing is though i lost my installation cd for my audigy 2 and i'm using my mates to install, however when i try to install card from cd it says there no audigy 2 card present, so i had to install the drivers manually by searching on the cd and the sound works fine.
I'm thinking my mate doesn't have the same audigy 2 card as me and thats why it aint working, do you know how i can find out which audigy 2 i have?
I've disabled on board sound in bios so its not that.
There is a sticker with a serial number on card (something like MSB0243xxxxxxxxx). The bolded part on my example shows the model of your card.
I think you can install these drivers (use the instructions if you don't like to install the Audio Console utility too).
Also, you can download ISO image file of the original installation CD by following this link. Install software by running the start.exe found on CTRun\ folder in that image file (when extracted or burnt).

  • SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS VE Vista Driv

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS Video Editor and am running vista business, i have installed the latest creative Drivers and have been waiting for months for creative to release PROPER WORKING FULLY FUNCTIONAL VISTA DRIVERS,? so that this product can work as its meant to work. I have been advised that drivers are being worked on and that they should be released soon. Its been 6-8 months and still no drivers that can deli'ver the functionality i expect in a $600 sound card, when i purhcased this product, there was a vista logo located with this product descrition saying it is supported and is vista ready, quite clearly it is not. I need accurate information on the following questions:?. Is there a creative team in fact working on a fully functional vista driver for this product.2. When will this vista driver be released?3. Will this driver deli'ver a fully functional product?Do not reply to this with some crappy template response as this will infuriate me, please reply with logic as i am a paying customer and have been for many years, i expect respect and i expect the truth from creative on this occassion. Please advise and escalate this matter to the MANAGING DIRECTOR OF CREATIVE, if you cannot then provide me with the correct contact details and i will do it myself.

    Vespa,
We do not have plans to support Vista for Video Editor.
However, if you check the discussion on the Forum (primarily in the Video area) you will see that the audio portion can work due to the Vista support for the Audigy 2 ZS line and for the video portion, check the info on how to make it work. It works with Vista 32bit.

  • New Mac Pro Hard Drive Question

So I think I understand this whole external parts thing with the Mac Pro. But I do have one question I want to make sure I am not making a mistake on. I got an external hard drive for my Mac Pro using USB 3.0. My thinking was a mechanical hard drive can only transfer data at a certain speed and it appeared that no matter which I picked Thunderbolt ($200) or USB 3.0 ($100) the transfer rate of the data was the same. If buying a SSD I could understand buying thunderbolt but for your typical external 7200 RPM hard drive isn't 3.0 all you need? Am I missing something here, i.e. why would someone pay an extra $100 for a thunderbolt external hard drive that is mechanical and 7200 RPM?

    Linc Davis is quite right.
But be careful not to generalize that too much. The new cylinder Mac Pro has enough USB bandwidth available to run one USB-3 both directions at once, full tilt. So when you get more than a handful of USB drives or intend to use it for production at high throughput, it may start to slow down.

  • On a T61 Windows XP Pro, C DRIVE Questions, please help.......

Hello Forum......My C Drive is almost full and Ive deleled loads and its not improved my free space, I add up what I think Im using all this memory on nearly 24G.....I deleted  3games worth 3050mb and no change, Im still at 399mg left free......I was wondering if it is possible to transfer 25 gigs memory from my T Drive, to my  C Drive,  as I got 124G there nad it dose'nt look like that drive gets used, hardly at all.......I looked at a pal's laptop and he has everything I have and he has 20G free memory left on his XP Pro........Im just cant figure what else to do.........help needed..thanking you, yours sincerely....liamo

You can't really move much to the other drive without some serious tweaking of the Windows Registry.
What you can do, however, is move your "My Documents" directory (right-click on it and chose properties and location, or something akin to that), and start installing programs and games onto the other drive (which will probably involve chosing advanced installation when installing).
What you CAN do, however, is get a partitioning-program, like Partition Magic or something similar, and expand the size of the C:-drive, given that you only have one harddrive partitioned into two partitions.

  • Mac Pro Hard Drive Questions

    Hi there,
    i'm a Mac and a SATA newbie since i'm still running a 7 years old Pc :\
I found a topic about HD in this forum http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=723121&start=0&tstart=0 where i can read that the HD WD Caviar® SE16 is a good choice, but the topic it's dated 9-2006 so i was wondering if is still like that :P
Also looking at the mac specs on apple site i can read the Hard Drive Bay are SATA so i guess i can't use a HD SATA2 with the MacPro, is this right?
Are there any diff as i can guess between SATA and SATA2?
Trying to get informed as much as i can but i'm still a bit confused.
Many thx in advance for your help

The simplistic answer is yes, but the question is somewhat confusing. Let's say you wanted to create a RAID 0 array to speed things up for video editing and you were going to join two drives into a RAID 0 array. When you create the RAID array with Disk Utility or SoftRaid, you will end up with your two drives looking like a single drive. There will be one icon. If either crashes the whole thing goes down. If you start with two 500gb drives you end up with a 1TB Raid and you would need another TB drive to back it up. You would normally clone the raid for backup purposes to a single TB drive, or if you are as careful as the Hatter, you would clone it twice. You could, of course create another RAID array from two more 500GB drives and clone it. At least I -think- you could do that but perhaps the Hatter can clarify that point. In general you can think of those two RAID drives as a single drive for most practical purposes. With a RAID one setup, your two drives would end up acting like a single drive and if you start with two 500gb drives you would see a single 500gb drive that is an "instant" backup so if one fails you can keep going.
If you are going with a RAID, get the RE's. That's a no brainer, and for either RAID 0 or RAID 1, you'll want three drives - two for the raid and one (or two!) to backup, with the backup either the same size or double the size depending on which RAID you are doing.
It's your comment/question where you say "pull out a RAID array...and build a new array" that doesn't quite make sense to me. In any case...I think you'll be able to do just about whatever you want once you dive into it. Just keep your world well backed up and you're always safe.

  • Snow Leopard on Mac Pro Hard Drive - question?

    Hi all
Been talking to a reseller who is offering me a reasonable deal on a Mac Pro.
I have asked that he install the Snow Leopard partition on a 2TB 7200rpm drive [Bay 1], but he has said that it can only be installed on a 1TB drive.
As I understand it, you can install Snow Leopard on a drive of this size (this is the same model of drive offered on the Apple store when you get a mac pro made to order.)
I was hoping to get this cleared up, so would appreciate some advice =)
    Thanks all!

Good grief the nonesense... you can install it on any drive, any size, there never has been a problem or limit, last time there was, it was PATA (or PITA) 128GB limitation on old G4s and an old OS X.
The reseller is smoking a pipe and seems to have lost his bearings. Stay clear of this uninformed seller.

If it uses the same drivers w/ Li've! 24-bit then no ASIO support (look from CT support downloads) --> you need to use Asio4All instead.

  • Audigy 4 Pro on Vista Prob

hey guys, I'm new to this message board but have been a supporter of creative for quite a few years now, but anyways I have a problem hopefully a few of you can figure out for me as I'm currently stumped.
I have the Soundblaster Audigy 4 Pro sound card and have had Vista installed since it came out, I had the latest Creative driver's installed and it worked great, about a month ago when Microsoft released the SP beta for the public I installed it and that's where my problems started, the driver's are apparently incompatible with SP and I could only get 2. sound out of my speakers and the audio console looked a little screwed up, for instance the speaker configuration drop down box had nothing in it and the cmss looked screwed up, anyway I left it alone up until yesterday when I wanted my 7. surround back, I decided to uninstall SP and revert back to normal Windows, the drivers' were still screwed up so I reinstalled them but no luck, I found Daniel K's latest driver's here and uninstalled everything Creative and installed the driver's fresh but it still didn't work.
I have cleaned out the registry and uninstalled everything Creative like I said, tried installing a few different driver's but nothing seems to work. There is nothing in the drop down box under speaker selection and the cmss and eax tabs doesn't look quite right either, I can't synchronize with the windows control panel wither cuz the box is missing, I am out of options and don't really want to reinstall Vista, like I said before I installed the SP beta for the public it worked fine but after that it hasn't, would it be a good idea to maybe try and get the released version that's leaked or is there another set of driver's that I haven't tried that might work Also I'm using the 32-bit Vista but can upgrade to 64-bit but I'm not sure if that will make a difference, if anyone can help me, please do! I'll try to respond to any questions you guys may have, thanks in advance.

Do i have to enable cmss?
    Please help.
    Thank you
P.S sorry for my bad english.Message Edited by ASTRAPI on 06-2-2005 0:30 AM

CMSS is an effect used for stereo sounds, to emulate surround sound for them. It has no effect on the DVDs you're playing as you're just outputting the AC3 signal so the speakers can decode it.
If you're using a digital connection, then CMSS will not have any effect for other sound either, you need to connect through multiple analog connections to get that sound. A standard digital connection (coaxial and optical SPDIF) can only pass over either a stereo PCM signal, or an encoded AC3 stream (like on your DVDs). Normal sound like music or games will only be passed over as stereo PCM, so there is no CMSS effect there.
If you can connect your amplifier through several analog connections, then you can use CMSS aswell, otherwise your amplifier might have it's own upmix option like ProLogic.
