Soundblaster Live! 5.1 ORIGINAL driver nee

I reformatted my computer recently and went from Windows 2000 to Windows XP. I then discovered that I don't have the install CD for my SB Li've 5. card. I've tried to find the driver on the Creative website, but for some reason, they only provide updates and patches for users who already have the driver installed, which don't work because I need the original driver to begin with. I've searched all over the internet for this driver, I've downloaded numerous drivers claiming to be for SB Li've 5. and none of them work. Everytime I try to install a driver I've downloaded from the internet, I get an error message saying that the SB Li've soundcard cannot be detected, even though my soundcard is inserted properly and was working before the reformat.
If somebody has or knows a place where I can get the original driver for my soundcard I would be extremely grateful. Which also makes me wonder why this driver is not on the Creative website. It seems impossible for me to ever be able to use this product again unless someone knows where I can get the driver. Please help, I've been searching for the right driver for atleast a week now.

Depending on the age of the driver disk it may not work with XP (the older ones wouldn't).
Not to worry, XP has access to a generic driver that works just fine, if it didn't install with SP2, then go into your device mgr and select your audio device and 'update driver' from the internet, XP will call home and get the necessary generic driver.
If your card does not detect that is a different story (but it should, as it was working before).
Now for the added features, you are going to have to beg, borrow or steal an install disk, the 'features' (or Creative's "buggy" software) is only availaible from one place and that's an 'official' disk.
There is a 'beta' driver availaible from Creative, you download it and it for some reason does not install (more buggy software), you can take the downloaded driver apart with WinRAR and inside is a folder named 'driver'. Provided your card is seen by windows you force this driver (from your device manager-update driver-choose a location)steering windoze to look in that driver folder.

  • Soundblaster Live! CT4620 - what driver to install for Windows XP P

Please can someone help me? I've upgraded from Windows 98SE to Windows XP Pro and need to install a driver for my Soundblaster Li've! CT4620. I tried to install one driver and it says "The Windows operating system is not supported" and the install exits. I'm stuck! What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi Nick,
The CT4620 is the original SB Li've! card. You should be able to install the Li've driver unipack:
    Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe
It's available under Support> Download (just select "SB Li've!" in the product list).

  • Need SoundBlaster Live! Digital (Dell) Driv

I am having a very difficult time with SoundBlaster Li've! Digitial (Dell) drivers. I have a soundblaster li've model SB0203 installed on my dell dimension 4550 running windows 2000. I was originally running winxp, but when I installed win2000, dell does not have drivers for it.
I downloaded the appropriate Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe from creative, but when I run it, it goes through the extraction process and then I get the following error:
Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audio card on your system.
Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program.
    Setup will now exit.
    Please help. MC

you need the dell drivers...i think they offer them on this site, but they prolly won't work, like a lot of software on here...if dell has drivers on their site for you card that work on xp, then d/l them and install them on 2000...that is what i meant originally, or if you have the original drivers on a cd that would be better...

  • Soundblaster Live not recognized on new MCE 2005 OS - don't have original d

For some reason, my new MCE 2005 OS doesn't recognize the Soundblaster Li've card which is about 2 or 3 years old. It shows in Device Manager as Other Devices? Multimedia Audio Controller. When I try to install the Li'veDrvUni-Pack, I get the error message that I don't have a Soundblaster card installed. I don't have the original driver disk, so I'm not sure what to do at this point. It's the Retail Soundblaster Li've card. Thanks again for any help.Message Edited by acribb on 2-07-20060:50 AM

Ok got it working. I went into Device Manager and manually pointed the device to the cd and it successfully found the drivers and installed them. It works fine now. I had just forgotten how to do that, since it has been so long since my last OS install. Thanks for everyone's help. P.S. - Creative should still post up the original discs and drivers on their Support page, ones that work right out of the box.

  • Soundblaster Live X-Gamer (ct47

I don't have my original driver installation anymore.
When i downloaded the drivers from the website, it gave me the 'cannot find soundblaster hardware error'
I was able to get the card to play sound by using winzip to open the driver .exe.
However, this only allows me to have working sound. The Gameport does not function when installed this way.
Attempts to install "Creative Game Port" driver after installing the driver that makes sound work only creates a "!" entry in my device manager and does not work.
Any suggestions on how I can get it to play sound and have the gameport work?
    Thanks in advance,
    justin

    Marc4ucb,
Test your speakers with a different audio source such as a portable CD player. Replace the cable connected to your sound card, and connect it to the test source such as a portable CD player or portable MP3 player.

  • ALsa + Soundblaster Live 5.1 + 5.1 Sound

    HI there!
I finally bought a 5.1 Surround System today, but I have a major problem. Only the Subwoofer, Fron-Left- and Front-Right-Speakers are working, no Sound from Center, Surround-Left- and Surround-Right-Speakers
Here is my modules.conf, Alsa-Page says it should work:
    # module : ALSA
    alias char-major-116 snd
    alias snd-card-0 snd-emu10k1 snd_cards_limit=1
    options snd-emu10k1 snd_index=0 snd_id="EMU10K1" snd_extout=0x1f0f
    # OSS/Free portion

    And now my .asounrc

I tried so much already and nothing works
I played around with alsamixer and I finally got the Center-Speaker to work, but it just works instead of the Front-Left-Speaker. It really sucks.
Maybe you can help me, it would be nice.

i had some same issues , but i have soundblaster live 24-bit , but disabling the onboard bios didnt do anything for me , so i had to look for some ways to figure out how to fix this , * love thy google.com/linux *
bash# speaker-test -c6 -t2 ( this is to test your surround speakers , providing your using ca0106 driver such as myself )
if you only get a few channels you could also make your ~/.asoundrc file with some goodies in it  ill post a few examples i have found

  • Fixed my crackling, popping Soundblaster Live 5.1 Wi

I have had just about all the bad things happen with my soundcard since my reformat of my computer last week. I wanted to do this because my speakers were crackling extremely bad in Half-Life 2. So bad , that I haven't gotten past the first level on this $90.00 Collectors edition game. Problems I ran into trying to install this card.
. Downloaded Uni-driver pack from website= no soundblaster card found
    2. Using my original cd= mixer failed in creative diagnostics (2 other ones failed but I can't recall what they were)
    3. Using the CTzapp.exe ( not sure of the spelling) on the disk=hardware failed on creative diagnostics
    4. Used Kx drivers= sounded great but had a hard time adjusting mic for Teamspeak
    5. Install would get to 95% then reboot my computer for some reason
    6. Crackling sound in Half-Life 2 and in other games, etc.
I think you are getting the picture. I used driver cleaner each time I tried something new. Installed drivers in safe mode. Tinkered with all the settings. Changed IRQ settings in Bios. Changed pci slot the card was in. Was about to give up, but I still had one more option left to try. My friend has a soundblaster Li've 5. card also. I thought I would try his cd. Guess what? It worked.
I noticed during the install, his cd would get done installing the drivers and then it would say updating direct x drivers. Mine never got this far. Also his cd would get all the way done and then ask me to reboot. So I rebooted and low and behold, eveything works. All Creative tests pass, and everything seems good.
Got to thinking, and looking. The uni-driver is dated Feb of 2003. The driver from my cd, when looking in device manager would say June ( 6th I believe) of 2003. His driver says August 28th, 2003. version 5.2..296. I think this is the driver people should try to find if they experience crackling or popping sounds. So far it seems to be working great. Half-li've 2 is crackle free, where as before my computer sounded like a bowl of Rice Crispies.
Anyway I was wondering why the uni-driver is dated older than both drivers on our cds? Also is there a place where maybe users here can download the driver with the 5.2..296 version number on it's It worked great for me. Good luck out there.

I've been struggling with Flash9d.ocx crashes and random BSODsfor a month or so now when playing online videos (youtube, etc) andwhen my daughter plays online flash enabled games. SometimesI've even had BSODs when the pc was just sitting there !!?Turns out the problem was due to a "bum" Soundblaster Li've! 24-bit"driver being distributed via Windows update. After a long night of disabling just about everything on the PCand then one-by-one re-enabling things, I have traced my problemto the SoundBlaster Li've 24-bit driver. I recently updated this driver via Windows Update to a version released in Jul-07(I forget the exact version number).
When I dropped the driver back to the version which came on the OEM diskswith my PC, my problem cleared up. I. am now running version 5.2..35with a date of Jun-9-2004 without an issue. Hope this hel
    ps.

  • SoundBlaster Live! 24 and Vista - Deteriorating Sound Qual

I've recently upgraded to Vista Business, and my system informs me that except for the drivers for an ancient scanner all is working properly.
When playing music (using a Creative SB Li've 24bit card with the most recent driver installed), all starts off well (in fact playback is better than under XP Pro) but the sound quality starts to deteriorate badly, especially when I open a browser. Quite often the browser itself seems to freeze.
    I have 3Gb RAM, with a 3.60Ghz P4 processor.
Task Manager tells me that often I am running at 00% of CPU capacity, though the problem seems to occur at lower usage too.
I've checked everything I know to check but just can't seem to get to the root of the problem. Can anyone suggest anything I should be looking at?

    Sadly no real progress.
I simply pulled the Soundblaster Live 24 out of the computer and am using the onboard sound instead which at least for me Arch recognized just fine.
I haven't been able to get any suggestions for why the Soundblaster was not working, but I am going to try another sound card a friend lent me and see what happens.

  • MSI K9N DIAMOND CA0106 chipset AUDIGY or SOUNDBLASTER LIVE 24

I have 2 PC's one with an MSI K8N SLI PLATINUM mobo with onboard SOUNDBLASTER 24bit li've (CA006)
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=69&maincat_no=&cat 2_no=&cat3_no=
This system has run fine for over 2-/2 years now with no troubles it was connected to my PIONEER VSX 86 via SPDIF/toslink? and has excellent sound and performed all that I wanted including DTS DVD's and all my music video clips, DIVX movies etc etc
The trouble is, I have just setup my new system
MSI K9N DIAMOND also with the onboard Creative sound (CA006) and comes supplied with the Creative Audigy disc
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=028&maincat_no=&ca t2_no=7
When I try to install the drivers/setup disc it tells me that there is no Audigy onboard/installed? I have managed to install the drivers/disc from the previous soundblaster li've 24bit, It does work with the Audigy goldmine demo and has all channels of sound as it should but in the Surround mixer speaker settings it will only sound out 2 speakers even when it shows all 5. as it is currently configured
I have tried to download many other drivers with no luck
My main concern is the creative programs from my old system are not what I want, I paid for an AUDIGY setup not LIVE
Is it possible to get the AUDIGY onboard running as it should (showing AUDIGY in hardware manager, not LIVE 24bit)
I would like to be able to run the newer software from the AUDIGY disc but it is not compatible when the LIVE drivers are installed
I have had one set of drivers display AUDIGY in the hardware manager but when I tried to use the speaker settings etc it fails and says soundcard not found even though it clearly shows AUDIGY drivers are installed
I have been very happy with the creative sound so far on my first MSI system but I'm not very impressed with this setup and I'm still not sure who's fault it is MSI or CREATIVE?
Can someone give me some details as to what is going on here, I would like to know if it is also possible to use some kind of new software/programs for the soundblaster LIVE that has maybe more settings/functions or just a later better style as I may have to use the same on my new system
The menu's etc in my new manual (K9N DIAMOND) look almost identical to those included with the K8N SLI, The disc included with the K9N DIAMOND has an AUDIGY quick start program/demo which gives you a preview/guide on how to use the supposed AUDIGY which has all new menu's, layout and features which im unable to use?
As mentioned I have used the soundblaster 24bit LIVE for well over 2 years now connected to my PIONEER VSX86 via a digital cable so all the previous settings etc have been compared and doublechecked but im unable to find answers, If I am unable to find help or any way to install the AUDIGY as im meant to have I may resort to fitting another soundcard and I may got to another brand unfortunately
    Any help appreciated

If I am right the onboard Audigy on the MSI K9N Diamond utilizes the CA006 chip instead of the EMU0k2, therefore it is not a real/genuine Audigy soundcard. In fact it's the same as your former soundblaster li've 24bit which also utilizes the same CA006 chipset. That's why you can use the driver from the SB li've 24bit for your new "Audigy" onboard sound. Also there are other soundcards that are not genuine Audigy soundcards: Audigy Se, Audigy LS and, yes, also the X-fi Xtreme Audio, all utilizing the same chip, CA006. Creative Labs use some marketing techniques, add some different (newer) software/apps for the soundcard and give the soundcard (with the same chipset) a different name. In my opinion, if you for example buy a X-fi Xtreme Audio you in fact for the most part paid for the included newer softwares (which for example add "X-fi features like Crystalizer etc.).
If you really want a better soundcard, maybe go for the X-fi XtremeMusic or XtremeGamer which utilizes the genuine EMU20K chip (with hardware acceleration). The soundquality is significantly higher than the soundcards with the CA006 chip.
As for the drivers for the soundcard:
Official Creative Labs driver for Sound Blaster? Audigy? Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've!? 24-bit audio devices
    Good luck!

  • How can I move clips from one library to another? Clips are still in original drive and not in new drive.

I am using iMovie 10.0.7 on a 1-week old iMac 27" running Yosemite 10.10.2. I migrated from iMovie 9 on a 2008 iMac running Snow Leopard and updated the libraries and events, etc.
I have two external drives connected via USB. I want to move / consolidate the library and clips from one of the external drives to the new iMac's 3TB fusion drive. This is to make room on the external drive to run Time Machine backups.
Apple's instructions on managing libraries and moving/copying clips/events tell me to drag to move between libraries and to Option-drag to copy. However, simply dragging only copies. I find that if I Command-drag the events/clips, I can "move" them. But when I look outside iMovie in the Mac OS X Finder, the event folders and clip files themselves are still sitting in the original drive.
I'm very perplexed as to how to really move the clips and event structure. Should I manually copy the clips and event folder structure outside of iMovie? I worry I will mess up iMovie's internal record keeping and folder structure information.
    Thanks in advance.

Ahh, Ok. I actually had to go to Lynda.com to watch a training video of this highly bassackwards maneuver, but now I have it. In other words, while the intuitive thing is to make a new event to hold the clip you want and then open the old event and drag the clip into it's new event, the only way to accomplish this maneuver is to NOT create a new event, but rather, go to the clip AFTER the one you want to move, select it and then Right-Click on it and select SPLIT EVENT BEFORE SELECTED CLIP (or go to FILE>SPLIT EVENT BEFORE SELECTED CLIP). Then you wait a few seconds while the program thinks a bit (no feedback it is doing this - just a pause) and then it automatically creates a new event with the clip you wanted. Now just double-click the new event and name it something meaningful.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Fresh install of Windows 7 after hard drive failure: recovery key used on original drive no longer works?

I just had my hard drive replaced recently after it starting giving boot warnings about impending failure. The IT department at my uni replaced the drive, loaded their standard Win7 install, and restored all of my documents and files. Booting Mozilla for the first time on that install, I had all of my bookmarks, setting, passwords, etc. already there (FF even gave me the dialog to restore the last session before the drive replacement.)
But, since their install is awful (tons of bloatware, obnoxious account management and admin privileges, etc.), I decided to go about putting my own copy of 7 on just as I want it. Having learned my lesson with my Sync account last time I did this, I checked to make sure that I still had the recovery key from the original drive/installation (not the IT install.) Now, when I try to use my recovery key, Sync says it's the wrong one, and that "your Recovery Key has been changed with another device." I haven't touched the Key since I first generated it, so what exactly happened? Did Sync auto-generate another key from the IT installation without telling me, and now all my Sync data is completely lost?

Do you still have the signons.sqlite and key3.db files from the IT setup?
You can find the sync account password and the sync (recovery) key in the password manager on computers where a sync account with a specific e-mail address has been set up.
    Look for:
    * chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Password)
    * chrome://weave (Mozilla Services Encryption Passphrase)

  • Help! SB Live! 5.1 driver problems - IDE controllers stop work

Hi. I've owned my SB Li've! 5. card since 200 and it has worked perfectly until now. I had to recently reformat my harddri've, and i had lost my original driver cd-rom disk so i downloaded the SB Li've! 5. driver off this website. When i reformatted my HD everything worked fine until i installed the downloaded SB driver. When i installed the drivers & restarted my PC, my DVD-ROM and CD-writer stopped working completely. I went into Windows control panel Device Manager and the problem seems to be that my Primary and Secondary IDE Controllers aren't working. It says i need to "restart my computer for this device to work properly". Well, i've restarted my PC about a hundred times since then but its still screwed.
I have several times even tried reformatting my harddri've and re-installing the drivers again, but the same problem keeps happening. I can install my graphics card drivers etc. in any order using my DVD-ROM, but the moment i install the SB Li've! drivers my DVD-Rom & CD-writer stops working. I have used my SB card in this same PC w/ virtually the EXACT same hardware & software setup (and Windows version) etc. since i bought my PC, so nothing has really changed.
    P.S. I am using Windows 98SE.

I don't really see much link in IDE controller with the sound card. Have you try updating the mainboard chipset driver that's controlling the IDE controller.

  • Problem with DTT3500 soundset and onboard Soundblaster live! 24-bit

    Hi,
I have bought a new PC with an MSI k8n sli platinum MB. this mainboard has a built in soundblaster live!24-bit chip onboard. it works great on headphones and normal 2 set speakers (analog connection).
however, when I try to set them up at the DTT3500 speaker set, trouble begins.
before continuing, just want to say First that my older PC is standing next to it, with a Soundblaster live! 5.1. If I connect with this PC to my speaker set, via the digital uitput, everythin works great. (5.1 surround).
In the DTT3500 manual, when Digital DIN is blinking, it says it isn't recieving any signal, or not the right one (like AC-3). (I know this when on my old PC when I switch to headphones, the digital din is then blinking, which is normal as I disabled Digital output in Windows)
    now my questions:
Is this digital port is ac-3 signal or somthing else on the Soundblaster live! 24-bit?
Do I need to use another type of cable, like SPDIF Din Cable? (I now have a minijack to Din cable)
I tried with optical, it works, but only with 2 speakers (left and right / digital output is on). is this normal? If i look at the manual, it's typical used for gameconsoles with stereo left and right. I guess this is so with the DDT3500 decoder...?
if I try Digital Din on the Decoder, it doesn't work. the Decoder Led keeps blinking. Yet in Windows, digital output is on and 5.1 speakers is selected.
In short, exact the same setup on the Decoder and PC as my older PC.
My guess is the the soundblaster live! 24-bit is an enhanced version of the soundblaster live! 5.1? Am I wrong, I don't know....
I do know that the reviews said you could use the digital port (orange one)
    here is a picture:
    http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/reviewimage.php?id=05boardnf4sli00microstak8nslipt0104&file=panel.jpg
and here more info on it: http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/review.php?id=05boardnf4sli00microstak8nslipt0204
I would apreciate any help, as i'm really stuck at the moment.

does anybody use the soundblaster live! 24-bit to  power a surround speaker set? or is it just impossible? (for gaming)

  • Soundblaster live gameport not working on k7n2 delta-L

i have a k7n2 delta-L motherboard and i installed a soundblaster live sound card and can not get the game port to work at all. first i thought it was a bad card so i installed a different card and the same thing so ithen thought it was the game controller and tried a different one and it didnt work either . and yes i disabled the on board sound in the bios before installing the card. i have it in ide slot #3. seems to be the best to go with .i am running win 98 se. and all my drivers are up to date. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

    fourhooffarms,
In the BIOS Disable the onboard Realtek Sound and then put the Live! in PCI Slot 3 or 4, then set the IRQ of that Slot to IRQ5.
Also list all your IRQs and every Device on each IRQ.
    Take Care,
    Richard
P.S. Do list the specs on your Power Supply too.
