Soundblaster Live - Popping problem - solved on my sys

I found away to eliminate the popping on my Soundblaster Li've that I have not seen posted.
I tried almost all the other suggestions and [size="3" face="Times New Roman">accidentally did this:
Windows Start Menu> Program list>Creative>Soundblaster>Creative Diagnostics - DO TESTS. After TEST have finished, then go to TEST SPEAKERS, when at TEST SPEAKERS, I changed the setting from "2 Speakers" to "5. Speakers" and then hit TEST. All popping immediately stopped. Speakers tested fine with no more noise what so ever?- I only have a 2 speaker system. When I put it back on "2 speakers" or even "4 speakers" the popping returned.

I upgraded my MBP15 to 10.5 on Friday. Last night, I was working on a draft that I had saved on my IMAP account. For some reason, I changed the "send" account to .Mac and the program quit. Then I got a message that I had never seen before about "resetting to factory settings" or something like that. The program would then open up, made new drafts for every minute I had worked on the message, 12:06 - 12:26. It would quit every five drafts or so, and then I would open it up after the "reset" message. By the time it was done quitting, 192 drafts were stored "On My Mac." At some point during this whole fiasco, I did see the "append" error several times.
I finally got the program stable and sent my message. I heard the "swoosh," but it did not save in the "sent folder." I made sure that, in fact, there still was only one "sent" folder for the IMAP account and tested it by sending an IMAP to .Mac test. Sure enough, it sent without saving a copy in the sent folder. The same problem happens with 10.5 on an iMac G5, but it's all good on my 10.4 mini G4.
Perhaps this has something to do with the Daylight savings mix-up. I've been using .Mac webmail this morning, and it adjusted back to standard time already.

SoundBlaster Live! problem with mixer..

Ok this is what happens. WHen I click on the Creative Surround Mixer, a window pops up and says "there is no mixer detected in the system. mixer will now exit." Now if I restart the computer, it works again, but only for like -2 hours. Before, I would reinstall the whole hing with the DrvUniPack and it would fix the problem for 5-6 months. Now it doesnt matter, same thing happens. Any suggestions?

Crack'N'pop problem Solved (at least on my syst

Just got my new system, which came with a X-fi extreme gamer. Had the standard crack'n'pop issues, and came to this forum. I was able to get it resolved temporerily by selecting bit matched playback, which wasn't an acceptable solution.
I now?have a permenant fix, it was completely by accident I discoved this, but the card now works perfectly. I hope this helps in tracking down the problem, and that it fixes it for other people too.
After I installed my guitar recording interface drivers the problem just went away. The interface I use is here, its a great product.

You can try downloading the line 6?drivers and installing them even if you don't have the device, since the x-fi?it works for me even when the line 6 device isn't plugged in.

it probably installs a mp3 codec which is faster then the default one in windows
I installed ffdshow set of codecs, and set it to play mp3 with libmp3 which is probably faster then the windows one

Soundblaster live 24bit problem

in all the programs for dj's like BPM, VIRTUAL DJ & Tracktor Dj
when i configure the two cards on the decks and play a song
on the right or on the left, the song play to fast

Ive been wanting to set up a new system based of this same motherboard, but all the power supplies Ive found so far have either been brands Im not familiar enough with or I havent been able to find a definitive answer on if the power supply supports that -5V pin(usually both, unfortunately). Can anyone point me in the right direction for a PSU under US$100? Any suggestions of power supplies anyone has had success with will also be greatly appreciated.

I double checked the diamond forum link (it gave a link not found page the first time), I did get to see what was posted there, but since most online retailers and manufacturer websites dont give the best view of the main connector, thats not alot of help. The only websites Im comfortable ordering from also do not evne carry the suggested power supplies, or any other unit by those manufacturer.

I double checked on NewEgg (and then double checked FrozenCPU.com), and I found one from OCZ that doesnt totally blow my goal of USD100 or less out of the water. Lists a -5v supply, and is 24 pin for the motherboard:

Same thing for 129.99 on FCPU, which is where Ill be ordering the power supply from.
I dont have any real need for the onboard adjustment dials of the more expensive series, and I really like the modular PSU design, not to mention the blue color scheme will work well in my blue-illuminated case.
Now, are there any other hurdles I need to be aware of?

Problem with DTT3500 soundset and onboard Soundblaster live! 24-bit

Hi,
I have bought a new PC with an MSI k8n sli platinum MB. this mainboard has a built in soundblaster live!24-bit chip onboard. it works great on headphones and normal 2 set speakers (analog connection).
however, when I try to set them up at the DTT3500 speaker set, trouble begins.
before continuing, just want to say First that my older PC is standing next to it, with a Soundblaster live! 5.1. If I connect with this PC to my speaker set, via the digital uitput, everythin works great. (5.1 surround).
In the DTT3500 manual, when Digital DIN is blinking, it says it isn't recieving any signal, or not the right one (like AC-3). (I know this when on my old PC when I switch to headphones, the digital din is then blinking, which is normal as I disabled Digital output in Windows)
now my questions:
Is this digital port is ac-3 signal or somthing else on the Soundblaster live! 24-bit?
Do I need to use another type of cable, like SPDIF Din Cable? (I now have a minijack to Din cable)
I tried with optical, it works, but only with 2 speakers (left and right / digital output is on). is this normal? If i look at the manual, it's typical used for gameconsoles with stereo left and right. I guess this is so with the DDT3500 decoder...?
if I try Digital Din on the Decoder, it doesn't work. the Decoder Led keeps blinking. Yet in Windows, digital output is on and 5.1 speakers is selected.
In short, exact the same setup on the Decoder and PC as my older PC.
My guess is the the soundblaster live! 24-bit is an enhanced version of the soundblaster live! 5.1? Am I wrong, I don't know....
I do know that the reviews said you could use the digital port (orange one)

Problems installing soundblaster live

I just bought a kt4 ultra I am trying to install a soundblaster live sound card, I go to the bios and disable the audio on board option, but when windows xp starts it recognizes the sound card but then it hangs, any help to fix this is much appretiated. thanks

Lock up but no cooling problem solved

Hi,
Here is an experience I'd like to share with others. Just about a month ago, I asked for help on this board because my PC locked up while PC-alert gave a CPU-temperature of only 53 degrees and a system temp of only 32 degrees.
I tried lot's of thing. bought and installed the best coolers, changed processor and more....
Now I seem to have found what the trouble was. I had a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 installed. I always had a slight problem with this card because since I installed this, I could not choose for hibernation or stand by the system because of a system lock up.
Well last week-end I removed the SB soundcard and all problems seem to be solved. I Just got my CPU temp up to 56 degrees (This took me 45 minutes of 100 % usage) and the system remained stable.
So if there are any other people having this same experience or trouble like this.
For people who have a look a like problem and want to cpmpare.
My configuration is:
MSI K7T Turbo R (KT133a)
AMD XP1800+
2 * 256 MB Kingston CL 3
Arctic CPU Cooler
Enermax 400 W powersupply

KT3 Ultra-ARU SB Live! problem when using onboard Promise MBFasttrak 1

I have one little problem with my motherboard. I know it's a little bit older compared to today's MSI production.. I have a MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU motherboard. I used only VT8233A southbridge's IDE until now, and everything worked perfectly. But now, I bought two Maxtor 80GB disks and placed them to a onboard Promise MBFasttrak 133 Lite (PDC20276) RAID in stripping mode. Everything works, except Soundblaster Live!. The soundcard itself works normally, but when I start to copy some files (and have some MP3's or video's running) the audio gets distorted in rythm with data transfer. I checked IRQs or address spaces, but IDE is on another IRQ than any other device, the same is address space. Had anyone the same experience with this "problem" ? Please let me know...

WiFi connection problem solved

My intel iMac and MBA had no problem but iPods 3g and 5g did. I had an old Netgear router connected and sitting next to my Airport Express. On a hunch I diconnected the Netgear and created a guest network to replace the one on the Netgear. PROBLEM SOLVED!
Evidently our iPods and boarder's iPhone had problems sorting out the signals and finding the right addresses. Moving the AE to a higher and slightly more central position also helped.

Same here on a Vodafone PocketWiFi 2.
Tried NetworkManager, wicd, wifi-menu but all have the same issue.
I recently installed Aptosid on another machine and it has the same problem... It also has kernel version 3.9.
All the live CDs I've tried work, even an Arch CD from May works, though a current install does not.
I have no problems connecting to another (wpa2 enterprise) network yet can't on this 3G modem.
I'm hoping this isn't a permanent issue and perhaps an update very soon will fix this.
It seems the only way to fix this for now is to use an old version of Linux. I'm currently running a virtual machine only for the purpose of Internet sharing, very annoying.

I finally bought a 5.1 Surround System today, but I have a major problem. Only the Subwoofer, Fron-Left- and Front-Right-Speakers are working, no Sound from Center, Surround-Left- and Surround-Right-Speakers

I played around with alsamixer and I finally got the Center-Speaker to work, but it just works instead of the Front-Left-Speaker. It really sucks.

SoundBlaster Live! 24 and Vista - Deteriorating Sound Qual

I've recently upgraded to Vista Business, and my system informs me that except for the drivers for an ancient scanner all is working properly.
When playing music (using a Creative SB Li've 24bit card with the most recent driver installed), all starts off well (in fact playback is better than under XP Pro) but the sound quality starts to deteriorate badly, especially when I open a browser. Quite often the browser itself seems to freeze.
I have 3Gb RAM, with a 3.60Ghz P4 processor.
Task Manager tells me that often I am running at 00% of CPU capacity, though the problem seems to occur at lower usage too.
I've checked everything I know to check but just can't seem to get to the root of the problem. Can anyone suggest anything I should be looking at?

Sadly no real progress.
I simply pulled the Soundblaster Live 24 out of the computer and am using the onboard sound instead which at least for me Arch recognized just fine.
I haven't been able to get any suggestions for why the Soundblaster was not working, but I am going to try another sound card a friend lent me and see what happens.

EMAIL Problem Solved!! Sending works on Roadrunner

I'm on a Roadrunner account. It has been impossible to send email when I switch to the Edge network.
Problem solved!
Go to www.fastmail.fm and sign up for the "Member" level of service. It's a ONE TIME charge of $14.95. Not a big deal and you never have to pay it again. Now you enter in their smtp server address and authenticate with your new name and password. When the iPhone switches networks, it no longer matters!
I know this involves paying a fee to get it to work. But it's the only way I have found to be able to use your own address to send and receive on Roadrunner. The gMail work around is fine but it's not the same as sending from your address that everyone knows.

spam and reject sending email.
the easiest fix, and by far the cheapest (because it
is free) is to simmply put in at&t's wireless smtp
server info. under smtp server put in wcmx.com and
leave username and password blank. that's all you
have to do, and you odn't have to worry about being
in an area where roadrunner rejects email.
This works if you are on the Edge network outside a RR wifi connection. Once back to your home or office, you will not be able to send mail.
The only options are:
Create two accounts for each mail account--one with the RR info and one with the edge info. When you want to send a message, you send via the one that is currently connected.
or
Use an smtp server from fastmail.fm (or other) that will let you authenticate to send mail. Use that server as your outgoing mail server for POP accounts. It works, I'm using it now.

Problem in login with sys

i have a problem in login with sys, the situation as follows:
1- when i try to connect using : sqlplus "/as sysdba" or "sys/password as sysdba" it connect me to the DB.
2- when i try to connect : sqlplus "sys/password@MYDB as sysdba" it gives me "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied".
3- when i try to connect with another user i.e : sqlplus "system/password@MYDB" it connect me to the DB.
DB version : 9.2.0.8
OS version : Solaris 10
please advice...

the missing thing in your example is the fact, that if only one value is selected, the parameter has exact this value like BOSTON. If you choose more than one value, the parameter includes the *'*, so that it looks like *'BOSTON','NEW YORK'*. So you need to check in the package, if there's a *,* in the parameter or not. If yes there's more than one value, if not it's only one value or it's null.
