SoundBlaster Live! Value Probl

I just purchased this product, it was OEM and came with no software, it all installed OK, I managed to download the drivers and install them, but im having some problems. In winamp, if i fast forward somewere in the track, the track will skip forward and backwards really fast and then winamp will crash. In Battlefield 2, some sounds work, some sounds dont, ie gun fire works, but the sound of vehicle engines dont. And in Half-Life mods, I get absolutely no sound at all when hardware support is enabled. Also when I try to install "<!--StartFragment -->AC3 fix for SPDIF" it just says it cannot detect my sound card when i try to install it. Can someone help me? Just to note, none of the problems with games or Winamp happened when I was using onboard sound. Thanks.

Alright as in my user rights according to Sound Blaster i am entitled to my own opinion.
Creative and Sound blaster have serverally tainted their repuation with this number. I absolutely hate everything about Soundblaster u can amagine of, Starting with ther support system that hasnt being updated since 2003 to the Auto update system that doesnt even seem to work, im starting to believe that Creative and Soundblaster are pehaps some form of hippie organisation rather than a corporate entitlement. With their lack of assistant and their "laizee-fair" approach to everything.
So far i have experienced no sound for 6 months as along with many other member of this community and broader communities that i have touched on. One day it just all dissapeared when i was patching the Soundblaster recorder. I have tried everything from reseating the driver and expansion slots by opening the side of the computer, to the settings dealing with the volume controls and the mixer settings, from running sfc /scannow to scan for any missing files that windows or creative might have deleted in its process of doing what ever it does. I am staarting to lose hope in any decent support from creative than script generated emails.

  • Soundblaster live value cannot install at

    Hi
I have recently bought a new PC that has onboard sound, however i want a full duplex soundcard for chatting over the net.
I had a soundblaster li've value in my old pc which i thought would do the trick so installed it but i cannot get any sound at all from it...the old soundcard is from 2000 but worked ok in my old pc
This is what i have done
. Changed the BIOS from EDB to PCI bus for audio
    2. Disabled AC 97 sound in Bios(which i presume is to disable the audio onboard)
    3. Set IRQ 5 to legacy as per the common problems on this site
    4. Installed the soundblaster unidrv pack downloaded from this site.
    5. Installed the creative play center then upgrade to 3
With the drivers installed the hardware is recognised and even diagnostics says all components are available but i get zero sound, not even the crackle when you plug/unplus the speaker jacks at any point. If i try to run the speaker test it causes the pc to freeze, which i have tried several times, both before and after a cleansweep installation sequentially . The my system.hardware says i have the soundblaster components correctly installed and they are working fine, just no sound. As soon as i take it out and switch back to my onboard sound i have no problems.
i have also noticed i get a error when i try to view the properties on the lmedia control devices option...the program shuts down rather than freezes which has only happened since i tried using the soundblaster as far as i remember, and then the whole device manager crashes
My system is a Athlong 64 bit 3400+ on a Winfast K8S motherboard
If this card is not compatible then what sound card would work with no problems (ie a more modern one)
I have read all the help on this site on these messages but nothing seems to work...is their something obvious i am missing?

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, Dell doesn't have any updates for me. I have a Dimension XPS B series computer and they don't offer any updates for SoundBlaster Li've! cards on their site. I just wish I could run the driver update file from the SoundBlaster website (DrvUniPac). It begins extracting but then says there is no SoundBlaster Product on my system, and then closes. As I mentioned before I tried the Auto Update from the SoundBlaster website and it detects the SoundBlaster Li've! Value card on my system and says that it is up to date. Why doesn't the driver update recognize my sound card?

  • Soundblaster live value vs soundblaster 7.1 24

Just bought from walmart a soundblaster li've 7. 24bit card to upgrade my 4 year old sound blaster li've value card thats 5. i think. but after a little research it seems the value card is 32 bit's so i actualy downgraded? or did i really upgrade?

The 32bit part of what you read in relation to your old card, is that the card operates in 32bit , just like most other things inside your computer, unless you have like the newer 64 bit cpu's.
As for the 24bit, in the Li've! 24bit card, the card i assume still operates in 32bit,
however, the card supports and can record 24bit sound files.
Your older card would have only been able to support 6bit sound,
cds till recently for example were only 6bit, however nowadays you can start to see cds come out in 24bit format.
Hope that clears up some things for you lol, basically, the 32bit, is to do with how the card transmits data,
24 bit is is to do with sound, and the way it is encoded.
To answer your question, Soundblaster li've value vs soundblaster 7. 24bit ,
In my opinion the 7. 24bit is better, as it has, and supports newer technology such asEAX HD, 24bit sound.

  • Problem updating drivers for soundblaster live value CT4

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me, i have a creative soundblaster li've value sound card model no. CT4780 it's about 4yrs old and i am trying to update the driver as the last one to go on it was in 2002. I have been trolling the creative website and downloaded the automatic update driver search but when it finishes it says i have the most current update for my card. I have had a look at the Li'veDrvUni-pack and being a bit of a novice to driver installing i was wondering if that one would be okay for me to download and install. Would appreciate any help.....

    Hi Shrek
I just listed my first post. I bought a dell Dimension XPS T500 in 999. It used a CT4780 that fed a good Altec Lansing speaker system. When I built my present budget PC I used the old CT4780 card. Because I?am using XP Pro I loaded Li'veDri'veUni-Pack.exe driver (released 280203). This worked fine.
But I do not have the SPDIF working as yet. My MSI? MS-6533XG?Motherboard does have?header pins for SPDIF but?so far I haven't used them. I am looking for drivers to use if I can get the SPDIF connected.
Do you have any info?on my needs?
    Thanks

  • Soundblaster Live Value D

Hello, I have a soundcard from my old Dell system that has the orange digital out, black rear, green front, and the two inputs. I have?a Logitech 5 speaker system (two rears, two fronts, center and sub) so I have the 3 connectprs from that speaker system plugged into the corresponding jacks on the soundcard. I CAN NOT for the life of me get the orange connector to switch over to analog so I can use it for my center channel.. ANY ideas on how to get this to work... I have tried SOOO many different versions of drivers and software with NO luck. PLEASE HELP!!? Thanks

The Li've! Value is a 4 channel soundcard, meaning it support up to 4/4. speaker system. As you mention in your post too, that orange jack from the soundcard is a digital out jack. It isn't meant for connecting center/subwoofer.

Any instructions would be helpful. Sorry I can't figure it out........Cheers
You need to extract one of those files --> see ...
    RAR Extraction:
Just select one of them (normally filename.rar.part) and mouse_right_click the file and select "Extract Files" or "Extract To folder-name\". --> unrars and combines all files on same series.

  • Onboard SoundBlaster Live 24bit probl

I just recently got a MSI nforce 4 motherbaord (platinum SLI) with onboard Li've 24bit. It works fine for low quality sound, but if i try and utilise it fully in games, like Halo, then it lags and only plays parts of the sound. I was wondering if it could be that the hardware it not fully accelerated but i'm unsure where to find that option.
I'm running XP with the latest drivers. Please help.
    Cheers, Mcphie

i guess creatives products are just cack then! all i have read on these forums is how people from a variety of different soundcards, experience this pop and crackle noise. but yet, no proper drivers fix for most! and the fix they suggest rarely seem to work. certainly not for me!
quite frankly, im rather anoyed that creative are being allowed to get away with this. i for one will NOT be buying anything in your range again.

  • SoundBlaster Live (value) working properly on XP after having no sound. Digital out

I recently did a reformat and install of everything on my XP pc. I knew that the Sound Blaster Li've would be tricky to get going again, and it was. I installed the most recent drivers from this (Creative) website and it just didnt work. I messed with every setting possible. ?I did a google search and read that many people have the same issue. Looking through some old files that I had, I came across an older Creative SB XP insall. I installed it and it worked instantly after it rebooted after the install. I then selected digital output as that is what I am using. If anybody is interested in trying this (if you have no sound), you can download the file herehttp://www.sharebigfile.com/file/53478/SBLi'veXPDrvUpdate.exe.html?If link doesnt work, see 3rd message. I upped it to another hosting area.?File is just under 0mb. On that page you will see that you need to enter a 3 or so digit code to download it. It's easy to miss so look carefully toward the bottom.
Let me know if this works for you. if it does, please post back here so that others can determine if they need this.?

  • Which shoul i use? realtek alc 650 or sb live value?

yah i haven't found any decent comparisons or reviews that pit these two sound controllers together and i'm hoping that someone could possibly answer this for me . . .
i have the soundblaster live! value card and there's the realtek alc 650 sound controller on my mobo . . . which one of these two do u guys think is better to use?
can someone compare the two? like which one uses more cpu load, sound quality, etc . . .

Yes ... I am having problems having sound in my video capture ... I downloaded the new SB Live drivers for XP and I found the extraction in my one of the local settings folder.  I've tried different ways to acquire sound in my video captures.
I switched back to the SB Live Value card a few hours ago.
I've got sound now but kind of hit and miss.
I use a Maxtor ATA 133 card and have four ATA 133 60 GB drives sitting on the bottom of my tower. Plus a 40GB and 60GB mounted normallly.  I do use the KT4V-L mobo and the XP 2500-Barton.
HP 9100 cd writer and Sony DRU-500a DVD Burner.
I'm using the LAN on board for DSL.
FANS: One is mounted in back ... I cut the holes out to increase air flow.
Another fan is mounted on side panel ... shooting outside air towards my CPU.
RAM is one stick of Kingston KVR333X64C25/512 DDR Ram
BIOS setting is FSB 166 setting.
System - Mouse hasn't froze up yet ... when it does happen I usually here a small faint sound ... "ping"-"poing" and then the mouse is moves again.  Audio and video playback is also affected when this happens.
I've changed my swap file to one of my 60 GB ATA 133 drives only. Setting is 1000 MB and C-Drive is not included.
I'm really frustated with this freezing up problem.  I've got too many new parts to figure out what is wrong.
WIN XP - KT4V-L MOBO - and new DDR ram are all installed in same time period.
Any suggestions?? ... Mouse hasn't froze up yet after changing Swap file settings.
Have you been to the Black Viper website ???
What do you mean by "Surround Mixer 2" are you refering to the baby blue mixer I saw a few days ago.  I liked the old mixer more.

Someone said about not beeing able to run 3dmark03 sound test with the realtek - right! the SB Live! has 32 hardware voices, can take a much more number of audio inputs (if you have some 5Ghz CPU u can run about 32 winamps at the same time ).
Hmm but you have a VIA... that has problems with SB Live!
I have also, but only in 9x, in XP is working smooth.
About the latency - you can get very close to real time if you install the ASIO drivers but the KK Mixer sucks.

  • SB Live Value on K7N2 Delta L

I've just installed my new system which consists of the following components:
    - K7N2 Delta L
    - XP 1800+ @ 1833 MHz / 333MHz FSB
    - MSI GF FX5600 / 256MB RAM
    - Kingston PC 3500 HyperX (2x 256MB @ dual channel mode)
    - OS: Win2000 / Service Pack 3
    - Soundblaster Live! Value (latest Win2k - drivers)
Everything is running fine but I can hear a strange background noise watching DVDs or Playing Nascar2003.
I imagine that the noise is especially strong when the CPU activity is very high.
The Win2k hardware profile shows that the soundcard and the Display are using the same IRQ (11) but I don't know how to give them seperate IRQs
    Thanks for your help!
    Daniel V.

Raven likely is right - you can narrow this down to 3 possibilities:
    1) The PSU is not strong enough to run a high end proc / mobo / DDR / GF4 FX vid and drives - that sound you here could be all that is left for you sound card to suck and use - that likely is doing damage to your Mobo and Proc - AMD and MSI recommends at least 350W for this reason - the generic PSU don’t have enough amps to push all these devices and the system itself - your choice if you want to damage your system
    2) The IRQ issue worries me too - this means that you likely have assigned IRQ's in your BIOS - therefore this may just be the beginning of your issues - you will likely have Vid Card issues with certain applications and games - I would resolve this issue
    3) What drivers are you running on the Video / Sound cards - try a different driver, if 3rd party - try default - if default - try third party - sometimes a different driver can make all the difference
Note for a XP1800+ runs at 1533mhz not 1833mhz - make sure your BIOS is setup correctly for this - that could also cause you issues unless you have some high end cooling to combat the heat - also check your FSB/ram settings this may also causing some issues
But overall - I think Raven is right - your PSU will be doing more harm than good

  • MSI K9N DIAMOND CA0106 chipset AUDIGY or SOUNDBLASTER LIVE 24

I have 2 PC's one with an MSI K8N SLI PLATINUM mobo with onboard SOUNDBLASTER 24bit li've (CA006)
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=69&maincat_no=&cat 2_no=&cat3_no=
This system has run fine for over 2-/2 years now with no troubles it was connected to my PIONEER VSX 86 via SPDIF/toslink? and has excellent sound and performed all that I wanted including DTS DVD's and all my music video clips, DIVX movies etc etc
The trouble is, I have just setup my new system
MSI K9N DIAMOND also with the onboard Creative sound (CA006) and comes supplied with the Creative Audigy disc
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=028&maincat_no=&ca t2_no=7
When I try to install the drivers/setup disc it tells me that there is no Audigy onboard/installed? I have managed to install the drivers/disc from the previous soundblaster li've 24bit, It does work with the Audigy goldmine demo and has all channels of sound as it should but in the Surround mixer speaker settings it will only sound out 2 speakers even when it shows all 5. as it is currently configured
I have tried to download many other drivers with no luck
My main concern is the creative programs from my old system are not what I want, I paid for an AUDIGY setup not LIVE
Is it possible to get the AUDIGY onboard running as it should (showing AUDIGY in hardware manager, not LIVE 24bit)
I would like to be able to run the newer software from the AUDIGY disc but it is not compatible when the LIVE drivers are installed
I have had one set of drivers display AUDIGY in the hardware manager but when I tried to use the speaker settings etc it fails and says soundcard not found even though it clearly shows AUDIGY drivers are installed
I have been very happy with the creative sound so far on my first MSI system but I'm not very impressed with this setup and I'm still not sure who's fault it is MSI or CREATIVE?
Can someone give me some details as to what is going on here, I would like to know if it is also possible to use some kind of new software/programs for the soundblaster LIVE that has maybe more settings/functions or just a later better style as I may have to use the same on my new system
The menu's etc in my new manual (K9N DIAMOND) look almost identical to those included with the K8N SLI, The disc included with the K9N DIAMOND has an AUDIGY quick start program/demo which gives you a preview/guide on how to use the supposed AUDIGY which has all new menu's, layout and features which im unable to use?
As mentioned I have used the soundblaster 24bit LIVE for well over 2 years now connected to my PIONEER VSX86 via a digital cable so all the previous settings etc have been compared and doublechecked but im unable to find answers, If I am unable to find help or any way to install the AUDIGY as im meant to have I may resort to fitting another soundcard and I may got to another brand unfortunately
    Any help appreciated

If I am right the onboard Audigy on the MSI K9N Diamond utilizes the CA006 chip instead of the EMU0k2, therefore it is not a real/genuine Audigy soundcard. In fact it's the same as your former soundblaster li've 24bit which also utilizes the same CA006 chipset. That's why you can use the driver from the SB li've 24bit for your new "Audigy" onboard sound. Also there are other soundcards that are not genuine Audigy soundcards: Audigy Se, Audigy LS and, yes, also the X-fi Xtreme Audio, all utilizing the same chip, CA006. Creative Labs use some marketing techniques, add some different (newer) software/apps for the soundcard and give the soundcard (with the same chipset) a different name. In my opinion, if you for example buy a X-fi Xtreme Audio you in fact for the most part paid for the included newer softwares (which for example add "X-fi features like Crystalizer etc.).
If you really want a better soundcard, maybe go for the X-fi XtremeMusic or XtremeGamer which utilizes the genuine EMU20K chip (with hardware acceleration). The soundquality is significantly higher than the soundcards with the CA006 chip.
As for the drivers for the soundcard:
Official Creative Labs driver for Sound Blaster? Audigy? Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've!? 24-bit audio devices
    Good luck!

  • Problem with DTT3500 soundset and onboard Soundblaster live! 24-bit

    Hi,
I have bought a new PC with an MSI k8n sli platinum MB. this mainboard has a built in soundblaster live!24-bit chip onboard. it works great on headphones and normal 2 set speakers (analog connection).
however, when I try to set them up at the DTT3500 speaker set, trouble begins.
before continuing, just want to say First that my older PC is standing next to it, with a Soundblaster live! 5.1. If I connect with this PC to my speaker set, via the digital uitput, everythin works great. (5.1 surround).
In the DTT3500 manual, when Digital DIN is blinking, it says it isn't recieving any signal, or not the right one (like AC-3). (I know this when on my old PC when I switch to headphones, the digital din is then blinking, which is normal as I disabled Digital output in Windows)
    now my questions:
Is this digital port is ac-3 signal or somthing else on the Soundblaster live! 24-bit?
Do I need to use another type of cable, like SPDIF Din Cable? (I now have a minijack to Din cable)
I tried with optical, it works, but only with 2 speakers (left and right / digital output is on). is this normal? If i look at the manual, it's typical used for gameconsoles with stereo left and right. I guess this is so with the DDT3500 decoder...?
if I try Digital Din on the Decoder, it doesn't work. the Decoder Led keeps blinking. Yet in Windows, digital output is on and 5.1 speakers is selected.
In short, exact the same setup on the Decoder and PC as my older PC.
My guess is the the soundblaster live! 24-bit is an enhanced version of the soundblaster live! 5.1? Am I wrong, I don't know....
I do know that the reviews said you could use the digital port (orange one)
    here is a picture:
    http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/reviewimage.php?id=05boardnf4sli00microstak8nslipt0104&file=panel.jpg
and here more info on it: http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/review.php?id=05boardnf4sli00microstak8nslipt0204
I would apreciate any help, as i'm really stuck at the moment.

does anybody use the soundblaster live! 24-bit to  power a surround speaker set? or is it just impossible? (for gaming)

    HI there!
I finally bought a 5.1 Surround System today, but I have a major problem. Only the Subwoofer, Fron-Left- and Front-Right-Speakers are working, no Sound from Center, Surround-Left- and Surround-Right-Speakers

bash# speaker-test -c6 -t2 ( this is to test your surround speakers , providing your using ca0106 driver such as myself )
