SoundBlaster Live24 exter

I am having a problem with my recently purchased Soundblaster li've24 external usb card. I can listen to music from external sources and apparently record it but the files are always empty when played back I have reinstalled software and upgraded it via the website to no avail. Anyone got an answer?

2nd Posting.
OK I have the audio coming out of the 2 analog speakers that are connected to the Line Out plug per the instructions.
Issue # is the audio is distorted and mushy sounding
Issue #2 is I have to have the Advanced properties set for quadraphonic (4 ch) in order to get any sound out of the card.
Sounds like Driver issues to me. Have installed the SB24_WEB64_LB__04_0055.exe so my drivers are up to date(?)
This is progress however stumbling.

  • 2.1 speaker setup on the SoundBlaster Live24 Extern

I have a 2. speaker setup but I can not figure out how to configure the Li've24 for 2.

I have a pair of Swans M-200's and a Totem Thunder Subwoofer. I have the Swans plugged into the front L+R output and the Subwooder plugged into the Sub/Center output on the Li've24 external. When I select 2/2. speaker output it only shows me the left and right speakers and the test tone will only produce sound out of the front left and right speakers and not the subwoofer. When I click on the "Bass Managment" tab everything including "Bass Redirect" is greyed out. The only way thus far I have been able to get the subwoofer to work at all is if I select 5. then the test tone will produce sound out of the subwoofer.

  • Live24 Ext ASIO Home Recording

I've just got SB Live24 External USB for few days and start working with Creative USB ASIO on Cubase
The problem is an error message about USB Bandwidth when I increase the value of Sample Rate, Bit.
And when I got this error, I can't get into Creative ASIO USB setting page to change value back lower because the ASIO driver won't load.
The only ways is to Full Format WindowsXP.
I'm sure that I'm using USB 2.0 Port.
Is there the way to reset the value without having to load the ASIO driver?
I want someone's help to tell me which settings is best for my USB Soundblaster Live24,
Both "ASIO value" and "Creative\Device Setting" on Start Menu.
Is it best to not set this USB SB to Windows's default audio device when using ASIO?

I don't know about specific  current laptops, but if you are buying at the moment, my suggestion is to seek out a business machine that is supplied with Vista Business edition, and has XP "downgrade" DVD's included or at least available, and with the option to "upgrade" to Windows 7. That way you should get a machine with the ability and available drivers to run any of the 3 OS's. The availability of XP drivers could be crucial. Vista Business also has vital things like a proper backup application unlike the Home editions.
I don't think many (any?) current machines come with separate internal soundcards, as opposed to the HD Audio and AC97 bodges, so the Tascam device will be important. Beware of any internal audio that professes to have enhanced "Soundblaster" features. This can mean there is a useless, draining software layer on top of the already mediocre internal sound.
Higher rotation speed eg 7200 on the HD is good, although it may be handier to install a better HD yourself and either use the original for a different OS or as an external drive.
You'll probably find that you will spend a lot of time disabling or removing all sorts of unwanted features.
I use several laptops here, mainly Acer and Lenovo. Both these companies have accessible sites for driver updates. The Lenovo machines have both survived structurally - hinges etc. Acer haven't been as good although the most recent one looks sturdier. I regularly use my machines with my US-122 (not L) and various versions of Audition for simple recording, editing and playback, and normally have no problems, even under Vista.

  • SP-DIF 5.1 with the soundblaster Live! Exter

I bought the Soundblaster 5. surround External (http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=&subcategory=206&product=0702 ) to connect my surround receiver (with every standard imaginable, DTS DD DTS:NEO etc) digital with just one coax cable to my laptop. I want to view my movies and dvd with dolby digital on my laptop with the surround setup. I read the faq but just can't find the spdifpasstrough function. So can anyone tell me where to look?

I have the same unit and struggled for 5 hours. There is no optio for spdif output that I could find and you don't need it. It should automatically send the signal. If you are not getting 5. in your receiver then it is another issue, one I posted on avs forum but I'll repeat briefly here. If you have installed cccp or a codec pack that includes ffdshow then that could be your issue. I'm sure there is an option in ffdshow for spdif output but I couldn't find it so I removed it and that solved my problem. Also, make sure you go into your settings in whatever program you are using and click spdif output....also make sure this is selected in your sound settings. Thos solved my problem so I'm hoping it solves yours...if not post here and I'll check back.

  • Soundblaster Live 24bit exter

I bought this card a few months ago and i'm mostly very pleased with it....except for one thing that's driving me potty! I'm a keen mechwarrior 4 mercenaries player and since i bought this card it's been a complete pain in the earholes to play.
Every time there is a sound a distorted "Farty" echo comes quick on it's heels! I've tried everything, new driver install(usb, sound card, mobo drivers the works), clean OS install.
I'm coming to the end of my tether and am seriously considering using a sledge-hammer on the darned thing.
Has anyone got a clue as to why this is happening? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Soundblaster Audigy on MSI K8N Diamond Plus, Sound Linked? vs Audigy2 ZS?

Had a couple of quick questions regarding the Soundblaster Audigy onboard chip on my MSI K8N Diamond Plus.  I have the audio connected to a front panel, and when I try and change the Right or Left speaker volume balance in Windows (by going to volume control and dragging the balance slider right or left), the volume slider goes down and the balance slider snaps back to center.  As in my previous post, I had some damage to my front panel connector pins and wanted to make sure this wasn't a hardware issue requiring a replacement of the board.
Also, I have a Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS card from my previous system, and I was wondering if it added anything the onboard Soundblaster chip doesn't provide.  I was thinking of installing it, but if the onboard audio does everything the card would, I'd rather just use the onboard solution.
    Thanks.

  • Soundblaster Live! 24-bit No Sound Prob

I installed this sound card on my windows xp sp2 comp and it worked fine, I went to install the same soundblaster li've! 24-bit card on my windows 2000 sp4 comp and installation went fine. My problem is I get no sound what so ever on my windows 2000 comp and my windows xp comp did, I tried plugging in different speakers, headphones, and any other audio devices I could find that I know worked(tested on numerous things besides my windows 2000 comp) and nothing works. Driver version is 5.2..34, which came directly off the CD from the retail box that I purchase. I could not find any new drivers for this sound card off Creative's website, so I figure there wasn't any new releases. My sound panel has all my volume controls at 00%, the Creative Surround Mixer has all my volume controls set at 00%, and I know for a fact I have everything plugged in correct(Audio output device plugged into green, mic plugged into blue, nothing in orange or black). Any help would be much appreciated,
    Thanks.
    EDIT: System specs are;
AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 768mb RAM, Radeon 9600xt, FIC motherboard.

    Seventhwind,
Did you check Speaker Settings application and ensure that the Digital Output Only option has not been enabled.
Also disable any onboard audio from the BIOS if any.

  • How to install The Soundblaster Audigy SE in Windows 7 RC?

:How to install The Soundblaster Audigy SE in Windows 7 RC?Y Two days ago I bought a Soundblaster Audigy SE-retail soundcard. I have a dual boot PC with Windows XP-SP3 and Windows 7 RC. The installation of the soundcard?in Windows XP was easy, no problems, good sound.
But how to install in Windows 7 RC ?
I have the installation and applications CD with XP and Vista drivers and I have the driver-download from Creative.com SB24PCDRV LB 0 - 04 - 0090.
Windows 7 tells me "No device for audio output is installed". Windows automaticly?installed a driver, but that doesn't work. (code 39). The driver download from?creative does not install new drivers and when I try it manually Windows tells me "The best driver is already installed"
When I uninstall?the driver that Windows installed and try to install the downloaded?creative driver for Windows 7, the driver will not install, and Windows message is something like "?no audio device is installed on this computer"
What to do ? A computer without sound is nothing...
    Thanks,

    >Re: How to install The Soundblaster Audigy SE in Windows 7 RC?% Meocene is 00% on the money. Dan K.'s pack is the best. I have used the pack on four different systems with AUDIGY LS and SE cards that I bought cheaply (all four on Ebay for $40). The package has worked under XP, Vista, and Windows 7 very well.
I have friends that play Left4Dead and they have been immensely pleased when playing the games in their flats with or without headphones, as compared to their old "onboard RE--t-k" sound.
The package also works well on a Gateway or HP machine when disabling onboard audio first then installing the Audigy and installing drivers and apps for the first time. Gi've up on using your old CDs, you will only run into a mountain of trouble trying to "Auto-Update" all that with the newest patches.

  • SoundBlaster 5.1 not working in Windows 7

)SoundBlaster 5. not working in Windows 7E Hello all, I installed a SoundBlaster 5. VX sound card into my system: A Fujitsu-Siemens Celsius M430, 3.4 GHz Intel processor, 2GB of RAM and a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate (retail version). I initially tried to use the drivers provided on the product CD, which during installation gave me a bluescreen. After reboot, I downloaded the latest drivers for Windows 7 from the CLE website. But still, the drivers seem to not install correctly - I get a message that the SB 5. VX is ready for use, but the speaker symbol still shows a red cross and when I click on it, Windows suggests me to re-install the drivers, which gives me the same results even after rebooting. In the Device Manager, the device has a yellow exclamation mark besides it. Additonally, I may mention that the onboard sound device is a SoundMax onboard system, which I now have disabled. Anyhow, the SounbdBlaster is recognized by CLE AutoUpdate software (but needs no update according to the mesages). I'm a bit thrown up, did anybody encounter the same problems or have a solution yet? Cheers Dennis

I have a subwoofer and 5 speakers (2 for front, 2 for rear, 1 for center)...Philips MMS460 5.1.  Connection to the on-board RealTek HD Audio is simple, orange for the subwoofer, green for front and black for rear.I have already tried downloading the latest drivers from the motherboard manufacturers website,I have tried connecting the subwoofer connectors to different jacks (reversed black and green).
I have experimented with the settings in the RealTek HD Audio Manager and Control Panel->Sound windows.  Nothing works.
These exact same subwoofer and speakers worked perfectly fine in vISTA Home basic
    1. Disconnect the speaker system from the pc rear audio panel
    2. Remove the on-board audio using the "Add or Remove Hardware" option in Control Panel
    3. Reboot the pc, install the driver.  Re-connect the speaker system.
    4. Using the Sound applet found in Control Panel, configure the speakers for surround sound
    5. Reboot the pc.
And now resume all of that ...i have been on Realtek hd audio manager->Speaker configuration set on 5.1 making the test ...EVERITHING WORKS FINE but ...finally when i open for example WINAMP AND PLAY A SONG ....is only  played on front *or stereo..So on what im wrong?

  • How I've Eluded Soundblaster Driver incompatibilities for all these years

Hi I just want to share my experience on Soundblaster. It's been several years since the X-Fi's release. I was then using the original SB li've 5. to my original 53 units of computer in my PC internet and Gaming Shop. All these years I had to replace unit after unit as it grows old and manifest system problems but never would have failed to put soundblaster as a soundcard for that particular new or replaced unit. I have jumped from SB li've 5. to audigy series and then as of now X-Fi extreme music. And so far in my entire life I have never encountered a single problem out of soundblaster not even in a single unit of my PCs. And because Iam puzzled with all the complaints when I visit here. I pity all of you guys and I decided to make this post for a reason that it might help some of you as it had helped me through all my Creative experience years.
Ok here are the some simple steps I've been using and have acquired all these years and never did it failed me:
.You must know the inside and out of your PC. Find out all the drivers that has been installed from the past and present in your pc. This is generally important so that if you will have compatibility problem in the future you can start scanning and eliminating some incompatible drivers one at a time. If you don't know you can always go to "Run" and type:"regedit" and press "enter" and you will find all your drivers and activities you've done and currently making there. basically, everything as in everything even the secret of all secret funny things you've done in your pc from the past and present. Yes you can find all the things about you computer there. "If you familiarize yourself with your pc in the registry editor, you become one with your computer."
    2. Before installing soundblaster soundcard, Be sure to "UNINSTALL ALL THE EXISTING SOUNDCARD DRIVERS" your closest friend might say it's okay I've tested it myself it doensn't matter if you uninstall the existing soundcard driver it or not. Never believe him/her, remember "The enemy of your enemy isn't always your enemy too." your pc has a different build content depending on your activities from the past and present with your friends have; and this will be a big factor if you are installing sensiti've drivers like creative's. Ignoring this often results to system problems of incompatibilities. Thus, you start to cry and blame creative for all the stupidity you just caused yourself.
    3. After installing and you decide to restart now go to you "SYSTEM BIOS" and "turn off" your onboard soundcard there if you currently have one.
    4. If you decide to reinstall the driver because you felt you've missed something. It never hurts to "ALWAYS UNINSTALL FIRST" And then install the current driver again.
    5. Lastly, guess you've heard this one "Never fix your PC, if it ain't broke." If you try to overclock your PC a dozen or hundred times and you "suddenly forgot" the "last oveclock activity" you've made and then after a week you discovered you suddenly have a sound problem in your Battlefield 2 when the last time you played it the sound were okay. After a couple of hours of trying to reinstall and you've abide to all the right procedures installing above and still finds the sound in bf2 sucks. Don't panic and come blaming creai've again with your stupidity cause you just broke the general law and tried to fix something that ain't broke.
    6. One more thing, never use very cheap, never heard motherboard that you personally insist it's too good for you. Some motherboards are genuinely incompatible with soundblaster X-fi as of now because the driver is in early stage. Early adopters usually gets hit with this.
Important: When uninstalling past creative drivers, actually to all the drivers in my case, just to be sure. Go to registry editor and erase all the hidden dll files and clutters. soundblaster drivers are not ordinary driver that once you uninstall this its all gone?.. No, it's not gone at all, In fact, soundblasters drivers are embedded so deep in your system that some people need driver cleanup softwares so that the hidden remaining dll files will be totally wiped out; problem is some bogus driver clean up softwares are in rage for years and there's a big chance that you would catch one, most specially the one that comes in free. But If you familiarize yourself in the registry editor, There's no software that can erase all the hidden files and dlls better than you would do it manually.Done this for years and it never did failed me.
***not so important in the process but better get rid of it st just to be sure anyway it's easy as .2..3... Try to remove all the spywares before installing by using Ad-Aware,Spybot search and destroy and microsoft ad remove software. Don't just try to use one, some spywares are just as stubborn as humans are.Message Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:00 AMMessage Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:00 AMMessage Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:03 AM

*Edited due to length of post and the normal troubleshooting BS that you hear every time one user has a problem.
Good post for general troubleshooting, but it doesn't sit to well with me when there are literally thousands who have these problems. Don't you think this will rub anyones nose in the dirt who through no fault of they're own has problems?
I for one have a good working x-fi but for someone to say that the multitude of problems are due to bad installations or viruses, i feel is downright insulting for the people who have reformatted, bought new hardware, and come up against a brick wall each and every time.
I know a lot of the time when it comes to pc's and they're faults its due to the person themselves and not the pc, but those people tend to be few in number and don't complain of the same symptoms over and over again.
It exists on very popular motherboards and at a guess i would say the x-fi is asking for to much bandwidth which certain chipsets can not supply.
A pci asking for to much bandwidth is not the fault of the user the pc or some other supernatural event, its the pci card itself, they should conform within the pci specifications and not go over what is set by a standard.

Okay, I did my best searching and I couldn't find anything that matched all your descriptors. I did do a search on both decoder numbers. SB0256 returned very little results, but with SB0466, I was able to find this ebay listing:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...6_fvi%3D&_rdc=
This card isn't a Champion like you suggested. And with my complete lack of knowledge, I don't know what I/O dri've bay means. But since it is PCI and the decoder matches the number you gave me, this card should be adequete, right?
Whether it works or not, my search indicated it might be very hard for me to find that card (or any PCI card for that matter). Everything I saw was out of stock. I know this is a forum for Creative, but are there any other manufacturers that will allow me to accomplish my goal, either with current cards, or discontinued cards? Thanks again
Oh, and I will vote on that thread. I probably won't wait for them to release the decoder since I need it now, but I still believe Creative should be giving the customer what they want
