Soundblaster X-FI Extreme Music (OEM) vs X-FI Extreme Ga

Hello i've been looking around on the internet with no look trying to find out what the differnece between these two cqrds is and up to now had no luck at all (except i know one is OEM). I play games such as the souce based ones, ie counterstrike. I also listen to music and every now and then I pop a dvd into my computer and watch.
So, can someone define the difference between the two cards and better still which is best for me.
If it makes a difference my speakers are new Logitech X-540.
Thanks,
Riley.

The XtremeGamer version is a low profile card (half height) to fit into smaller cases. It also has an Intel HD-compatible header for connecting to your case's front audio connectors (if available). The XtremeMusic is a normal PCI card and lacks the intel HD connector but has 2 Creative proprietary connectors for either the internal or external expansion unit. The XtremeMusic also has gold-plated connectors if I am not mistaken. The OEM version will most propably lack the DTS/AC-3 decoding of the retail models. Functionality-wise, both cards should be the same, apart from the AC-3/DTS thing. (Although I think the XtremeGamer doesn't support that in the drivers, it comes with an Intervideo bundle that does it). Don't worry about that, because you can still download a free decoder, like AC3Filter which does the job better!

  • Volume level too low on SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Au

[size="2" face="Helv">?I installed a SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Audio in the new higher-end system that I just got. It's a Intel Core2 Duo with plenty of dual memory on a fast bus; the 700W PS is currently only driving the base system and one Radeon 2600XT, so there should not be a power problem. I've disabled the?motherboard sound components. It's running Vista32 and I've (cleaned and) updated every driver possible. I've been through all the Knowledge Base and Forums, and have?checked out most everything that seemed potentially applicable.
?The main problem is that the volume is really too low. Even though I have every output setting at 00, the sound is just audible. I am configured only for 2. output. This is true whether I direct the output through headphones or into my analog home stereo (to get listenable levels, I have to take the gain to about 3x of any other component and get the expected associated hum from doing so); the same is true if I direct through digital system connections for HDMI to my HP w22087h monitor (also set at max)?or to my LCD TV.
?Whether part of the problem, or a result of having all the volume settings max'd, there is often a moderate 'pop' when output is started and there seems to me a "ramp up" in the volume (only about a second in length) that keep me from hearing?some of the shorter Windows 'systems sounds'. I hate to be a bother (I readily admit to not being an expert on any of this), but the loudest sound these days is from banging my head against the wall trying to fix this problem. ;-)
    Thanks

When you play music from iTunes can you play it at full volulme? If so, it is not the MBP it is either something to do with the MP4 player (what are you using for that) or the conversion.

  • Problems setting up Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music card with Logitech Z-5500 Speak

I have searched a lot for information on this and I have been unable to find a solution to
my problem. I recently purchased a new Dell PC with the following items: Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card and Logitech Z-5500 speakers. However, when I tried to connect the 3 analog wires from the central unit into my sound card, only one of them will work at a time. In other words, only one set of speakers will play anything. I am not sure what other options I have. Someone from Best Buy said I needed the box that comes with the Platinum version of X-fi Xtreme but I am not sure where I can order this from. Is it sold seperately anywhere? Clearly I am not going to order another of the same sound card and pay another $200 when the only thing I need is the box. Any suggestions on how to solve this dilemma would be extremely appreciated.

You might want to reinstall the drivers, because it looks like your default speaker settings are set to 2. or whatever non 5. setting it was on. This is because whenever you click on the default settings button, it will reset the speaker setting back to the non-5. speaker setting. Actually, you can do a custom uninstall of the card and just uninstall the volume panel. Then reinstall it. It should ask you what default speaker setting you desire. Set it to 5.. That way you don't have to worry about it defaulting to the wrong speaker settings.

  • SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music - Windows 7 x64 (Temp Fix)

Here is my issue, I have a Dell XPS 70 with this card in it. I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed and everything works perfect except for sound. I get very little sound, and what I do get is HIGHLY distorted. Sometimes my sound card locks up and I have to end explorer.exe and restart it.
This happens in XP x64 and Vista x64 in ALL versions as well. The reason this happens is because I'm using 4 GB of RAM. I actually throttle down my memory to 3 GB using MS Config.
If anyone else having this issue can offer me some sort of advice so I can not only get my Gb of RAM back, I'd like to add more in the future.

YRe: I tried that yesterdayRe: SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music - Windows 7 x64 (Temp Fix)j Did your system actually see the whole 4 gigs? Some systems dont see all the ram to begin with and the memory hole fix or anything else do not work. I had an Asrock 939 board that could not see all four gigs of ram in Vista or Windows 7. I changed to a Gigabyte board and have had no problems since. Dell uses a lot of less-expensi've boards that may or may not have this incompatibility. You can check and see if they have issued a chipset driver update or even a bios update for your system. I did have to swap my motherboard though for my system to see past 3 gigs, let alone use it correctly. Since I moved away from Nvidia chipsets I have been really lucky with what I can or cannot put in my system.

  • Question about a Soundblaster X-fi Extreme Mu

okay i have the x-fi extreme music card. i have the antec advance gaming tower with the mic and headphone speaker jacks in the front. i can plus them into my mother board and the mic will work but the speakers dont. i see on the xfi i can plug the cable into the card rather then my mother board. my question is whats the configurtion for that connector on the xfi? the one on the mother board you just plug into it and it only plugs in one way. on the xfi card it can go in different way. the pin setup on the mother borad is different then the the pin setup on the xfi card. same pins but the bottom ones are different then the ones on the mother board. so i guess i need some help. i can also plug in the cable one by one so if i can get the configurtion for the xfi what pin does what that would be great.

This is a quite common question here ...
    Maybe this helps ...

I have just purchased a Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music OEM Soundcard and as it did not come with any drivers could someone give me a link to some that I can download as most of the ones I have found are just web upgrades which just give me this error - http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/5486/untitledch0.jpg .Message Edited by wormsunited on 0-09-20072:25 PM

    Thanks for the help.
I think I need to download the .iso file and burn it onto a cs and then run that :s
So far I have only found link to the x-fi iso which was on a BadBoyForums/Filefront account (which turned out to be corrupt so I couldn't use it) so if anyone give me a different link another .iso file I would appreciate it. :s
Why can't creative just put an installer on the website :/

  • X-Fi Extreme Music Not Detected At All By New

I have just finished building a new PC with parts obtained from a friend, but the X-Fi that worked fine in my previous computer is now totally undetected. There is even no trace of it in the DMI data when the computer turns on - no 'Multimedia Controller' is listed under the PCI devices. It's the same story in Windows, there are no unrecognised devices at all. I have tried using it in both of the available PCI slots, and have had no luck. I know both slots work because my Wi-Fi card works in both of them. It worked briefly the first time I tested the system but after finishing the assembly of the computer it now?no longer works. • Driver Conflicts in OEM X-Fi C

I am experiencing an apparent conflict with the drivers for my Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer card (SB X-Fi Audio [4000]), installed as OEM in my new HP xw8600 workstation. I understand the suggestion to try the manufacturer (Hewlitt Packard) first, but I have already been there with no help. I am running Win XP Pro, SP2 on an Intel Quadcore (2.83 mhz) processor. The machine was deli'vered with the HP?OEM Soundblaster drivers, and 4. sounds all worked. I subsequently installed? backup software?(EMC Retrospect 7.6) that I have used for other systems, and immediately had a?sound driver problem. On executing a system ( or file) backup, the SB X-Fi driver disappears from the?Device Driver list, and ?some of the sound outputs fail. Running the Creative Diagnostics software, the Direct and DirectSound tests passed, but the Windows Multimedia tests failed. The mixer settings-check shows that the Master, Wave, and Midi functions failed. I have tried upgrading the sound driver? with the newest version provided by HP,?version 6.00.0.283-2.4.60?from?Creative Technology, but with the same results. I have tried reinstalling?sound drivers, and the sound will then function until the backup software performs its daily backup, at which time the SB drivers are disabled. Strangely, while the SB driver disappears from the Sound Controllers folder in the Device Manager, it then appears in the System folder in the Device Manager window, but the driver is then non-functional.
I have contacted EMC Retrospect tech support, but they?said they had never seen a driver conflict caused by their software, and suggested I contact Creative.
Has anyone on the forum experienced a similar conflict?
    mglickstein

Yes but long time ago with Audigy SE and only format resolved the isuse for me even uninstaling everything and living only audigy drivers the drvs were gone after restart but good thing was after I done the clean install everything was working w/o any problems with same software installed as before don't know what it was probably windows itself.

  • Problems running Xi-Fi Xtreme Music on Vi

    Hello all,
This is my first time posting, so please bear with me. I recently upgraded my pc's motherboard to an Asus P5KE Premium Wi-Fi board. This board has onboard sound associated with it. I set everything up and moved all my components over from my old board to the new one before doing a completely clean installation of Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit). All went well, however I have been experiencing problems with my Xi-Fi card. I installed the latest drivers from the Creative Website for Vista and the card has been recognised. However, I am experiencing multiple problems. First and foremost, I am receiving no sound whatsoever from my sound card. Secondly, I am experiencing random slowdowns, system freezes/crashes, and on one or two occasions I am receiving a message saying my video card stopped responding but has recovered. My video card is a Power Color ATI Radeon HD3870 and it is installed in a PCI 2.0 compliant PCI-Expressx6 slot.My sound card is installed in a standard PCI slot two slots below my graphics card. I have re-installed the drivers after completely uninstalling them, but nothing seems to work. I am wondering if there is an IRQ or other resource conflict going on somewhere on the system. I have been given a Soundblaster Xi-FI Extreme Audio PC Express card, but I am loathe to install it as I feel it would be downgrading my sound capabilities. If anyonehas any ideas please let me know, any help is greatly appreciated and if you need any more info please ask. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Well - I had no luck getting the Xtreme Music to work. I tried installation in each of my PCI slot - the card is recognised and I can install drivers for it - it appears in the device manager and to all intents and purposes seems to be working. However, I get no sound whatsoever, through powered speakers or headphones. And Vista freezes after a random amount of time (sometimes or 2 mins - sometimes a little longer). I have disabled the onboard audio, I have disabled all unrelevant stuff in my bios. I have noticed one other thing, when I load an mp3 file into Windows Media player (the file plays, just no sound) - the timer for the song goes far too quickly - much quicker than it does under normal operation. I spent fi've hours trying to sort this last night to no avail - tried using Drivercleaner to empty out all the Creative drivers and did a reboot into safe mode (where everything appears to be fine - no crashes). I have currently installed the Sound Blaster Xi-FI Xtreme Audio PCI-Express card - which installs and works with no problems whatsoever - however I'd rather not keep this card in as its not hardware accelerated like the Xi-Fi Xtreme Music is. I'm not entirely sure it supports EAX or OpenAL properly either. But some sound is better than none. All this leads me to believe that I either have faults with all my onboard PCI slots, that there is a hardware conflict somewhere, or that my motherboard (Asus P5KE/Wi-Fi) has compatibility issues. Any further ideas?

    Hey blackwalker,
I'm afraid there is no treble control for the current PCIe Sound Blaster card. However, there is bass control included in our bundled software suite such as SBX Pro Studio. There is also an EQ setting which can be disabled if you do not like it.
    Cheers!!

  • Soundblaster Locking Up Computer

    Hello everyone.
I have a Soundblaster X-FI Extreme Gamer that transferred from my old machine to my new one that I just built. I've got a 790FX AMD chipset on my mainboard. I'm experiencing a couple of issues, one more serious and irritating than the other. The first problem is that it seems like at random times (and sometimes not so random) that my computer will lock up solid, like no CTRL-ALT-DEL lock up. You can't even turn off NumLock on the keyboard, you have to hit the reset button to get it back up. The majority of the time that this happens its because I'm inside the Creative Console messing with one of the settings including switching from Entertainment to Gaming, changing the number of speakers, enabling or disabling Crystalizer EAX or 3D sound. If i change on one of those things sometimes it will work other times it will just freeze right as you click. In addition i've been able to get this freeze to occur in some games if I turn on EAX effects. The other problem I seem to be having is when I listen to music it almost sounds like its skipping and dropping portions out of the song, its hard to describe its not like listening to a CD skipping i've never heard anyting like it before. I'm running the absolute latest drivers available for my system. One caveat I see is that I'm running the RC of Windows 7 64-bit, however, I ran this same card on the RC on my old computer and didn't have a single problem. Sound card has its own IRQ so no resource issue there.
    Any suggestions?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Soundblaster xfi audio-no entertainment mo

Hello i just bought the Soundblaster x-fi extreme audio and installed it.it works properly (so does the software) but i cannot find the Creative Console Launcher. There is no possibility to acess it (like it is said in the manual) over the start menu as the entry "Creative Console Launcher" is missing.
I also can not find the .exe in the install folder.
Is my card deli'vered without that mode or could there have been ocurred errors in the installation (which runs without error notifications)?
Or is it the fact that I have no Service Packs installed?
    Thanks for your help

i mean Creative shouldn't just repackaged the old AudigySE under X-FI series just because it redesign the software/driver used...well, they can named it as 'AudigyVista' if they want to let people know it's support under Vista....just named it as X-Fi XtremeAudio' is just a big misleading, can considered as cheating also....and the introduce of XtremeAudio also expose the ugly truth that the so called 'X-FI =Xtreme Fidelity' function such as Csytalizer is just the cheap effect emulated by the software and not the function that processed by the chip at all...
