SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio: mic not working with digital out

I don't know if it is a design problem or a software problem, but with the digital output enabled, I cannot get the front panel mic input to work. Does anyone know the answer to this?

does anyone know since what version this has changed? Seem like the design is going backwards

  • X-Fi Xtreme Audio Card not work

Hello, in my first time building a computer, I've had problems that have been solved via various forums, and I'm finally at my last problem that I need to fix. I got an X-Fi extreme audio card that isn't working properly. I know that the card isn't broken or inserted improperly, as when I test the speakers through the card (I'm using the green analog cable, plugged into the card), it works nicely. However, when I try to listen to anything else, like music, youtube, etc, I can only get sound (occasionally) through the headphone jack, which makes things sound really strange through the speakers. When I try to put headphones in (the headphone jack), they don't make any sound. Does anyone know a solution to this? I've tried going through all the settings, turning the mobo's onboard audio controller on and off, and many other things. I'm using a Abit IN9 32X MAX motherboard, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio VARPAK 7. Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express Interface Sound Card?and 32-bit Vista.

Today you're lucky, i also have an MSI XFI Audio but it's PCIe, if your card is PCIe, here is the CD:This CD is from a user named NUJA, http://nuja.free.fr/SBXAudioPCIe.rar , contain : CREATIVE_ALCHEMY_X-FI .00.07
    Audio Console 2.40.2
    Console Launcher 2.30.32
    Creative Volume Panel 2.0.80
    driver din 03/04/2008,6.0.0.20
This CD is better then CD from MSI, it has newer application and drivers.

  • Mic not working with MAC Mini on Line in

    Hi,
Just got my MAC Mini 3 weeks ago - I've just tried using my audio line-in mic to do a test call with SKYPE and it doesn't work.
I've gone into system preferences and tried to adjust the input volume but it doesn't seem to want to know...
Any advice for this MAC newbie?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I would say the fact you get some audio from the mic but not enough for viable use indicates that your present microphone is not outputting a high enough signal. Many elecret condeser type mics, and others with battery power sources output below line level voltages, so the input in the mini would simply not be sensitive enough to register the signal, and you would get exactly the results you describe.
There are microphone preamplifiers you could get to boost the mics signal level, or alternatively, a number of other microphones, including almost all USB devices of this type, which would likely serve your purposes very well.

  • Optical Audio Is Not Working with Onkyo Receiver TX-SR501

    Hello,
I can't seem to make the optical audio from Apple TV work with my Onkyo Receiver TX-SR501. The Onkyo has 2 optical audio lines in in the back. When I hit the "digital input" button on the front of receiver, I can select from OPT1, OPT2, or COAX. I currently have the optical audio line going into OPT2, but if I select OPT2, I hear no sound. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Holly

I have the exact same receiver (Onkyo TX SR-501) and tgibbs is correct...you must (during a setup process) link each function (DVD, Video 1, Video 2, Video 3, CD, etc.) with its audio source. The Optical cable doesn't connect to a "function" in the back, it connects to an "input". The receiver gives you the freedom to use different inputs with different functions. It's your job, durng the "setup" to map each of these inputs to each function...that way the receiver knows where to go looking for the audio that you are feeding into it for each function you choose. The owners manual has a pretty clear setup process outlined in it.
Not clear to me that you understood this, so forgive me if I am explaining what is already clear to you.

  • External iSight mic not working with facetime.  Snow Leopard, mac mini w/ firewire v1.0.2, 800/400 firewire adapter

External iSight camera connected via Firewire adapter 800/400 to a Mac Mini running Snow Leopard - a visual signal comes up for iChat and FaceTime, only sometimes does a video signal comes up for PhotoBooth, always no sound for any of the applications.  System Preferences "Sound" shows "Input Level" set around 75%, however only periodically do I see blue bar move, almost like a short in the cable, but the adapter is new.  Firewire firmware is v1.0.2.  Tried to use firewire updater to get 1.0.3, but updater won't update for Snow Leopard.  For being advertized as the world's most advanced OS, seems like Apple OS could at least work with Apple External iSight camera !  Any help much appreciated on fixing the missing sound.

This means that my Firewire 400 ports on the display are no longer supported by the computer?
They need a FireWire connection to the computer. With older computers, the FireWire cable from the display would plug in to a computer FW400 port to provide the connection. With FW800 only computers, you need the adapter.

  • USB Not working with digital devices

I've been Googling for a couple of hours now, but have not yet found this problem. As of yesterday, digital devices, including two cameras (a Nikon and a Kodak) and a HP Printer individually plugged into the USB port on my Toshiba Satellite 350 are not working. All use different USB cables and I have tried various ports on the laptop. These have all worked in the past and all but he Kodak have the latest downloads from their manufacturers. Oddly, the mouse and tablet work fine. I've plugged the cameras into another computer and they seem to work. Meanwhile, I've rebooted and restarted the problematic laptop several times, I've done all the Windows updates. The machine is running Windows Vista. Your suggestions will be most welcome! Thank you! Jeffrey B

Have you tries it? With the battery and AC adapter removed, close the Power switch for half-a-minute. After that, re-attach those, press the Power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press the F2 key while the Toshiba logo is displayed. Press F9 to restore the BIOS default settings, press F10, and then select Yes (Exit Saving Changes). The computer will restart.

Welcome to the wonderful world of M-Audio!!! Now, what you are doing is perfectly NORMAL. You need to hook up speakers to your audio interface. Where the little diagram says so:
    http://www.m-audio.com/layout/imgview.php?i=/images/en/connectivity/big/mobilepr eusbcd779px.gif
See? The reason this is so, is because when you are using this interface, you are BOTH using the inputs AND outputs. Logic always works like this, it is a requirement to use "a full-duplex sound card" which means a sound card that has inputs and outputs.

M-audio blaming everyone else is not new, however, your "issue" is a user issue, not a gear issue.

  • Mic not working with X-Fi Fatil

I never had this issue in XP, but with Vista, my computer will not recognize my Mic is hooked up on my Fatility card. If I go to:-Start-Control Panel-Hardware and Sound-Click on the "recording" tab?It says "Microphone" Creative SB X-Fi, Currently unavailable. How can i get vista to recognize my Mic? Nothing I am trying seems to work.
Message Edited by Wavechaser on 06-03-20072:27 AM

You need to select the Mic as the device to record from in the volume panel in the Creative software and it should work even though it says "currently unavailable". Or if you don't have the Creative software,?if you right click on any of the recording devices in the sound control panel recording tab, it'll give you an option as "set as default device" or you can click on the device once and then click the "set defaut" button at the bottom of the window and it will then show the device as working and should now work.

  • Audio is not working on HDMI out put

    hi
when i connect my laptopm to a tv through an HDMI cable the audiio is not transfering to the tv's speakers.
i have tried to check the settings but there is no option of making the HDMI output as the default playback device...
there used to be such an option but now i can no more find such an option.
i do remember getting a troubleshoot message that the HDMI audio driver is causing problems and that it has to be disabled...but now i cannot find where to enable that driver from
please help me solve my problem
    thanx

    Open Control Panel > Sound
Right Click on  " HDMI Output" and you will find an option which says - "Set as Default Device" . Kindly ensure this is selected and once you do this there would be a green checkmark on option - "HDMI Output"
Here is how it looks. On your laptop it might look different but the below picture is just for your reference. By chance, if you do not see "HDMI Output" option, Right click on white area in same window and you would get 2 options - Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices, Please ensure both options are selected.

  • Quicktime file with corrected audio track not working with iWeb Gallery

    Hello Everyone,
I shot a video and accidentally recorded on one audio track only (posted in another post). I've fixed the audio in Quicktime Pro by selecting the audio track (track 1) onto track 2 and hence I've got "fake" stereo or mono audio. The QuickTime file plays perfectly on my desktop. The audio is coming through both channels, as well.
Now, my problem is that when I've tried to upload the file to my iLife '08 iWeb site, the audio is back to one channel again. The video plays beautifully, however. I even uploaded the QuickTime file to my iDisk and from there to my web gallery through iLife '06. Still, the audio is only coming through on one track.
Hmm, is there a setting in QuickTime Pro that I might have missed after I "fixed" the audio? Like I said, the file plays perfectly on my desktop. I've even burned the file to DVD and it plays perfectly on my home DVD player. Somehow along the upload process the 2nd audio track is dropped. Any advice is very much appreciated.
    Frustrated in Texas,
    -Jack

    Hello QuickTimeKirk,
Thanks for all of your advice and to the others who have chimed in with their input. My audio problem is solved. The problem with one of the audio tracks getting dropped once the QuickTime file was uploaded to my Web Gallery has been fixed. I had to re-export the original QuickTime File and somehow the tracks corrected themselves. I believe they were canceling themselves out the first time. Weird.
Now, however, I see that I'm getting the blue Quicktime symbol when I open the URL. It takes about a minute (at least with my cable connection) for the poster frame to show up. I did flatten the file and have it set to play automatically. See what you get on your end: http://web.mac.com/honeybear7/Site/Movie.html if you don't mind. This is just a test page, so this is not the final presentation. The window size of the movie, however, is set.
What is the best possible setting I can have the file set on for it to play the quickest? I know much of it is dependent on the connection speed. This also is not a small file. It's 214 Mb, but it's a 40 minute movie and looks okay on the web. Having burned it on DVD as a 2.9 gig file it, of course, looks much better with no blocking. I originally shot it with an HD Canon camera.
Any more advice is greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend.
    -Jack

  • Audio interface not working with Mavericks

I know this has been asked before, but I only just got Mavericks and it won't recognise my M-Audio MobilePre as an output source.  I've tried installing new drivers but it didn't work.  Now I have $800+ of equipment that I can't use.  Is there anything else I can try to fix it? Or can I downgrade my OS?

I think it's something you need to take up with Avid.
Firstly, do Avid support the hardware on Mavericks? If they do, then that means it's a unique problem which hopefully can be fixed.
Secondly, are any relevant messages being logged when you access System Preferences > Sound or Audio MIDI Setup? Open Console utility, and have a look. You can filter for particular search terms, but start by looking at the time you do it.
