SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music - Windows 7 x64 (Temp Fix)

Here is my issue, I have a Dell XPS 70 with this card in it. I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 installed and everything works perfect except for sound. I get very little sound, and what I do get is HIGHLY distorted. Sometimes my sound card locks up and I have to end explorer.exe and restart it.
This happens in XP x64 and Vista x64 in ALL versions as well. The reason this happens is because I'm using 4 GB of RAM. I actually throttle down my memory to 3 GB using MS Config.
If anyone else having this issue can offer me some sort of advice so I can not only get my Gb of RAM back, I'd like to add more in the future.
Dell XPS 70 - Windows 7 Ultimate - 4x GB RAM, GeForce 8800GTX, SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music

YRe: I tried that yesterdayRe: SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music - Windows 7 x64 (Temp Fix)j Did your system actually see the whole 4 gigs? Some systems dont see all the ram to begin with and the memory hole fix or anything else do not work. I had an Asrock 939 board that could not see all four gigs of ram in Vista or Windows 7. I changed to a Gigabyte board and have had no problems since. Dell uses a lot of less-expensi've boards that may or may not have this incompatibility. You can check and see if they have issued a chipset driver update or even a bios update for your system. I did have to swap my motherboard though for my system to see past 3 gigs, let alone use it correctly. Since I moved away from Nvidia chipsets I have been really lucky with what I can or cannot put in my system.
I use a Gigabyte with an ATI/AMD chipset and I have been lucky enough to escape the SNAP, CRACKLE, and Pop people talk about......

  • Creative X-FI Xtreme Music Windows Cr

    Hi
Okay, i've been the luckey owner of a Creative SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme Music. I've been using it on a ASRock 939DUALSATA with an AMD 64 3200+?Recenlty i got my self a new motherboard and CPU. ASRock ConRoe945G-DVI and a Dual Core 2 Intel. I've reinstalled windows and were on my way to install the drivers, when i looked at the soundcard was been put as a "VGA-Unit" and sometimes as a "Multimedia something.." After some reinstalls of WINDOWS and some trys, it finally worked. But after a reboot, my load **bleep**ed up. It crashed my windows. And now, it's been regonised as a "PCI-Unit" or in danish "PCI-Enhed" If i try to install the drivers i get Blue Screen of death. I've been doing all, i've been surfing on this forum for a whole day or two, nothing has been found to help only that some has been sending there soundcard to RMA, and got a new and it worked. I've contacted my dealer, where i bought it. He said to contact Creative Support. And i have updated all that can be updated trust me, i'm a nerd. If somebody can help me please. And if there is some Danish supporter's out there, s? hj?lp mig dog

I dont' know much about that board..but have you tried disabling this?7. CH Vista? Premium level HD Audio (ALC888 Audio Codec)? which is included on your mb. Just to see if any conflict in Windows... I have previous issues (similar) with SB vs. imbedded. May want to try and remove the drivers for the HD audio.. Only other thing I would suggest.is try reseating the card or changing to the other PCI slot.

  • Problems setting up Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music card with Logitech Z-5500 Speak

I have searched a lot for information on this and I have been unable to find a solution to
my problem. I recently purchased a new Dell PC with the following items: Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card and Logitech Z-5500 speakers. However, when I tried to connect the 3 analog wires from the central unit into my sound card, only one of them will work at a time. In other words, only one set of speakers will play anything. I am not sure what other options I have. Someone from Best Buy said I needed the box that comes with the Platinum version of X-fi Xtreme but I am not sure where I can order this from. Is it sold seperately anywhere? Clearly I am not going to order another of the same sound card and pay another $200 when the only thing I need is the box. Any suggestions on how to solve this dilemma would be extremely appreciated.

You might want to reinstall the drivers, because it looks like your default speaker settings are set to 2. or whatever non 5. setting it was on. This is because whenever you click on the default settings button, it will reset the speaker setting back to the non-5. speaker setting. Actually, you can do a custom uninstall of the card and just uninstall the volume panel. Then reinstall it. It should ask you what default speaker setting you desire. Set it to 5.. That way you don't have to worry about it defaulting to the wrong speaker settings.

Mesh computer send 3 same cd but it not work
Souund card working ok under windows xp.
    How problem?

I bought the same soundcard and experienced the same problem as you (, but even under windows xp professional). What I did to solve the problem was only to bend the card a little bit downwards by putting a stick between the soundcard and the graphic card
BTW, do you install a double system on your computer? Are you really sure that your card still work under windows xp now?
ps: I have also the ASUS mainboard. I wonder, could it be possibly due to the incompatibility between ASUS' pci slot and creative's golden fingers?

  • Xtreme Music w/IO Drive - Windows 7 X64 - Noise

/? Hello all, Ive been trying to research this issue looks like there is ALOT of resources, just thought I would see if there were any new takes on the issue with Distorted/Crackling/popping issue.
My system- XPS 70 Bios .4.
    ??? 4 gigs Ram
    ??? Nvidia 275GTX
    ???Windows 7 x64
??? Xtreme Music XFi w/ IO dri've bay
I read a post about Adjusting the ram to under 4G to 3999, I ?mainly wanted to see of there were any 'user' Drivers, or if someone can send me a?link that fixes the issue. ?
I am using the Sigmatel Audio driver perfectly at the moment, Problem is I NEED a Midi in/out for recording for various VST plug-ins on my recording software, from the XFi card. Sorry if this is like beating a dead horse, but it is truely frustrating.
    Thanks in advance.

This response is not accurate and pretty poor troubleshooting if you ask me!  Just because it fails in another Windows 7 machine doesn't point to the HDD.  So I tested on 3 x Windows 7 machines and all fail to see my external HDD partition's
saying they are RAW yet Windows XP works fine and sees all my files??  Smells to me like a Windows 7 issue?

  • DD/DTS decoder on X-Fi Xtreme Music and Vista x64

Running X-Fi Xtreme Music in Windows Vista Business 64 Bit, connected to 7. speakers (analog, no external decoder).
The most recent driver 2_8_0008 enabled the decoder tab in the soundblaster control panel. So I switched to internal decoder. Played a DVD in PowerDVD, setting output to S/PDIF. Everything like I did in Windows XP, but no sound in Vista. Help please!

The rest of the system is 8800GTX, Corsair 580w PSU, Intel Core 2 Duo 4300 @ .8GHz.
As I said I have tried pretty much everything I can think of, I bought the card brand new from eBuyer. Basically am i missing some files somewhere that I should delete before attempting a re-installation of the drivers?
    Thanks for the reply CLKillerWanted.

Hello ! I am heber from argentina! bs as! federal discrict! Hey guys! you are soo cool! you help me a lot of times! but now i have to write to you becausa i dont get a solid solution to my problem. I search and see that there are some users with the same problem but i dont see a solid answer. The things that i do to try the fix the problem was clean and unninstall the drivers and soft with tools like driver sweeper etc and install the last driver but the result is the same. The only thing i found like a temporal solution when the problem happend its do the the assignement in the panel thx. I want to ask you if there is a solution, a permanent one...plz! becausa i am going to the thx panel like 30 times per day!!! i am going crazy! For more details i copy and edit a message from a user that have the same problem that i , read it plz : Ever since installing the latest drivers, 2.5. or whatever they are, I have sound and 5. support now using an X-Fi Xtreme music with Vista 64 bit (2GB), The card just randomly swaps channels on me. What I mean is, if I start from a fresh boot, I'll get all 5 speakers working in a 5. movie or video game or mp3. Shortly after though, it will swap all the sound to only the back channels and then only teh front channels, and sometimes only the center channel. Most of times it does in pairs , meaning that it wont be like front left and back right, always both back speakers and then both front speakers. Either way, it totally breaks the surround sound and it's rather annoying to hear the sound travel from front to back etc. Is there some way to fix this or anyone know the cause of this I'm about done with Creative and their crappy support for Vista. I might have to go back to on board 5. support if this keeps up. Well if you need something else! please let me know! and if you give me a hand i will be very happy ^^ . Thank you and a big hugh from argentina! PD: PLZ CREATIVE! YOUR SOUNDCARDS ARE THE BEST ! IN MY OPINION! BUT YOUR DRIVERS AND SUPPORT NEEDS MORE ATTENTION! PLZ!!! DO SOMETHING! FOR YOUR BEST!!!!!!

THIS IS A 3RD PARTY METHOD AND OF COURSE THERE IS NO SUPPORT !!!
BEFORE YOU PROCEED PLEASE UNISTALL EVERYTHING AND USE DRIVERSWEEPER OR DRIVERCLEANER TO CLEAN YOUR REGISTRY TOO !!!
Ok here's a new alternative way that new driver will work 100% both XP and Vista (32/64)
install the 2007 suite (please do custom and do not install the audio drivers except everything else)

    http://rapidshare.com/files/09770659/2007Suite-PAX.part6.rar
(please burn the suite on a CD or DVD)(some applications have been moddified from the original 2007suite-pax, please re-download the suite!!!)
Ok after the installation of suite is finished do not restart your PC and install the following drivers:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/09755063/SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_5_0006_FX.rar
Now you can restart the PC. Tested with all versions of windows (Windows XP / Vista both 32 and 64 bit !!!)
Master Volume works, remote control works too... CHECK IT OUT

  • Xfi Xtreme Music and Windows 7 64-bit?

    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

    2 GB (upgrading to 4GB)
    4870x2
    Xtreme Music
Been having problems with sound since installing Win7 Pro 64 bit. I previously ran my system on XP Pro 32-bit. The sound just isn't the same as before. Since the original CD that came with the card is not compatible with Win7, I was forced to download and use the drivers on Creative's website.
Note that I am using the same EXACT settings I had back when running XP at 35% max volume.
Since Windows 7, I am forced to run at 20% max volume, yet music and in-game sounds sound distorted from time to time.
Could there be an explanation behind this?

  • Xi-Fi Xtreme Music and Windows Vista 32 bit driv

I have a lot of problems with Vista driver. There is only one driver and it doesn't work correctly. Sometimes I have very bad noise, the sound skips, and it often has disturbance. When I connect the integrated sound card there are no problems. But I didn't give 00 $ for noise and to use intergrated soundMessage Edited by Botev92 on 05-29-20070:4 AM

Well to give Creative their due even if they took their time there are new drivers out for the X-Fi Xtreme Music and Vista and they work just fine. You can even select the different modes (entertainment, Game or Audio Creation) from within the Audio Console menu. Link:http://us.creative.com/support/downl...type=0&x=3&y=9

  • X-Fi Xtreme Music Digital In on Vista x64?

I am trying to send a PCM signal from my CD player digital coax output to the X-Fi Xtreme Music input (the Flexi Jack). In the Console I am setting the input as Digital I/O, mode it is Audio Creation Mode, but I cannot get any signal. If I switch Flexi Jack to "Line In", I have signal (Monitor record Line In).
I have signal coming out from the same Jack when it is configured as Digital I/O. The cable has stereo jack on one end and 2x RCA on the other. The White is the digital out, I am guessing the the Red shall be the Digital In...
Did somebody manage to make this work

Just an update, I'm throughly convinced the problem lies in the fact that the "SPDIF Input Settings" drop down menu in the Audio Console is grayed out and I can't access it.
I read some things about how the Flexijack doesn't support Digital Inputs, only outputs, but according to this chart,
    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=3&subcategory=55&product=780#
The X-Fi Xtreme Music does support the SB Digital I/O Module. Again, any help would be appreciated.

  • Xtreme Music/ Vista/ Installed but no sou

Hi guys, Im having great trouble with my Xtreme Music card. I have downloaded the vista driver from the Soundblaster site. I made sure any other drivers were uninstalled and disabled the onboard sound. I am using a Creative Digital i/o adapter also. Everything seems to be installed correctly and even the small graphic equalizer next to the Digital i/o icon in Control Panel is showing a signal however there is NO SOUND. Im a bit baffled.
I have read through a great number of the posts here and found similar issues but no solution. Apologies if I am repeating an issue.

Don't know about your problem but i have a different one.
I installed the latest drivers from CL site and then today i was checking the Windows update site when there was a Creative XFi update available. So i got it and it just screwed all the sound up. Made my mic echo and allsorts.
Teach me for trusting MS to supply updates for something that as naff all to do with them realy. Should of know because the last time i did this for my Nvidia 8800 card it did the exact same thing by screwing everything up. Doh! lolMessage Edited by taylorig on 08-20-200706:20 PM

  • Xi Fi Xtreme Music - You've got to be kidding m

I had the beta version of VISTA with a soundblaster li've card in my PC, I bought the Xi-Fi Xtreme Music Card?last month?for one purpose and hoping it would work with the FULL VERSION OF?VISTA. To enhance the quality of recording my music. Now with?VISTA,? its all messed up, still the same problem with?the li've card that the VISTA beta gave me. The?driver you have to download on here is not complete, sound stutters.. Mp3's crackle.... I can't record my music properly now. I? had to reinstall my Windows XP MCE,?and in?limbo with a copy VISTA home that I can't use properly.
You've got to be kidding me that I just wasted my money on?a new sound card,?that is not even ready for VISTA when it was released within the past month!!.. Wasn't the company atleast given a HEADS UP, so you would be READY with your hardware for VISTA?..
I am very confused and a bit pissed at the moment, can someone PLEASE let me know what is going on. Or when this problem is going to be FIXED!!..

Have you read the stickies on Windows Vista compatibility? Final drivers for the X-fi will be out in a few weeks it looks like. Meanwhile, if you're doing any mission-critical activities on your computer, you don't have any business using Vista just yet. I mean, most companies won't even switch to Vista for a year or more. There are going to be all kinds of issues when a new OS is released. I wish people would understand that before wigging out in the forums. I'm using my X-fi fatality pro series in Vista Ultimate and yes I miss the console launcher, working ac3 passthrough through spdif, and all the other stuff. But maybe I'm lucky in that my digital out works and EAX seems to work fine in BF242.
The point is, I knew going into the upgrade that some things wouldn't work or work properly for a little while. So no, nobody is kidding you. Just stick with Win XP until official drivers are up for all your hardware. Vista isn't going anywhere so I suggest you relax.

  • Problems running Xi-Fi Xtreme Music on Vi

    Hello all,
This is my first time posting, so please bear with me. I recently upgraded my pc's motherboard to an Asus P5KE Premium Wi-Fi board. This board has onboard sound associated with it. I set everything up and moved all my components over from my old board to the new one before doing a completely clean installation of Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit). All went well, however I have been experiencing problems with my Xi-Fi card. I installed the latest drivers from the Creative Website for Vista and the card has been recognised. However, I am experiencing multiple problems. First and foremost, I am receiving no sound whatsoever from my sound card. Secondly, I am experiencing random slowdowns, system freezes/crashes, and on one or two occasions I am receiving a message saying my video card stopped responding but has recovered. My video card is a Power Color ATI Radeon HD3870 and it is installed in a PCI 2.0 compliant PCI-Expressx6 slot.My sound card is installed in a standard PCI slot two slots below my graphics card. I have re-installed the drivers after completely uninstalling them, but nothing seems to work. I am wondering if there is an IRQ or other resource conflict going on somewhere on the system. I have been given a Soundblaster Xi-FI Extreme Audio PC Express card, but I am loathe to install it as I feel it would be downgrading my sound capabilities. If anyonehas any ideas please let me know, any help is greatly appreciated and if you need any more info please ask. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Well - I had no luck getting the Xtreme Music to work. I tried installation in each of my PCI slot - the card is recognised and I can install drivers for it - it appears in the device manager and to all intents and purposes seems to be working. However, I get no sound whatsoever, through powered speakers or headphones. And Vista freezes after a random amount of time (sometimes or 2 mins - sometimes a little longer). I have disabled the onboard audio, I have disabled all unrelevant stuff in my bios. I have noticed one other thing, when I load an mp3 file into Windows Media player (the file plays, just no sound) - the timer for the song goes far too quickly - much quicker than it does under normal operation. I spent fi've hours trying to sort this last night to no avail - tried using Drivercleaner to empty out all the Creative drivers and did a reboot into safe mode (where everything appears to be fine - no crashes). I have currently installed the Sound Blaster Xi-FI Xtreme Audio PCI-Express card - which installs and works with no problems whatsoever - however I'd rather not keep this card in as its not hardware accelerated like the Xi-Fi Xtreme Music is. I'm not entirely sure it supports EAX or OpenAL properly either. But some sound is better than none. All this leads me to believe that I either have faults with all my onboard PCI slots, that there is a hardware conflict somewhere, or that my motherboard (Asus P5KE/Wi-Fi) has compatibility issues. Any further ideas?
