Soundbooth cs3 wont open in OS X.6.2

I recently upgraded to MAC OS 10.6.2 and found that Soundbooth CS3 gives me an error message when I try to open.  The message is that "SoundBooth cannot open at this time.  It must be repaired by first uninstalling and then reisntalling Soundbooth."
I uninstalled and reinstalled Soundbooth and re-downloaded the the OSX 10.5 patch.   Any suggestions on how to get Soundbooth to launch?  I need to get the CS3 version to open so I can upgrade to CS4.

I posted library pro file etc to desktop but it wont stop asking each time.  big pain!
What else have you already tried, other than removing the ProAppSystemID?
Did you try that as described here? Re: Aperture requires the serial number each time
And did you
When did this problem start? After migrating your system to a new computer? In that case reinstall Aperture - Pro applications do not migrate well. And enter the serial number from an administrator account.

  • Illustartor CS3 wont open - error message

Everytime i open illustator, it gets to the the open file page and then immediatley shuts off. i tried disabling all fonts and restarting my computer but with no luck.
    What do i do?

    Glamour,
Probably, this is more complicated than a simple preference corruption, but you may rule that out in the following way:
To restore the preferences, you may either Ctrl/Cmd+Alt/Option at startup, or Move the folder with Illy closed. The latter is recommended here because it is reversible and takes care or more issues, but requires a greater effort, especially the first time used. See explanations in the latter.
If you have Vista, remember to reboot before waking the beauty from her sleep. Reinstalling does not replace the preferences.
When it is not something in the Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings folder, it may be (with tests):
    1. Corrupt font(s): you may move all fonts out of the Windows fonts folder (and move them back in);
    2. Firewall interference (especially if more than one is running (XP SP2 adds one if activated)): you may turn them off (and on again);
    3. Some versions of Acrobat generate many temp files. Too many (64K) causes the problem: you may search and destroy Temp files;
    4. Some other inconsistency caused by Adobe Acrobat/Reader: you may try uninstalling and reinstalling (a newer version).
    5. Incompatible/old printer definition file for the default printer: you may upgrade the driver, change the default, or set the PostScript driver/PDF to default;
    6. Using a US/English version of Illustrator with Windows set to a different language: you may enter Control Panel>Regional and Language Setteings and change to English (and change back).
    7. Quicktime/iTunes: uninstall Quicktime and make sure the Quicktime folder is deleted in the Program Files folder; and/or uninstall iTunes.
If none of these possible solutions work, have you made any (other) changes to the PC between succes and failure? New software loaded?

  • CS3 Wont Open in Windows 7--AMD Processor Issue--HELP!

After much, much searching I've found there's been a common issue with AMD Processors on Windows 7 and getting CS3 to run correctly. Apparently a patch was created, that fixed the problem for users with similar issues. But the links to those patches are no longer valid.
I have no phone right now, chat aint working--and I can't email Adobe of course, soooo someone please...
The forum I found with those links and explanations is here:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/software/25313-adobe-cs3-64-bit-ultimate-3.html
From there, this pretty much describes it:
"Just bought an HP Pavillion Elite with Windows 7 Home Premium and AMD processor.  Photoshop CS3 would install but would hang when accessed. Some forums  suggested that Photoshop CS3 is incompatible with this AMD processor and  Windows 7 (64-bit). I called HP and was told the software is  incompatible. I was just about to return my computer when I found this  forum. I downloaded and installed the patch. I then opened Photoshop  (for the thousandth time) and voila--it FINALLY opened!!!"
I've also found many other isntances of this complaint with AMD Processors--Photoshop gets a window open then goes into Not Responding. All other applications don't open at all (but are visible in my task manager). So it's not really a Photoshop specific complaint but I'm placing it here.
I've updated graphics card, changed the desktop theme to Classic, not Aero, tried running the programs in different compatibility modes, all to no avail.
This patch these guys are mentioning has GOT to be it. Someone help me get back to work!!
    thank you all in advance.

I had not tried "run as administator." What the hell is that?! I see where to do it and all, but honestly, these permissions
/security/owner/administrator issues on Windows 7 are nothing short of ridiculous.
Every time I think Microsoft may have finally done something right...
I'll try that again down the road. For the moment, looks like Adobe Acrobat 8 is completely incompatible with Windows 7 and almst impossible to delete from the system. SO first task--restoring factory setttings.
In the meantime I'll speak to that patch for Licenseing:
Solution 1: I ran it, but didn't seem to do anything. There was no confirmation of a successful "install," or what you might call it. Secondly, when running again, I was never prompted to enter 0.
Solution 2: I believe those settings were already set as described and so I couldn't really make any changes.
Solution 3: Those folders don't exist, so couldn't do that one.
For various other reasons I wasn't having luck with the next couple thanks to stupid permissions. I'll try again once I've gotten back up to speed.
But yea, someone out there seems to have found a CS3 patch. Am I at least to presume that CS5 would def. work on my comp, and therefore, CS6 is a shoe-in?

  • Illustrator CS3 wont open

    Hi folks,
Ive recently started having problems trying to open Illy CS3...Im getting the window saying 'The application Illustrator has unexpectedly quit' when I try and open it.
From reading these forums I have done various things that people have said to do, ie:
    1) Send the crash report
    2) Check font book for any corrupt fonts
    3) Deleted fonts I never use.... now I have 288 fonts, is that still too many?
    4) Ive created a new user but still no luck
    5) Ive restarted the machine a few times
    6) Ive went to user/library/preferences and deleted the illustrator cs3 folder
and none of these have worked.
    Im using a 24" Imac...2.93 GHz...Intel core 2 duo...4GB memory...and ive still loads of space on disc.
    Any help is great.
    Thanks

I have to ask you a couple of things first,
Did you quit Illustrator before you trash the Illustrator Settings folder?
Did at the same time trash the com.adobe.illustrator.plist file also in your user's preferences? You can try trashing both but you must first quite Illustrator.
Did you try to disable all your fonts except for the systems fonts?
When you created a new user did you load your fonts under that new users? I think you loaded your fonts, you should not have if you did!
Did you delete the font data base files the AdobeFnt.lst files?
I do not think you did that at all.
I think you have a corrupt font or your scratch disk is pretty full.

  • CS3 Wont open at all???

I have used CS3 to edit my webpage before with no problems at
all.. However recently I cant even open the programme. Regardless
of whether it is opened by the menu bar or via to 'edit in
contribute' button in my web browser it will not open. Just sits
idle on the initial logo box and when I CTRL+ALT+DEL to check it's
function it is not listed as an active programme and claims "not
responding" when I right click to close the text box.
    HELP!! this is so annoying!
Any advice or direction would be fantastic.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try deleting this file.
    com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
~/Library/Preferences. Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, you may need to reinstall the Safari application. Do this from your install disk.
Then click the Apple Menu / Software Updates to bring your Safari application up to date, then repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Photoshop CS3 wont open any files?

I'm running photoshop cs3 and recently every time I try and open a file nothing happens, well what happens is I see the open file box pop up and disappear and then I can not do anything in PS, every time I click something I hear a noise and thats it, I have to restart Photoshop.
The only way to open a file is if I drag and drop a file in PS.
I'm running windows XP service pack 2 if that helps at all, and yes I have reinstalled and the problem still persists.

and if that doesn't work, try this:

  • PS CS3 Wont open certain PSD anymore

I have been using some PSD files I got from a friend a couple months ago.
Tonight was the first time I have not been able to open them in CS3.
I get the message saying that the files couldn't be opened because of a program error.
I tried resetting my prefs, I even reinstalled the program, and downloaded the files from their original email, as well as put them in another directory.
    Nothing seems to help.
Any ideas why I would suddenly get this issue?

You probably have a network printer installed or such info is stored in the file, causing the notorious issue. Look into that. Make a local printer the system default or even unplug your network...

  • CS3 wont open NEF

    I can't get these NEF's to open.
I have downloaded the updated camera raw plug in.
I have checked to make sure only one plug in was installed. There were  two. I deleted the one I had earlier placed in the "Plug-in > File Formats" file. Because I read an old thread explaining that only one plug in can be installed at a time.
I can not find the original plug-in in the "plug-ins" folder. So I cannot delete it.
I tried using the adobe installer thinking it would uninstall the old plug in for me and it would not work.
I really have no idea what I am doing, I just followed instructions I found in this forum from years ago and was unsuccessful.
    Jack

    Good link, YammerP!  Thanks.
Keeping in mind that Adobe stops adding new camera support to older versions of Photoshop when they release a newer version (so in your case, Camera Raw 4.6 is the latest version that will work with Photoshop CS3), then you'll need to go look up whether your camera is supported in version 4.6.
In general, here's another way to check:
    1. Look on one of the following two pages for the latest Camera Raw version update that works with your Photoshop version:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform =Windows
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=39&platform =Macintosh
    2. Follow the link to the highest-numbered Camera Raw update for your version of Photoshop.
    3. Follow the link within that page to the ReadMe information for that version of Camera Raw.
    4. Go to the section in your native language and look through the complete list of supported cameras to see if your model is there.
If your camera model is not shown there, your options are:
    A. Buy a Photoshop upgrade to the latest version so you can open your raw files right into Photoshop.
    B. Download and install the free Adobe DNG Converter so that you can convert your raw files to DNG format, which your version of Photoshop can open.
    C. Buy Photoshop Lightroom, which also provides a converter. Note that this will not be integrated with your older version of Photoshop.

  • CS3 wont open .psd files from Lightroom

I am working on a Mac in Lightroom 2.6, when I use the keyboard shortcut for open or toggle a file to open in CS3, the menus open alongside of the CS3 window but the images itself is not opening.  I attempted to use the selection edit in CS3 without success also.  I am able to use the selection edit in Photoshop Elements and the image opens in Photoshop Elements and I am unable to get the files/images to open in CS3.  I might have struck an errant key at some time.  I am about to pull what little hair I have left out.  If anyone has the cure or remedy, it will save me from being bald thanks

Right-click on the psd in LR and select 'Edit in PHotoshop'.That will open it in Photoshop with its current filename or a new filename with Edit added to the end, with or without any LR edits you may have added to it.

  • Created website in flash cs3, wont open once hosted...

I tried to find the answer here in the forums but couldn't,.  I'm sorry, i bet this question has been posted before..
I created a website in flash cs3.  published it so that I now have an index.html, home.swf and AC_RunActiveContent.js file.
when I upload these to host, the url just shows blank white page.  I called customer support of host, godaddy, and they said the server could not find the swf file.
are they named incorrectly?  I'm new to this...
    thank you very much

According to a quick check there is no file by the name of...
    So... two things:
    1. Never use spaces in the names of files you intend to use on the web.  That space can break code up.  It is best to use an underscore if you need to, but not an empty space.
    2. After you change the name and get things updated in the code for the new name, make sure your spelling is correct.
After you have loaded the newly named file you should be able to access it directly on the web using ... newfilename.swf
where newfilename is whatever new name you give it.

  • CS3 programs installed but wont open.

Most of my cs3 programs wont open. I am running Windows Vista and have the Adobe CS3 master collection.
It appears as though Bridge is the only one that will open. Photoshop for example, will open the grey background with "file" "tools" etc. but will not go any further.
I have a new HP Pavilion dv5 with 2Ghz core duo, and 2GB ram.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Help me too!!! I'm having exactly the same problem!!!
I had CS3 installed on my old computer running XP and everything worked fine. Then the motherboard (or something) on that computer fried so I bought a new one that has Vista Home Premium.
I've tried everything I can think of. I loaded it, the repaired it, then uninstalled it and reinstalled it in the "Program Files" directory (before it had been loaded in the "Program Files (x86)" directory) and repaired it in that directory.
I've tried opening every one of the programs, all except Photoshop end up doing nothing. When I look under Task Manager, there is nothing going on the "Applications" tab. But under the "Processes" tab, I see the exe file is loaded and going.
The main program I'm trying to use is AfterEffects - I tried to open it earlier so right now in "Processes" the pogram "AfterFX.exe *32" is loading and running but it's not working!!
It's driving me NUTS! I really have ton of work to do and I'm wayyy behind as it is with the stupid computer croaking. Now I can't even try to catch up because I can't open the program!

  • Photoshop wont open PNG or GIF files

i have recently encounter a problems that when i tried to opened the PNG or GIF files that i save earlier, photoshop CS3 just wont open it. It keeps giving me a messages saying "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file". I even reinstall the photoshop, but still receiving the same problem. If there any way i could fix it?
    Thanks,

I just figured out my problem with this as I was gettig the same error message. Not sure if the following information will help with other's problems or not - I am using Photoshop CS3.
First, I made sure my plug ins for png were updated. You can find the instructions for manually updating this direct from adobe site..... http://www.adobe.com/uk/support/security/bulletins/apsb07-13.html
Though my plug in for png was not updated, I realized that my mistake was rather simple. I was creating png's in photoshop by saving as, and just typing in .png after the filename instead of choosing .png from the file extension drop down. I wasn't choosng png from drop down extension list because it wasn't appearing as an option, I thought this was weird but I just typed it in myself. It seemed to save just fine, however upon trying to reopen the png file, I was getting the same error message in phtooshop as Kelly.
The solution - Photoshop does not give you the option to save a file as .png if it is in CMYK image mode. It must be in RGB, which makes sense since .png is a file format created mainly for web viewing. Once you change your image to RGB (menu option: Image/Mode/select RGB), the .png file extension will appear in the drop down and you should not get an error message when opening the file.
If you were not the creator of the .png file, then you may need to contact whomever saved this file and let them know they need to resave it as mentioned above.
    hope this helps!
