Soundbooth CS5 Transcription From Speech to Text

Does anyone know if Soundbooth's transcription accuracy rate can be improved for a single speaker?  If not, is there another Adobe software program that will permit a user to accomplish that function?
Thanks,
KB Johnson

To use the Speech to Text option, you want to tap on the microphone icon in the Compose option  and a window will come up with that shows Speak now.
If this is not working for you, go into your phone settings and select applications, then Manage Applications. Locate your email and select clear the cache .

  • From Audacity to Soundbooth CS5 (aka improving speech)

    Hello all,
I have been using Audacity for years and I needed to change because of a requirement to output FLV audio with cue points. Soundbooth appears to have this capability.
I have used Audacity to edit speech files and I consistantly applied the following procedures in order to enhance the speech:
1- Sample and apply noise removal
    2- Apply Low Pass filter with:Rolloff 6db, q = 0.7, Cutoff = 5500 Hz
3- Apply Bass Boost with: Frequency = 200 Hz, Boost = 8 dB
As I mentioned, I am new to Soundbooth and I would like to know how to do the equivalent in Soundbooth. Additionally, if anyone has other suggestions on improving speech quality (I am aiming for Public Radio quality.. suitable for training audio). I am constrained with actual recording quality so I need to work as much 'magic' as possible in post production.... I have been relatively successful with those Audacity perimeters.
While experimenting with Soundbooth, I think I have found most of the equivalents but please confirm if these are best practices:
    1-Noise Removal
Select dead air section of recording, click Processes, select Capture Noise Print
click Processes, select Reduce Noise, Use default settings (Use Captured Noise Print - checked)
2-Low pass and bass boost seem to be handled by EQ:Parametric (advanced)
I am unsure if I like what the Male Voice Enhancer does (it seems to introduce artifacts to the audio)
    Any suggestions or comments?
Finally, is there a way to automate these audio enhancements to quickly process the audio and move on the next of many wav files.
    Thank you

The following help file specifically states that one can indeed embed cue points within a saved .flv file.

This does not work for me in Soundbooth CS4 and I am unable to test CS5.

  • Is there Speech to Text Software Capabilities? .... for Adobe Acrobat PDF Fillable Forms - Mac

    Hi,
I hope that someone can help me with this.....
I create forms in InDesign and export to Adobe Acrobat PDF. I create a fillable version in Acrobat so my clients "field therapists" can fill the forms out utilizing their laptops and iPads when on location with client. The forms they fill out, most use the mac, and they are now requesting that the fillable PDF forms have the capability to render text when it is spoken. (Speech to Text) also if written with a stylus pen the want it to render the text in the fields (handwriting to text)
I have researched and have found a company that has software that does this for mac, called dragon, but they said I need to test the software to see if it does what I need it to do with the acrobat pdf.
Has anyone implemented this "speech to text" and "handwriting to text" in any of their Adobe Acrobat PDF fillable forms?
If so, what did you find worked, or what did you find that did not work.
All responses welcome, I am hopeful I can find software that will work with existing mac adobe acrobat fillable PDF forms so I dont have to change the manner in which I am creating my forms for this client.
P.S. FYI, I am not looking for responses that are a response for 508 Compliant forms which is speaking the text, this I do for clients and this I know how to do, it is quite different from "Speech to Text"
Thanks in advance for all responses.

There really is nothing Adobe can do about how non-Adobe software functions. The PDF standard is no longer controlled by Adobe, it's controlled by ISO. Some PDF viewers choose to have no support for forms, some have pretty good support, and some (like Preview) are simply malevolent. There is a lot of non-Adobe software that creates bad PDFs, and a lot that doesn't have nearly the support of Acrobat/Reader. Again, this isn't a problem Adobe can solve.
Regarding, allowing image formats with the buttonImportIcon method and Reader, I know a feature request has been submitted for this. Reader 11 is the first version since Reader 5 that supports this, so I have hope for the future. In the mean time, it's fairly easy nowadays to convert an image to PDF. Even Preview can do it.

  • Adobe Clip Notes picking up random words and timecode markers from speech transcription metadata

I've been experimenting with the speech transcription feature in Premiere CS4 - sometimes my results are good, sometimes not. Regardless, after I'm finished editing my project and export it via Adobe Clip Notes for client review, the clip notes file has hundreds of random words from the speech transcription already time stamped in the PDF. The only way to remove them seems to be going through the PDF document and deleting them one by one. There are no markers visible in the Premiere timeline or anywhere else before I export the file. I would go back and delete the entire transcription from the metadata panel in Premiere, but there doesn't seem to be any way to do a bulk delete.
Anyone else run into this problem?
    Thanks!
    Ed
P.S. I'm all up to date as far as software is concerned.

I have a very similar issue,,, analysis text field is always empty
I tried with avi files, with mp3... same result...
I am using c5.5 but also tried a trial CC with the same outcome.
    very strange

  • Unable to download/preview sounds or scores from Resource Central in Soundbooth CS5

I'm trying to download sounds and scores from Resource Central in Soundbooth CS5, but I get the following errors numbers:
    (404) Error:0 when trying to download
    (0) ioError:-1 when trying to preview
However, the online indicator is green and I am still able to view and search through the list of sounds/scores, so I am not sure what is causing the errors to occur. This didn't happen to me until after the start of May 2013.
I've tried restarting Soundbooth, but the problem still persists.
    I'm running Soundbooth CS5 on 64-bit Windows 7.

It is probably simply gone. SB has long been deprecated and "start of May" sounds exactly like the files simply went offline. Haven't seen any announcements on that, but I'm sure they exist somewhere...

  • Speech to Text: Is it working for you?

Is anyone finding the speech-to-text function accurate enough to be useful? I was really looking forward to this feature, but have found that it transcribes speech so badly that it takes nearly as much time to correct it as it would to do a complete transcription. The audio quality of my source is very good -- a well-recorded studio interview. Is anyone having better luck? If you are, do you have any tips? I'm using a Mac, and transcribing American English.
    Thanks.
    David

This feature works best with "talking heads". Someone speaking into a good quality mic, in a clear measured pace. The best results I've seen were from audio that was recorded while someone was either reading or speaking from a prompter.
That being said, I just read your post into my Macbook's built-in mic and got the following:
"is anyone finding the speech to text function accurate enough to be useful I was really looking forward to this feature but it fell to the transcript speech so badly that it takes nearly as much time to correct it as it were to do a complete transcription the audio quality of my sources very good they will recording studio interview is anyone having better luck if you are do you have any tips I'm using a Mac and Trent spreading American English thanks David"
Your mileage may vary... I selected "High Quality" for the transcription.

  • What's the best way to capture speech as text in live or recorded Adobe Connection sessions?

    Hi
What's the best way to capture speech as text in live or recorded Adobe Connection sessions?
We would like to have a transcript of the presentation. Is Adobe Connect compatible with Dragon speech recognition software - or is there a preferred Adobe product or method?
We use PCs running Windows 7 Enterprise.
    thanks

The class java.util.Date is not itself deprecated, however several of its methods are.
For converting string -> date, you should use the class java.text.SimpleDateFormat. That allows you to specify format strings such as MM-dd-yyyy hh:mm:ss for converting date -> string -> date.
If you are wanting to set day/month/year on the date object directly, instead of the Date methods setDay, setMonth, setYear, you should instead use the java.util.Calender class:
    calendar.set(Calendar.MONTH, 4);
The calendar can then be converted to a Date object by calling calendar.getTime().
If you are going to use the date as part of a sql query, I would recommend using a Prepared statement, and the java.sql.Date/java.sql.Timestamp class as well.
To convert from java.util.Date to java.sql.Date)
    jva.util.Date utilDate = Calendar.getInstance().getTime();
    java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(utilDate.getTime());cheers,

  • How to view higher frequencies in Soundbooth CS5

I am using a zoom h2 portable recorder and set the settings to 96khz at 24bit. But I load the audio file into Soundbooth CS5 it only shows up 10khz in the Spectral Frequency Display. How do I view above that? I would like to see all the way up to 96,000Hz.

Best place to start is by telling us which camera model the NEF files are from.

  • Soundbooth CS5 FLV Cue Point Woes

I have been attempting to use Soundbooth CS5 to insert cuepoints in .flv files (audio track only) to cue up some audio stuff in Flash using the FLVPlayback Class. It seems the implementation of cuepoints/markers in Soundbooth is really buggy and prone to either not working at all or producing unexpected results. Here are some problems I have encountered:
    1. Soundbooth regularly does not save the cuepoints (markers) in a way that the Flash Player can detect.
This is easily verifiable - no MetaDataEvents are dispatched on playback (to indicate a cuepoint has been reached) and the 'findNearestCuePoint' method of FLVPlayback returns an Object with a null 'array' property - I have to use this to access the cuepoints when the flv is loaded (for some pre-processing) because, weirdly, Adobe engineers did not think that making the cuepoints accessible for a (fully loaded) .flv was useful - there is a cuepoints property but it is write-only. Yet, I can get an array of them via this method! Bizarre.
Both of these things (MetaDataEvent dispatch & the cuepoints array 'hack') occasionally work so I'm confident it's not my code. In fact, I have some .flv files that work perfectly and some that don't - these have all been created by me in Soundbooth.
At first, saving cue points did not work at all for any file! I struggled with this for two days before resorting to re-installing SB and it magically started (almost) working.
    2. Soundbooth sometimes doesn't save changes to the markers.
When SB does feel like saving the cue points (and they are picked up in Flash), subsequent edits appear in the SB interface (eg. deleting a marker) but not in Flash. I have .flvs that I've edited which will report x number of markers but the 'findNearestCuePoint' objects 'array' property returns an array of the length before I made the changes/re-saved the file.
    3. Soundbooth sometimes doesn't like re-saving files created in Soundbooth.
I open up the .flv created in Soundbooth itself, edit it and then hit 'Save', this appears:
"The file was saved with unknown compression or with an unsupported destination rate, please choose your destination format and language".
Great. It takes me to 'Save As' so I can select a new name/file-format and I just select the same one it was saved under before (.flv). I have to change the filename too, because SB doesn't like saving over a file that's open in SB, either.
    4. Sometimes it all works!
And I have no idea why. I just keep opening the file I need to use re-save it under a different file name, select different export options, re-compile my app and sometimes it works fine - my app doesn't throw any errors (the ones it throws when there are no cuepoints, or the number of cuepoints is not the number it expects).
At first I thought it was the export settings but it isn't - I can select the same ones each time and get different results. Saving the export settings makes no difference, it NEVER works the second time round.
I can provide code/files if needed.

I have a solution.  Bring the mp3 file that you edited into Premiere.  From Premiere, export
media to an flv.  From within the export media dialog, import your cue points xml file.  It worked on my first try.
The problem is: why does it work from Premiere, but not Media Encoder or Soundbooth?
Adobe, please fix this, it's a very bad bug!

  • Speech to text cs6 - NO HELP?

i'm going round in circles, and there's still no built in help for cs6!?
i get as far as analysis, but the anyalysied text is gibberish (using a clear spoken subject with australian english lang pack). nor do i get the buttons described in the video (ie. transcribe, etc.,) on adobe tv explaining how to use this feature - this feature being one of the main reasons i decided to buy into prempro.
is there a simple clear guide anywhere to using this feature in cs6?
frustrated, and with no hair left to tear out ;-(

    Hi Leslie,
The Help page you're looking for is here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7d0fa .html#WS29F692D2-7A49-44db-A109-AE016B766767
If you're looking for speech to text to get closer to actual speech, you'll have to attach a script to the clip prior to analysis. Without a script, the feature is not as useful as you've found out.
Help has been on the web since ship, just press F1.
As you know from your other thread, we are still putting together the PDF.
    It's almost finished.

  • Soundbooth CS5 has stopped working

I have CS5 Master Collection and Windows 7.
Most of the program are working but Soundbooth and Photoshop 32bit is giving me problem.
Upon initialization of Adobe Soundbooth I see the splash screen as it loads it's components then all of a sudden I get an error message that "Adobe Soundbooth CS5 has stopped working", A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I try reinstalling the soundbooth component but no success, did anyone come across this problem and know how to fix it.

I am experiencing the same problem with SoundBooth and the SFC.EXE program didn't help resolve it.  Soundbooth continues to crash each time it is started.  All other Adobe products function fine.  I regularly use Photoshop, Flash, Bridge, and Acrobat without any problems.
Identifying the nature of the problem with this type of error message is elusive. The following may help to identify the problem:
Create a new user account on the computer - set it as administrator.
Log in to the new user account.
Start SoundBooth and wait for the error message.  This is the very first time Soundbooth is run and it must be the very first time the error message is displayed.  This first error message is unique as it contains the specific information regarding why the error occurred.  All subsequent error messages just provide a generic message.  In this first error message, the details section must be expanded to show information about the error.
For me, SoundBooth starts, the splash screen appears, and when SoundBooth attempts to load MCmpgACodec.vca, SoundBooth stops working.
Perhaps the original post is experiencing problems with a corrupt codec file.
In order to correct the problem SoundBooth was uninstalled and then reinstalled:
Control Panel > programs and features > Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection > uninstall
The SoundBooth folder was deleted from c:\program files (x86)\adobe\
Soundbooth was reinstalled using the Adobe discs (when reinstalling make sure to only install SoundBooth and not the entire suite)

  • Speech-to-Text Keeps Turning Itself Off!

I am trying to use speech to text to reduce arm strain when using the computer. Unfortunately, I have to switch from speaking to typing to fix each line, and speech to text keeps turning off while I'm fixing each line. It is a nuisance having to fix each line, and an added nuisance having to turn speech to text back on for each line.
Any suggestions? I already use enhanced dictation. I already picked up a ... @#$% malfing ... new mic. Dragon is outside my price range.

Incidentally, it would help if speech-to-text status showed up in the menu bar.

  • What is the speed/performance comparison between Soundbooth CS5 and Audition CS6?

Obviously, I don't need to be convinced about the difference. However, in demonstrating and working with Audition I didn't take a note of these speed differences. Does anyone have this information for business justification reasons?
I am looking for the speed of a sound file (*.wav, approximately 1-5minutes in length) rendering in Soundbooth CS5 and Audition CS6 as well as a comparison of doing 10 files (approximately 1-5 minutes in length each) in Soundbooth and in Audition CS6 (using batch processing) to *.mp3 with basic processes applied. Basic processes that I am checking are Noise Reduction, Trimming front and end silences, Normalization, and rendering to *.mp3 (from *.wav). If anyone can do this for me, that would be awesome!!

    travis_smith_ wrote:
Hello _durin_, yes all those are great arguments that I've already included; however, some people like to use accurate measures/times/processes...they want numbers.
So, do you (or anyone else) happen to know the render engine speed of 1 file in Soundbooth v. 1 file in Audition?
What Durin hasn't perhaps made quite clear is that you'd have to do this on just one machine to come up with any comparisons at all - and if that machine isn't identical to yours, then it's going to be meaningless anyway; some of the processes (like NR) will vary considerably between two different machines, even running the same software. There is no way on earth that this would be an accurate comparison, and I don't think it would convince anybody who actually understood what was at issue. This is the politest way of saying that it's not going to happen... and if Durin, as Audition's Product Owner, isn't prepared to commit himself, then nobody's going to.... BUT:
Now I am moving towards the argumentation that it should replace everyone's Soundbooth, which is why I need the justification. I would run the tests myself over the current set of files, but with the license gone, I cannot.
Your real justification isn't going to be based on anything like dodgy process measurements at all, but this: Soundbooth is discontinued - there's very little, if any, support for it now, and there will be no updates to cope with OS changes, etc. Audition, on the other hand, is a long-term, well-supported software product that's under active development, and this is clearly intended to continue. Also there are business package deals to be done (like active subscriptions, etc) that simply weren't available to Soundbooth users, which companies can use far more flexibly. I think you'll find that arguements like this will cut far more mustard than any odious comparisons of 'speed' will.

  • Where is Soundbooth CS5 score 'Afternoon Sun?'

I have Soundbooth CS5 on a laptop with a Windows 7 64bit OS. I loaded the score 'Afternoon Sun' on it several years ago and use it for background music on a closing section of a weekly radio broadcast that I edit with Soundbooth. I just purchased a new desktop with Windows 8.1 and I loaded my Soundbooth CS5 into it.
Problem: The scores from my laptop will not come across to the desktop.
One customer referenced a page that has Soundbooth CS4 score zip files which download and work perfectly, [ http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=131&platform=Windows ], but this list does not include "Afternoon Sun."
Also, I found a page [ https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=auditionloopology ] that has a larger list of Soundbooth score zip files, but it does not include "Afternoon Sun," either.
    HERE IS WHAT I NEED:
    1. I need to find a link that has an "Afternoon Sun" Soundbooth score zip file that I can download load into my Soundbooth scores in my new desktop computer. Or, as an alternative, can you give me step by step instructions on how to pull "Afternoon Sun" from my old laptop and place it into my new desktop computer using a USB flash thumb drive.
    2. Also, what is going on with Resource Central? I can't get it to open up. HAS RESOURCE CENTRAL BEEN SHUT DOWN? If Resource Central was still active, it would sure make things easier!
Answering these two questions would be very helpful to me.
    Thank you very much.

Soundbooth is dead and those servers are offline most likely. I haven't seen any official note on this, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be the case...

  • Anyone got the speech to text in messages to work?

Speech to text is not worrking on my iphone 4s, any ideas how to activate this function?

From what I can see on the internet, there are a lot of people saying that SIRI is not working saying that "it cannot connect to the network". It worked fine for me a couple of hours ago.
For fridayxiii, you have to actually say "period" and "question mark" and SIRI will plug it in for you.
