Soundbooth markers into AE

I am trying to animate some text to spoken words that I have recorded. I have the audio file in Soundbooth and have made the flash cue points marked when each word is said with the (*) key, I would like to get those markers into AE so that I can animate text to each word. I consider myself to still be a newbie at AE, I have done a few 3D text animations among other things, and think that I can handle the project if only I could get the markers to come in with the file. Is there something I am not doing? Please help me out.
Donny

Unfortunately the exchange of markers does not work from Audition to Premiere Pro.
Is there any way of achieving this? I need it urgently.
I tested your workflow:
Save an Audition Multitrack session that has markers as a .wav mixdown (with "include markers and other metadata" activated).
import this .wav into AE => markers show on layer (OK)
import this .wav into Premiere Pro => no markers, neither in the source monitor nor in the sequence window
Is this really not supported? Is there any workaround to get the markers into Premiere?
It is hard to believe that it does work for AE but is not implemented for Premiere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Andreas

  • How to import markers from soundbooth cs5 into audition cs6

Hello, a series VO wav files were  recorded in SB CS5 and markers where then added .
On opening them in Audition CS6 for multitrack editing all markers are missing.
Then in SB XML files of markers where exported for each file but there is no way Audition will open them, with a warning of corrupted or unsupported format.
So, how can one get either wavs (with markers) orxml markers  into audition cs6 that where created in SB?

    evan.fotis wrote:
How is it, that Adobe uses these xml marker format which AE & PP will recognize (cause they were meant for the suite) but not AU!.. especially now that SB is dumped and AU is supposed to be its successor even though they coexisted previously.
Difficult with integration issues... part of the problem is that, of course, Audition wasn't integrated into the suite when SB was its audio editor - and as such didn't require to be suite-compatible.
Because I don't ever run into these problems - simply because I don't do video - I don't have all of the answers. I do have a question though; if you open your SB file in CS6 Premiere, do you have the same problem with the markers? IOW, can you use the new version as a converter, since I believe that it's possible to transfer markers back and forth (isn't it???) between Premiere and Audition in the new version. Or is that screwed as well?
So this yields the question, what format markers will AU recognize and import? any workaround that does not invovle manually adding them in AU? perhaps renaming to txt or something that AU will understand?
Probably the best person to answer this is Suite Spot, because he's the one that has done all the development work on AATranslator, and has probably forgotten more about this than the rest of us know! What I'm pretty sure of though is that SB doesn't feature in the converter.

  • Problem renaming Soundbooth markers

Anyone else seeing this - sometimes during marker rename, Soundbooth 1.0 (build 999) nabs capital letters as keyboard shortcuts instead of putting them into the Name field. This is on an Intel Mac OS X 10.4.11. Here is one way to make this happen.
    1. Move aside user Soundbooth settings (optional; sets baseline for test). These are
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Soundbooth/1.0/Workspace and
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Soundbooth/1.0/Adobe Soundbooth Prefs
    2. Start Soundbooth.
    3. Open some .mp3 file. File / Open / ... click on file name in browser
    4. Select a stretch of a few seconds in the file by dragging in the Editor panel.
    5. Use the menu bar to zoom - "View / Zoom To Selection". Bug may not appear if you use the keyboard shortcut.
    6. Open Markers panel.
    7. Click "+" icon to add a Marker.
    8. Click in "Name" field to edit marker name. Field outline turns blue.
    9. Try to change name from "Marker 01" to "Marker 01F". Pressing "F" toggles frequency display instead of inserting F into marker name. Other shortcut keys are also erroneously intercepted by the GUI.
    Workarounds:
Don't use capital letters in marker names.
Don't use menu form of View/Zoom..., use "S".
Copy desired marker name from some non-Soundbooth window and paste into Marker panel.
    Save work and restart Soundbooth.

Scott: It took me this entire day (9 hours), to tediously "sync" my imported soundtrack of various sounds, with 30 jpegs, and it isn't because I'm not doing the procedures correctly. I'll telling you this, because, sadly enough, you might encounter a similar problem in IMovie-09...When you open the clip Duration (Inspector), and change the time of a single image from the usual 04:00 (seconds), to say,03:24, and hit 'Done", then go back to check the time, you'll find that in some cases, the "new" time may be 02:00 or 04:00, or whatever iMovie decides to enter. This doesn't happen with every image, but it did on 3 of mine. I have no idea how to correct/prevent this from happening again tomorrow. (?) I just loaded Logic Studio last week, and thus far, making a film in iMovie *****!
    Good Luck!

  • Import markers into Premiere CS5 from file

    Hello out there!
We are developing a video annotation tool which can be used for segmenting, annotating and describing videos, quite similiar to how ClipNotes worked in Adobe Premiere CS4, but more sophisticated. Since we're developing the application in Java, we used the ClipNotes XML-format (xfdf) to exchange the segment information with Adobe Premiere. Segment-borders were represented as markers and could thus be imported into Adobe Premiere. Since Adobe Premiere CS5 doesn't support ClipNotes anymore, I was wondering if there is another/better alternative for importing markes from another application into Adobe Premiere using a standard exchange format. I tried to modify the projects-XML description (the prproj-file) but ran into some XML-issues (appearantly the order of XMl-attributes matters in the project-XML file?!). Is there anyone out there who has an idea how to solve this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sebastian Kirch

Have you looked at the SDK? If you don't get what you are looking for here, post in the Premiere SDK forum.

  • Can you import xml index markers into InDesign?

My tech writer is putting index markers in the xml as he writes. Is there a way to import the xml and InDesign recognize the xml index markers?

We are having the same issue and haven't been able to find a solution.  Ideally we would like to import the XML into an InDesign layout with XML markup that would be interpreted by InDesign as an index item and would then create the appropriate index term.  Does anyone know if this type of XML feature is supported?

  • Importing Adobe Premiere m2v's w/chapter markers into DVDSP?

Working on a project where the m2v files are being created by someone else using Adobe Premiere 2.0 on a PC. (They're creating the chapter markers within Premiere)
In my initial tests, I'm able to get the video and audio files (m2v, ac3) into DVDSP, but not chapter markers.
Does anyone have experience with this kind of situation?
Is there an export setting in Adobe Premiere that would help?
An import setting in DVDSP that would help?
Is it possible to import Adobe Premiere created m2v's into DVDSP with chapter markers?
    Thanks.
    G5 - Dual 2GHz Processor   Mac OS X (10.3.6)

the meta data that premiere stores its chapter marker info is not compatible with dvdsp. That being the case, you could have your friend give you a text document with the timecodes for the chapter markers in a column, each timecode followed by the chapter name if you want something other than the standard "chapter 1, chapter 2" etc.
Because your friend chose the chapter markers in premiere, when the m2v was encoded, the apropriate I-Frames were placed so that in DVDSP you should have no problem placing a chapter marker at the exact timecode your friend specifies.
    hope that helps

  • Copy sequence markers into another sequence

    Anyone willing to bite?
I'd like to copy some sequence markers (which all have unique text) from one sequence into another.
I'm assuming this would be a scripting thing or a fancy xml trick.
Am I wrong? Is this too complicated to be worthwhile?
    thanks,
    jack

In case you not just want a copy of the sequence with the marker, here the "fancy XML trick":
Export your source sequence and the destination sequence as XML.
Open them in TextEdit (as UTF8). Scroll down to the end of the text files.
You'll see the end of the last marker of the source sequence as "</marker>", select this line with double-click and shift-click the beginning of the line of the first marker "<marker"> - you'll have to scroll up normally a while.
Copy and paste into the destination sequence before the end line of the sequence "</sequence>. Save and re-import into FCP.

  • Can't import edited Soundbooth file into Premiere?

    Hi,
I've been editing a project and used Soundbooth to clean up the sound.  Worked well with several clips, the edited version appeared on the Premiere Timeline automatically, but the most recent one doesn't seem to import to the Timeline.  It did at first, but then then the sound was out of sync, not sure why (Perhaps because I had already put an audio effect on the original audio, which I've since deleted.)  I used command Z to get rid of the out of sync audio.  That worked and the non-edited sound version appeared back on the Timeline.  But now I want the edited sound version to appear back on the Timeline again (in sync, hopefully), but I can't get it to import from Soundbooth automatically as it did before.  What can I do?  I saved the audio in Soundbooth and it's still there with all the edits I've made.  I also tried to click on the un-edited audio in the Premiere Timeline and send the audio back to Soundbooth, but that only created a second, unedited file.  I don't want to have to reedit everything again, so what can I do?  Can I get the edited sound file to appear on the Timeline manually, or could I copy the edits from the first file to the second file and then have that appear in Premiere?  I'm using CS4.
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Never mind, looks like I fixed it importing the file from Premiere Pro and dragging and dropping it onto the Timeline.

  • Will Apple add Chapter markers into FCPX?

I know there are a lot of features that aren't in FCPX that people are complaining about.  I have to say there are some nice features that I do like.  However, the one feature that I really, really need is the ability to create chapter markers.  I do weddings and events, and those videos NEEDS CHAPTERS.  Can anyone from Apple tell us please if in version 10.0.1 there will be a little check box that says chapters?  Cause that would be so nice.

Well I have got the feelign for quite sometime that Apple has viewed optical media as old scholl and has been pushing streaming media via iTunes, Apple.tv and the like.
So it's no surprise that Apple didn't update DVDSP with the last FCS3 updates, and has since dropped DVDSP entirely now.  So now you only can create primitive DVDs and no longer have chapter larkers to perform this taks.
On top of that FCPX seems to be pretty much setup to optimize edits for streaming (online) purposes.  So once again it's not surprising to me that they didn't even bother including chapter markers for DVD creation.
Now the shortsightedness of this is that you mihgt be able to create streaming content with chapter markers.  Which would let one cerate and upload online DVD content as well as coorperate online content.
I still deliver a lot of optical media content so I woudl still use DVDSP anyway, but also don't like the option of having to use Compressor to perform this task.
While I do like the fact that Apple is trying to create a program that enables one to perfom multiple tasks in one application only.  It should be fully functional enough to at least perform ALL basic tasks like audio and optical media creation in that application as well.

  • Can I import markers from Soundbooth?

I'm making a slide show; I've placed markers in soundbooth at every beat. Is there a way to import those markers into AP and have the pictures change on those markers? thanks.

Yes, that is what "Automate to Sequence" is for. It takes pictures and/or video from the project panel and puts them on the timeline on those markers, applying the default transition if desired.
I am in the middle of a huge (one hour plus) slideshow. What a hassle. Without "Automate to Sequence" it would be miserable.

  • Importing markers (.CSV) from Prelude into Premiere...?

    Hi,
I need my client to be able to be able to annotate a clip, and then export his annotations as markers that I can then import into Premiere and add to the relevant sequence.
Prelude seems like an easy tool to use, so I've been exploring that. You can annotate the clip with comment markers, and then export as .csv file, but I can find no way to bring the markers into Premiere. Exporting an XML or a Premiere Project from Prelude is no good, because the markers come through as clip markers, but I need them to be sequence/timeline markers.
Is there a way to do this? Or another suggestion for an easy way for a client to annotate a clip, and then bring those annotations into Premiere?
    Thanks,
    S

This is a long-standing and complicated issue.  To start with, different media players interpret footage differently.  You can hope for the best, but there can be no expectation that footage in one player will look the same in another.  Ridiculous, but true.  The situation is further aggravated by different display cards and different monitors, and no prevailing standards of how color and levels are interpreted.
In your specific case, you need to look at the waveforms, in Resolve and in PPro.  It sounds as if the blacks are being crushed in PPro, which could mean you're monitoring them at 64 in Resolve, but they're being output at 0 or remapped to 0 in PP.   This may also relate to whether you've monitoring with data or video levels in Resolve.
Is there a setting in PPro which covers how values are mapped, as data or video?  I think so, but just can't recall....  Anybody?  Staff?

  • Chapter Markers won't appear on Marker list in FCP X settings when trying to Burn a Standard Definition Disc

    Help,
Trying to burn an SD DVD disc in FCP X from the Share menu.  I've set Orange Chapter Markers with Titles in my project from the timeline and these don't appear when I check the box to use chapter markers for Subtitles in the Destinations box to burn a DVD.  I've set a photo in the main menu and it appears with the Title of my Project, but in the Chapter Menu it only shows the default list of Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc.  Shouldn't my Chapters show up on the list after I set them up on my timeline in the project?  Also, I did burn a disc with my Chapters not showing up the chapter list and my disc only plays from the Main menu with the picture inserted.  There's a slash line in the Chapter list button stating I can't use that option and I can't play chapters.  Trying to get this project out the door before January 20, 2013.  Can someone please help?
    Thanks,
    Dave

This "Share" feature behaves the same in both FCP7 and FCPX (it may actually be the only thing they have in common).
Since the specification for DVD-Video does not support titled chapter points, the text that you have entered for the marker does not appear on the burned DVD.  You only get DVD chapter points at the same time index as the time code position of the FCP marker (and even then, it's at the closest i-frame of the MPEG2 GOP structure).  Also, the first frame is always "Chapter 1".  So, if your first FCP7/X marker at two minutes is named "Later that day...", then on the burned DVD it will appear as "Chapter 2".
Checking "use chapter markers for Subtitles" was a good guess; however, this feature turns extended markers into subtitles (a very, very quick way to create subtitles, but limited when compared to what can be done in DVD Studio Pro).
Could a QuickTime movie burned to a DVD-R/+R work instead of a DVD?  QuickTime chapter markers support text.

  • Any way to import markers to FCP?

I don't know if I overlooked something but I can not find a way to (re)import markers to a different sequence in a different project file.
I have a set of markers in a sequence (not in each clip but global to the sequence) and I exported them to a plain text file. That was the easy part.
I then have another sequence in a different project file that I need to import those markers to (in the exact same places in the time line). Is there a way to do that?

Duplicate the sequence with the markers. Open the duplicate and delete the contents. Drag the empty sequence with the markers into the the project you want it in. Copy of the contents of the sequencethat has the clips and paste them into the empty sequence that has the markets. It takes longer to type up than to do.

  • Can chapter markers be attached to clips?

I have an hour-long project that I've put plenty of chapter markers into, but now I see how I could improve it by adding a bit more video footage to a certain place early on in the timeline.
Of course, adding more video to the timeline is going to push all subsequent clips downstream, and all those downstream chapter markers are going to end up out of place.
Isn't there some way to lock chapter markers to clips so that the markers will stay with the clips, and move along with them?
    Tom

Sorry Tom ... I think I may have misrepresented the solution I was offering. "Nesting" will not actually move the sequences chapter markers into the clip itself, but rather the idea is to use the sequence (with contained chapter markers) as a virtual clip item. Unfortunately I didn't test my supposed solution before suggesting it and, just as you discovered, it won't work quite as simply as I described ... but it will work tho if you're willing to wrangle things a little.
Create a new sequence and open it in the timeline. You'll want to double check the new sequence's settings and make sure they match the original sequence, if not then now would be a good time to change them accordingly. Next, from the Browser window, drag and drop your original sequence down into the new empty sequence in your timeline. What you should get is a single "clip" representation of your original sequence ... and hopefully you will clearly be able to see those chapter markers as attached to this virtual clip (nested sequence).
Give it a try and let me know if it works for you
    Cheers

  • Using markers to automatically add numbered images to the timeline...

I've imported a .mp3 containing markers into After Effects.  I then imported in a bunch of sequentially numbered images.  My question is, how do I get those images to automatically line up with the markers (i.e. Image1.png to Marker1, Image2.png to Marker2, etc.) so I don't have to line them up manually?  My goal is to create a simple slideshow with audio.  The number of images could get into the hundreds, so automation would be preferred.  Is there a script that does this?  Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jose

I'm not aware of an existing script that does exactly that, but by hacking  this script and borrowing some code from a few others this would be perfectly doable.
