Soundbooth quit, but running in the background
Has anyone ever quite Soundbooth, yet hours and even days later found that it is running in the background in windows? I have windows 7, with a dual core processor, and the last time I had soundbooth on was 18 or so hours ago, yet right now using the windows task manager, I can see that soundbooth is taking up a full 50 percent of one of my cores processess. (It ISN'T on in running applications). And this is the first time I've found this happening...
I couldn't find any articles about this so I wasn't sure if it's just a weird glitch happening to me...
D'oh!
I meant to say this ISN'T the first time I've found this happening; it's like the fifth...
(And I also know "quit" shouldn't end with an "e")

Does iOS7 allow you to quit apps running in the background?
I can't seem to close my apps running in the background. Before the upgrade, you could double click the home button and all apps running in the background would pull up; you could then hold one down and the app would allow you to cancel it. Now , the double tap brings up all background app but holding down on these apps doesn't allow them to be cancelled. Any suggestions would be helpful!
Double tap home button, then swipe the app upward to close it.

How do I uninstall a program that is running in the background but does not show in Force Quit?
Open Activity Monitor and look for the program. Select it and Quit or Force quit it from within Acitiviy Monitor.
Search for the application with Find Any File as it can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, system folders and packages. You can drag the app and any associated files from the search result window to the Trash bin in the Dock.
OT -
If I leave Safari running in the background with zero tabs open, does it still use up bandwidth? Do I have to quit the application each time I am done to avoid exceeding my internet usage/host quota? I'd rather not have to since quitting the application and restarting it when I need to will quickly become tedious, but if that saves me on bandwidth usage, I'll do it. Thanks!
iStat pro is another good means of checking your Mac's activity. Set it up within Dashboard. It is a free facility.

The figures you mention only make sense on your intranet. Are you still using the same wireless router. The verizon one is somewhat limited as far as max wireless-n performace. For one thing it only has a 2.4 radio. I like many people who wanted wireless-n performance before they even added a wireless-n gigabit router, have my own handling my wireless-n network.

Double tap the Home button, tap & hold the Safari icon until it starts to wiggle, tap the red minus sign to remove it from the Multi-Tasking bar. Tap the Home button when finished.

Firefox is running in the background, but the process can't be ended using the task manager?
The program wouldn't open because it was apparently still running in the background, so I restarted a few times which didn't help. Then I tried using the task manager to end the process but that didn't work either. Then opened the command prompt and used taskkill, then pskill (using the PID number) but neither worked. The problem wasn't with how I was using these commands as they could close any other program I had running, just not firefox.exe*32. Any ideas?

When making a call, sometimes, my iPhone 5 , gets stuck on 'Calling' than I have to press END..but still nothing happens, than when I press HOME button, the call app keeps running in the background and it keeps saying CALLING... than I have to wait 2 - 3 minutes and call again.
please helpHas nothing to do with the SIM or master reset. This has been done to my phone. The SIM once and the factory reset many times over. You all just sold us a bad piece of equipment and have us by the tail with our contracts so none of us can get a new phone without paying full price or re-upping our contract. I just got off the phone last night with your high up tech people (you know, the hidden number we get once we tear into your support people enough), they went into my phone again and still didn't find anything wrong. I about got fired from my job for not getting my calls and texts. The BBB has now been contacted, and I feel your end should shore this up for all of us!

How do I show applications running in the background? And how do I close them down? In class, the instructor press something but she did not go into Settings. Does anyone know?
Double-click the home button that will bring up all the applications in the background.
To close then you swipe the application upward and it will close. -

I understand that you are having issues with your HP 2310m monitor going blank and/or flickering. I am providing you with some steps you can try below:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it

If I come out of my house using wifi, but fb is running in the background, will it start to use up my data for 3G?!
Unless you are actively accessing the FaceBook app or actively accessing FaceBook via Safari, nothing is being downloaded.
This applies to iOS 5 as well.

I keep getting the message that Firefox is running in the background and I cannot load another page. I have to restart my computer to get Firefox back to operating normally. I have everything closed down as far as I can tell. But when I click on the Icon it will not start another page. It just keeps telling me to shut down all browser windows and that Firefox is running in the background. I even go to ctrl/alt/delete and look at the tasks running. Nothing! It is happening a lot more often now and I hate to use Internet Explorer. I have depended a lot more on Mozilla in the past few years now and I like it. This is driving me nuts. Please help. The process is running in the background. However nothing appears on the screen for you to alter your settings.
I have windows 7 64-bit and outlook 2010.
It was working, but just stopped after several months. I have un-installed and re-installed several times, to no avail.

Re-installed older version of icloud, and then updated the software throught the apple software updater.

Having problems with Home Sharing with the WiFi. Can not seem to get the Apple TV to connect to my iTunes. Must be something running in the background of the router or laptop. Need help.
Yes to all, however ive noticed when I turn on the itues Home Sharing, and it says it is on in the File pull down, it disapears from the Livrary pull down. I attempt to view my Library on my iPhone or iPad under the Remote app and it states i have no songs or content. Although it will let me mirror my device on the TV screen.

I've just upgraded my MacBook Pro to a new Retina model, and while looking at the activity monitor I've noticed I still have an app running in the background that I thought had been deleted? Its the 'Blackberry Device Manager'? (See photo)
I've tried doing a spotlight search to try and find the program and delete? It's not in my apps list?

To delete it you will have to first kill the process in Activity Monitor, then drag the file to the Trash and delete it. If the process reappears, then drag the item to the Trash and restart the computer, after which you can Empty the Trash.
Exposing the /Home/Library/ Folder
Pick one of the following methods:
A. This method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:
chflags nohidden ~/Library
Press RETURN.
B. Click on the Desktop, press the OPTION (⌥) button, select Library from the Finder's Go menu.
C. Select Go To Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Paste the following in the path field:
~/Library
Press the Go button.
