Soundcard compatibility with a USB FM transmitter

I've upgraded to 10.4.8 and a LineX USB powered FM transmitter I have (it automatically takes any sound generated by the computer thru' the USB port to be TX'd on a tiny FM signal..) suddenly doesn't 'see the sound' anymore. Are there other soundcard drivers I could try which are similar to earlier OS X versions, namely 10.1., as it worked fine then..?

Check the output settings in the "Sound" Systems Preference and check the "Output" settings in the Audio MIDI Setup Utility (Utilities folder). They should be 44,100Hz, 16-Bits, with the volume sliders to the right.

  • Compatability with PCMCIA USB 2 & Zen Touch

    Hi,
My laptop only has USB . built in so I have recently purchased a PCMCIA USB 2 card. It appears that the card is functioning correctly and there are no problems when used with my digital camera, printer or mouse. However, when I connect the Zen Touch it starts working initially...the player says that it's docked and it seems to communicate with the computer (bringing files up in MediaSource etc...) but as soon as I try to transfer files to or from the devide the computer crashes. Firstly MediaSource stops responding, then Windows entirely freezes meaning I have to hold the power down button to reset the machine.
Please, please, please can someone help me with this problem...it's driving me insane!!
    Thanks, Tom.

I know it works properly on USB but I dont own a desktop PC to try try it on there. There was a suggestion that it may be that there is not enough power getting to the Zen from the USB socket but the software with the USB card shows the power levels and it is being supplied plenty of power.
I am becoming more curious about what is going on here becasue now I am unable to transfer music through the USB sockets on the laptop. MediaSource start to transfer then brings up and error saying that some other application is using the Zen or something along those lines.
Anyhow, I am now stuck because I dont have any other way of transferring music to or from the player.

  • Recommendation: USB media compat with Keyboard USB port

    IMac G5 20" LCD, 1GB RAM.
I need recommendations on USB memory sticks/flash drives that work connected to the USB (1.1) port on the (stock) white Apple keyboard that came with the computer.
I've done a few searches on the web, but cannot find sources that say "this works, no driver required". So I am looking for real-life people who "know" a model/brand has worked.
This is for a classroom/lab environment, so "no driver required" is a necessity.
Thanks for any/all replies to this thread.
Please send me an email as well (as I might not check this thread for a day or two).

    Hi John,
Just thought I'd add that I have a SanDisk Cruzer Mini 256MB that works fine when plugged directly into the computer or a powered hub, but I also get a low power message if I try to plug it into the usb port keyboard ("The USB device cannot operate because it needs more power than is available.").
In response to your comment "a)", this isn't entirely correct. USB 2.0 can (and was designed to) work on 1.1 ports, though the transfer speed will be reduced. Curiously, I have an iPod Shuffle (which is USB 2.0) that connects with no problems to my keyboard (USB 1.1) and there is no "low power" alert. The transfer time is noticeably slower than if it's plugged directly into the computer or hub (both USB 2.0 on my computer), but it's more convenient and often fast enough for transferring small files.
If you've discovered anything with new USB flash drives I'd be interested in hearing about it. I'm considering a new one but I would like one that I can plug it into my keyboard port.
    Cheers,
    Matt

  • IPhone 4 32GB compatibility with Volvo USB

    Hello.
I have a problem to use the USB connection with my Volvo C30 -2011. It worked with my iPhone 3GS 32GB. But when i connect the new one it tells me "Unreadable unit". Anyone else with the same problem? How to solve it?

Confirmed with an iPhone 3GS with OS4. This was working in my 2010 Volvo XC60 before OS4. One variation on the reported issue is that it would play for 1 minute before the USB Unreadable error message is displayed. Unplugging and plugging back in would only cause the same issue again. Tried the fix just now and it worked perfectly (turn off iPhone completely, plug in to car, stereo on and in USB mode). The iPhone powered up from off and rebooted. Pressed OK when prompted about the device compatibility. Note you may have to skip the first track for the fix to take effect. Apple (I know you are reading this Steve) please fix in the next release - Very frustrating!

  • Time Capsule compatibility with Wireless USB Hub

Is it possible to use a wireless USB hub with the Time Capsule? I am thinking of using a Belkin wireless USB hub, which would have the USB receiver/antenna for the hub connected to the TC, and my printer connected to the hub.
Below is the link for the Belkin Wireless USB hub that I wanted to use:
    http://shop3.frys.com/product/5845573#detailed
My reason for doing this is because I want to keep my wireless printing capabilities, but I want to move the TC downstairs and "bridge" it with my AT&T U-Verse wireless router/modem. At the moment I am not able to have my TC and router/modem in the same room.
My thinking is that this will not work because the TC will not recognize that type of USB device (i.e. the USB receiver/antenna for the hub). But if this works this would solve a great deal of logistic problems.

I still have questions about how to connect the Brother printer through ethernet. When connected does the airport utility have some area where you can identify the printer as a network printer as opposed to USB?
The AirPort Utility would only come into play if the printer was attached to the TC's USB port. Printers, attached by Ethernet, would have to "network-ready." Controlling these types of printers would be through the printer driver that you would access through the operating system interface.
In my HP example, the HP printer driver does provide access to a number of features particular to this printer model. Most manufacturers include an installation CD that provide useful utilities ... albeit most are written for Windows. I would suggest checking out the Brother support site to see if they have Mac-specific drivers or utilities.

  • What Superdrive (external USB) is compatable with Mountain Lion 10.8.3?

What Superdrive (external USB) is compatable with Mountain Lion 10.8.3?
My New install of 10.8.3, will now.... not reconize anything I put in my drive... it spits it back out!
Superdrive does NOT reconize any activity.
It will show my information on/of my drive...but, that is about it...
Is there a patch/fix for this issue with 10.8.3?
If not...why is Apple (seemingly) ignoring this issue? There are so many with the same complaint.
They want $19 to answer this question...why? I just bought the upgrade to 10.8.3 a couple of days ago.
Anyone have any suggestion, beside switching BACK to Microsoft...?

  • A730 keyboard and mouse compatibility with other machines

I would like to have a USB keyboard mouse with the machine.  Unfortunately there is not an option for that with this machine.  I would like to sell the k/m that comes with the machine.
What machines including ones not made my Lenovo would the k/m be compatible with?
According to the Lenovo support page for the drivers for this k/m the drivers are compatable with various Lenovo machines.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS031648
Does that mean the k/m are compatable with those machines?
Is a certain piece of hardware other than the k/b required for it to work?  If so, is that piece of hardware available after market?
Machine Type: M90z AIO ; Product: 3091CTO (Custom), CPU: i5-650, Video Card: Intel(R) HD Graphics, Memory: 4.00 GB,
Network Card: Intel(R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN, OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Thank you Assaf for taking the time to install the game to check to see if you got a similar problem
honestly i'm not sure its my 865PE Neo2 LS or not,it may be a software issue. I'm just guessing because that was a the biggest change in my system before I started to experiance this problem.
I have experianced this problem with the default windows drivers as well as with logitechs current Mouseware drivers, although i have not tried to install older mouseware drivers
I've had lockups with CoreCell installed as well as removed. In DirectX 8.1 as well as DirectX 9
I thought perhaps it might have been my soundcard because prior to buying that I didnt have any problems...so I removed that...but i still got the same problem (although as i type this i realize i didnt uninstall the Audigy software before i tested....hhmmm. I'll have to test that)
I have noticed it happens more often in OSP/Quake3 (a competition mod) than in plain vanilla Quake3, but it does happen in both.
One intersting thing i discovered by trying out a Belkin KB with my set up was that when i hit a certain combination of keys it would exec a chat bind i had bound to a whole other key ?!?
    the combination was r + g + spacebar = keypad home
That particular problem stopped once I went back to original Keyboard. It did stick in my mind however that when playing Q3 i am hitting combinations of keys all the time and that maybe I'm hitting a combination that is problematic for my system. I have not been able to figure out what that combintion is yet (I tried for quite a while ...but was unable to find the correct combination to reproduce the problem )

  • SATA11 is it compatable with all controller cards

I want to add 500gb HD's to my G4 Giga and know I need a SATA controller card, I am considering this one card pic is this card compatable with SATA11 hard drives?
    Powermac G4 Giga-ethernet Dual 1.2ghz 100bus 2 Gig Ram 2xHD 80gb+120gb USB1+2/FW   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   wireless network

Thanks Japamac, can I go through this deadhead style...
You can install as many OS's as you want. When you
set your Startup Disk Preferences, you are able to
select the OS that you want, as well as the disk that
    you want.
Does this mean I have to make a partion thing on the same disk for each (even the same) OS?
Do I use the original install disks to do this?
Another way to select startup disk/OS, is to boot
while holding the Option key. This will open the
Startup Manager, and allow you to select which and
where you want to boot from.
This is the screen I remember from my Apple Care Plan Help Desk days
It is a good idea to have a second (and third)
    bootable disk in your system.
Is the third disk on a partion thing ( I have researched this and have found, using "disk utility" I can make "partitions", if I understand correctly, my machine will "see" a partition as a separate disk, am I miles off?
    That way, heaven
forbid, should one disk have trouble booting, you can
use the Startup Manager to select an alternate disk,
and then diagnose and repair the ailing disk from
    there.
Do I use "disk utility" from another partition disk to do this?
This is, actually, a very important thing to
have in your system. by all means, install the OS on
    the other disk.
A partition on the 120gb, how big should the partition be?
Remember, to keep both disks backed up. So, don't
give up on your external drives all together. They
    are VERY useful.
This is where you are going to hate me... I dont have any externals or back ups.... this is why I am trying to work out what to do... I back up my photo's to DVD when I have enough, its not good practice because it can take a months worth before I have time to physically go through all the work to decide what I will archive to DVD, I would love for all of the work to automatically copy itself to a safe place.
While we are on the subject, a very good way to
backup, is to use Super Duper. This is a clone
utility. SD will copy bit for bit, your drive, and
then make that backup bootable. This is a very nice
feature. Also, after that, you can use the Smart
Update feature, which updates any changes of a volume
to it's clone. This way, you always have an exact
copy of your system and data. Invaluable!
This is obviously what I need... I will download it and try to understand its functions
I like OWC, myself. Even with shipping and tariffs to
Japan, it is most often cheaper to do so. Also, the
company is very reputable, has great service (try
their live chat) and stands behind what they sell.
OWC also has lots of install tutorial video (and
PDF's) in their support section. Check it
    out.
I have trusted OWC since you recommended them for my processor upgrade and have just ordered the SATA controller from them and am going to get a 500gb internal HD for now until I can learn to rationalise my disk space... at the moment my files are just copies of themselves on the same disk (120gb)
Hey Japamac... I have to say thank you to you sir, you have obviously put a lot of time and effort into your reply and I really do appreciate it...

  • IPad2 with automotive usb

Have a Chevy Tahoe with built in usb port which I use for my iPod - works great.
Question - can my iPad-2 also be used with this usb port, for charging and/or playing music?

However if you have something similar to Ford's Sync in your car, y ou can play music, via the USB, through the car's speakers. I can even use the sync voice control to choose songs on my iPod (never tried it on my iPad)
I can hook my iPod up two ways, via the USB so it charges and plays music, or use the USB to charge and a 1/8th inch cable to hook my headphone out to the auxiliary in and listen that way.
So...if the car has the programming and if the device has the compatibility, you can hook your device up via USB and play music.

  • Audio problems with an USB interface

Hi everyone, this is my first post and glad to finally do it.
I am so pleased with arch linux, it's just simply amazing. I have learnt a lot following the wikis, it's pretty simple and effective.
I managed to install and configure ssh server, samba server (surprisingly easy), usb samsung laser printer, nvidia drivers, KDE desktop (so fast in arch), fonts, cpu scaling and I'm so happy with the results and perfomance.
The only problem I ran into is about audio, I think the wiki on audio is pretty  incomplete (don't get me wrong I enjoy your work).
The problem is with an USB interface line 6 toneport gx (http://line6.com/toneportgx/), I know the device is meant to be an usb guitar interface but since I don't longer play guitar I use it as soundcard. As complementary information it works with no problem on Ubuntu 10.04 (which is the distro I came from).
The interface works and it's unmuted since I dmix does not work when I try to play sounds from different sources I had to install pulseaudio. Pulseaudio works partially, the sound was improved and finally I am able to play different sources. The big problem is when high cpu load ocurrs the the audio dies and does not come back even when the cpu loads decrease.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

You may want to debug pulseaudio (check their wiki to see how, involves running pulseaudio in verbose mode) to see what happens.

Then out of the blue when he hooked it up to his computer two weeks ago to purchase new music the computer would not recognize it. I have tried the five R's as recommended and updated all his programs as suggested. Any advice would be Greatly appreciated. This is the message we get when we plug the ipod into the usb " The software you are installing for hardware has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP." Thank you!

  • Question about the USB bluetooth transmitter

    Hey,
Is it possible to have the Inspire S2 Wireless speakers connected to a tv (for example my 6700 led tv from samsung). It has no bluetooth support but it has usb ports. So i was wondering can i put the usb transmitter in the tv, since the usb transmitter says: "no drivers to install".
    Will that work?
    Thanks in advance.
    -Tom

    Hello Tomdazz,
The USB bluetooth transmitter does not wok with your TV. The USB port on the TV does not have this functionality. Computer ports can usually do this because a device driver will be loaded by the computer which gives the USB port on the TV this functionality. You can also check your TV's manual for more info about the functions of the TV's ports. If I'm not wrong, TV only support Media Play. Media Play only supports USB Mass Storage Class devices (MSC). Examples are your thumb dri'ves, card readers and USB HDD.

  • Is eSATA compatable with SATA2 drives?

I have pavilion dv3000 laptop with eSATA port. Have run SATA external drives successfully.
I purchased larger SATA 2 drive (1.5TB) for backup data and computer will not recognise the drive using eSATA connection yet it does when I connect via USB.  I want to use SATA connection because of speed advantage.
Is the eSATA port compatable with SATA2?  If not, whats a fix?
    Peter

Try partitioning your external 1.5 TB hard drive to something smaller than 1 TB (maybe two equal partitions).  Your system may have a size limitation on the sata HD size.
I use an esata external enclosure containing a sata drive and I connect it to an internal sata port that I extended to the back of my PC.  I can also use this device with the esata ports on my PC. It work both ways for me. Also works with USB since my enclosure has both port types.  I see about 70 MBps using my 7200 rpm external HD. Almost twice that of USB2.

  • OAS compatibility with virtualization

I am working to verify the compatibility of certain software and databases with virtualization.
I put in a ticket with Oracle and the Support person said that Oracle does support Oracle non-RAC databases (10gR2, 10gR1, and 9.2 for SPARC and 10gR2 and 10gR1 for x86-64) with Solaris 10 non-global (local) Containers on the existing supported platforms for SPARC and x86-64.
They asked me to go to the forum to verify that - Oracle Database (with OAS) version 10.2 is compatable with x86 or Solaris 10 zones. Also, is Oracle Database with OAS a whole software package including the database? Does "OAS" automatically assume there is a database involved or are they seperate?

    Hi a brody,
from what I can get from the 'Key Features' on that website there is a Mac software for the device avaiable.
Nonetheless the culprit of Virtualization might be the usage of the USB-port.
Since I don't have that device it might be best to use the free VirtualBox http://www.virtualbox.org/ for a check.
