Soundcloud on firefox is unstable

When I use soundcloud on firefox it is very unstable. Initial page loading is absolutely horrible and when i start scrolling down to look at more songs it is just as bad.

Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
* You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
Thank you.

  • Newest Firefox always unstable, buggy, like a Beta release

I have been using Firefox for years, and generally like it above all else (currently running 11.0). However, I have had to disable the updates of any kind because ''every'' new release of Firefox is unstable. Maybe it works for an hour or a day, but it will crash or screw up in some fashion. I have chosen to always run an older version of Firefox because of this, and always turn off auto updates.
Cant you guys get a '''good, stable product '''before you release it? Same with the updates, they are almost always highly unstable, and if your unlucky enough to have auto update enabled, you can bring yourself some serious problems.
It would be really nice to have some Quality Control as far as your new releases are concerned. Buggy, crashy releases only serve to frustrate most of us. We would really like to trust you, but with each buggy release you undermine our faith in your ability to keep us up to date and, most importantly, Secure. We know you cant account for each and every systems unique set up, but you can do better than whats been happening for the last few years (yes, its been this way or as long as I can remember using Firefox).
How are we going to fix this? Those who like Beta versions can have them if they want them, but I believe most of us average users want a good, secure, stable release each and every time, which has never been the case with Firefox. There's got to be a better way.

Every change in Firefox is tested by hundreds (thousands?) of people, but even the largest beta testing program will miss things because of the unique interaction of systems, sites, and add-ons for hundreds of millions of Firefox users.
If you would like assistance with particular issues, this is a good site for that.
And of course, I would be remiss in failing to point out that Firefox 11 has some known and publicly disclosed security vulnerabilities, so it's worth making an effort to update if you can.
Finally, I'll note that there is a separate release schedule for business users that insist on a product with less frequent changes. Maybe you'd be interested in that? [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/ Firefox Extended Support Release FAQ]

  • Some add-ons icons vanished and firefox is unstable

some of my add-ons icions are vanished and i can`t use those add-ons. along with issue i want to tell that firefox in loading to hard and is unstable.

Delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry.
    See "Corrupt extension files": http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions
If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.

  • Fonts are messed, firefox is unstable

    FIG1 [[http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/13/firefoxbadfonts.jpg/|Firefox bad fonts]]
    FIG2 [[http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/24/firefoxgoodfonts.jpg/|IE good fonts]]
Firefox 5.0 has been running great for me ever since it was released, but...
For some reason, Firefox 5 suddenly started looking like FIG1. It should look more like FIG2 (internet explorer). When I start Firefox, it actually looks perfectly fine, but the moment I move my mouse over something or click on anything, FIG1 happens. The text is barely legible, and the program is very unstable. Sometimes I am able to click on websites, and sometimes it is frozen.
The only change I made to my system between Firefox working and not working, was installing a little LCD display on the front of my computer tower, which involved installing new drivers and software. I can't imagine how that could affect firefox though.

  • Firefox 34 unstable. Plugins blocked, Flash not working, cannot update Flash. Cannot update FLASH, as Adobe not offering update.

Repeated crashes with latest Firefox Version 34, running on Win XP SP3. Older Firefox version worked flawlessly. Update was a bad idea, as "security" fixes now block Flash from working. Attempt to update via Adobe cause further problems. Repeated crashes of internal program "plugin-container.exe". Poor product now, fails to provide the basic functionality - ie. viewing Flash video - that most web-brower users require. This solution was "solved" and worked fine, but stupid decisions appear to have been taken to block Flash, rather than fix the security vulnerabilites. Can't the leaky Adobe code just be "sandboxed" so code execution outside of a defined memory area is made impossible? About 1 billion global users rely on Flash, as most
video delivery websites use it. Just "blocking" the plugin is an arrogant goof's solution to the security problem.
But Adobe seems to have become obnoxious about not allowing or offering upgrades or fixes of Flash.
Recommended solution seems to be to download and install Dolphin browser, which is built to at least include Flash support internally.
    Question: <nowiki>**********</nowiki>
Is there a recommended way to get the Flash plugin installed and working correctly in a recent version of Firefox???
Step by step instructions should be provided.
    <nowiki>********************</nowiki>
It is almost 2015, and software development seems to be going retrograde, with "enhancements" simply crashing existing systems, and causing more problems than are solved. No wonder everyone is just disabling upgrades once they get a working
system. I deeply regret upgrading to Firefox Ver. 34, as it does not run Flash video correctly now.

    *** SOLVED *** !!!
I was having strange problems re. Youtube+Flash website.
Turned out to be some hard-coded ip-redirection in my "hosts" file.
I found it by searching and reading all the "youtube" related Mozilla FIrefox support forums. Thanx for this forum, guys. It is a good resource. And I apologize for my cranky, petulant initial comment. It was inappropriate. The error was mine completely.
Problem was an old hard-coded fix that I put into my HOSTS file, on my Windows XP, SP3 machine. Specifically, I had experienced hang issues with a site called "i.ytimg.com", which I believe is the static cache for Google/Youtube stuff. I tracked this error down to failures of security certificates, but confirmed my security cert store was isometric between my machine cluster (they were all the damn same!)
So, I had put two lines in the HOSTS file, to hard-code an IP address so that Google-youtube pages would not hang up waiting for "i.ytimg.com"
Well, of course, Google/Youtube is now using different locations, or akami servers or some damn thing...
The fix just involved removing these two hard-coded lines from my HOSTS file. I just commented the old fix out, and now everything works.
    <pre>
    # --- two lines added to fix i.ytimg.com hang problem
    # 74.125.162.39 static.cache.l.google.com s.ytimg.com
    # 74.125.162.39 static.cache.l.google.com i.ytimg.com
    </pre>
(The # symbol is used to make a comment in hosts file... )
On Windows XP, XP3, the "hosts" file is typically located in:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
If you are having goofy problems with some youtube/google webpages
not rendering, or generating SSL (bad_certificate) errors, check your
"hosts" file, and ensure no ip redirection has been slotted in there
    from a while back.
    Hope this helps others...

  • Firefox randomly starts eating tons of CPU causing lagging and freezing

    Firefox V.35 on Windows 7 64 bit
Ok, idk what has gotten into Firefox the last few updates, but it has become incredibly SLOW and laggy. It does NOT matter how many times I clear cache, it has no effect on this. I can be browsing any page.. and at random I will notice the scrolling start freezing every 1 second or so and it gets SLOW and choppy. Typing during this time is just as bad and lags a LOT. I will open Task Manager and notice firefox.exe using 30-70% CPU. CPU usage will keep jumping UP and DOWN .. back and forth. This will keep happening for almost a minute or more. It will stop for awhile then pick up shortly after repeating the same thing over again making browsing horribly slow. It doesn't matter what page I'm on, it still will do this. It doesn't matter if I close tabs, that doesn't help. (yes I have disabled ALL plugins and addons to see if it would help and it does not).
I thought Adobe Flash was the problem, but I was wrong as I had disabled the Flash plugin to see if it would do anything. On another note, Flash also runs SLOW and choppy compared to other web browsers running the same thing, namely ... facebook games. The FPS is ...well.. CHOPPY. I disabled plugin_container.exe and that just made it worse and firefox more unstable.
Anyways, this machine is a laptop and has 4GB of RAM. Everything else on it runs nice and fast, even other web browsers...... except firefox. What's going on with this browser lately? Whatever they did in the last few updates really screwed it up. I since went to using Opera because of how bad it was.

Could you run Firefox in its '''Safe Mode''' for a while as a test? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox that can be troublesome on some systems. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Notice any difference over time?
Also, you might want to supplement your regular security software with some of the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

I ran in safe mode, problem went away mostly. Restarted FF normally and it still seems ok. If it's one of the Add-ons.. idk which one it is because it isn't acting up right now. The Add-ons that I have are , Adblock Plus, Dark Backgrounds Switcher, Easier Youtube Video Downloader, Keyconfig , RightToClick, User Agent Overrider.
The last 3 I usually keep disabled.

  • Keep getting "A Security or Stability update for Firefox is available. . .apply ASAP" notice to download but can't confirm if it really is from Firefox.

Every time I restart Firefox a pop up appears saying the same thing "A Security or Stability for Firefox it is recommended you apply is as soon as possible" It has done this since the last big release.
    [http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv74/SantaFeHRA/darrons%20website%20albums/firefoxupdatescreenshot.jpg screenshot] SCREENSHOT HERE
The problem is it is suspicious in that it has a link that says "View more information on this update" but when II click it it just leads to the general Firefox help page which mentions nothing of any updates an when I look around no one seems to be discussing them. I mean it were windows not only would we be used to them but we wouldn't get a choice to download it or not but with Firefox an so often it seems people would be discussing them. Then, the other weird thing is awhile back when I did just blindl click and install it left Firefox very unstable and so I thought it may be a virus type thing rather than a true update. Still can't find any word one way or another of its legitimacy and because it is a pop up I can't use the "View This Page's Source" feature in Firefox. Anybody know if I can install these or not?

  • Black window bugs and lockups and crashes and WHAT'S WRONG?

First, I thought the problem was that my employer still uses Windows XP, with layers of custom security on top. But it happens at home, on my vanilla XP netbook.
So then I thought the problem was XP, which is, after all, obsolete. But now it is happening on my brand-new week-old laptop running 64 bit Windows 7 professional.
    These are the problems:
    (1) When recovering from sleep mode, or when I plug in a second screen, or even just from having the screen closed briefly, Firefox fails to redraw its window contents. I just get a black, empty window until I resize it or force a refresh. NO OTHER PROGRAM I USE HAS THIS PROBLEM.
    (2) Sometime Firefox fails to redraw no matter what I do. I just had a totally black window, and when I clicked on the close box, a msgbox popped up, totally black inside, with a title like, "Are you sure you want to close?" I couldn't even see the "yes" and "No" buttons, and clicking where they usually are didn't work. I finally got it to close by hitting the enter key.
    (3) Sometimes these problems are accompanied by a little vestigial micro-window, which has no contents, no close button, and no resize control. It's this nothing window with no title, but the title bar is long enough for maybe 20 characters. The most recent time this happened to me, the nothing window had a blinking text cursor inside, but typing had no effect. The only way to get rid of the micro-window is to close every single instance of Firefox, and then wait about 20 seconds. Then it disappears on its own. Sometimes it appears on its own without the black screen problem.
    (4) All my favicons disappeared when I updated Firefox on my XP work computer, and they refuse to come back, even when I revisit the websites.
    The computers involved are:
Dell E4200 running Win XP Pro
Acer One netbook running Win XP Home
Vostro 3350 running Win 7 Pro
All 3 computers are running Norton Security Suite (The E4200 is running an Enterprise custom load, the other two are running Comcast's free version)
And all 3 computers have been connected to a Displaylink USB video adapter (for a 3rd screen) at some point or another, meaning that the driver is loaded on all the computers, but the above problems occur without any external monitor at all connected.
    Everything else is pretty vanilla.
I'm getting these issues every other day or so, and it is really starting to annoy me and make me worried that Firefox is unstable, with makes me worried that any unsaved work or even my hard drive data might be at risk.

    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

Nick, sorry to hear about that. I'm not sure where you are sending the emails, but if you use the form to submit your crash information, that goes into a database for review by the developers instead of coming to the support volunteers here.
Did you try the History > Restore Previous Session command? Firefox sometimes saves form data in the session history. This data may age out, so you should use that menu item as soon as possible.
Going forward, consider installing the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lazarus-form-recovery/ Lazarus: Form Recovery] extension if you are filling long forms and Firefox is unstable.
With respect to the crashes, there are many possible reasons for Firefox to crash. Have you reviewed the help articles for diagnosis? For example: [[Firefox crashes - Troubleshoot, prevent and get help fixing crashes]].

  • Norton toolbar not compatible with aurora 26.0a2

    I have two questions:
First is there a specific support area for Aurora users?
Second I am seeking info on making my Norton toolbar work in Aurora 26.0a2. When I checked them in the add ons it says that they aren't compatible for both the toolbar which is version 2015.5.1.4 and for the vulnerability protection version 12.0.0.380. Are there any patches out there for it? I am using Aurora vs. Firefox because the flash game I play using firefox is unstable and keeps freezing even though I've followed the proper steps provided. Aurora is 100% more stable than FF for some reason.
I am on Windows 7 laptop w/4GB RAM and have Norton 360.

hello alisak2000, norton makes its toolbar only compatible with firefox release versions - so it won't work with beta, aurora or nightly.

Is this a hardware issue or maybe a flash issue? Because I did a fresh install of Arch about a month ago hoping to fix the issue and it hasn't solved the problem.
I'm not sure if it's caused by using youtube or soundcloud, but I think it's crashed a few times when I'm not using either of them.
