Soundpaper App v1.3.1 - All files disappeared

I was using soundpaper to record lectures at school. It allows you to record the audio and type your notes. Today I went to class and all my files have disappeared. I had just purchased a my iPad 3G a couple of weeks ago.
Bummed.

The problem was user error:
I had done a back-up on my iPad, and during the course of that I removed a large number of apps, those apps I did not want on my iPad, and proceeded to perform this task by removing them ALL. I then returned the ones I wanted, including soundpaper. That removed all data.
The tech support gentleman had me download 'iphone backup extractor.' I then followed the simple instructions to extract and file the data I had lost.
Lesson learned.

Time capsule files disappear

I use time capsule 1TG and copied some files onto it like using external hard disk. Everything was fine at the beginning, but one day all files disappeared, can't see any files name on tc.
The files are not really gone, they are still on my tc because I used spotlight to search file names and the file showed up again. But after reboot MBP, all files on TC disappear again, but I am sure the data are still there, just can't see file names.
Anyone has clues about this? Many thanks in advance for help!

Buggy TC. You just need to restart it.

All of my PDF files disappeared from iBooks on my iPad. Where and why did they suddenly disappear? How can I retrieve them?

As far as I can work out, from incomplete downloads, ticks denote all downloaded ok.
The manually manage option is for those who want to tailor their library collections in Music and Video to specific items. If you have this ticked, then it will sync with the sync selections in your devices pages (eg, Music, videos).
If you want to sync all of your collection 'all' the time, leave manually manage off and put the a tick in the devices' page to sync all items Dependent on iCloud use, and or automatic download options in iTunes, new purchased items are added and synced automatically as they are added - this only applies to Store purchased items.
If you are going to added content outside of the Store, then Manually Manage is the option to take for Music and Videos - it does not affect anything else. IE Apps or podcasts, etc.
If you have manually manage off, and 'selected playlist' option ticked, then it will sync existing ticked items, but new items downloaded will require you tick them (a) after the next iTunes automatic download when it connects to the store and downloads any items, or (b) you download to a device and then sync the device, in which case it transfers the new download to your library - but, as happened to you, deletes it from your idevice.
Retcicking and resyncing will add the item back on next sync.
Don't forget that whenever making any kind of manual change to hit Apply and resync, to stop changes being lost.
However, and i cannot stress this enough, iTunes is very problematic, especially when handling large collections. Its sync operations can be erratic or non-functional at times (even buggy perhaps)
If all options fail, then go to your program installation control folder (Control panel\Programs etc on windows) and select to repair iTunes.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you mean you deleted the files from Pages on your phone whilst using iCloud, then yes they will disappear from Pages on your iPad too.
If you simply deleted the app from your phone, if you were using iCloud then they should not have disappeared from your iPad.
It's not clear from your post, which of these you did.

Help! All my desktop files disappeared.

I need help as quickly as possible.
This morning I turned on my MacBook Pro and all my files on desktop have disappeared.
I have tried relaunching Finder, going to Desktop folder through Finder and even searched it.
And found nothing.
My files have completely disappeared from both desktop and my hard disc (or at least I am unable to find it).

I have the same issue! I had Remote Login checked on and worried that when i went to a hotel, someone swiped our files.

App-v packages not getting distributed with all files to DP's

I am migrating appv 4.6 packages from standalone to sccm 2012 , using application model in sccm,
all seems to be fine , but sccm is not distributing the folders,vbscripts, etc except osd,xml,sft,sprj.. to DP
what is the issue any resolution for this.
app has lot of dependency on vbscripts to run.

That's most likely fine because ConfigMgr stores the content in the contentlib. Also see that all files have the .INI extension. You can use Content Library Explorer (part of the R2 toolkit) to examine the package.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone. I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups. I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either. Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

Does Time Machine really restore all files of app?

I have done a clean install, then i don't want use migration assistant to move back things, but when i move back garageband 6.0.5, i open it, then i realise that only app is been restore but all the loops and audio is not, then i search online found that i have to move those things by my own,
So this problem make me wondering does time machine really fully restore?
I also wondering how about other apps or files do they really all been restore even they SEEN like no problems?

If you want everything restored from Time Machine, don't use Migration Assistant but use Setup Assistant - migrate al files when you are first prompted to restore from Time Machine or another Mac, after a clean install.
you can select what to restore - the settings, the libraries, the user data.
Since you do not want to use the assistants - to restore Garageband 6.0.5 manually, you transfer all files and folders in the system library:
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/
and the loops from
/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/
Your plug-ins from
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/
and the corresponding folders in your user library ~/Library/

Lion dropped application support for PowerPC. An OS may drop or change what to use to open a file, not the file.
Of course CCC is what many have used for 10 yrs now and it is or will be $20 like SuperDuper - commercial.
Always use something like those in addition to or instead of TimeMachine.

ALL Finder Files Disappeared • Blinking Menu Bar • No Access to iDisk

There have been a chain of events within the last week that makes me so mad with Apple. In March 2008, I had spent £2,000 on the top of the line MacBook Pro (one of many machines I own, all mac).
1. Six days ago, ALL files and folders disappeared from the Desktop without trace.
2. Two days ago, the right hand side of the Menu Bar started blinking on & off.
3. Two days ago, I have not had access to my iDisk.
1. No other reports to offer. I looked around for the files but they were nowhere to be seen.
2. Mac user since 1991. I own various machines but this particular problem lies with a MacBook Pro 2008 using 10.5.4
The laptop has two users. One is fine while one is not. A new user was created but upon logging in for the first time the right hand side of the menu bar blinked off and on just like the existing user. No hard drives have been connected. All files backed up via drag and drop wirelessly.
3. Since this development I have been unable to get to my iDisk; it might be related or coincidental with problem number 2. Last night I re-entered my .mac/MobileMe account details whereupon I was presented with a message saying the machine had not synced before. Not true. It had been syncing automatically since the day of purchase March 2008. I wonder if there is a connection between somewhere deep down in the Library, updated versions for 10.5.4 and MobileMe. Somewhere along the line a combination of events triggered the tool bar to start blinking...
It's strange how one user is fine (seldom used and DOES NOT have a MobileMe account) while the main one, me, is not fine (used heavily throughout the day and DOES have an active MobileMe account).
At this point, I don't intend to re-install and start all over again (I've done this so many times with other machines over the years that I was hoping those days had finally gone based upon Apple's brilliant recent advancements).
I don't care nor wish to hear about backing al files up with Time Machine (I back up regularly), I would like to get to the point of understanding why any or all of the aforementioned problems happened in the first place so it doesn't happen again.

Try starting in "Safe Mode" (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
Now test. If that works go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.

Associating custom app with all files of certain extension

I have an applescript which I saved as an application. I want all files with the .url extension to be opened with this app.
If I drag+drop a .url file onto the app's icon, it opens with the app. I can also associate a single file with this app using Finder->Get Info and with RCDefaultApp. However, when I try to associate all .url files with this app, the old app immediately gets reselected. This happens both in Finder and RCDefaultApp.
How can I get the association to work for all .url files?

Perhaps I didn't explain correctly. I go to a .url file and Get Info. Under Open With I browse to my new application (with Always Open With checked) and click ok. Now the info window says Open with: my new app. If I stop here, then this single file will be associated with my app. However, I then click Change All and Continue and now the info window says Open with: Safari. This is the part I meant when I said that it immediately changes back when I try to change all.
Alternately, using RCDefaultApp: I open RCDefaultApp, click on the Extensions tab, and select url. Default Application is Safari. If I change it to Firefox, it stays on Firefox. As opposed to if I select the app I made. If I do this, it flickers as if my app was selected for a moment then the selection reverts to what it was before I selected my app.

General problem: Uninstalling Apps, all files

I don't remember right now, of all the stuff I have installed on my Macs, exactly how Apps behave.
First of all, I suspect that some Apps comes with a uninstall facility, maybe in the Installer?
[ One thing I will find a thread for is how I uninstall the Developer stuff folder (all files!) ]
Secondly, I know that Apps nowadays can be uninstalled by dragging the App from the Application folder to the trash, and emptying it.
But Apps in Mac App Store, are they designed so that they do not have to be uninstalled more carefully?
I think of stuff that fills the Library folders, and also other places in the machine, like iPhoto Libraries, that can be moved, swithched between and so forth.

You're right - some apps (notably newer Adobe apps) come with an uninstaller. Some major developers, such as Microsoft for Office, don't offer an easy way to uninstall. Some (if not most) Apple apps can be uninstalled simply by dragging the app to the Trash. MOST apps seem to have neither an uninstaller nor are completely removed when trashing.
So what do you do in the latter case? First, get in touch with the developer and ask if there is some method to get rid off the app and its auxiliary files. You can - although you must be careful and realize that all auxiliary files may not be found - use something such as AppCleaner or AppZapper to try to get rid of all of the files. I only recommend these apps for experienced users (and others will, vociferously, disagree with me!).

This is sometimes caused by Bad Blocks on the Hard Drive.
If 10.7, hold down Command-R at startup, and choose Disk Utility.
If 10.6 or earlier, boot to the Installer/Utilities DVD, answer only the "what language" question and wait for the MenuBar to be drawn. Choose Disk Utility from the Utilities Menu.
Select your Hard drive by Make & Model and check the SMART Status (lower right of the right window). Choose "Repair Disk" . This ONLY examines and repairs the Directory area of the drive, but may improve things a bit. If errors cannot be repaired, you may need a stronger tool, or a new drive.
