Sounds and alerts while making a call

Hello all,
I use my iPhone 4 for business and pleasure, and have increasingly been using it more and more for business. However, when I am talking on the phone, I receive alerts and notifications for anything and everything (mostly texts and reminders). The sounds come through the earpiece and even seem to temporarily override the phone call, meaning that sometimes I temporarily don't hear who is speaking to me because I get a text. It is very distracting and annoying, and sometimes loud (depending on my current sound setting). I think if I have it on vibrate, it just vibrates, but having the vibrate sound in my ear is just as distracting. Any way to make my phone not interrupt my calls with other things? Thanks!!

You could turn on the do not disturb setting. That usually works for me.

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.

My iphone 4S has problem in making and receiving the calls. While making the call , call fails and netwrok disappears. Like wise no voice is heard for incoming calls. This happened after return from the overseas travel.

check and make sure that an alert style has been choosen for certain alerts, and make sure you check your sounds in settings

Problem with audio while making a call

I have a model 9810,
I can hear no audio while making a call at all, however, while making the call if I press the speaker tab I can hear (as like a hands free made)
I do not use a head set or in car kit, I just use it as a handset.
All other audio is OK, I can hear the alerts as a call or text comes in, but as soon as I answer the call and place it near my ear I hear nothing

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

Issue while making a call through Nokia lumia 510

Hi, i have purchased nokia lumia 510 around five months back. since then this phone is troubling me in a way or other. earlier there were issues with internet connectivity when i rectified it now there comes a new problem which occurs while making a call. whenever i make a call or receive a call after a few minutes i am unable to get the voice of the person on another side nor the other persons gets my voice. sometimes this happens just after 30-40 seconds and sometimes it happens after 15-16 minutes. then i have to cut the call in between and again have to call that person. this issue comes everytime i make or receive a call. i am so much irritated of this now. i even went to nokia care and they have replaced the speaker of the phone but this issue has not been resolved. can someone please help me to resolve this. please i need a permanent solution of this now.

The iPhone is designed to have the screen go dark during a phone call, since the phone is normally up to your ear and you would not want to be touching the screen with your ear and possibly touching random buttons. This is done by the proximity sensor, which is located near the ear speaker on the phone. When you are reaching to turn on the speaker, it is possible that you are crossing this sensor light and it turns off the screen. I have done this before. If you try reaching from the bottom of the screen, does this still happen? Try to keep your hand away from the top front portion of the phone and see if that helps.

Problem Managing Sounds and Alerts - Blackberry Z10

I just bought a Z10, love the phone, but I have the following issue when managing sounds and alerts:
In previous phones, I was able to configure sounds for txt messages and e-mails separately, but the Z10 has included them in the same cathegory when it comes managing sounds (You can't turn off sounds just email, it applies to both email and txt). Like many people, I don't want the phone to make any sound when I receive an email; however, txts have a different priority and I prefer to have the phone to make a noise when a txt message comes in.
Does anybody know a way around this?

Did you scroll down when your in the Notification Menu?
You should be able to see in the Notification/Alert section

Settings>Notifications>FaceTime/Message>Alert Style

Lumia 520 red light while making/receiving calls

I noticed there is a small red light blinking on top of screen just near the speaker, where you hear the voice while calling. This happens while making/receiving call, a small red light blinks/stays on near speaker.
Sometimes the light goes off when i press the lock button while making calls.

Welcome to the forum!
What you're seeing is the proximity sensor of the device. This will activate once you receive or make a call. The main purpose of the proximity sensor is to disable the screen whenever you put the phone near your ear. This is to prevent you from accidentally disconnecting the call. This also works just by covering the sensor using your hand or any object. This feature is available to all other Nokia touch screen devices. Hope this helps. MMS is a carrier issue... contact Verizon and ensure your account is provisioned correctly. I would think that someone would be intelligent enough to do that before buying a new device, but......
iMessage could be an activation issue or a network issue.
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
Does iMessage work consistently on Wi-Fi?

Why is my backlight display lit for only 5 seconds while making a call (Brightside phone)

When I go to settings, I see that it is set for 2 minutes and indeed it does stay lit for that amount of time if I am not making a call, but as soon as I dial a phone number and especially when I get into an automated menu system where I need to press 1 to get to a different menu and then other numbers to finally get to talk to someone, the display goes black. I have tried swiping the screen which does not help. The only thing that I can do is press the curly arrow that points to the left to have the display light come back on for another 4 seconds, then press the button called keypad and hurry and press a number to continue with the menu system.
I talked with Verizon and was told can do a complete reset, but I don't want to lose my contacts. I went to backup assistant online but keep getting the arrows that go around and around forever and won't let me see if they are backed up. I want to view my contacts online and I want to print them. What's wrong with that site?
I will say this. Do not buy the Brightside phone. It is not a smart phone. It's a touch phone and when you touch anything, things come on like the camera or makes calls to my favorite contacts. sheesh! I can't wait until our contract with Verizon is over with.

I just bought the phone yesterday and have noticed the same issue. The verizon guy i just spoke to said that needed to be fixed, so he transferred me to Samsung tech support. I'm waiting for them to pick up . . .
Okay, spoke to a very nice person who concluded that this was not an option that could be adjusted. The light apparently stays on for about 6 secs.
I was hoping it could be changed, so that's disappointing, but the reason it goes dark makes a lot of sense: it keeps you from hitting buttons accidentally while you're on the phone, so you can hold the phone in your hand, to your ear, etc. without worrying about activating something unintentionally. Also saves battery.

Brand new iPhone 5s earpiece volume very low while making/receiving calls

I bought an iPhone 5s yesterday, set it up and updated it to iOS 7.0.3 and much to my dismay I tried to make a call and the earpiece volume is extremely low. Is there a simple fix for this or some sort of explanation or should I book an appointment at the apple store and ask for a replacement. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

But with a switch, you have to remember to flip it both before AND after every incoming or outgoing phone call. If you forget one or the other you either still have to endure the notification(s) interrupting your phone call or you get NO notifications because you forgot to flip the silly switch. A setting that disables ANY audio notification when you are on a call would have been MUCH more user friendly. And, yes, I did already contact Apple about this.

Since iOS 8, Siri hangs up while making a call through bluetooth in car

Since we got ios 8 on my 6plus, and my kid's 5s, we can use Siri to request directions and such through my 2008 Toyota Prius' bluetooth, but if we ask Siri to make a call, she says she'll do it, she begins to do it, and then hangs up the call immediately.
Anyone know of any workaround or fix? Is this some kind of ios8 bug?
Maps will give directions over the bluetooth, whether it's Apple Maps (once I changed the setting) or Google Maps.
I can make phone calls, receive phone calls, dial from the car's dashboard, or dial from the phone. I can also redial from the car dashboard, leading me to think it's the hands free profile (not headset profile) that is in use.
I don't think my car has the A2DP profile for streaming audio (for example from iTunes). but that shouldn't matter.
I did try asking Siri to make a call on a bluetooth wireless speaker (has A2DP ) that also supports phone calls and that worked. .
I can't figure it out - Siri , "call my brother" >> Calling John >> Hangup!
Worked on my old 5 and my kid's 5s until recently. Help!
