Sounds interrupting  i-Tunes?   Black Boxes, shadows or highlights

I am trying to listen to i-tunes but the annoying beeps and weird sounds keep interrupting my music or podcasts. How do I turn this off without turning off all of my sound?
I also have an issue with black boxes showing up on my screen. It seems like it is a shadow of a box that was open before, different window or a black box around highlighted objects. I hope that makes sense but how do I quit that from happening????? Its annoying.
Thanks for any help with this.

  • M-Audio Black Box Interface.  Acoustic guitar. No sound on monitor or on playback.  Tried every setting known to man, except the one that must work.  I appear to be recording - green lines in upper left.  Can hear it on headphones plugged into M-Audio.  ?

M-Audio Black Box with Acoustic/electric guitar plugged in.  No sound on monitor or playback in GB.  Have tried every setting I can imagine.  Seems to recording because I have green bars in the upper left and can hear it on headphone into the M-Audio.  Record volume in GB not active - but I'm guessing the M-Audio cancels that.  Any ideas?  Help wanted.  Thanks.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • HD Films & 5.1 Surround Sound on new Black Box Sof...

A few months back I ''upgraded'' to a Vision Black Box with the new look software. Since then I have noticed that I havent been able to find any HD films with 5.1 surround sound listed as a feature via the film's info button, and not any I have chosen have fired upthat feature.
Question is ''has 5.1 Surround Sound been withdrawn on this ''box offering?''

However, what I find quite a surprise is my New Look Software & Black Box was a move from an old Silver Box, and other key features are now missing also ................. speechless !!!!

  • Help! I can't get rid of this little black box!

I ordered DSL service and tried to hook it up the other day, unsuccessfully. In the instructions it says that if you have problems to insert the disk provided. I told the lady I ordered from that I had a Mac and she said it would be no problem, but of course no where does it say that this disk is not usable on a Mac.
You get where this is going I'm sure, I put it in and followed what it said, including restarting the iMac as instructed. After the restart it will do the "bong" sound and I get the initial white screen with the grey apple, but I never get the little grey lines in a wheel shape. After a couple of minutes I get a litte black box about 2" wide and 1/4" tall across the top of the apple with little colored lines in it, and nothing else happens or works. I can't even get the disk drive to open or close without holding the button on the back, turning it off, and then holding the open button while I turn it back on with the button.
I have restarted using the hardware repair disk, all is fine. I restarted using Disk Warrier, all repaired, but still not working. I restarted using the 10.2 install disk and verified and repaired the disk and permissions, several were repaired, but still the black box. I tried holding the shift key at restart and still the box, and also tried holding the control and "s" key with no luck.
Of course AT&T knows nothing about the Mac and after talking for 1.5 hours to 5 different people and having a tech guy come and not know anything to help they tell me I have to call Apple to pay for help. I am so frustrated!!! Is there anyone out there with suggestions before I call and pay?
    Many thanks,
    Cassie

    Hi Cassie:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I have not used OS X 10.2.x for a long time, but I think you should consider and archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
An A&I will install a fresh OS X - hopefully eliminating whatever happened with the AT&T disk. You would, of course, have to update OS X to current levels for 10.2.
    Barry
P.S. It also occurred to me that AT&T does not support OS X 10.2 - you might ask them that question.

  • Strange... Black boxes around buttons and files

Anyone seen this issue or know how to fix it?
Sometime last week, black boxes started appearaing around files or folders on my desktop, buttons in the finder, and file names in open windows. It is always one box at a time (whatever I select or mouse over.)
The box is 2-3 pixels thick and has a white stroke around it. It's not effecting performance, but it is really anoying.
    Thanks in advance!

Ugh, sounds like your video card may be going.
If you create a new, clean & fresh account and log in, do you get the same thing?

  • Black boxes w/numbers inside on scanned docs

We are using Adobe Acrobat Standard version 7. When we open scanned documents that were created using Acrobat 5, black boxes with numbers in them appear on the page. Sometimes they appear next to the actual fields that were filled in (i.e. name, date, etc.) but sometimes the boxes and numbers randomly appear on the right-hand side of the page. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It simply sounds like the settings you have set in the scanner software is different.
when I scan 20 pages of B/W text I get around 16 MB. With a PC it's around 400 kb.
    That's not right.
    A single 8.5 x 11 page @ 300 dpi is gonna be ~1.2 MB.
To get 50 pages to be only 400kb, they are being compressed.
You are scanning as a jpeg on the PC and as a bitmap on the Mac.

  • HT201412 there is a black box on my screen

There is a black box around all my apps/when I turn on the phone and my touch screen isn't working - I can't move off the initial screen and the only thing I can get to work is Siri - I have tried turning it off and on (which is difficult since the touch screen won't allow me to slide power off) but it still doesn't work.  I haven't been able to sync to itunes or icloud to reset either -
    Help

    Hi,
This sounds like a setting needs changing in the Finder's View menu. Choose View>Show View Options or hit Command-J. Uncheck Show Item Info in the resulting dialogue.

  • After we installed a new airport extreme, the imac running snow leopard displays black box msgs saying to hold down the power button and or the reset button and then restart your computer. Can anyone provide info that can help resolve this issue?

Experiencing similar issues on both imac and power book: after replacing an original airport extreme with a new airport extreme both computers display a black box msgs that reads: "...turn off your computer by holding down the power button and or the reset button for a few seconds and then restart your computer."...
one of the printers are usb'd to the imac. The printer is not "seeing" the imac nor will it print wireless from the powerbook which was the norm prior to the upgrade on the airport extreme.
Upon restart, the imac does not "see" the wireless keyboard or the mouse until it is "found" again.
At this time the imac or the powerbook can get on line.

It sounds like your computer is getting Kernel Panics. Please look at About "You need to restart your computer" (kernel panic) messages and if the message seen on your display is like the one in the link then you have confirmed you had a KP. KP's can be tough to track down because they can be caused by software or hardware. The first place to start is to post the complete crash log so we can look at it, often there are clues in the log. You can find it at:

  • Do you need a sim card for the iPad 3G and when I try to download something from the app store my screen has a black box appear is that normal and why is this happening?

My app store does not let me download things , when I sghn in a black box appers , also does a iPad 1 3G need a sim card to download apps ?

You posted in the iPod Shuffle forum; it might be best to post in the iPad forum, as I was a bit confused at first. Anyway,
It doesn't need a SIM to download apps if you have Wi-Fi. Can you describe this box a little more, or better yet, screenshot it?
    Taking a Screenshot:
Quickly press then release the home and power buttons at the same time.
Get the photo on your computer and upload it here.
If you don't want to do this, can you describe it a little more? When you say "black box," I'm guessing it's an outlined box that appears around any item that you tap on. Is this correct? If so, it sounds like VoiceOver was enabled. See:

  • This black box is making noise--what is it? (pictures)

I know there have been several threads regarding the white noise given off by Motherboards under heavy load.  I also have a K7N2G-ILSR and it has made the noise since day one.  Like others, I have tracked the noise to the little black box just above the mosfets near the CPU.
When I press on it, the pitch of the noise varies.  Ideally, I would like to strip the tape from around the box and hot-glue the entire thing, but I want to make sure it won't hose everything. I don't care about the warranty, but if I can't make the sound stop, I'm liable to kill someone.
I would like to know what the black box does and if anyone has any luck silencing the sound!
    Thanks!

In this case it stores energy and timely releases it, In MSI's words, this is normal, as the environment is high frequency.
To elaborate further on what I said before, what's likely happening is some of the components or that choke may be at the bottom or top of the allowable tolerance for manufacture. All electronics are not EXACTLY the same as far as components go. This is what's referred to as "parametric differences." You have the PCB, (printed circuitboard) CPU, RAM, peripherals, power supply, and, add to that, all the components that populate a PCB. A PCB is used on your VGA card, RAM, power supply, and ALL of your peripherals. All of these parts are manufactured with allowable tolerances, same goes for the PCB. Get the idea? See how this becomes an environment where things can easily get out of hand? Couple that with the fact of how many possible configurations can take place, and also that many of the componets and parts are manufactured by many different vendors.
Take a circuit board for example, you have multiple layers, dielectric in between those layers, the foil or copper layers in the internals are a set weight or thickness but the outer layers are usually plated up and/or etched down (this can include the internals). The etch process is done with acid, and you get a minute bit of what's called "etch down" where if you were to look at a cross section of a routed trace, you would notice that there is a slight "V" shape since the acid will etch around the sides. The board vendor must compensate for the etch down by enlarging the original artwork. However, it will NEVER be exact every time. The general specs for most of the boards we produce are +/- 20% of the original artwork supplied in the design data. That is, if you have an .008 thousandths trace, we can be within .0016 of the original.
Granted some tolerances are tighter when manufacturing high speed and impedance controlled designs, but you get the idea.
Now, you have basically the same scenario when it comes to components as mentioned previously. That is why you see users reporting strange behavior, mind you, it's a small percentage, but it is generally exacerbated when multiple parts, components, and peripherals operate in a high speed, high frequency environment like today's performance PC's. It only takes a few things to be at the top or the bottom of a tolerance to create this anomaly, or another issue altogether.
This is what I know personally through my experience as a PCB designer and manufacturer, and then being in the electronics and IT industry, and of course, an enthusiast

  • Black box around window screenshots?

    Hi guys,
I'm using 10.6.2 SL and whenever I take a screenshot of a window with Shift Apple 4 Space, I get this ugly black box around the window.
    Here is an example.
Before, the screenshot would have a nice shadow. It used to look like this.
Was this intentional? Or is this a glitch?
    Thanks
    Sohrob

That behavior's abnormal. Start with a search for *screenshot black border* and peruse the hits. If no luck, create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem persists.

  • Can Someone Open the Black Box

    01. I think I understand RSL usage for the Flex framework and
I think I like the fact that its implementation, for all practical
purposes, remains a Black Box. I can't see inside, but don't need
to since it just works as described in the many Googleable postings
    available.
    02. Now, however, we migrate to AIR and I challenge you to
find a solid description of the expected behavior in the AIR
environment. [Yes, there is one jira entry, in which some
developer, acknowledging an error in the air-config file adds the
cryptic comment -- "We don't expect most AIR apps to use these
    RSLs.".
    03. Now someone needs to open that black box so we can
determine how to properly take advantage of the client-side cache
for AIR applications. For that matter, it would be nice to see
concise information concerning the use of Modules in AIR
applications, but I will be so happy if I can just get the
    framework modules to work properly.
    04. Here is observed behavior from outside the Black Box.
    A. Write/test/deploy a Flex Application compiled for use of
dynamic framework RSLs. Put the framework.swz file where the
webserver needs it to be -- and add the framework.swc version just
    for the heck of it.
    B. It works beautifully, and you can go look in the
client-side cache to see that the files were downloaded when
    required -- just as advertized.
    C. Write/test/deploy an AIR Application that uses SWFLoader
to launch on-demand exactly the same Application.swf file that was
    run above.
    D. It is much harder to trace, but the fact that the Module
runs correctly inside AIR is proof that AIR knew how to check the
client-side cache to resolve the links to the framework code, just
perfectly. But, if you are a doubting Tomas, rerun this AIR test
after you delete the framework.swz file from the the client-side
cache and wait for your #2032 error -- it will pop up pretty
    quickly.
So, other than by asking the client to run a Flex application
in order to force-download the required framework, what is the
design pattern, best-practice or other direction concerning the
correct way for a pure AIR application to take advantage of
client-side caching of the ever-expanding framework
    codebase?

    Hello Maureen1842,
It sounds like you are able to see the Slide to Unlock screen but there is an outline around Slide to Unlock and it will not slide. From what you describe I'm thinking that Voice Over is enabled on the phone. Try doubletapping Slide to Unlock, that should get you to your home screen. Then go to your settings and disable Voice Over.
Turn VoiceOver on or off. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver

  • Flash will not play on Youtube only (black box)

Installed "ClicktoFlash" (program that disables flash on a page until you allow it) the other night and after having an issue getting videos to play on YouTube I disabled and uninstalled it using the built in uninstaller. Now I cannot get any YouTube videos to play no matter which browser I use- and I've tried them all. All I get is a black box. Strangely enough the flash (assuming) advertisement at the top of the page plays. Also plays fine on other websites.
Tried uninstall and reinstall Flash, selecting 32 bit mode, doing all the requisite updates and every other trick in the book. Turned on HTML5 and that gets some videos to work but not all so definitely not a solution.
I have to think that it is ClicktoFlash that caused this mayhem. The timing is too perfect to be anything else. I've searched for left over components but don't see anything obvious.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Tim
if it was a Click to flash extension - just remove it or turn extensions off in Safari-Preferences
    if the 'plugin type' -
check there's no ClickToFlash.webplugin file in Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins (the usual install location) or HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
Restart any browsers & no more click to flash.
Assuming it's gone (which very likely it already has, since yours sounds like the common recent youtube problem... you restarted Safari after the 32 bit change ?
tried a different user agent ? (Safari-Develop-user Agent)
