Sounds like someone is pushing buttons while talking

IPhone 5 - it seems to be getting worse.  I always thought it was my mom pushing buttons on her phone while we were talking.  But last night we were talking via Bluetooth.  No one was holding a phone.  It seems to happen when a woman is speaking.  I'm wondering if it has something to do with a tone in the voice that triggers a "tone" sound.  Like someone is pushing numbers on the phone.  It's highly annoying and the other person can hear it.  What causes this and how can it be stopped?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Well, the phone should turn the screen off when you hold it against your ear. Does the sensors work as they should in other apps? You could try running Diagnostics under Settings > About phone.

  • "Sounds" like someone is taking a snapshot of g5 without my permission

    Hi There,
I'm concerned I'm being hacked because from time to time I hear the sound of a camera lens shutter.
Is there a way of detecting if there has been activity?
Any advice or help will be much appreciated.
    Kindest regards
    Rob Slaney

Sorry, Console is in Applications>Utilities, run that and watch the System & Console Logs around the time of the click.
But if you don't have an iSight or Camera hooked up, then the Sound is likely a Hard drive going bad, or a Fan, or...
If you wish to check further on the Hacking possibility, (doesn't sound like it to me, but), might look into this...

  • How can I get the screen to lock on my iPhone 4, so I don't press buttons while talking?

I just upgraded to the iPhone 4.  When I am talking on the phone, the screen doesn't lock, so I am constantly pressing buttons or hanging up on the person I'm talking to.  How can I get the screen to lock while I'm talking?  It's driving me NUTS.

The otterbox is one of the culprits. Take the phone out of the case and see if it still happens. If so it is not the case. If the problem goes away, then you may need to make the hole slightly larger. My family has three iPhone 4's in otterboxes and none have this problem. Other users on this forum have reported success with the above methods.

  • Face pushing buttons while on calls

Since I updated my iphone5 to the ios7 my face keeps activating FaceTime, mute etc while on a call...help please?!? Never had this problem before.

Thanks. And it was because of the forum here that we were able to take care of it. When a number of people reported being unable to end a call because the screen would not react to the touch of the end button, someone reported Lifeproof acknowledged the problem. I got him to call and they replaced the case. When he got the new case, it started alright but then the audio coming from his calls was terrible. He took it on himself to call Lifeproof again and then gladly sent him another case, and he said you could clearly see a physical difference in the old and new case. He said he thinks they said it had something to do with blocking the extra mic that has something to do with the noise cancelling.

  • How can you lock the screen on iPhone in iOS 7 while talking on the phone?

I am struggling to figure out how to lock the screen of my iPhone 5 during a phone call. In iOS 6, I was able to push the top "on/off" button to lock the screen. In iOS 7, I am able to do this ONLY while using the speakerphone. If I push this button while talking on the phone regularly or using a headphone, it ends the call rather than locking the screen.
I have found that I am muting calls and disconnecting calls accidentially with my "face" while holding the phone b/c the screen is so sensitive. Does anyone know a way around this?

I dont know of a way round this, but im having the same issue of puttig people on hold when putting the phone up to my ear.
This was an issue with the iphone 4 years ago and apple had to do an update to cure it

  • 8830 with softward upgrade, sounds like a transform when i am answering the phone.

So wild, when someone call and I hit the green button it sounds like a that sound the transforms make. OR sounds like someone is putting their microphone upto a speaker. I wonder if anyone is having this issue also. 8830 on Bell Mobility, just got the phone as an RMA.
PS- this is my 5th unit this year so I am trying to make sure its not a software issue before I lose it on Bell and RIM.

See earlier post re TINNY SOUND ON 8800 AFTER SOFTWARE UPGRADE.
I've had problems since upgrading 8800 software from ver 4.2,  to ver. 4.5.  So far, no help from BB (RIM) or Rogers.
    Good luck.

  • Bounce DOESN'T sound like Mix Playback, Mid boost, stereo field smaller

Anyone had this one happen yet? Your mix is rockin along, client is happy, you hit bounce and it sounds like someone just threw a comforter over your speakers and cut your low end at 100 during playback?
Freaking out. Never had this happen in years of use. No plugs on Master, bounce Interleaved, AIFF, 48k 24 bit.
    Help!
    Thanks

I've struggled with a similar problem i.e my mix will sound awesome and perfect when I play it back through Logic and my (pretty decent) monitors. I will bounce the mix and say, bring it into WaveBurner. When I play the mix in WaveBurner is sounds a little different. This makes since as the file has to be dummied down a bit to fit on a CD. The real shock comes when I play the song in say, my car. I expect it to sound little different (different speakers) but what I find is the bass is gone...Or way too loud. Or the vocals are completely soft. Or (I work with bagpipers) the pipes will be so loud you can't hear anything else! This drove me nuts and wasted tons of blank CD's and time running back and forth, re-mixing this or that.
After some discussion with other groups it occured to me that maybe it's my audio interface. If you have a cheap AD/DA converter in your interface then your mixes will not be true. I used a Mackie 400F then upgraded to an Apogee Ensemble. The Apogee doesn't sound as good as the Mackie but I think the output is more true to what you hear on the final product.
I don't know if this helps (and I may be completely off about cheap converters!). I wanted to share my experience with a similar problem. -T

  • 27'' iMac making sound like bongos drumming

f`or lack of a better description my 27'' iMac is making a sound like someone is constantly drumming on bongos.  It will stop for a few seconds and then start up again until I restart the computer. What is this.

A suggestion across more than a few discussions, says to replace the keyboard.
If a keyface is stuck down, or the switch faulty inside the keyboard, the audio
sound usually associated with that function (with sounds on) is what you hear.
You could try making a new user account and test for this odd sound there.
If it still exists after a time of use, the keyboard may be OK. Still you may
have to contact Apple Store and set an appointment with a Genius about it.
{However those with a background in strange movies have another opinion...
    it's jumanji: we've wondered where it would turn up next.}
Anyway, you could see if your Mac & k/b is still under warranty; or take it to an
Apple Store genius bar (with appointment) and ask they check it for you.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Dear Mr. Toad (my all-time favorite ride at Disneyland ;-) ..
Thanks so much for your detailed reply.. my netbook is in the bedroom, turned off.. I (so far) only use it in the evening, in the bedroom.. I've saved your response, and will try your suggestions, and let you know if they solve the problem I described. I really appreciate you taking the time to post such a detailed reply..
I can't answer your Thunderbird "configuration" questions, because I'm in the living room, using the crap Vista laptop, on which I plan to install Thunderbird, and then take Windoze Mail out in the street and drive over it a few times.. I'll get back to you one way or the other, and let you know if your instructions solved the problem, or not..
I don't understand why Thunderbird "out of the box", so to speak, simply doesn't forward HTML emails with embedded graphics, (like Outlook Excess, and Winblows Mail do).. without having to go through those steps. I personally HATE HTML email, but over the years, it's become more and more prevelant.. so it's a problem I must fix..
    Thanks again..
    Harv..

  • I was playing Angry Birds and had to hit the pause button to listen to something.  When I hit the pause/play button again to resume, I heard talking that sounded like a talk-radio program and I couldn't turn it off, even when I turned off my iPad.

Does anyone know what would cause me to start hearing a talk program of some type after hitting the play button after it had been on pause.  Hitting the pause button shuts off the talking, but hitting the play button starts it up again.  The strange thing is that the talking continues even after I turn off my iPad. The talk program was about silly or trendy news items, not regular news.  It sounds like it could be a talk-radio program, but there were no call letters or information on where it was coming from or who was talking.  The person doing all the talking is a male and sounds like he could be in his 20's.  The only way I could turn it off was to hit the pause button and then turn off my iPad. I just got my iPad last week and had not had any problems with it until this happened.  At the time this happened I was playing a version of Angry Birds that kept being interrupted by t-mobile commercials from time to time, which I had never experienced before. either.

Well, shut my mouth!  There was a similar question over to the right about a 6th generation nano repeating over and over again -- I read the answer to that one, followed the instructions, and holy crap, it's back to normal.
Is there a name for this when you end up replying to your own aggravating question?  That's what I did.  Now I can go out and listen.  It's only 91 degrees.  Heaven. Thanks, Apple.
