hi guys can anyone help me out? there is no sounds coming out from my imac pro when im playing video or muci in you tube, however; it works with my itunes...any help pls..

Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Advanced tab.
Click Delete All under Browsing Data and Settings
Assuming you are using Safari to view YouTube content...
Press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Quit and relaunch Safari, try a video.
If that doesn't help, you may have the YouTube HTML5 beta enabled.

I believe it has little to nothing to do with extensions.
I have just installed Firefox 27 on the Dell Inspiron 3520 laptop of a friend. She is an unsophisticated user who has a computer for email, simple web browsing, and watching YouTube and other online videos. Because she frequently seems to end up with junk on her machine, I wanted to switch her over to Firefox so I could install ad and script blockers that would hopefully slow down the frequency of adware and malware roosting in her system.
The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 3520 with an Intel celeron CPU (64-bit), running Windows 8. There are standard end-user applications installed (Adobe Reader, VLC Media Player, etc.), but no tweaking utilities, etc. The audio drivers are Cirrus Logic High Definition Audio.
I've been troubleshooting the laptop today trying to track down why the integrated speakers continue to work when the headphones are plugged in, with no sound coming through the headphones. Because I had run a series of virus / malware / adware scans just before installing Firefox, I thought I had mistakenly deleted some system audio files.
It finally became clear after toggling multiple settings, playing with Windows and Dell sound settings, and experimenting, that the headphone audio jack still works as it should in the system itself (for example, playing videos through VLC Media Player) and in Internet Explorer. It is only in Firefox that plugging in the headphones does not send audio through the headphones nor cut out the integrated speakers.
Sometimes there is a silencing of the integrated speakers for a few seconds, but then the audio kicks in again. (I am using YouTube and a certain movie streaming website to test the audio).
However, if the headphones are plugged in before starting the videos, the sound comes through the headphones, but unplugging the headphones, then reinserting them, stimulates problem again. Not only that, but then in YouTube the video will stall and can't be restarted until the page is reloaded.
Again, this is a fresh Firefox install of less than 24 hours, with only Adblock, Adblock Plus Pop-up Addition, Flashblock, and NoScript installed. There are no themes installed and most of the Options are the defaults that are set upon installation.
I have both disabled the add-ons and uninstalled them entirely before testing the headphone funtionality. In both instances the problem persisted. I've also uninstalled and let Windows re-install the Cirrus audio drivers.
Does anyone else have any insight into this problem, and any potential solutions other than "start in Safe Mode" and "reset Firefox"?

Firefox can switch audio devices within ~ a + or - 10 minute period or so (Just a guess). At which point it latches onto the audio device and will never change until the entire process is shutdown (read last paragraph, there is an exception)
Ive had this problem for a few months now, at least. And I switch back and forth from my sound system and my wireless USB headset.
If anything will fix this i believe it would be disabling "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in the properties of your default audio device, but i doubt it. I think this is an issue regarding the code in firefox itself.
I'd like to see this turned into a default feature, being able to disable and enable the ability to stay on whichever device was the default at the time of launch, or to always play on the current default device, even if its changed. That or being able to choose a specific device/devices (WOULD LOVE TO THIS).
Other than that I dont really have a solution, and I kind of doubt anyone will unless its addressed in the next update.
Oh I thought of one solution that doesnt require restarting firefox, disable the current audio device and the sound will automatically switch to the next available device. Or possibly when a new device is introduced?? I havent done much testing on the matter though. This is just my best guess based on my personal experience with firefox.

Browser sound not working when webcam is connected

The other day I got a USB logitech webcam and I was able to get it working on my arch Linux. However, I'm having problems with the sound. When I plug in my webcam to my computer, there won't be any problem if my computer was already running, but if I plug in my USB webcam before starting my computer, the sound for browsers won't work at all. I thought it was Flash related issue, but I noticed that Chromium cannot play html5 videos, either. On the other hand, Amarok and other applications have no problem with the sound.
My other issue is with the volume manager. My keyboard has a button for adjusting the volume, but if my webcam is connected, it won't be able to adjust the volume for my speakers. When I try to use this button, the picture for volume adjustment shows up with an empty bar.
I think there's a conflict between my PCI sound card and the microphone of my USB webcam. Any idea how to resolve this issue?

It's not the browser issue. It's an issue with the order of the cards.
Sometimes The webcam goes as HW0 and the system try to use that rather than your sound card.
Quickest fix:
Edit /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf
Add:
alias snd-card-0 snd-whatso-ever
alias sound-slot-0 snd-whatso-ever
Where snd-whatso-ever is your... sound card.
To find it use:
ls -l /sys/module/snd/holders

ALSA: Sound not working when webcam is plugged in. [Solved]

I'm using the out-of-the-box sound setup (ALSA, nothing else). My sound card setup (including the USB webcam with mike):

Update: As mentioned above, the current wiki contents were useless. However, I discovered a fix and will be adding it to the wiki:
I noticed several of the more hands-off repos (namely Linux Mint and Ubuntu) contain an ALSA config file at /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf. In it, among other things, are lines that ensure USB cards are not selected as the first sound card. Creating a file at /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf with the following contents fixed the problem:

options saa7134-alsa index=-2
options snd-atiixp-modem index=-2

Sounds not working when a message is received, despite it being turned on?

Despite all the proper settings on my iPad, when I receive a message there is no Sound received. This occurred right after I upgraded to iOS 6.

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

Here's what hardware troubleshooting suggests:
iPod touch (4th generation): No audio on FaceTime or video recording
Verify that nothing is blocking the microphone (located on the back next to the main camera).
If a protective case is used, try removing the device from the case.
Try turning the device off and back on.
If this does not help, restore your ipod "as new device" without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt files. Follow this article to do so: How to back up your data and set up as a new device
If this does not bring back your microphone, contact Apple to get it serviced.

When playing YouTube in background the phone stays on and does not auto lock and if it is auto locked and you receive a text it will stay on / lit even in the lock screen

Mine and my wifes iphon 5s is having way too many problems for today's technology, when using iTunes music app from the lock screen if you press pause from the lock screen it stays the same not like before when you paused the music the play buttons would disappear but now they just stay there, and when playing YouTube videos in the background from safari and the phone is in lock screen and you receive a text the screen will stay lit until you turn it off yourself and also the same thing happens in the home screen if your playing YouTube from safari in the background the phone won't auto dim of auto lock after any amount of time it will stay on forever these problems need to be fixed, also the wifi is not working like it used to and the LTE and 3G data are slow, slower then the 3GS when ios 6 came out. Any number of things could have caused the phone to do this. If after the reset you are experiencing additional problems, the next step in the troubleshooting process is a restore from a backup. Make sure you have one before you start the restore process. If that does not improve things, then you may have to restore as a new device. Remember, restoring as a new device will delete all data off the phone. Make sure all of your pictures are imported to the computer and all other data is synced to supported applications on the computer before restoring as new. If you double tap the home button, and then swipe your finger to the right, make sure you DO NOT have the Lock Orientation button enabled.
You know it is disabled if there is no padlock in the middle of the icon.

Sound not working on Youtube video embedded in webpage used in web clip.

I created a web clip and installed it using ipcu. On the web page I've created that I'm using for the web clip, there is an embedded Youtube video. The sound for the video is not working. Why is the sound not working? It works in safari if go to Youtube.

My computer also recently downloaded soundflower? I didn't approve of this change
I'm not sure what that means, but if Soundflower really is installed, uninstall it according to the developer's instructions. Back up all data before making any changes. Reboot and test.
