Sounds skips and games fre

When playing some games (most typically for me, when playing Counterstrike: Condition Zero) the game's sound begins to skip and the game freezes forcing me to reboot the PC. I think it is my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum card. Anyone know what to do to fix this? Relevant system spec:
WinXP Pro
GB memory
Audigy 2 ZS Platinum sound card (driver = 5.2.2.444, 0/8/2004)
P4C800-E Deluxe mother board (with the latest drivers, v2 I believe)

Sound skips and drags on videos, games, music etc- satellite L755

My laptop is a satellite L755 and I bought it only around 25 days ago.
Whenever I watch a video over the internet, play music or a game, the sound skips and drags. It usually does this around 20 seconds a time. I've been on loads of websites and tried so much but I can't seem to stop it! Please help its doing my nut in!

Audio From Speakers Keeps Skipping and Stuttering on HP ENVY 15-j185nr

Hi I have a HP ENVY 15-j185nr and My speakers audio keeps skipping and stuttering and i can see in the beats audio control panel that it fluctuates in the levels between the Bass and Treble and also The Volume. Now When I connect my Beats Wireless Headphones to My Computer i have no problem with the audio on the bluetooth side but when i connect the headphones on the wired side and plug it into the computer audio jack the audio is playing from both headphones and speakers and it is STILL skipping and Stuttering. My Computer OS was 8.1 Enterprise when this Problem Occured and since then I've updated to Windows 10 Enterprise by Doing a clean install hoping that this will fix the problem but it didn't After i updated my windows OS I can now see in the Device Manager in the Sound, Video and Game Controllers Category that my High Definition Audio Device have a yellow triangle exclamation point icon under it and its device status says This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful. The driver version is 10.0.10240.16384 and The drver date is Thursday July 9. 2015. i've uninstalled and resinstalled the driver numerous times and the exclamation icon is still there and i wanted to know is it a Hardware problem or a Driver Problem?. Is this a simple fix or do i have to take it in and get it fix by a computer tech? can anybody please help me?

Try the following
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

When the reinstallation has completed, shut down the notebook by holding down the Shift key as you click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot. Then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

No sound when playing games

hi i own an Hp pavilion 6135 dx entertaiment pc beats audio edition
i have an issue i have recently done a hp factory reset to my laptop and now when i play games i get no audio . i get audio when playin videos and playing music but as soon as i open up a game such as METRO LAST NIGHT or CALL OF JUAREZ :GUNSLINGER i get no audio in neither games my IDT drivers are up to date i have done multiple updates to windows and search for all updates in my hp support assistant which says i am up to date on all drivers. i tried going into bios menu an reseting to default after uninstalinng IDT driver thenreinstall it ... did not work i tried all methods of troubleshooting like testing using headphones i rolling back IDT driver upgrading IDT driver but nothing seems to work... without gaming im lost i need some desperate helphere the games run fine just no audio.i need to fix this. have tried these methods and more

I'm sorry you're running into this sound issue. It sounds like you've done a good job troubleshooting already. Let me know which product number you have. You may be able to find it by pressing FN + ESC (if you used the HP Recovery partition to reinstall Windows). You can also find the product number on an HP label on the bottom of the computer (possibly inside the battery compartment).
Also, it would be helpful to know which IDT Audio driver version you have.
Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > IDT > Properties > Driver tab > Driver version number
When you have a game open, minimize it and check to see which sound device is the default. To do that:
1. Right-click on the Speaker icon in the System Tray
2. Click Playback Devices
3. Let me know which (Speakers & Headphones, Communication Headphoens, etc.) device has the green checkmark on it.
Do you get sound through headphones in games?

ATV3 - I need to enable dolby digital for optical surround sound (netflix and home movies), but when I do this it stops audio coming through TV speakers

I have a cinema sound receiver connected to Apple TV via optical cable. When I have dolby digital set to Auto it doesn't come through as dolby digital when watching movies on netflix and iTunes (home movies).
If I set Dolby Digital to ON it works as expected, but the sound stops working through normal TV speakers (via HDMI). This is the same for netflix and home movies.
I tried 16 bit setting, but it made no difference.
Any advice on how I can get this working - meaning Dolby Digital always on for when I turn my surround sound on and sound through speakers for normal operation?
Obviously I can change the setting when needed, its just a pain.

here is the friendly and signed driver installation method to enable Dolby Digital Plus in your Encore internal speakers only. This is not an official driver, there is no control panel for Dolby Digital Plus or various sound effects, but tested and has much better and richer surround sound quality as before with factory driver. I guess, this driver tweak can work with any Bay Trail tablet also.
How can you upgrade Encore sound drivers:
1. Download signed driver package and extract.
2. Open Device Manager.
3. Upgrade your Sound, Video and game controllers
- Intel SST Audio Device
- Realtek I2S Audio Codec
one by one with "Have a disk" method.
4. Double click enabledolby.reg file and add to your registry.
5. Restart, and enjoy better sound quality.

When I play any video on my Pavilion g6 - 2168 sa, the sound skips and stutters. I have Windows 7. This is very frustrating as I only bought the laptop new 2 weeks ago. Any solutions?

Try the following.

Win 8.1 Sound mutes and unmutes randomly

Over the past week or so I have experienced a problem with the audio on my HP Envy Touchsmart 15-j002ax Notebook
Randomly, my sound will mute/unmute itself, sometimes many times in a row. I'm using the built in Radeon HD Audio with the newest HP drivers (according to the HP Support website)
When the speakers mute or unmute an icon appears automatically in the top let hand side of the the screen and it displays the percentage of volume, the same as the speakers icon in the system tray. However the percentage is displayed in a black box icon and is not the normal speaker icon. The f6 key on my keyboard illuminates when the random mute occurs and disappears when the random unmute occurs. Depressing the f6 key when a mute occurs does nothing. However pressing the volume adjustment keys f7 or f8 unmutes the speakers. Also if I display the system tray speaker icon and click the mute symbol the sound is unmuted
However, the random muting and unmuting keeps occurring and I cannot control it or any length of time

It appears that you're having issues with the audio in your notebook, that it's being randomly muted and unmute. I will attempt to assist you.
Start with this document: No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 8). This may have steps that can help you.
If nothing there helps, go into Device Manger > sound, video and game controllers > right click on the audio driver(s) choose to uninstall (make sure to check the box to delete the driver).
Download these drivers: HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j002ax Notebook PC Drivers (which you may have) and install. Restart your notebook.
If this fails to help, try a System Refresh.

Headphone sound mono and muffled

Aspire R7, Windows 7 - 64bit. Intel mainboard with nvidia graphics card.
Use to work, but after re-installation and later updates, it suddenly didn´t.
Sound, video and game controllers show: Intel Display Audio driver and Realtek High Definition Audio driver.
Playback devices only show "Speakers". It used to show more. And if Intel Display Audio driver is uninstalled, then Playback devices will show 2 HDMI digital devices, but then Speakers become mono.
In realtek HD Audio Manager -> speaker configuration there´s only stereo. There used to be surround, 5.1 and 7.1 also.
Installing the latest realtek driver does not change anything.
Installing the latest Intel HD 4000 graphics driver is impossible. Others have on intel website reported the same problem, that the intel 4000 HD installer alerts that the computer doesn´t match the driver.
Nvidia HD audio can not be installed. Don´t recall if it did or that was another computer.
But headphone sounds are muffled and mono, and when plugged in there is a popup selection of "Speakers", "Headphones" or "Headset": If "Speakers" are chosen then the voices are completely cut, if "Headphones"
are chosen they can be heard but distorted. And if "Headset" are chosen they appear clearer, but still muffled and in mono.

This issue can be mostly caused by drivers. The driver issue can also cause the unstable performance of hardware device.
I suggest you uninstall all Video card and audio drivers, and update Motherboard driver and BIOS firstly.
Then, in device manager to install the driver for Video card and audio device.
If it doesn't work, check the event logs in Event viewer to see if there is any related recorder. Post back for our research.

Intermittent sound - Gateway and Vista

Thanks hockeycanuckjc for the dvd help. Another Gateway/Vista problem: sound is intermittent - most of the time it's "red x'd" but let the computer sleep a few times and it's green and there is sound. Sometimes sound starts green, goes back and forth a few times between green and red and then no sound. Any thoughts?

Do you have the disc for your drivers? Do you know how to operate your recovery solution? If you have the disc or know how to reinstall drivers, click on the start button, under where it says "Start Search" type in "Device Manager" and press Enter. The Windows User Account Control will make you confirm your action. Once you are in the device manager, Click the + next to Sound, video and game controllers. Right click your sound card and select uninstall, and then reboot your computer. Once you are done rebooting, reinstall your sound card and you should be taking care of the issue. If this does not help, the audio on the motherboard might be going out.

It's pamonvashon again (the person who posted the question). I fixed it so I'll tell you how in case it happens to you. I was correct. I went back and re downloaded the game, "Virble". At the beginning of the game o I used the buttons on the side of the phone to turn the sound off and on and the sound came on! A miracle! So beware of VIRBLE!!!

Sound skips in Safari and Chrome

I have a problem with sound skipping in Safari and Google Chrome. Whenever I am playing music or watching a movie in these browsers the sound is fine, but if I open another application, select another application, or if the computer goes to screensaver the sound skips. This has been happening for quite awhile now and it is very frustrating. Any suggestions? Thanks

Recurring theme with the 4s losing alerts except for the phone ringing. Most complaints seem to center on the 7.1 upgrade. The fix is dodgy, putting in a charger, playing a you tube video then pulling out the charger and wiggling it until you get the sound back. When you get the sound back, the volume buttons start to work again. Alternate solutions involve cleaning the docking port with a toothbrush, running a pick over the electrodes etc.
