Soundstorm, i still dont get it

hello,
i still dont get it, which nf2 board supports soundstorm?  eventhough i've asked this a million times, i still couldnt get a straight answer.  does asus deluxe offer them? msi, which model? leadtek? epox?
but i guess, soundstorm could only be achieved with spdif, right?
thanks

There are only 2 nforce 2 boards by MSI that have Soundstorm. They are the K7N2G-ILSR and the K7N2 Delta-ILSR. These are the only MSI boards that come with the MCP2-T. Go to the links below and on both pages under PRO. MODEL OPTIONS only the ILSR models come with the MCP2-T which is required for Soundstorm. It is very easy to look at these web sites and assume all boards have Soundstorm but they don't. You have to read the fine print. I know the ASUS A7N8X Deluxe has Soundstorm but I'm not sure what other nforce 2 boards have it.

Hope this helps!!

  • APU SoundStorm I still dont get it

    hello,
i read the reviews in anandtech, it says that aside from the APU, it still has a realteck chip.  the APU is just the DSP and still needs the realtek chip?  whats a DSP?  and is APU and soundstorm the same?  then why do some manufacturer say it has APU but no soundstorm (correct if me if i'm wrong)
both asus and msi use the realtek chip in nforce 2?  but also both support apu and soundstorm?
then if our nforce one has the apu, what "other" chip do we use?
how about asus' nforce 1 board, does it use apu?  i thought they did not, they used c-media.  and why is it that when you use c-media, you cant use the apu, but when you use the realtek chip you still get soundstorm?
    thanks,
    edison

so msi nforce 1, used the APU DSP and used a no name codec.
and asus nforce 1, used c-media, which is a DSP and at the same time a codec?
but with nforce 2, either asus or msi, they both use the APU, both realtek codec, with SoundStorm?
how come there are versions that have APU but dont have soundstorm?  i mean, its the same chip, why doesnt it get the same sound quality?
DSP stands for Digital Signal Processor. APU stands for Audio Processing Unit. SO the APU is a DSP. What it does is take the sound and add all the available effects, perform routing, etc. The cherry thing about the nforce is the ability to encode Dolby 5.1 in real time for those who have digital inputs on thier amplfier systems.
Now aside from that, there is also another circuit that actually creates the analog sounds. Its usually a single chip solution that takes the place of a Audigy or other soundblaster add-on card. C-Media is one type.. and RealTek has another.
From what I can tell, Soundstorm is a sound processing hardware/software solution that has a flashy name. Thats why we got it enabled by a driver upgrade to 1.12+ instead of having to add hardware. It was simply latent.

  • Business Phones - Nokia Still Dont Get It!

I've recently moved from a Blackberry to Nokia E5. I mut say that my new Nokia has everything the Blackberry does, except I was surprized to find that Nokia has learnt nothing from Blackberry's success.
The email application on the E5 is nothing short of completely useless.I've tried both the regular email and push email and both fall seriously short. The regular email takes hours to download a single message and the phone keep prompting you to select your preferred connection and there are all these prompts like, "connecting", "disconnecting", "loading". The blackberry has none of these prompts...
I also tried the Nokia push email service hoping that I wouldn't have to sit for hours just to load one single email. After signing up on the website, I tried to enter my work IMAP and SMTP settings. During the setup, I didn't see the option to use StartTLS, only SSL. In any case, the first time I set it up, the Nokia website could not connect, the forth time it connected, I received an SMS on my phone. I clicked on the SMS and lone behold I started receiving email messages.
From a user interface standpoint, the Nokia push email service is definitely nowhere near the usability of the black berry. For instance, the email headers take up the whole screen. You have to scroll down on every message to see the message content. This is a pain if you just want to flip across your messages to see if there is anything important available. Furthermore, I am not sure why they bother with the download original html message, since Nokia's phone seems incapable of actually retrieving a message dispite the fact that I am on a 3G network with fast Internet browsing configured. Also, you can clearly see that Nokia's email application is retrofitted to support push email but is not designed from the ground up to support push email.
Getting the feeling that my E5 might not be a total write off, I thought I'd try setup my girlfriends state of the art Nokia phone. Curiously, when we subscribed with her phone, we did not receive an SMS, the Nokia web site just showed her account status after signing up.
Anyway, on my phone, after about 30 minutes, I noticed that Nokia's push email service just stopped working. It simply stopped sending emails. It seems even though I might be tempted to overlook the shortcomings of Nokia's push email service, it doesn't even work.
Conclusion: (1) five years later, Nokia still does not have a grasp on one of the most important applications for business users, namely push email. I find this absolutely, astounding since it is just an easy concept to understand. Are Nokia engineers actually thinking at all?
    (2) Nokia push email service is time consuming and difficult to setup
    (3) Nokia's push email service doesn't work
    (4) Nokia's push email service is a retrofit on a useless email client
These facts, make the Nokia wholely inadequate for business use. Its no wonder they are getting pummelled in the market.

I managed to get push email working by installing Emoz.... a Symbian application that seems to work better than Nokia's push email. Still, I feel that Nokia makes excellent phones, but its time someone banged them in the head so that they can finally understand what their customers are really looking for re: push email. In my mind, there is little point in having a standard email client in a phone at all. Push email is absolutely essential. And it is essential to get 100% right to win in the marketplace.

  • HT203345 i ajusted my pop up blocker & i still dont get RUN or SAVE option after I press download

    PLEASE HELP

It seems that in some cases the scripts on Apple's site that are intended to query your system to offer the appropriate installer don't work as intended, taking you straight to the "Thank you for downloading" page.  Depending on the edition of Windows you are running, there are three variants of the most recent version of iTunes, with direct links to the installers as follows:
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.2.27  (64-bit) - iTunes6464Setup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 (64-bit "for older video cards") - itunes64setup.exe
The third of these - which is actually the 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer - should be used if you get a warning about video card incompatibility when you install the standard 64-bit version, but also may resolve issues with playback, QuickTime compatibility, and problems with some third-party applications (including Outlook).
See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation.

Recurring theme with the 4s losing alerts except for the phone ringing.  Most complaints seem to center on the 7.1 upgrade.  The fix is dodgy, putting in a charger, playing a you tube video then pulling out the charger and wiggling it until you get the sound back.  When you get the sound back, the volume buttons start to work again.  Alternate solutions involve cleaning the docking port with a toothbrush, running a pick over the electrodes etc.

I shared my apple id with my sons iphone.  Now dont want him seeing my imessages.  I changed my apple id on my phone for imessages and facetime.  But he still is getting imessages sent to me?  Help

    Hi fredfromcan,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  I would recommend signing out of your Apple ID for iMessage on your son's iPhone, instructions for which are found here:
iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268
To sign out of your Apple ID
Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, and select Sign Out.
You may also want to make sure his phone number is deactivated for your Apple ID:
    iOS: Deactivating iMessage

To deregister your phone number, tap Settings > Messages and turn iMessage off.

  • I know how to make firefox 12's tabs go to the bottom, but even so they still dont look exactly as they did in 3.6, how do I make them look exactly the same?

Considering a few websites stopped working for me seeing as I was still using 3.6.X, I reluctantly decided to finally upgrade today, and it automatically upgraded to version 12. Needless to say, I wanted it to look exactly as it did in 3.6.26, and I spent a good portion of the day tinkering with various add-ons and the like to get things back the way they were. One thing is still bugging me though, the tabs, which I managed to get to the bottom of the screen, still dont look exactly as they did. There used to be a small dividing line between the tabs and the actual page, and the + on the new tab button was smaller (and I know this all seems rather picky, but it does bother me). And while I'm at it, is there any add-on that will give me the same back/forward, X, refresh, and home icons as 3.6.26? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Mac cant see the wifi network if i dont get close enough which was not an issue before

Hi. I have a macbook pro OSX 10.8.4
At the office my mac can not see our network router if i dont get close enough.
This was not an issue before i could directly connect it at my desk. now when i turn the
computer on i need to take to mac as closest as i can get to the router ( in next room ) wait for connection
and return to my room. and this way i still can get full signal.
and also a windows laptop on my desk and even my iphone can find the router and connect with no problem
    at my office.
    any ideas ?

Hi! It's been a while but here's the latest update on the case.
(And yeah,I've been struggling until today to find a solution...Danny's personal advice: don't move to Italy if you don't wanna get lost in a Customer Service nightmare...)
Anyhow, it turned out to be as simple as this:
    1) Create a location dedicated to the home network.
    2) Insert PPPoE user name and password given by ISP.
    3) Connect.
    4) Browse wirelessly.
...I feel a little dumb overlooking this option....but, I still have some doubts reg the procedure.
Why did I have to create a dedicated location?
Why do I have to use PPPoE rather than DHCP?
    Thanks mate,
    D

  • Updated my iphone with iOS7.0.3, still dont have the option to reject the call or reject the call with a message when someone call and the phone is in the lock screen?

Updated my iphone with iOS7.0.3, still dont have the option to reject the call or reject the call with a message when someone call and the phone is in the lock screen? I was of the impression that this issue will be fixed with updates. Please see the screenshot.

    Hello Beardsell,
This is when the phone is unlocked mode. My snapshot is when the phone is locked.
Remember when you get a call when the phone is locked and you used to have slide to answer in iOS 6 and if you slide up you would have options to reject, reject with a message and reject with a reminder. We dont have that in iOS 7. iOS 7 *****,  I cannot get back to iOS6, apple needs to be user friendly. Screen shot 1 when the phone is locked, screenshot 2 when the phone is unlocked.

  • When i connect i5 to itunes .. i dont get "delete" option for songs upon right click .. can anyone help me with this plz?

when i connect i5 to itunes .. i dont get "delete" option for songs upon right click .. can anyone help me with this plz?

Yes, annoying. A couple of options:
While it's playing the current A song, click on the H song to select it (but not double click to play it), when iTunes jumps to the second A song, press the down key and iTunes will remember that you had that H song selected and will move the selection to the second H song while the second A song is still playing. So, still jumps around, but easy to get back to where you were.
Create a new playlist for your music, right click on it, select "New Window" and you can browse your music in a second list while the first window continues to play music. But if you then start playing music in that second window, you have to go back to the first window if you want to start browsing again. Not great if you're navigating around to play the next song.
Play music from iTunes DJ, then as you're browsing around your library, you can add things to play next in DJ, and go back. You can combine this with previous suggestion, to keep DJ open in one window while you browser in the other window.
None of these are great, but maybe one of these works better than your current workflow.

  • Socket.setSoTimeOut() i dont get it

    setSoTimeout
    public void setSoTimeout(int timeout)
throws SocketExceptionEnable/disable SO_TIMEOUT with the specified timeout, in milliseconds. With this option set to a non-zero timeout, a read() call on the InputStream associated with this Socket will block for only this amount of time. If the timeout expires, a java.net.SocketTimeoutException is raised, though the Socket is still valid. The option must be enabled prior to entering the blocking operation to have effect. The timeout must be > 0. A timeout of zero is interpreted as an infinite timeout.
i dont get what it means when it says block? stop? And when it says it must be vailid prior to entering the block operation where abouts is that?
    Thanks

Some Socket methods are designed to read a known number of bytes from an input stream. If those methods read less than the specified number of bytes, they will "block", which means that Socket is incapable of performing any other task until the read method completes. This can tie up system resources by keeping connections open, and might not be something desired. To avoid this, you would set the Socket's timeout value, and after the specified interval, if the Socket is still "blocked", it will timeout. When it times out, it throws an exception, but does not close the Socket or perform any Socket-related shutdown routines; it has not been "stopped". In order to shut down the Socket, you would have to write code to catch the appropriate exception, and explicitly close the Socket in that catch block. The explanation of the Socket's behavior is intended to let you know that the timeout process that happens when you set a timeout value greater than 0 is not designed to perform any resource deallocation or Socket close actions - that responsibility is left up to the programmer to handle or delegate as they see fit.
So basically, a Socket, when attempting to read from an input stream, will not be able to do anything else until that read completes - it "blocks" waiting for the read to complete. If the read does not complete, a method is needed to free up resources that may be associated with that Socket after a certain amount of time has passed (maybe the code is being run in an environment where system thread or connectivity resources are at a premium). By setting a timeout value on a Socket you can achieve this goal, but the responsibility for stopping or closing the Socket so that the appropriate resources are released lies with the programmer using the Socket.
Hope this isn't too incomprehensible; I recommend looking at Sun's tutorials and documentation related to Sockets for somewhat clearer explanations and code examples.
