SoundTrack Pro 2.0.2 has bugs along with AUL

Does anyone know if Apple will be releasing a new update for SoundTrack Pro? A few things that I am encountering.
-I CANNOT export a audio file from FCP to STP. I've done everything including reinstalling a clean install of the software but I am still not able to send a file to FCP. What occurs is that the file is sent and STP opens up but that **** beach ball just spins and spins and I have to close down because "APPLICATION NOT RESPONDING". pure frustration.
- I also use Logic Studio 8 and everything works there just fine. What I've noticed is that If I open STP Independently and choose an audio file to place on the timeline I get nothing but a "SCRATCHY" return. I've made sure that all things related were either connected or programmed right as far as input and output of my speaker system and Ultralite Motu Interface. I also happen to notice too that Apple's Utility Loop player does the exact same thing. I've done all the updates and I am still having problems. Does anyone know about any of this? Please let me know because I am completely disgusted and frustrated.

DISREGARD POST PROBLEM SOLVED.
DISCOVERED A PLUG THAT WAS CONNECTED TO MY AUDIO CONNECTION IN THE BACK OF MY COMPUTER WAS DISCONNECTED. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING OK. WOW, A LITTLE PLUG CREATED THIS ENTIRE MESS. ABLE TO SEND FILES TO FCP TO STP WITH NO PROBLEMS. AFTER RE-CONNECTING THE PLUG AND RESTARTING MY COMPUTER EVERYTHING IS A-OK. SORRY,

How to send a "Message" that has text along with a photo

I take a photo with my iPhone5.
I want to send both the photo and a brief message along with it.
I touch the little arrow in the lower left hand side.
If I select "Message" there does not appear to be any way to enter even a minimal amount of text.
I know that I can "Email" it but this seems overkill.
How can I send a "Message" that contains both a photo and text?

After selecting Message, you should see the pic in a white message box. Just tap the screen in the box under the message.

LAN DNS resolution has changed - along with lots of other behaviours

Last Friday I experienced a lot of strange network/firewall behaviour on my Macs, both running 10.6.7. I don't know what the problem is but am trying to isolate it - or them.
Considering just the MacBook Pro, I have been running the same setup for over a year at different locations and never experienced this before. The MBP is named Isola, it runs Windows XP Pro on VMWare Fusion and MAMP as a development/test environment for websites.
Since I have had this setup, with MAMP running and using the normal Apache and MySQL ports I could connect to websites using Mac browsers on: http://localhost/, if I was testing on Windows browsers I would use http://isola/
This worked at home using an Airport connection over a Netgear modem/router:
TCP/IP
Using DHCP with manual address
IPv4: 192.168.0.5
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.0.1
Configure IPv6: Automatically
DNS Servers: 192.168.0.1

I have two Locations set up in networking preferences, Home and Office. DHCP and DNS at home are provided by my ISP I believe. Apparently the IT infrastructure in the building where my office is located handles the DHCP and DNS.
Since last Friday when I try to connect to http://isola/ using a Windows browser the request either times out (Internet Explorer) or is re-routed to http://www.isola.com (Firefox and some other browsers). In order to the site on my MAMP server I have to use http://isola.local/
I can replicate the same behaviour when trying to connect to the MAMP server using my Mac Pro.
I have flushed both Macs' DNS caches, repaired permissions and tried other stuff which I can't quite remember now. Nothing has made any difference.
I'd really like to know if this new behaviour is likely to be caused by my configuration or the office DNS setup and ideally get it back to what it was before.
Yesterday I started experiencing strange behaviour with the MBP firewall. It may be part of the problem or not - I'll include for information. It has always been on and set up normally - none of the Advanced settings checked. There were a whole load of software listed in the Advanced tab such as Skype, Safari, Opera configured to accept incoming connections. Yesterday for the first time ever I had a whole load of firewall dialogue boxes open on start up asking to allow or block network connections to basic OS X services: AppleFileServer, cups-lpd, cupsd, httpd, krb5kdc, mysqld, nmbd, smbd, vmnet-natd. I think some of these are due to File Sharing and Printer Sharing being enabled in the Sharing Preferences - but they've been enabled for over a year.

Safari gives the error message
Safari can't open the page "[URL]" because your computer isn't connected to the Internet.
on any attempt to access a page by URL. If I put in an IP address it loads fine (aside from not being able to resolve any links to images, etc. which are linked using a domain name).
nslookup google.com on the command line gives the error:

nslookup: isc_socket_bind: unexpected error
DNS resolution does not work on Firefox either.
All checkboxes in the System Preferences>Network>Advanced>Proxies tab are unchecked. The box at the bottom ("Bypass proxy settings...") contains:
*.local, 169.254/16

We created a form for my work and set it up online for responses. I have been accessing it off and on now for a couple weeks. Now all of a sudden it has just disappeared!?!@? Any thoughts on why or how?

We had a service outage for parts of Wednesday and most of Thursday. Could you please try to access your form again? I was able to look up your account and it shows that the form is there (Professional Development Consultant Bio) and that you have 20+ people that have submitted data. Is this the correct form? Are you using account [email protected]?

Print Dialog box has changed along with printing function

I installed the latest update and now when I print there is a new dialog box. The problem is on a multi page job it only pulls a few pages from the paper tray and then makes me use the manual feeder for the remaing pages, All paper sizes of the print job are the same and I only have one tray. I am printing on a Brother MFC 4860N. Any solutions? Thanks

Thank you for your respose of 5/1/09 -- sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
1.) I tried your suggestion, but the problem is that Apple and HP have worked to include all/most of the HP software into OS X v. 10.4.11 and beyond. I did not find in my user/.../Library/Preferences .plist files directly referencing my HP 990 Cse printer, which was the only printer not displaying the Printer Dialogue Box.
Open your User/..../Library/Preferences to see the list of .plist files for HP and other manufacturers.
The open the [top level] your-hard-drive/library/Printers/HP to see the [root=basic] files which, I believe, are the actual OS X system files which are on the original System CD or are downloaded for the updates.
2.) I finally got the Printer Dialogue Box for the HP 990 Cse to work --
a.) I ran the OS X Printer Setup Utility app.
b.) I then dragged the icon for the HP 990 Cse printer to the trash; and emptied the trasn.
c.) Restarted the OS X.
d.) Ran the OS X Printer Setup Utillity app again
e.) When the HP 990 Cse did not appear in the list of printers I clicked the "Add" icon.
f.) I selected to add the HP 990 to the Printer List
g.) Nothing happened when I tried to access the HP 990 Printer Dialogue Box.
h.) I did a restart.
i.) I then did a print job using the HP 990.
j.) When the HP 990 icon appeared at the right end of the dock, next to the trash, I grabbed it and dragged it to the place in the dock where I wanted it to reside.
IT WORKS JUST GREAT NOW !!!!

How to uninstall Soundtrack Pro

Hi,
I've upgraded to Logic Studio 2 and I only use Logic Pro. All has been fine but my disk is near to be full, so I want to recover some space uninstalling Soundtrack Pro ( v3.0 ) and the contents associated with it.
I have not found any reference to a customized uninstall in the documentation from Apple. Is there any 'official' procedure to uninstall only Soundtrack Pro ?? Or delete all apps to do a clean install ??

The app for STP3 is not very large. It is in Applications folder.
Other content like Apple Loops and sound beds are used by Logic too. You can find these here -

Recording voice over to Soundtrack Pro

I am trying to record some dialogue for a short film and am looking at the following hardware:
Behringer Xenyx 1002B mixer (I need something with battery power for mobility)
Behringer UCA222 USB audio interface
I am using Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1
Has anyone used this setup? Will STP detect and accept what the ACA222 spits out?
Is there a cheaper option?
Any help is appreciated.

Maybe I didn't understand your question. Are you wanting to mix multiple mics down to one audio signal to record into STP on one track via the analogue audio input on your computer? If that's the case then any mixer should work. I use a USB XLR mic input to feed a mic straight into the USB input on my Macbook pro. I use it for both simple production recording and VoiceOver and ADR recording back at my studio. For multiple mics I believe I could plug in multiple USB adapters, but I will typically use my Edirol R4 for when things get more complicated or I need to be very mobile. If you're mixing more than two mics, then wouldn't any mixer work? If you're looking for a mixing control surface, then your options are limited to a handful of options. I use the Euphonix MC Mix. I'm looking for a box to input (not mix) maybe four mics (boom and three lavs) and feed them via USB or preferably Firewire into STP to record onto separate tracks. The reviews I've read are very mixed. If you or anyone else has a suggestion for this please post it.

I thought it might have something to do with it trying to open the last project, so I tried reopening another project, and that didn't work. I've also trashed the preference file, which also didn't work.
I've already reinstalled twice, and I'm not anxious to just try it again as I've already had to fix Logic Pro in Lion by replacing ProKit and BrowserKit frameworks with earlier versions. Logic works now, and it's just Soundtrack Pro, Compressor and DVD Studio Pro that don't work (not too concerned about Compressor & DVD studio though).
There are an unfortunate number of issues with these pro apps and Lion, and I unfortunately don't have the option of going back to Snow Leopard, but I would if I had the time.

If all you are trying to do is "bounce" the recorded audio from the 8 Track into Logic, you should not need the MMC devices (The MMC object allows you to 'remotely' control recording on the 8 track from Logic)
How are you routing the audio from the 8 track into Logic?
If you have Logic and the 8 track running in-sync, all you should need to do is arm a standard audio track in Logic (set to the correct audio inputs) and hit Rec.

Difference between Soundtrack Pro and the version that came with FCE 3.5

Would like to know what the important differences are between Soundtrack Pro 2 and v1.5 that shipped with Final Cut Express 1.5.

I would say it depends on what (if anything) you need to do when viewing the PDF files in one of those 3 applications.
Acrobat Pro: Provides useful tools in examining the document as well as making some basic corrections. These tools include Output Preview (color warnings, ink viewing, object inspector) and Preflight.
Preview: Has some limitations when viewing documents. Most notably, overprinting cannot be simulated but there may be others. Some transparency blending modes are displayed quite as expected either.
Reader: Lighter weight than Acrobat Pro, but I am not aware of any viewing limitations as compared with Acrobat Pro (and it does support simulating overprinting in viewing)

Why no "snap to edit" in soundtrack pro?

One thing that bugs me about Soundtrack Pro (aside from all the bugs) is the lack of "snap to" fuctionality in Soundtrack Pro. In FCP you turn on snapping and you find the end of a clip easy within a few pixels. With soundtrack you seem to only have the options of Ruler ticks, seconds and frames. Why no "snap to edit" or end/beginning of a clip?
I'm increasing doing most of my editing in FCP. I'm then sending that edit to Soundtrack Pro where I can sweeten it with no further edits. One day Soundtrack pro will be a editing tool. But not just yet.

Thanks for this tip. it's not quite what i had in mind but it may have it's uses.
What i mean is the sort of snapping in FCP. What i should have said was a way for the play head to "snap" to the end of a clip, so you can then move another clip that will then "Snap" to the end of that clip and so on. As it is, if I move a clip to but up against another, it tends to overlap and start a cross fade. What I want is for it to meet a barrier of sorts, and not start overwriting/cross fading with the clip, so i can get precise alignments and not worry about shaving off a few frames here and there.
Is there anyway of doing this?

No Video when using the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" Command

Hello FCP Users,
After reading and rereading the FCP and STP manuals and scouring the boards; I still can not figure out how to view my video clip while I'm editing/sweetening audio in STP. I have even used the DVD tutorial in an attempt to figure it out (all works fine and good with the tutorial example), but I'm stuck here the real world.
I'm thinking their must be some preference setting somewhere in STP that I've missed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

From the Manual:
Soundtrack Pro creates a new audio file project (with the file type .stap) for the clip. The clip can contain video and audio or contain only audio.
In the Final Cut Pro Timeline, Control-click the clip, then choose “Send To >
Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project” from the shortcut menu."

The audio consists of two separate audio tracks A1 is from a lav mic and A2 is from an on-camera mic.
It was captured DV.
If I rt click the video clip in the "video tl" the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" in the dialog box is grayed out/not available for selection, but the Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program is available to select.
If I choose to Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program I get the following an error message: Error sending selection to Soundtrack Pro.
I've tried de-selecting the "linked selection" in the tl and rt click the audio clip in the "audio tl" and that allows me to "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" , but no video in the utility window of STP.

Soundtrack Pro cannot launch. Missing PtoFX.framework

Just installed Logic Studio 9 and ran the updater to make sure I have the latest versions of everything.
Logic Pro, Main Stage ... work fine, but Soundtrack Pro would not open. Here is what I get
Dyld Error Message:
Library not loaded: /Library/Application Support/ProApps/SharedA/Frameworks/ProFX.framework/Versions/A/ProFX
Referenced from: /Applications/Soundtrack Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Soundtrack Pro
Reason: image not found
I searched left and right for the solution to no avail.
I put in the installation disc again, but I cannot select Soundtrack Pro (Or Compressor for that matter) to be installed. It is simply in the disabled state.
Can anyone help?

A small caveat - I could not get the Compressor to work using this method so Compressor still crashes as soon as it opens up.
I did some more digging around and found the following.
1) Soundtrack Pro and Compressor were not installed originally with Logic Studio. The installer said that I already had newer version installed. I never installed Soundtrack pro or Compressor before. /Library/Receipts does not contain any references to either one.
2) I tried to remove both apps according to Apple instructions to no avail. Installer still thinks I have them.
3) I tried (following Apple recommendations) changing the value of the Soundtrack Pro version to force the software update to update Soundtrack Pro. Changing version from 3.0.1 to 3.0.0 does nothing. Changing it to 2.0.1 prompts to install 2.0.2 which I did not want to do since I am not sure what kind of damage that will do to the rest of the system.
So basically - if anyone knows how to force the installer to install Soundtrack Pro from the actual Logic Pro DVD - that would be the real solution.
Any help is appreciated.

Soundtrack Pro Crashing

I have a feeling I've got some corrupted files somewhere. I'm getting the following error when I try to move a file onto a track.
NSUnknownKeyException
[<BinBrowserModule 0xf8bbd20> valueForUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key selectedSourceProviders.
Anyone else seen this problem?
If I need to reinstall, whats the best way to get Soundtrack Pro off my system before the reinstall.
I'm running Soundtrack Pro 3.0 on an Intel MacPro with 6GB memory and 2 TB of disk.

I'm sure Jon will chime in, but the best way is via Digitalrebellion.com,s FCS maintenance pack. You can selectively remove STP or its preferences. I don't bother removing the sound files
