Soundtrack Pro skipped during install

Greetings:
I recently upgraded to Final Cut Studio from the previous Studio version. Prior to installing the latest FCS, I had installed Logic Express 8.
All went well with the FCS update, except for Soundtrack, which the installer simply skipped, and continues to do so.
The installer log reads:
Apr 22 13:13:58 richard-wagners-power-mac-g5 Installer[2989]: Choices not allowed:
Apr 22 13:13:58 richard-wagners-power-mac-g5 Installer[2989]: Soundtrack Pro: TT_NEWERALREADYINSTALLED

Apr 22 13:13:58 richard-wagners-power-mac-g5 Installer[2989]: com.apple.pkg.StereoImpulseOne old 0 new 1.0.0.20000.85
I've trashed all relevant package receipts (Logic, Pro, Soundtrack) to no avail.
I've tried installing directly from the Soundtrack Pro package within the installer package only to receive the following message
Could not find specified message for index 0
Huh?
Any further suggestions, hints or ideas? Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I'm trying to reinstal logic studio 9 and on the screen where you select and deselect the instal options soundtrack pro (and therefore compressor) are labelled as skip and greyed out not allowing select. The same is true for the apple loops utility. I'm pretty sure i removed all the files of previous instal. Anyone help?

  • Unable to launch Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1 (Fresh Install)

I've just installed Logic Studio on a clean installation of Leopard (10.5.1) on my dual 2ghz G5. For some reason Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1 immediately quits upon launch with the error *"The application Soundtrack Pro quit unexpectedly."*
I've attempted to reinstall only Soundtrack Pro 2 from the Logic Studio disc, but this does not resolve the issue.
Prior to installing Logic Studio, I had installed Final Cut Studio 1 (which included Soundtrack Pro version 1), so I don't know if this prior installation in some way conflicted with it.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be much appreciated!

    I've figured it out!
I'm posting the solution here in hopes that it will help out anyone else who may be running into this issue.
For some reason the Logic Studio installer was not installing the ProAppsMetaDataSupport framework needed by Soundtrack Pro 2. This may have to do with my previous existing installation of Final Cut Studio 1, which contained Soundtrack Pro 1 and Compressor 2.3.1.
Here's what I did to remedy my issue...
    1) Delete all Soundtrack Pro 1.x system files
    2) Delete all Compressor & QMaster files (for directions, see:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302845
    3) Upon running Logic Studio, I noticed that though I could install Soundtrack Pro 2, the option to install Compressor was grayed out and indicated 'Skip'. I quite the installer and realized it was necessary to install Compressor directly using the package file.
    4) On the Logic Studio disc, control-click the *Install Logic Studio* icon and select *Show Original*. This will take you to a hidden folder containing all of the individual installation packages.
    4) To install Compressor first, open Compressor.mpkg
    5) After I installed Compressor, I chose to run the main Logic Studio installer, and chose to install Soundtrack Pro.The installation for Soundtrack Pro should run normally, and it should install the ProMetaDataframework automatically.
I also did notice that the installation packages folder did contain an entry for ProAppsMetadataSupport.pkg, so you may be able to run this if it for some reason doesn't install.
After this, both applications finally launched perfectly! Ok, time for bed.

  • Install Soundtrack Pro if already have Final Cut Pro Studio installed?

Should I install Soundtrack Pro if I already have Final Cut Studio installed?

EddyBoy_UK - I've got the most recent FCP Studio 2, with all the updates, yet the option was set to install Soundtrack pro.
I guess I'll get on hold with Apple tech support. Like to ask them if they have a tech note on exactly which files get removed during an install with Logic 7 & Jam Packs already installed.

  • Soundtrack pro individual install?

    question:
i'm running FCP 6.0.4 and i want to keep it that way. problem is, i did not install soundtrack pro when i initially installed the studio package. NOW, i want to install soundtrack pro from the disks but i can't.
it says, it's going to upgrade all these other elements that i don't particularly want upgraded (fcp etc)...they are all greyed out so i can't de-select them.
i'm in the middle of a project so i want to stay with 6.0.4. but does anybody know how i can install soundtrack but keep all my other studio apps where they are...? (or....will the soundtrack install actually 'update' these other elements? it's just not clear what will happen
    thanks

Something's funky, because you should be able to deselect an install of FCP. I can't say how many times I've done that, as well as deselected sound files, Motion Templates, and DVD templates. Somethings not set right.
On the other hand, it makes perfect sense that it downgrades FCP if you do a reinstall. That's what it's being asked to do. But point of fact you want to skip all the installs you don't want. I wonder if the installation log is somehow corrupt?

  • Cant install SOUNDTRACK PRO 3 on logic 9

hi i installed logic 9 a few weeks ago and ive just realised it didn't install SOUNDTRACK PRO 3 when i put the logic studio install dvd in it will only let me skip it and (compressor) any help would be appreciated
    many thanks

I did find an earlier post on this…
[  I spoke with Apple Support. The problem appears to be that Compressor is required to install Soundtrack Pro and Compressor was not installing on my computer. We removed all of the "receipts" in the library and copied them to a backup folder on the desktop. Then, we inserted the Logic Studio install disk and now it allowed me to install both Compressor and SoundTrack Pro (previously the Compressor box was grayed out). Then, I updated the software using Software Update, copied the receipts back into the folder (importantly - you do not replace any duplicate receipts when you copy the files back) and restarted the computer. Now I can launch both Soundtrack Pro and Compressor.
Your mileage may vary and you may wish to have Apple help you along the way but I wanted to let everyone know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • Have Soundtrack Pro, how do I "install" loops to FCPx?

As advised by Apple in 2011 I have FCP7/Studio installed on another startup disk.  I found the Soundtrack Pro audio loops and put them in /Lbrary/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple in the startup disk with FCPx.  When I open up FCPx in the Music & Sound window there are 2 Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro folders!!  Is this a bug?  Or did I do something wrong?  Should I delete the files in the Apple Loops Index, would that fix things?  I like how finally the Apple for Soundtrack Pro folder is no longer greyed out, but I don't like the extra folder there.
Also, why is there 2 Final Cut Pro Sound Effects folders, one of them is greyed out.

I need to get "Soundtrack Pro" inorder to populate the "greyed-out" folders?
Possibly yes. I bought FCP Studio back in 09. STP was one of the suite applications that came with it (it also came with Logic Pro Studio -- as well as ALL the Jam Packs -- so I effectively bought it twice.)  Since Apple put these apps on the App Store (FCPX/Logic), all the extras you *used to get* aren't there anymore. [You can still purchase Logic Studio from Apple's website store.]
I've also dragged in 3rd party loops (from siliconbeats.com [they have quite a few free loops available], etc.)
Also, I really don't know if you even CAN buy STP or the Jam Packs anymore. You can buy Logic Studio and you'll still get STP and all the Jam Pack loops that way... but that's rather expensive for just the loops.
(*Aria*) -- I don't think the empty STP loops folder is a bug. I think it's there for all of the people who owned previous versions of FCP and had STP installed as part of the suite.
PS - sorry it took this long - I got cut off due to maintenance last night...

  • Why my Logic Studio 9 (upgrade) does not install Soundtrack Pro, sound effects etc..?

I just bought Logic Studio 9 (latest I suppose) upgrade version. Now I figured out that it does not allow me to install for example Soundtrack Pro, Sound Effects etc... How can I install them?
Logic Studio 8 was not installed prior to install because OS X Lion does not allow me to install logic studio 8.
What should I do now? Complete uninstall OS X and only update to OS X Leopard?

    Hi
You have either moved the Applications or re-named them. For the updaters to work the Apps must be named "Logic Pro" and "MainStage.

  • Soundtrack Pro requires admin to install error?

Trying to install SoundTrack Pro on a G5 2.0 Powermac running 10.3.9. I get error message saying that I have to be an admin to install the app. I tried installing with two existing admin accounts and it did not work. I then created a new admin account to see if that would allow me to install the app but that didnt work for me either.
    Anyone else encounter this problem?

Sorry, no, but I have seen similar posts for other applications. You might try the Tiger or Panther forums and taking a few minutes to search the archives.
I'll bet that's not the real problem. It's just the error window that the installer is throwing up. First guess is a damaged disk.

  • Installing Soundtrack Pro (v 1.0) on MacBook Pro

    Hello all,
I'd like to use Installing Soundtrack Pro (v 1.0) on my MacBook Pro with OS 10.6.8.
I've used the install disc to install it and got a "Successfully installed" message, and I've used Software Update to find and install updates. But Soundtrack Pro will not open.
By the way, I am the registered owner of this software. It was included with my Final Cut Studio upgrade.
Can anyone tell me, please, should this version of Soundtrack Pro run on this MacBook Pro with this OS? Does Quicktime Pro have to be present prior to opening? Or is this software just not going to run on an Intel Mac?
    Thank you for your help.
    Best,

If you applied all recommended patches from redhat you probably use glibc 2.2-9.
However jre 1.1.8 doesn't work with this version of glibc. Downgrade to glibc 2.1.92-something (the original version supplied with RH7.0) and OUI will work.
    Success.

  • Install Soundtrack Pro without Compressor 2

I've run in to major problems with Compressor 2. I am running Production Studio (FCP4.5, DVDSP3, etc). I purchased the Soundtrack Pro Upgrade and it also added Compressor 2. I have experienced many problems with compressor 2 (I've seen them listed here) and needed to totally rebuild to get back to a working system with Compressor 1. I tried many of the suggestions with little luck. I have not yet installed Soundtrack Pro, as I cannot afford to bring my system to a halt again with Compressor 2. Is there any way to install Soundtrack Pro without Compressor 2? I've been through the install and the documentation, but did not see the option. Anyone know any way to do this?

If you get Charles Srstka's Pacifist, you will be able to install whatever you need to wherever you want... Beware: this is not for the faint of heart - you must know what you're doing!

  • Install final cut pro "skip"

I had a problem installing fcp on a new system (not upgrading) and found that I couldn't select final cut pro itself to install, it's action would read "skip".
    1. Empty trash.
    2. Go to library > receipts and trash anything that's not a folder.
    3. Install fcp.
    4. Select all in trash and put it back to libray receipts, do not replace newer items.

I was having the same issue. Thanks for the tip.
Only issue is that by removing all receipts, the installer wants to re-install the entire suite, so an uninstall is necessary before re-installing. Found an app someone wrote called "FCS Remover" to uninstall. http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcs_remover.htm

  • Installing Soundtrack Pro audio content

Hi. I am about to install the version of Soundtrack Pro that comes w/ Final Cut Studio 2 and would like to install the audio content that comes on the three DVDs onto a secondary internal drive, the same drive where I store my video media files. Now, I also have audio content from Soundtrack v1.5 (that came w/ FCE 3.5) installed on my boot drive. Are all these files duplicated within the new audio content that comes w/ Soundtrack Pro that I am about to install? If not, will I be able to access both libraries of audio content once I have Soundtrack Pro installed, even though the two libraries will reside on different drives? And when I install the new audio content onto the secondary drive, where is the best location to keep the files? On what level of the drive and what should I name the folder? Thanks for your consideration.

Most of the content should be about the same. The big came change between versions two and three. And that change was in the use of Apple CAF files. That stands for compressed audio file, from what I understand.
If you search this forum you'll find that this topic came up several times. This extensive documentation on how to force soundtrack Pro to access sound effects libraries on external drives, or on different directories on your primary hard drive. easy way to deal with it right now is to simply move your existing libraries onto a directory on an external drive. Installed the new files. Then move them where you'd like them. Then tell soundtrack Pro would access everything. If it were me, I would just install the new files and not worry about the old ones. Duplicates will be overwritten and non-duplicates will be preserved. You can then move whatever files you want anywhere you want and then tell soundtrack Pro were to find them.

  • Compressor and Soundtrack Pro not installing even if Final Cut isn't there

    Hello,
I have a problem installing Compressor and Soundtrack Pro that I don't know how to solve.
The "read me" note of the software says, "Warning: Soundtrack Pro 3 and Compressor 3.5 contain updated components that are incompatible with Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier. If the Logic Studio installer detects Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier on your system, it automatically deselects the checkboxes for Soundtrack Pro and Compressor in the Custom Install pane."
Problem is, I've never had Final Cut Studio installed and the installer still deselects Compressor and Soundtrack Pro, and I cannot find a way to install them.
I'm using a new MacBook Pro and everything is up to date on it. I haven't installed much of anything else on this machine either.
    Can anyone help?
