Soundtrack Pro "unexpected problem" no Start anymore

An Unexpected Problem
NSRangeException
Cannot remove an observer <BinModule 0x121f2ab0> for the key path "arrangedObjects" from <NSTreeController 0x12527810> because it is not registered as an observer.
Danke!!

Summary in english:
You see error message above? That's all, what I see, when I want to start Soundtrack Pro 3 since today... You won't get any workspace, but just the error message. Even re-installation does not solve the problem. On the Mac Pro, there is also an installation of Final Cut Pro X, which was updated this week to version 10.04. Might this be the source for all problems...? Anybody any idea? Hopefully, because we really need Soundtrack Pro for an project. Thanks!!

Vielen Dank!!
Uff... Sendung heute Abend gerettet...

  • Soundtrack Pro "Unexpected Problem" Quits

    This is driving me crazy...
Since installing Soundtrack Pro (as part of the Studio 2 upgrade), I've had a persistent problem: If I select any audio file listed in the browser, then move OUT of Soundtrack Pro (in other words, bring another application to the foreground), when I return to Soudtrack I get an error:
    Unexpected Problem
    NSInvalidArgumentException
    * -[AudioSource model]: selector not recognized [self = 0xb378fe0]
... and it only gives me the option to quit, but it doesn't generate a "send problem to Apple" report. I can restart fine, and no other apps seem to be adversely affected.
It's the same every time. If I DON'T have an audio file highlighted, it doesn't error.
    Any Thoughts?

Do you have FxFactory plug-ins installed?  I turned these off by just un-checking them in the FxFactory window that pops up when you double-click the plug-ins, and the errors with Soundtrack went away completely.
    Hope this helps.

  • Soundtrack Pro unexpectedly quit

I recently upgraded to Logic Pro 08. from 07. Just tried to open Soundtrack Pro, but keep getting an error message telling me the application quit unexpectedly. So I went to downloads, and was successful with Logic 8.0.1 update, but when I try to perform the Soundtrack Pro update as per the order of their instructions, I get caught between the two available Pro Apps updates (2007-01 and 2007-02), the earlier one saying I can't download it because I don't need it, and the later one saying I need the first update in order to proceed.
    Does anyone understand my problem?
    Thanks so much.

    You're Welcome.
    1. This one was really relatively simple, about as easy as they get actually and very common for AUs that crash the host.
    Thread 0 Crashed:
    0 <<00000000>> 0x00000000 0 + 0
    1 com.tcelectronic.Fabrik C 0x15977b07 ComponentEntryPoint<GPFAU>::Dispatch(ComponentParameters*, GPFAU*) + 47
First, find the thread that crashed and see why it crashed. Look for clues from there.
The crashed thread in this report was 0. Within that thread there were calls to Fabrik C. So try disabling the culprit and see if it works.
    2. Well, there's not much I can say without much speculation. The apps will likely handle AUs differently. There's a good chance SP would be the most different from the others in the bundle regarding AU hosting. Another thing it could be is the AU cache used by apps. Because of the cache, hosts can store info about an AU and refer to it when launching. What it boils down to is apps will do some checks, such as:
Has the AU's version updated since the cache last updated?
Should the host bother to load it? (i.e. user requested it not to load)
    Did it pass validation?
Other pieces of info, perhaps supported channel layouts and on and on.
This way, the host can launch faster/safely. If no update is detected and it passed validation, it will assume it still passes and plays nicely.
Sometimes the cache is wrong - for various reasons, i.e. if an update crept through. It rarely happens. You may want to clear SP's cache if you really like this plugin, then it will be forced to update the cache. Maybe an update did slip by? I'm already far enough into speculation realm...

  • URGENT-  I need help: Soundtrack Pro Freezing Problem!!

I just sent my FCP project to a multitrack project in Soundtrack Pro, but when i want to work on the Soundtrack Pro project, everything keeps freezing. its dead slow!
i can barely do anything with it!
whats the problem? and how can i solve it?

Couple of possibilities. One, your media files are huge. STP reference the entire media of a clip edited in FCP . . . not just the edited portion. That can result in some large files being brought over. Also, when you send a clip over, use the base layer option if you can, or export an mp4 to bring in to STP.
If you're ready to do the post audio work on a finished FCP project, export an omf file. Close FCP, then open the omf file in STP. That can help.
Other "obvious" but still good to review considerations . . . have enough RAM? Is there enough disk space? Are you using a different media drive than where the system is located?

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 10 does not start anymore

This happened to me three times now. One time Adobe Acrobat Pro 10 is working properly for weeks. It crashes once and after that it does not start anymore without providing a message or clue.
What I used to do is remove CS6 completely and reinstall it. But this is tedious. Just uninstalling Acrobat Pro and reinstalling it doesn't do the trick.
My guess is that a setting is stopping Acrobat Pro from starting. Is it possible to reset Acrobat Pro settings to the factory default? I've already remove the folders under
    %LOCALAPPDATA% \adobe\acrobat and
    %APPDATA% \adobe\acrobat
    but this doesn't help.

Ok. This occasion I had a bit of time on my hand and found a solution yuhu!
Make sure you have access to you license key as you have to enter it new after this procedure
    1) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache
    2) Delete or rename the file cache.db
    3) Open Acrobat Pro, you will be asked to license the software again under your Adobe-ID again.
    4) If asked to connect to your Adobe-ID and re-enter the license key.
Now Acrobat Pro is working (as are all the other CS6 applications.

  • Soundtrack Pro / Flash problems

Since installing Soundtrack Pro, I have had problems with Macromedia Flash.
I installed Soundtrack Pro yesterday and imported MP3 voice-over files for correction & improvement and saved them as .aiff files for import into a Flash .FLA file on my MacBook Pro.
On importing the files, Flash began to behave strangely - notably, impossible to play the .FLA file to check it (file works OK when published to an .SWF file). Also, Flash refuses to import .WAV files created in Soundtrack Pro.
However, Flash works OK on a G4, where I have not installed Sountrack.
I have tried repairing permissions / deleting the Flash preferences file / reinstalling Flash... but these have no effect.
I would be grateful for any help/suggestions.
    Best regards,
    Garry

Thanks for the reply. I discovered what the stuttering problem in Soundterack was myself, by running around the Internet doing searches. It turns out that these G5 quad-core Macs have a defect in their optical ports on the back of the case. Light leaks in there and causes problems in Soundtrack. It can be cured by plugging both ends of a toslink cable into the ports, to prevent light from getting in there. One of these little cables only costs a few dollars on Amazon.com. I bought one and plugged it in, and the problem disappeared. Soundtrack now works smoothly.
It's too bad that programs such as Final Cut 7 and Soundtrack were simply abandoned by Apple, and declared obsolete and irrelevant, because they can still do excellent work. I have another, Intel Mac with the latest (as of last summer) Adobe suite on it, including Adobe Premiere, and yet I can do many things better in Final Cut than I can in Premiere (for one thing, Premiere can only open one project at at time. On my current video project in Final Cut 6, I have three projects open at the same time and am moving clips between them easily). However, now that Adobe has moved to rental versions of their software, my copy of Premiere is also obsolete, and gets no updates or improvements, just like Final Cut 7.
So I'm making my videos on my obsolete Mac G5 using obsolete software, Final Cut 6 and Soundtrack. I guess I'll remain a defiant holdout for as long as I can.

  • Soundtrack Pro still crashes on start (new error)

Ok, I had the trouble because of iWork11 and Logic Pro 9 that Compressor was not istalled and because of that Soundtrack Pro crashed.....
Now I installed Compressor and Soundtrack pro comes along with another Error:
    Dyld Error Message:

      Referenced from: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/BrowserKit.framework/Versions/A/BrowserKit
      Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/AppKit
I already did the digital rebellion thing with getting the browserkit.framework from the install DVD but no change.....
    any suggestions?

I had your original problem and called tech support.  (Missing ProFX file).  They sent me to reinstall compressor using this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3580?viewlocale=en_US
I didn't have your second problem though.  If you have a serial number and support ID, I found the guys at Apple to be helpful.  They're regular number 1-800-275-2273 then say, "Logic," to get right to the audio people.  I don't know if this helps.

  • Soundtrack Pro crashes immediately after start

Having looked at the '/Library/....' content the Library, which should be loaded, is indeed not there.
I have already tried to re-install the whole Logic Studio and also re-checked the HD permissions - unfortunately with no further success.
    Can someone help please?
    Thanks.

I am happy to confirm that everything works now.
I have re-installed both Leopard and subsequently the whole Logic Studio, which resolved the issue. Obviously, something on the OS level blocked creating of the STP data structure. The 're-installation fun' took about 5 hours, but the result is worth it.
    Good Luck.

  • FCP and soundtrack pro roundtrip problem?

Hello I am working on a video in the latest Final Cut Pro and software. I need to take out the hum of the audio, but when I send the audio file to Soundtrack Pro and take out the hum and then save it, the audio goes offline when I go back to FCP and it says something like the attributes no longer match or something. What am I doing wrong? Is there specific ways I need to do this? When you send to soundtrack pro it asks if you want to send only referenced media. I tried both way but no go.
    Any ideas?
    thanks!

Interesting question - We don't use attorneys - too expensive, and we never listen to 'em anyway, so the info didn't come from a lawyer, ha ha. But I've seen several examples of music cue sheets, and they all contain the same information, including composer, publisher, society, timing, etc. (After all, that's the purpose of the cue sheet - to see that the artists and producers get paid for their work). You can find one format at:
    www.ascap.com/musicbiz/cuesheetcorner/pdf/SampleCue
Of course, if the example comes from ASCAP (as that one does) or another society (BMI, others), they are working to make their job easier, but they are the societies - they are the ones who can object if they don't like it. And they have substantial power to penalize a producer for not doing what they want. But here's the thing: there's huge tradition in Hollywood, and the rule is (and the contracts say) that if you don't provide everything on the distributor's list of deliverables, they hold your money until you do - and one of the things on the list of deliverables is a music cue sheet, and every example I've ever seen (and I've seen at least 20) asks for the same information. So that's the answer as to "who told you that?" Is is possible that I'm being led down the garden path by ASCAP and the movie industry in general? Sure, but every source I consult agrees that this is the reality. I wish I could avoid it, but as I understand the situation, I have to do it, and it has to contain the info, or we'll never see our dough, ha ha. But my question remains the same - how do I get that info for the "royalty-free" music library attached to FCP?

  • Soundtrack Pro recording problems

I have soundtrack 2.0.2. Everything was fine until I downloaded and installed "ProKit" from Software Update yesterday (2-6-08). Now when I try to record, it stops recording on its own after only a second or two....sometimes it only records a few frames. I am running leopard, but soundtrack was working fine until the update. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks in advance.

i also use STP 2.0.2. i have not done any recording up until now and i am frustrated by the same issues reported below. I will start to record audio and after approximately a second the audio record stops. I also use a macbook pro 2.4 and recording is not a problem. not having any more information than below and my experience with the intel laptop i would speculate it may be a PPC issue. any ideas would be very helpful. thanks

  • Since I made updates of software in mavericks macbook pro 1260 does not start anymore

    Hi
On my macbook pro A1260 2008, under Mavericks, I downloaded 3 upgrades: Itunes, Ibooks and a security upgrade of 100 Mo. After installation I have been asked to restart the computer in order for the updates to take effect, so did I.... But the macbook pro never started again:  no chime, only dvd player noise, HDD, and Fans.
Could you help me to get out of that mess?
    Thank you
    C.B

There are a few different startup tricks you can use including safe mode and single user mode. I can never remember what the commands are so try to search for "mac startup commands" to be sure you're doing them correctly. They usually involve holding down the shift key, the R key, the option key or a combination.
Do you have a buddy who can help you build a bootable USB drive? The process is simple and is described on the Apple Knowledge Base article library. There are also some free apps that will do it for you.
Unlikely, but when you exhaust all other attempts, you may be looking at a total erasure of the system so I hope you have a backup.

  • My version of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended does not start anymore.  I am reinstalling.  I don't have my product code.  Will it ask me for that code or will it take it from the previous copy?

How do I find my old 'license key'?

You can also follow http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html#adobeproductdownload to try to recover your S/N. There are other ways for your existing installation too.

  • Soundtrack Pro crashes on launch.  New OS 10.6.6 update?

    Hey all,
I just installed Logic Studio yesterday and updated to OS 10.6.6 today. Soundtrack Pro is crashing on start. Are these two issues related? Is anyone else having this problem?
The error report tells me this:
    Dyld Error Message:
    Library not loaded: /Library/Application Support/ProApps/SharedA/Frameworks/ProFX.framework/Versions/A/ProFX
    Referenced from: /Applications/Soundtrack Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Soundtrack Pro
    Reason: image not found
    Other details I have:
My Soundtrack Pro version is3.0.1. The only other audio apps I have are GarageBand '11 and Amadeus Pro.
I have restarted the computer, and I have repaired disk permissions.
    Thanks in advance,
    David

Ok, here's an update on my attempt. nolanscott, you state:
    +reinstalling the old ProKit.framework 5.1 from TimeMachine again,+
    +Soundtrack 1.5 opens again...+
    +(HD / System / Library / PrivateFrameworks / ProKit.framework)+
I'm using Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1, and I don't find a "PrivateFrameworks" folder. But I did dig into a Mac Pro that has Final Cut Studio and did find what this iMac seems to be missing. But wow, not sure exactly how huge this is, but the ProApps directory on the iMac only has:
    --Bundles [directory]
    --Internal Plug-Ins [directory]
    --Logic Studio System ID
    --ProAppsSystemID
While the Mac Pro which has Final Cut Studio (admittedly no Logic Studio) has much more robust contents!:
    --Bundles [directory]
    --Final Cut Studio System ID
    --Internal Plug-Ins [directory]
    --MIO [directory]
    -- ProAppsSystemID
    -- SharedA [directory]
So, in the original error message I got, the entire ShareA folder doesn't even exist. The ShareA folder has 3000+ items in it. I've copied it on the corresponding location on the iMac (Volumes/Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/ProApps/)... and SoundTrack Pro still fails. This time the relevant message is:
    +Dyld Error Message:+
    +Library not loaded: /Library/Frameworks/ProMetadataSupport.framework/Versions/A/ProMetadataSupport+
    +Referenced from: /Applications/Soundtrack Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/Soundtrack Pro+
    +Reason: image not found+
Again, comparing the two computers, inside of the iMac to the Mac Pro, the ProMetadataSupport.framework folder is absent from the iMac. I copy that folder over from the Mac Pro and...
    BINGO. We have launch.
Now, the one thing about doing this is, that I assume I'm not the only Soundtrack Pro'er out there who is having this problem. I don't know what this will do when Apple releases and update for this. Will my fix cause new problems that conflict with Apples? Or did this in fact having nothing to do with updating to 10.6.6 and stem from something else I did? All I did was install Logic Studio, and run System Update. Didn't launch Soundtrack until after I had updated to 10.6.6, so don't know if the problem is connected to that...
Thanks nolanscott for inspiring my research!

  • Soundtrack Pro errors/crashes galore

    Hey
I'm having a lot of trouble to make a final mix of a little sideproject using Soundtrack Pro.
If I try to open my omf (which opens just fine in Logic according to a friend) then I get the following error:
    An Unexpected Problem
    CNSExceptionWrapper
type = 16777216, error = 1886547263, message = error: Failed to open or create audio file for writing.
My first idea was to make a new omf, but that didn't change a thing.
The second solution was to use the Send to function from Final Cut Pro (as I did the video-editing on the same station).
But when I use the Send to-function then Soundtrack Pro freezes while drawing the waveforms.
    (or so it seems)
Anybody has any idea what might be the problem but above all a possible solution?
    Thanks in advance.
(PS the project is about 40min with 12 audio track, so not that special)

My friend, I've had nothing less than heartache using this application. I'm currently speaking with the Applecare pro support people who aren't even able to keep track of the Soundtrack Pro crashing problem that I've been having (Case ID #17591223)
I can't use the application more than 5 minutes before it crashes. It stops responding to everything, the color wheel shows, then it blanks out to the desktop on its own. It then produces a crash report which several I've sent to apple.
The Applecare Pro support reps which you call and speak to for help with Soundtrack Pro are lazy, have bad attitudes, and seem nearly incompetent. I was promised a callback from one of their reps stating he would research my crash log(s) on 9/21/10 and I never heard back from him. I had to call in again and spoke to another rep in the (tier 2 support) who stated he would then take ownership. I'm hoping that I'll get a callback from the rep.
This AppleCare support is garbage and I forbid you to pay for it as the service is HORRIBLE, along with the application (Soundtrack Pro.)
My project is on a portable firewire drive and I've got 4GB of ram. The application is almost unusable. The rep that I spoke to informed me that he himself does not think highly of Soundtrack Pro and uses Logic instead. I told him I didn't have $500+ sitting around to buy anything more.
DO NOT waste your money on additional ram as it does NOT matter. The program is buggy garbage and the tech support for it is also garbage.
