Soundtrack Pro with 4 CPU's

Hi,
will Soundtrack Pro use all 4 CPU's during Analyse for example.

Does Final Cut Studio run on the new Intel-based Mac computers?
A Universal version of Final Cut Studio is now available. Universal applications are designed to run natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Mac computers. All owners of Final Cut Studio are eligible for a crossgrade to the Universal version for $49. (Note: The previous version of Final Cut Studio is not supported on Intel-based Macs.)

  • Soundtrack Pro with Final Cut Express

I've been using Final Cut Express HD for a little while with the version of Soundtrack that came with it. I'm now going to upgrade to Logic Studio and I'm wondering if Soundtrack Pro will work with FCE the same way. In all the documentation I've read thru, they only talk about Soundtrack Pro working with FCP. Anyone know?

There is no round tripping from FCE to Soundtrack Pro.

  • Soundtrack Pro, with Logic Studio. app will not work, while Garage Band is present on my iMac?

Still new to Logic Pro. Got the Soundtrack Pro when i bought the Logic Studio. am i to understand that this app will not work, while Garage Band is present on my iMac?
if this is true, i'd welcome any suggestions.  do i have to delete GarageBand on current machine which has Logic Pro?
    appreciate any help
    thanks,

My MacPro w/ OSX 10.6.8 runs GarageBand, SoundtrackPro and Logic 9 (Express) without issues.
Everything was installed fresh - ie no overwrite OS upgrades and no app version overwrite upgrades.
Just so we are clear - an UPGRADE would be from OSX 5 to 6 or from Logic 8 to 9 and involves a purchase. UPDATES are those decimal increments - 10.6.7 to 10.6.8  or Logic 9.1.3 to 9.1.6 that are free.
Sometimes the sequence of installs can make a difference.
    Good luck,
    x

  • Soundtrack Pro with Blackmagic Intensity Pro Card

    Hi
Just wondering if anyone was using STP with the Blackmagic Intensity Pro card to monitor video on a TV?
If so, whta are your experiences and especially does STP allow you to continue using your selected audio device (MOTU Ultralite over Firewire for me) while viewing your Quicktimes on the TV.
    Thanks in advance

    Hey Bill
Thanks for getting back so quick! No, I've checked the audio/midi and the default audio device is my MOTU Ultralite firewire interface - even when the default output is set to the mac's internal speaker, once you select the external video it mutes the output.
I can still see levels withing STP as if the audio is playing. There is an official Apple Support document about audio not working when you are using external video to firewire and it says that it is a bug that can be bypassed by setting your bus to surround (1-6) instead of stereo (1-2) but this has no effect for me )-:
Would love to know if it works for you! and if so, what way you have things configured
    Thanks

  • Move Soundtrack Pro Playhead with Applescript?

I've opened an audio file in Soundtrack Pro with Applescript and would like to move the playhead to the end of the file to insert silence. Seems simple but I've struggled a lot. How might I do this?
Unlike Microsoft Word, Excel etc. there is relatively little discussion out there on Soundtrack Pro with Applescript. I'd love to just utilize terms from the Soundtrack Pro Applescript dictionary, but the truth is that I'm incapable of using the dictionary effectively. Just like the English language, if you don't know how to put the words together, the dictionary doesn't help you make a sentence; any advice on where/how to learn to put Applescript dictionary terms to use?
    I read an entire beginner's book ("A Beginner's Guide: Applescript") but it didn't discuss dictionaries : (.
Thank you so much for your help!

  • Soundtrack Pro?

Recently there's been a lot of talking on the web about the future of Apple's (pro) video and audio applications.   Adobe has some aggressive deals for people switching to Premiere Pro or the Creative Suite (which as you know now includes Audition).   There's also great tutorials and technical documents for switching to Premiere Pro as well.  However, the audio love gets drowned out by all the other stuff.
So I wanted to focus just on audio and talk about Soundtrack Pro.   If any of you are/were fans of Soundtrack Pro.   I invite you to download and try out the following files.   I noticed on Twitter that there was some speculation about "STP was rolled into FCPX" or "STP functionality will be rolled into Logic" and so forth.   Now you can roll STP into Audition which is here to stay. We're already actively working on the next version to address some of the most common requests.  You can also get a feel for where our larger pro video and audio business is going, but note that we on the Audition team have some very audio-centric plans as well to more directly address your needs.
    File
    Info
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/4.0ApplicationSettings.xml
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/4.0/AppPrefs.xml
Color Scheme and some preferences here and there that are close to Soundtrack Pro's
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/4.0/Shortcuts/Soundtrack Pro 3.xml
Soundtrack Pro Keyboard Shortcuts added or changed from Soundtrack Pro 3 User Manual
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/4.0/Workspace/Saved Workspaces/UserWorkspace2.xml
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/4.0/Workspace/Archived Workspaces/UserWorkspace2.xml
Workspace layout that is somewhat similar to Soundtrack Pro's default layout.
Just copy the attached files to the location shown above.   Note that you may want to backup your previous preferences folder (~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/4.0) in case you'd like to switch back.   I just context-clicked on the folder in Finder and chose "Duplicate" to back up mine.

    Okay, now for Part 2...
To use the impulse responses that are installed with Soundtrack Pro with the convolution reverbs in Audition...
    Step
    Details
Locate the impulse responses on your system drive (/Library/Audio/Impulse Responses/Apple/
Select the files you'd like to use and rename the .SDIR extension to .AIFF (they're really AIFF files with some extra proprietary metadata that the Apple apps use).  A batch rename operation can easily be scripted.
Fire up your STP-skinned version of Audition (see above) and open a file.
    Add the Convolution Reverb effect
Click on the [ Load... ] button to locate your renamed SDIR --> AIFF impulse file
And that's all it takes.  You should be able to use their surround impulses with our Surround Reverb which acts in a similar way to the "Convolution Reverb" effect.  However, I haven't looked at that in a while and can't remember if the channels get mapped correctly.  You can even save Presets for your favorite custom impulses.

  • Can I save ALL effects on a Soundtrack Pro clip at once, for reuse w/ FCP?

i am using soundtrack pro with fcp for the first time. i have several different clips which need the same group of effects (the same sound-tweaking) placed on each separate clip so that that the overall sound of this one scene (composed of many clips) remains the same once its treated. how can i do this? is there a way to save ALL of the effects on a given soundtrack clip and then apply these instantly to the rest of the same scene's clips? in other words, can i avoid having to add many (6, for example) separate custom setting to each separate video clip within a particular scene?
    thanks,
    marc

    jim,
i fiddled with the scripting function for a few hours, following the instructions within soundtrack's "help" files. i was able to save a script, but once i'm in fcp, i control click on a given file, click "send to...script" then highlight my saved script. always, a dialog box comes up asking if i really want to continue, as it will "destroy" the file. sure enough it does destroy the file, turning the audio into a bunch of very high pitch bleep sounds. so i'm confounded, and, frankly, stupified.
doug, i'm also stupified with lift and stamp. i can get the sound "palette" opened, but the "save as preset" button is grayed out, making the feature impossible to use.
perhaps i should place these new problems on a new post but i thought i'd reply here first for what it's worth. i thank you both for your inputs. in theory, either one of these options would be ideal, but i've spent about 3 hours and can't get either to work properly....

  • Fat EQ in Soundtrack Pro does not export the mix!!!!

I am very frustrated. I have been trying to export a mix from Soundtrack Pro with a preset using the Fat EQ. How complicated can this be?????
I export to FCP6 as a AIFF file. How complicated can this be????? This software has a flaw. It will not turn my sound file from FCP which I import into STP. It works fine in STP but then will not convert into an AIFF by the time it gets to FCP/Desktop. All I get is a blank sound file. Not happy with this software so far. FCP6 seems fine. What the heck is going on here???
I am limited as to what I can mix in FCP6 with the audio tools. I thought STP could be helpful, but it is driving me up the wall!!!!!!
Please someone help me export my file some way so I can use the EQ's and mixers in STP like it is designed to do.
    Frustrated with STP.
    Rory

Yes, just a stereo file. STP version 2.0. Final Cut Pro 6. One of the filters worked once in STP 2.0, then it does not, it seems very finicky.
I am sending my audio files from the timeline to STP for audio editing. Then I apply the EQ once the project is in the main page of STP. Everything is good here, the EQ applied works, everything works just fine.
I then go to File >Export > Save As .... and then export it as a AIFF file. This is where something happens. It seems my fat EQ is working in STP, and then after it is exported back to FCP 6 there is nothing, nothing. There is an audio file, just no data at all, no sound waves.
The Autofilter seems to work when it is applied. It worked for the first 2 times anyway and then did the same as above. I am going to just edit audio at an external independent studio I think. I can't be bothered trying to figure this out for the duration of the project. It is too time consuming.

  • Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1: stereo level meters in the Meters tab? How?

I'm using Soundtrack Pro with an M-Audio Firewire 410 to do a live stereo recording. I've created a new audio file project, and I've only got two tracks in the project (left and right channels), but for some reason the Meters tab insists on displaying a 6-channel meter view, instead of stereo meters.
Page 49 of the Soundtrack Pro 2 user's manual specifically mentions a 2-channel (stereo) meter view (and even includes a screenshot), but I can't figure out how to get this view in my project.
What am I missing here? Or is this a bug?
    Thanks!
    Scott

I just went through this and it appears that my Focusrite Saffire was the culprit. I connected all the outputs on the focusrite according to the way the jacsk on the back were labeled and then set up the multichannel speaker setup to match. Then I went into STP, created a pink noise clip and panned it around, the LFE, center and rears were not in the right place.
I reconnected the hardware to match the 5.1 pan pot in STP then changed the multichannel speaker setup to match. Everything appears to be correct now but I would have loved to have been able to just assigned the output busses to correct outputs in the saffire.
Next step is to pan that pink noise around with my SPL meter to calibrate the room.

  • Final Cut Pro Soundtrack Pro - Project linking issue

    hi hello there,
I've completed an edit in final cut. I click on the project and send it to soundtrack pro (multi track project)
I follow the instructions (send with baseline video ref)
Final Cut works it's magic and up pops Soundtrack Pro with the sequenced timeline and the video ref.
I make all my changes and save.
Flip back to final cut and nothing.
    nothing!
No updated audio. no additional timelines. just the same project file i started with in Final Cut.
So now i have to export a self contained edit of the audio and import it to Final Cut to get the job out on time.
No ideal as i've got to make changes to the cut.
    Any ideas?
I'd really appreciate it if anyone knows and can let me know.
I had the same problem with Colour. Did the corrections. sent back to Final Cut and nothing. That was for a previous job which ended up going really tits up because of it. I've not used Colour since.
    any ideas?
    thank you thank you
    Nick
System: Final Cut Studio 2 and 10.5 fully updated to latest versions/patches/additions

Sounds to me like you need to perform a clean install... i.e. erase and install of OS, and reinstall it all from the ground up.
If you've not done this (especially when you upgraded to Leopard) it's time.

  • Soundtrack Pro Plugins in Logic Express

I own Logic Express and Soundtrack Pro, i was wondering whether it's possible to somehow use the plugins such as Space Designer and Match EQ from Soundtrack Pro with Logic Express.
    Thanks for your help...

    Well thats dissapointing...
I'm guessing that they are built in to the program rather than audio units floating about it a folder somewhere then.

  • Does soundtrack come with Logic Pro?

I recently purchased Logic from the app store.  I have been reading up on tutorials and it made mention of Soundtrack Pro which is supposed to be bundled with the software.  Where do I download this?  Is this not a full version of Logic?

Soundforge mac is missing a ton of features from the PC version.  I'm going to wait but it may be OK for some people's needs now.
STP was abandoned a couple years ago then finally officially dropped.  It's not too bad for people who already have it, but I wouldn't want to start out with it now.

  • TS2510 problem with soundtrack pro v2.0.2 under snow leopard

Hi, I've just upgraded my mac book to snow leopard and now when I try to record something with soundtrack pro v2.0.2 through the line input jack, the internal microphone is still switched on and none of the preferences allow me to switch to the input jack,ks
Does anyone know whether STP v2.0.2 will run ok under snow leopard? If I need to upgrade the drivers, does anyone know where I can find these and how to instal them.
    Many thanks.

    There are no "drivers".
Use Audio MIDI Setup to set your audio input.
    Good luck.

  • What's wrong with Logic and Soundtrack Pro

Just spent a frustrating day trying to record with Soundtrack Pro and Logic
Soundtrack is working on and off
    Problems:
    1. Even if sounds are loaded in the multitrack editor, no sound when playing. Only the Solo (S) button make a track sound. No idea what's wrong?
    2. Trying to record directly into a multitrack sometimes works, and sometimes not.
    3. When making another attempt to record, the noise of death appeared (same as the long thread on Logic.
Finally I just recorded in Amadeus Pro. At least that software works. It just crazy. Look I accept there is a learning curve but this s just crazy
Apple is becoming an arrogant company that is becoming more interested in creating gadgets that providing tools that work
    Sorry for the rant

That said, Logic is the most used software in project studios. Mixing engineers like ProTools better. But the two have way more market share than anything else.
    Hey Ben,
Sorry to bump your fanboy applecart... (don't mean that as derogatory as it may sound, I liked the play on words)
From everything that's happening here and the west coast (USA) many of the Logic users I know have switched to other software, the two Logic studios here have gone to ProTools mainly because Logic version 8 was so unstable, there are no more Logic studios here. The studio with the most business uses a Radar system, the second busiest studio is running Sonar. There is a fellow with a mobile system using a MBP and Logic but he uses version 7.
The University here took bids 3 years ago and opted for PC/Nuendo/RME setups.
So yes, Logic may indeed have the most project studio percentage but since every jerk can download it for free what is the quality coming out of these project studios? My point is, for professionals, Logic is becoming less and less of an option, most everyone that used it professionally has been disappointed in Apples support of the product, a long time between upgrades and except for user boards like this... literally zero professional support. You know there's problems when you call up Apple and know far more about Logic than the support staff. It seems like both of those are starting to improve but I think it's a little too late. Also... there's still the "blast of white noise" problem that hasn't been addressed, no professional studio can take that kind of chance.
Apple is using Logic to sell hardware, smart business, absolutely. However, cutting the price in half, removing the copy protection and throwing in the kitchen sink plus seemingly not giving a d@mn that the program is pirated leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
