Source and Original Object

In our application, we are using both mergeXXX() and uow register api in different scenarios. I find that while using uow.register, in aboutToUpdate(), getSource() returns the updated object while in the case of former, getOriginalObject() returns the updated object. Is this how it works, or is anything wrong?

The source of the aboutToUpdate event in the UnitOfWork clone, and should contain the changes and does reflect what will be committed to the database. getOriginalObject() should normally not be used from the aboutToUpdate event as the transaction has not yet been committed and the original should not be changed. In your mergeXXX case it seems that the object being merged was not in the shared cache, so the merge clone was used as a placeholder for the original.
If you are not seeing the object being committed correctly to the database, you may be having issues in your mergeXXX.

  • Download and Upload(!) ABAP-Source and DDIC-Objects?

    Hi,
is there a standard transaction or third party tool
to download and upload(!!) ABAP-Source (function modules,
function groups, module pools, reports...) and DDIC-Objects
(tables, structures, data elements) to a local file system?
In terms of uploading these objects it would be desirable
that the transaction/tool creates packages/development classes/.. on its own.
I would need that to copy the same source and ddic-objcets to different customer systems without doing it "manually" everytime.
    Does anyone know advice?

  • Text data source and Info object?

Hi I have created Texts data source in R/3 and our onsite folks have asked me to create relavant info objects in BW as well.I need to validate against the data source created in R/ 3for use short med or long text all should support mulilang. Can any body please explain how can I proceed with this ?
    Points will be definitley assigned.
    Thanks,
    Hari.

It is the other way. Once u tick in the master data tab -what kind of text u want-short,long,medium-then that will appear in your transformation. And u can map any char field from ur data source for these based on the length.
So u can check the datasource definition in rsa2 and determine the length of text field in which ur text data will data.
Based on that select in teh info object, then u will get that to map in transformation.
    Hope it helps

I set the LMDB-Object-Server-Name to its original Name...

'Source and target system have the same object server name: CISM318'
But the names are different: 'SM3' (LMDB) and 'CISM318' (SLD)
    Any suggestions ?

After I had created an array of duplicates for the original drawing object, I found that once the original object is modified, all its copies are changed automatically afterwards.
Is it possible to break the association between the original object and is transformation copies, so that subsequent editing can be made on each individual copy?

  • Dbms_lob.getlength() returns different source and destination lengths

I am fairly new to PL/SQL so maybe this is an obvious problem but here goes. I am updating a clob field with a text file ~5KB in size. The field updates fine (as far as I can tell). Before I update the field, I open the source file as a bfile and then inquire the length using dbms_lob.getlength(). I then update the clob field using dbms_lob.loadclobfromfile(). This seems to work fine. However, when I use dbms_lob.getlength() on the destination object returned by dbms_lob.loadclobfromfile(), I get a length 3 characters less than then the source object (5072 vs 5075). Both the source and destination offsets are set to 1.
Probing on what documentation I could find, I found this at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28419/d_lob.htm#i998484:
"The length returned for a BFILE includes the EOF, if it exists. Any 0-byte or space filler in the LOB caused by previous ERASE or WRITE operations is also included in the length count. The length of an empty internal LOB is 0."
I did not create the source file and I believe it is a Unix type file (because of the lack of CRs) and I am running on Windows 7. I am also using 11g Express. Could the use of a Unix-type file for a CLOB on a Windows system be causing this character count difference?
Once I found this issue I can work around it. I just want to understand what is going on.
Thanks to all who look at this.

The EOF and the LF versus CR/LF could influence the count difference, yes.
Another explain could possibly be character set conversions. The BFILE I believe counts bytes, a CLOB would count "characters" - so if the source happens to contain a few multibyte characters (UTF), then the byte count would be larger than the character count.
To help you find the cause for your exact file, then I can suggest a couple of things you might do to explore the issue:
<li>Load the file into a BLOB instead of a CLOB and see what getlength() returns for the BLOB. BLOBs would also do byte counts and not try to treat the source as text.
<li>Save the CLOB back into the filesystem and compare the original file with the exported CLOB and check the differences with some filecompare tool.

  • Is it possible to create informatica visio template for sales force soruce and target objects.

Hello Anmol, I have a similar requirement where I need mass generation of mappings using Salesforce Objects as a source. As per your instruction, I used cloud version of Mapping Architect of Vision and create a template with normal source and target and Application Source Qualifier. I also mentioned Salesforce as the database type. However, when importing into Informatica PowerCenter Designer, it shows all other sources except for Salesforce sources. Can you please help me out. RegardsManish

Hi Munisekhar, Yes it is possible. In most cases it will be easier to create such a template directly in Visio.  If you need to get the mapping from PowerCenter into Visio, make a copy of the original mapping and replace the Source, Target and ASQ (Application Source Qualifier that you link the source to) with a relational or a flat file source, target and SQ respectively. Then import it in Visio. Make sure to change the source, target and SQ again back to Salesforce specific objects. So when you import such a copy (that used relational or file objects) in Visio, do the following:1. Edit the source definition and change the Database Type to Salesforce2. Edit the target definition and change the Database Type to Salesforce3. Remove the object SQ (linked from source)4. Drag the ASQ object icon from the Informatica stencil and link it the same way the SQ was linked earlier. That should validate and work fine. Let me know if you still face any issues. Note: You might already be aware of this, but you use the standard SQ  transform/object when you use a relational or flat file source, and use  an ASQ transform/object when you use application sources like  Salesforce. While doing this, make sure to retain your original mapping in PowerCenter so you can start from that again if you need to. Thanks and regards,Amol

    Hi Frank,
I m trying to save entity and view object xml by calling writeXMLContents() and saveXMLContents() so that these objects can be retrieved using the xmls later on.
These methods internally use MDS configuration in adf-config.xml, which is creating the issue.
Please share your thoughts on resolving this or if, there is any other way of creating dynamic entity/view objects for db tables created at runtime.

  • Difference b/w DATA TYPE and DATA OBJECT & differences b/w TYPE and LIKE

    hai
can any one say the differences between Data type and Data Object.
And also differences between TYPE and LIKE
    thanks
    Gani

    hi,
    _Data Types and Data Objects_
Programs work with local program data – that is, with byte sequences in the working memory. Byte sequences that belong together are called fields and are characterized by a length, an identity (name), and – as a further attribute – by a data type. All programming languages have a concept that describes how the contents of a field are interpreted according to the data type.
In the ABAP type concept, fields are called data objects. Each data object is thus an instance of an abstract data type. There are separate name spaces for data objects and data types. This means that a name can be the name of a data object as well as the name of a data type simultaneously.
    Data Types
As well as occurring as attributes of a data object, data types can also be defined independently. You can then use them later on in conjunction with a data object. The definition of a user-defined data type is based on a set of predefined elementary data types. You can define data types either locally in the declaration part of a program using the TYPESstatement) or globally in the ABAP Dictionary. You can use your own data types to declare data objects or to check the types of parameters in generic operations.
All programming languages distinguish between various types of data with various uses, such as ….. type data for storing or displaying values and numerical data for calculations. The attributes in question are described using data types. You can define, for example, how data is stored in the repository, and how the ABAP statements work with the data.
Data types can be divided into elementary, reference, and complex types.
    a. Elementary Types
These are data types of fixed or variable length that are not made up of other types.
The difference between variable length data types and fixed length data types is that the length and the memory space required by data objects of variable length data types can change dynamically during runtime, and that these data types cannot be defined irreversibly while the data object is being declared.
Predefined and User-Defined Elementary Data Types
You can also define your own elementary data types in ABAP using the TYPES statement. You base these on the predefined data types. This determines all of the technical attributes of the new data type. For example, you could define a data type P_2 with two decimal places, based on the predefined data type P. You could then use this new type in your data declarations.
    b.  Reference Types
Reference types are deep data types that describe reference variables, that is, data objects that contain references. A reference variable can be defined as a component of a complex data object such as a structure or internal table as well as a single field.
    c. Complex Data Types
Complex data types are made up of other data types. A distinction is made here between structured types and table types.
    Data Objects
Data objects are the physical units with which ABAP statements work at runtime. The contents of a data object occupy memory space in the program. ABAP statements access these contents by addressing the name of the data object and interpret them according to the data type.. For example, statements can write the contents of data objects in lists or in the database, they can pass them to and receive them from routines, they can change them by assigning new values, and they can compare them in logical expressions.
Each ABAP data object has a set of technical attributes, which are fully defined at all times when an ABAP program is running (field length, number of decimal places, and data type). You declare data objects either statically in the declaration part of an ABAP program (the most important statement for this is DATA), or dynamically at runtime (for example, when you call procedures). As well as fields in the memory area of the program, the program also treats literals like data objects.
A data object is a part of the repository whose content can be addressed and interpreted by the program. All data objects must be declared in the ABAP program and are not persistent, meaning that they only exist while the program is being executed. Before you can process persistent data (such as data from a database table or from a sequential file), you must read it into data objects first. Conversely, if you want to retain the contents of a data object beyond the end of the program, you must save it in a persistent form.
    Declaring Data Objects
Apart from the interface parameters of procedures, you declare all of the data objects in an ABAP program or procedure in its declaration part. These declarative statements establish the data type of the object, along with any missing technical attributes. This takes place before the program is actually executed. The technical attributes can then be queried while the program is running.
The interface parameters of procedures are generated as local data objects, but only when the procedure is actually called. You can define the technical attributes of the interface parameters in the procedure itself. If you do not, they adopt the attributes of the parameters from which they receive their values.
ABAP contains the following kinds of data objects:
    a.  Literals
Literals are not created by declarative statements. Instead, they exist in the program source code. Like all data objects, they have fixed technical attributes (field length, number of decimal places, data type), but no name. They are therefore referred to as unnamed data objects.
    b.  Named Data Objects
Data objects that have a name that you can use to address the ABAP program are known as named objects. These can be objects of various types, including text symbols, variables and constants.
Text symbols are pointers to texts in the text pool of the ABAP program. When the program starts, the corresponding data objects are generated from the texts stored in the text pool. They can be addressed using the name of the text symbol.
Variables are data objects whose contents can be changed using ABAP statements. You declare variables using the DATA, CLASS-DATA, STATICS, PARAMETERS, SELECT-OPTIONS, and RANGESstatements.
Constants are data objects whose contents cannot be changed. You declare constants using the CONSTANTSstatement.
    c.  Anonymous Data  Objects
Data objects that cannot be addressed using a name are known as anonymous data objects. They are created using the CREATE DATAstatement and can be addressed using reference variables.
    d.  System-Defined Data Objects
System-defined data objects do not have to be declared explicitly - they are always available at runtime.
    e.  Interface Work Areas
Interface work areas are special variables that serve as interfaces between programs, screens, and logical databases. You declare interface work areas using the TABLES and NODESstatements.
What is the difference between Type and Like?
    Answer1:
TYPE, you assign datatype directly to the data object while declaring.
LIKE,you assign the datatype of another object to the declaring data object. The datatype is referenced indirectly.
    Answer2:
Type is a keyword used to refer to a data type whereas Like is a keyword used to copy the existing properties of already existing data object.
    Answer3:
type refers the existing data type
like refers the existing data object
    reward if useful

  • How to pick the field "Origin Object" from SAP R/3

    Hi all,
I need to implement a new field in a BEx Report : "Origin Object". This data is mix of "Cost Center" + "Project type", it's related to the PS module.
This field isn't available in my BW datawarehouse, so I need to figure out where and how to pick up it in R/3. I used the "data element" name : "CO_USPOB" and I've made a research through the "Where used list" tool but I didn't find any tables, only some structures. I've checked all of these structures but I didn't get any tracks...
Do you know another way to investigate? is there any doc. on the SAP.help about this data element?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Jak

    Hi,
If you know the transaction where the field can be seen. Then run the trace on that transaction and in the Trace list you will see all the tables accesed during the tranasaction execution. Then you can get the correct table from the table list
    Thanks,

  • I'm travelling and trying to back up my new iPhone to iCloud. I have sufficient storage, am connected to wifi and it's plugged into a power source and yet it doesn't seem to work. Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

I'm travelling and trying to back up my new iPhone to iCloud. I have sufficient storage, am connected to wifi and it's plugged into a power source and yet it doesn't seem to work at all. I'm currently in India. Could that be the cause or can anyone suggest any reason why this wouldn't work?

"gets stuck" - are there any error messages?
If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test:   Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options.  Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup.  If that doesn't work, then this post will not help.  If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup.  If successful, keep repeating these steps.  If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail.  (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

  • Beginners Guide sound installation -- OSS and ALSA objective features

Beginners Guide sound installation -- OSS and ALSA objective features needed
    Hi,
In most wiki pages i just edit the things that i think need editing. Just look at the oss history
In all those cases i didn't really saw a need to ask for permission.. that would kinda destroy the wiki idea.
However i want to change the sound instructions in the beginners guide so i made a copy of the entire guide and the part that i changed there is: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Use … ling_Sound now i have a slight issue there. As you can see i'm in favor of OSS and because you can spot that it's not objective. Now i would ask 2 things.
    1. Could you all post your features of OSS and ALSA
    2. Once that's done can i have permission to place that section in the beginners guide? that will also include removing the sound installation from the beginners guide which i already did in my version
My personal reason to do this. i've read this  and am since then pro OSS and against the ALSA/PulseAudio combo. i think that combo needs to get out of linux (most notably Fedora and Ubuntu) ASAP. and oss needs to go back into the linux kernel
    Thank you for your time,
    Mark

I'm an alsa/pulse user, so I'll give a bit of the 'other side'.
    Alsa/pulse
    Pros:-
    network sound
advanced connection of sink/source (including merging sinks)
    bluetooth support!
highly supported by existing apps, either through directly supporting Pulse or through its alsa plugin (you should not need to recompile properly-written apps which do not assume they should write audio data directly to hardware, I think I only needed to recompile mpd on my system)
    Cons:-
Setup isn't the easiest. Can't comment vs OSS4 because I haven't tried it
    OSS4
    Pros:-
Everyone seems to say sound quality is better. I guess that's because they're comparing it with dmix alsa. Use pulse with alsa and you should not notice any difference in sound quality though.
    Cons:-
Most apps nowadays default output to alsa. Meaning OSS plays them using an alsa plugin.
    USB support is admittedly skimpy.
EDIT: Having read the sound article you referred to, my only comment is that the writer really has it in for Pulse... 3 seconds latency, where'd he get that from? I use pulse for audio recording (when I'm lazy to fire up JACK) and while there IS latency, its definitely in the ms range.
    Thanx for the input

    markg85, libflashsupport isn't needed. [1]
pacman -Ql oss | grep flash
If you don't know, please don't put in wiki, this could cause unnecessary problems.  As for the mms section:
If your stream sounds ugly in totem like it did with me then you could try to play it with another codec like ffmpeg (mplayer). That "fixed" the issue for me. This will not fix the issue that somehow pops up in gstreamer when playing MMS streams but it will give you the option to play it with good sound quality. Playing it in mplayer is simple:
    # mplayer mmsh://yourstreamurl
Could you fix this?  ffmpeg is not a codec .  Also define ugly, and what is somehow?

As for the things you didn't know. As soon as i fully understand how i can get a microphone working in OSS i will add that to the wiki as well. Unless you already know it.. in that case, feel free to add it.
For the mic, I did get mine going.  Can't remember just how I did mine (sorry, think I had to disable one of the inputs),  but do remember to prevent it from passing through the speakers had to disable "Misc Microphone".

For libflashsupport on the same page you linked it clearly states:
    #  Flash V9 and V10 require libflashsupport to output sound via OSS. Typically a 32-bit version of the library is required.
    # Flash V10 has a 64-bit version which requires a 64 bit libflashsupport.
Also i tested it with and without libflashsupport. On archlinux (x64 running here) there most certainly is a need for libflashsupport when you want to have sound in your flash. And yes i tested the archlinux OSS version and the mercurial version (running now) bith need it  installed manually! On my pc sound in flash didn't work without it but did with it. So, no not removing from the wiki as it's needed. But i see you removed it for me! please do NOT do that if you didn't even verified it. I use flash 10 x64 and i need it!
As for the ffmpeg "codec" changed it to backend.
And i did get the microphone working near perfect: http://www.4front-tech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13192
Now for some news you all might like.
On my school i need to do an investigation to whatever i want and i'm heavily thinking about investigating the pros/cons of alsa compared to oss (or oss compared to alsa). That investigation will take from monday next week till next mondey till friday 23 of oktober. In that investigation i'm going to do some in depth look of alsa and oss and that will include the usability as well.
Following up on that investigation i will spend another 8 weeks on my school making a volume control application that can be used with alsa and oss and easily expandable with other sound systems. The goal of this is to make one sound application that can manage (in the first place) alsa and oss. oss is going to be implemented and alsa is probably going to be dummy implemented because it's likely way to much for me to implement both.
Before you get to exited, both projects (investigating and making the application) are just made up today and i just don't know if both will get accepted by my school. I asked one teacher and he liked the idea a lot and could potentially have a value for the sound management under linux. Once i do get this started i will involve the community (YOU!) with this since this project can't be done without the community specially the investigation.
And once i start and have something to tell/ask i will blog about it on http://blog.mageprojects.com
    edit::
And this idea already got dumped. read more a few posts down or click: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 34#p612634
