Source Control/ Files won't update

Hi,
I am using RoboHelp X5 with Visual Source safe 6.0. The
problem is more to do with the file or folder organization (I
think).
Basically we have folders setup in VSS set to our local
folders each author has on their machines. I joined my company a
year ago and noticed the mess of folders and files outside topic
folders (sub-folders) on my local drive. Then I learned its because
when we update certain project pages then check-in the project, the
pages/files update to the wrong location, meaning they update to
the main Project folder rather than the topic sub -folders that
Visual Source safe is set to. Therefore we are forced to copy these
updated pages outside the subfolders on our local drive and paste
to the appropriate sub/topic folders, then Check-in so that VSS
picks up the updated pages to deploy.
I noticed that certain projects within RoboHelp have folders
in the Project manager tab under HTML files and these projects
usually update to correct location when checked-in, but they also
have separate deployment paths for each sub folder within Visual
Source.
I can't figure out if the problem is with the deployment
paths or the folder setup in RoboHelp. I tested a project
deployment by creating a folder within RoboHelp to reflect the ones
on our local drive then I dragged a topic in this folder, updated
saved then checked in to realize the update was picked up in VSS
but when I deployed the page, the links on the this page wouldn't
work. Keep in mind the deployment settings for this particular
project are the same for all the sub-folders. Hence I have no idea
what the problem could be. Please Help. I would appreciate a quick
solution that doesn't keep our links and projects online from
working.
Thanks

  • TFS Preview source control file size limit

Is there a file size limit for adding large files to a TFS Preview project's source control..?   I would like to add some files to source control that are in the 20-30Mb range and the requests keep aborting.

    Hi Erich,
    Thank you for your post.
I test the issue by adding .zip file to TFS Azure version comtrol, the size include 10MB, 20MB, 100MB, 2GB, i can add they to version control properly without any problem.
In order narrow down the issue, here are some situations i want to clarify from you:
    1. What's the error message when TFS azure block the check-in process? Could you share a screen shot?
    2. Which client tool are you using? VS10 or VS11? Or other tools?
    3. Try to reproduce this in different network environment and see what will happen.
    4. Capture a fiddler trace which can help to check the issue.
    Thanks,

  • Index file won't update on server

I have changed & uploaded mjy index.html file
many, many times with no problem. Now I have another update
& when I upload it with either Dreamweaver or
GoDaddy's FTP it does not update the file...even though I get no
    error message.
I even created a new index file using the exact same script
as what is currently loaded...only changing a couple words...but it
still will not update. It says the file on the server is dated 2/6
(today), but it is not the file I just uploaded.
Edit: The site is at www.webrevamps.com
I will attach the new code that won't stick on the server. To
make it simple, all I changtyed from the code that shows on the web
is I changed the title to "WebRevamps.com & added
    "Hello Me" next to "Hello
    World"
    Any suggestions?

  • Help File Won't Update

I am having a problem in getting an updated help file to show up in the program execution. The help file is <program_help/index.html>, and shows up correctly in both the Resources and Products Groups in XCode. That is, after modifying only some text in the index.html file the modified index.html correctly appears in the XCode editor. The path to the index.html file is (correctly) unchanged in the Groups & Files list. The info.plist also remains unchanged.
After a clean/rebuild, the correct modified <program_help/index.html> is located in the Contents folder of <build/Release/program>. However, when program is launched, either within XCode or in the Finder, the Help file accessed via the Help menu has not been updated, i.e., the older unmodified version of the index.html file is displayed from within the program.
I am obviously missing something - any suggestions will be appreciated.

I agree that it is probably a cached file somewhere. I have not been able to find it, though. I have trashed the ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpui folder and any other files I've found that reference the program in ~/Library - but the wrong help file still keeps turning up.
I've even tried to explicitly modify the com.apple.helpui/TOCCache.plist entry for the program with the pathname to the correct help file, but as soon as I call the help file in the program the TOCCache.plist file entry reverts to the the old version of the help file in an earlier version of the program.
I doubt that any of these exercises should be necessary, though. There must be some setting in XCode that should take care of getting the correct reference for the help file. I've looked and can not find anything at this point.
One step I will eventually take is to remove all possible sources of the old help file and then see what happens.

  • 9.2 MUI .msp file won't update 9.1.3?

I have 9.1.3 installed, and went to run the AdbeRdrUpd920_mui_cum.msp and it says that the upgrade patch cannot be installed becasue the porgram to be upgraded may be missing or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.  I used all the .msp files to upgrade to 9.1.1 9.1.2 9.1.3, but do i have to use the AcroRead.msi file because it is a 9.2 instead of a 9.1.x upgrade?
Did anyone else have this problem?

    Do a clean (re)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • .lbi bug?...lbi file won't update pages...lbi link broke

    Greetings,
I have an lbi file used as a menu in DW CS5 that used to work...then by some cruel chance, the lbi file would no longer update it self into the 320 pages that it is set in.
If I re paste the lbi file from Assets back into the page code, it works again.
Here's my process... it asks to update all the 320 pages in the site (which, yes, are set in Manage Sites...)
Then I 'update', but the log says nothing updated (it does show a few updates here since I did repaste the .lbi link into a few test pages)
Pages that have the original lbi file pasted in no longer have the link highlighted in the off-yellow color and so do not get updated.
Newly pasted (and original...when the link was still connected and working) lbi files do have the link highlighted in the off-yellow and therefore do get updated when I save a change to the menu.lbi file.
<b>BUT</b> I have no idea why the link failed/stopped working!!
    <u><b>2 Questions</b></u>
    1. Why did the link suddenly fail?
    2. Is there a way to re-link the menu.lbi file, or will I have to re-paste the menu.lbi file into all 320 pages?
    Thanks for any help!

    1. Does SSI work w/out a server?
No. (hence Server Side Includes - they're Include files which are included in the page by the server before delivery to the browser)
    2. Can you point me to a tutorial that would help me understand/use SSI for a menu nav?
    Try
    http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/sprymenu/ssi.php
http://www.projectseven.com/products/menusystems/pmm2/ug-examples/includes/index.htm (commercial DW extension but the SSI tutorial applies to anything)
    3. Can I assume that I would still need to alter the 320 pages to show where the SSI instance begins and ends?
Yes. Once and once only. You replace the .lbi code in the page with the SSI code then forget about it forever
Also...this still doesn't explain why my lbi link failed and whether there is a non-labor-intensive-fix for it.
    No idea, I'm afraid.
No longer use Library files myself since I discovered SSIs several years ago.

  • Video file won't update

I keep having issues with these darn iPods! Ok well, my problem this time is this: I just finished converting a file from to mp4. I made sure my computer had the codec and everything first, and then when I finished converting it to MP4, I tried to add it to my library, but nothing happened. I tried changing the name of the file from 'Mortal Kombat II Annihilation' to 'Mortal Kombat II', and still when I press 'Open' nothing happens! Is it too late to save the file? Or perhaps is there another format iPods could read other than just MP4? Please help me out, thank you!

I believe the iPod supports more than just MPEG4.
    Also supported are:
    1. H.264 (mpeg4 variant)
    2. M4V
    3. MOV
"H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats"

  • After upgrade from TFS 2010 users cannot view source control

I recently did a in place of upgrade of TFS 2010 to TFS 2013.   All of my users permissions stayed in tact. The users (contributors) cannot view any of the source control in either in VS 2010 or 2013.  Since I am the administrator I
see everything and have no issue.   Is there something that did not get brought over in the upgrade?

    Hi Rrenn49,
    Thanks for your post.
You upgraded to TFS 2013 Update 4?  There’s no any issue or warning during upgrade process?
What’s the detailed message they received when the contributors try to view source control files?
Please manually check the contributors group’s permissions on your TFS Source Control.
If you add a new user into your contributors group, this new user can access TFS Source Control correctly?

  • Robo HTML 9 will not open our project from Source Control after initial start.

We have a project in version control that we have been using forever, since 2003 or so and many versions of RH.  Now that we have upgraded to 9, this project will open the first time in version control and work normally.  Once you close the project and attempt to reopen from the starter screen, it opens just great, just not in version control.  The files are still set to read only.  I have done this several times and the only way i can work on my project in version control is to act like i am opening a project from scratch, then it needs to overwrite all of my local files with the server files.  It would not be so bad but I am 3000 miles away from the server and 13 hops plus a slow firewall on the other end.  While this has never been a problem in the past it is a big problem because it takes hours for all the files to download and overwrite my local files.
This only happens with RH9 and Version Control 3.1.  RH8 works no problem.  So, I don't know if this is a RH9 starter problem or a Source Control Problem.  Maybe I will make a similar thread in the RH area.  I'll wait to see if I get any useful hits from this one first.
It is very strange, I had RH9 open for several days because I was afraid to close the project for this reason and yesterday I published for the month so the heat is less right now but today, it opened with no source control.  If I go to Source Control the only thing i can select is put project in source control.  That is how it got into source control after converting to RH9.
We have another project that seems to open from version control normally but we can only save topics in HTML view.  No useful answers to that topic after a week.
    Got any ideas???
I have tried different folder names, different paths, etc.
    Thanks,
    dv

Ok, here is a wierd one, I used the add to version control icon in the menu bar, It already knew the path so I figured I'm the only one who has been editing these files for the past few days so I clicked add to version control.  It added it. I closed and reopeded and still had the same files checked out.  Closed, checked in all, then reopened and it is working in SourceControl.  Strange that after opening from source control and closing that you need to reopen and tell it to put the project into source control.  Obviously some flag is not getting set somewhere.  This might help others having problems reopening source control files.

  • IMac display issues: black icons and folders, doubled up files in finder windows, programs won't update

    HELP!
I'm hoping someone can help with my iMac 27" purchased in 2010.  From a previous discussion I started a year ago, I have had virtually nothing but trouble with it.  After the internal hard drive crashing, I was able to install OS X on an external drive and used it for a good 8 months to drive my iMac and I took it to an expert who has replaced it with a 3tb HDD, but at some point the display has gone crazy.  I am not certain if it is hardware, i.e. graphics card or video but I'll describe the symptoms and add some pics to see if anyone has seen this before and knows what the problem may be.
    1.     90% of the screen was covered with white with just a portion of the desktop showing through.
(This happened when I tried to reinstall OS X on the old HDD and the new one, but didn't happen when using OS X install disc)
    2.     Files, folders, photos and some icons on the dock go black
    3.     Files and photos double up when in Finder.  When I'm viewing photos, it shows them but all the previous panes and the photos are jumbled behind the
            photos.
    4.     Anything I open in Preview is completely black, but ColourSync Utility opens everything fine.
    5.     Programs won't update.  They will download onto my iMac but won't update.  Some say, because I don't have OS X 10.6.8 others just won't open.
Including Google Chrome, opens with two tabs open but when I open a third tab the rainbow wheel just turns.  Skype won't open just gives a failure
            report.
    6.     10.6.8 Update Combo downloads but when I restart the screen is covered in white - as in 1. and I have to reinstall OS X 10.6.2 to get the screen to               clear but then all the above problems continue.
    7.     Sometimes videos don't display in Youtube, or the entire page other than the video player is covered in rainbow lines.
    8.     Some buttons are blacked out on selection pages, i.e. system preferences, or saving screens
    9.     Photos opened in FB go upside down and flicker all over the page as my mouse runs over them.
    10.   Photos won't upload into internet editing programs.
I can't find anyone who has had the same issue in all of the discussions I've looked at, but it sounds like I have a video problem, but I wondered if it might be a software problem with flash or something.  Or I have something malicious on my computer.
I also have an iphone 5 that faulted with the iTunes and USB icons and won't fix after trying one of those R-Sims, and I wondered if somewhere along the line it may have even had a virus/trojan/malware that has infected my external drive and then my internal drive.  A reason I have thought that is because I have used my daughter's MacPro laptop and plugged in my external drive and I noticed the windows in hers were starting to do the same thing.
And on top of all that, my fans didn't work for over a year and I had to place an external fan at the back of the computer or it would overheat and shut down, but after resetting the SMU it started working again, but it is very noisy. I have tried to download SMC Fan Control and although it downloads to the HDD, it won't open.
Sorry its such a long post, I do hope with all of this information someone can help me.
    Thanks so much.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
*Soon after, I installed Quake Wars, L4D 1, 2, Mass Effect 2, Need For Speed: Undercover, Mozilla Firefox and *Sophos Enterprise AV*. Approximately a week after installation, I began to experience malfunctions varying greatly*
Macs get grumpy when running anti virus software. Disable or completely uninstall Sophos A/V and see if that makes a difference. A/V software on a Mac will slow the drive down more and more as time goes on.
Also, check the vendor sites for each 3rd party software you installed to make sure they are compatible with 10.6.x
The "hard reboots" are a result of the system freezing due to incompatible or outdated software.

  • Working with uncompressed XFL files and source control | Learn Flash Professional CS5 & CS5.5 | Adobe TV

Use the Flash uncompressed XFL file format with a source control system to enable designers and developers to collaborate on Flash projects. Contributors can edit different assets simultaneously and see updated assets as soon as they are checked in.
    http://adobe.ly/x0GHI4

This is a great overview of sequential use of source control with the xlf format. However, typically in a team setting, team members are working at the same time. Our team has found that many of the xlf files have one or more timestamp related entries that get updated even when no functional changes have occurred. This is particularly true of DOMDocument file, which timestamps changes, marks library elements as expanded or not, and tracks a published history. All of these changes conflict with anyone who is simultaneously working on the xlf. Any tips on how to deal with these issues?

  • Saving Flex .launch file in source control

For my Flex project, I am not using default path to launch in the run/debug settings. This creates problem b/c everytime someone gets the project from source control, import it to Flash Builder, he/she always need to manually change the path.
I am trying to put the .launch file in the source control so we can eliminate this manual process. The problem is I can't seem to define relative URL in the path to launch. I tried the standard ..\..\xx\xx\index.html approach, and I've also tried using the eclipse enviroment variable such as {DOCUMENTS}\xx\xx\index.html
Has anyone encounter this problem ? Is this even possible ?
    Please help... Thanks

  • What files should not be checked into Source Control?

    Good afternoon.
Running RoboHelp 11, integrated with Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio 2010.
When my two colleagues recently "got" the latest project files from Source Control, they also got items that had been removed or deleted. For example, I had removed all conditional build tags from my project, but their version still included the build tags. Eventually, thanks in part to an old post from Peter Grainge, we realized that the PSS in Source Control contained a lot of that old information. We deleted the PSS and stopped checking it into Source Control. Problem solved. No more conditional build tags or unwanted Single Source Layouts, etc. (I think the PSS got checked in by our Release Engineer when he was trying to solve some other problem. Two years ago it was not being checked in.)
I vaguely remember reading something somewhere once upon a time about not checking certain RoboHelp  project management files into Source Control. So far I've not found any such information in the RoboHelp Help or online.
Does anyone know where I can find a list of RoboHelp HTML project management files, such as the PSS file, that should never be checked into Source Control?
    Many thanks.

  • Content Viewer won't update file on tablet

Hello.  My content viewer on my Nexus 7 won't update all the way.  What I mean is, the app comes up fine, and I've refreshed/archived it several times.  The logo/picture in the content viewer next to the file updates, the viewer number updates, but the file itself is still showing the original version.
Any ideas how I can fix this or what is going on?  I'm working on InDesign CS5.5 and just recently installed the Content Viewer on my Nexus 7.

I am having the same issue in CS6 Indesign. I try to preview using the desktop viewer and nothing happens, it silently fails.
I have uninstalled Indesign CS6 (including preferences), Uninstalled adobe Air 3.3. Uninstalled the content viewer.
rebooted, reinstalled air rebooted, reinstalled Indesign CS6 rebooted...
    And it still doesn't work!
I think it may be to do with AIR rather than InDesign because it goes through the progressbars in InDesign and I have previously a BETA version of AIR that caused an issue else where, even though this is now uninstalled and the latest release of AIR is installed it still is failing to comunicate with AIR.
    Any ideas...
    thanks Geoff
