Source file after done editing?

Imovie 10 -  got into today and was happy with some things, but not how they removed the ability to see the original source file
Example:  I have a 10min movie of a birthday
Import,  edit ,  export 3 min of footage
The other 7 minutes are gone.   What if I wanted to go back and pull some of that footage later.    Is the only answer to reimport from camera and store on some other drive?

What do you mean by 'gone'?
You're familiar with the basic concept of Events (=pool of raw material) and Projects (=final movies)?

If you don't need them at all, you can delete them. People usually store them in external drives if they need them.
have thought of, only export those clip you have used in your timeline, uncompressed?
Didn't really get this part. Do you mind explaining this?

    Hi,
    1. set the mode to delete
    2. make sure the file is "deletable"
    3. check xiserver:port/MessagingSystem/monitor log to see what happens with the file
(chec both audit and log in that link)

  • How should i export already h.264 compressed video/audio files after i edit them?

I am recording gameplay footage off computer with a program that compresses the video and audio. After I edit the footage how should i export it? I don't want to lose quality by double compressing it.

    No.
You need to explore Compound Clips. This workflow may or may not be of help.
Select an Event with clips in it and press Option+G to make a (blank) compound clip.
Select the Event Browser, create a new Event and call it 'Effects'.
Drag the Compound Clip into this Event.
Right-click the clip and select 'Open in Timeline'.
Select the timeline and press Option+W. This will add a Gap Clip to the timeline.
Select the gap clip and press Ctrl+D then type in the duration you want the clip to be.
Now open a project and select and copy one of the clips with effects etc.
Open the Compound Clip in the Timeline again, select the gap clip and press Option+Cmd+V to paste the effects into your Compound Clip.
This clip is now saved in your Browser and will remain there for you to copy and then paste the effects into any clip in any project.
It's a bit clunky, but it works - and once you learn about Compound Clips, you can work wonders with them. As an example, if you want to add more effects without overwriting the effects in the Compound Clip, simply make the Compound Clip into a Compound Clip (again) and add the effects. They will be added to the original effects.

  • PS4 shuts down... PS4 also adding XMP files after I edit images

So there is another thing going on I have noticed...
When I open PS4 and don't do anything else, it will shut down on it's own after 3 or 4 minutes. All I do is open the program and just wait... Poof-It's gone! (And it's also shutting down on it's own during image edits but i generally get a few more minutes out of it.)
Also-everytime I edit an image, PS4 creates a XMP file that is about 6kbs. So now I have a bunch of extra files that I don't know what to do with. If this is a new feature, I sure would like to know about it.
    I am running XP (sp3) with 2GB RAM. Pentium D 3.00ghz (I am letting PS4 use 640mb of 1686mb available RAM)
Never had these issues with CS.

Hey thanks for the quick reply...
I just downloaded the upgrade but funny... I am on 11.0 (Why didn't they sell me the most recent version since I purchased (and downloaded) the upgrade direct from Adobe a few days ago??)
I will upgrade to the most recent version.
Oh and yes- CS4 is what I meant.
I will check the event logs and see if I can find what happened.

  • Reload source file after custom build step

    Hello,
I use a source code generator that creates c-code (i.e. hello.c) from some kind of definition file.
I want the generator to create hello.c on each build, so i have decided to put a batch (that calls the generator) into the "custom build step" of my project.
This way the generator is called before each build.
Unfortunatly CVI does not reload the changed hello.c after it has been modified/overwritten by the batch... the build is done with the previous version of hello.c. Not until the build is finished CVI recognizes that hello.c has been modified and prompts "Update Window from Disk", then I have to run a second build in order to get the changes of hello.c applied.
How can I accomplish to have only build process that first calls the generator and then compiles the project (with modified hello.c)?
    Thanks

The problem happens because you have the file open in CVI. If a file is opened in CVI, then CVI uses the contents that are available in the opened window and not the contents on disk. Also, once CVI starts a build it does not monitor changes to the file on disk - consider what should happen if the file on disk changes while it is being compiled. So while the custom build step does overwrite the file on disk, CVI uses the contents that are in the source window for the compilation. To avoid this problem, make sure the file is not opened in CVI when you build - this will make CVI load and compile the file from disk after the custom build step overwrites it.

  • How can I change sequence setting after done editing?

I just finish editing one of my video project. Unfortunately, just found out the sequence I was working with was in wrong settings. I tried to change aspect ratio from HD1440 *1080 to HDTV 1080i (16:9). However, after I changed the setting, my footage got all stretched out. Is there someway I can still change my sequence to HDTV 1080i without distorting it? Or do I have to re-edit everything with a new sequence, which I will hate it. Thanks a lot.

Highlight all your footage and then control click or right click and choose REMOVE ATTRIBUTES, and then choose things like BASIC MOTION and DISTORT. If you have stills with moves, or some clips with push ins, you can avoid those and do them separately.

  • Do we have to separate java source files and class files after compiled..

    Hi,
    I really confussed with this:
I have compiled java source files into a package and tried to use but the classes can not be found. Should I separate class and source files after compiled with packages names. I hope you understand what i mean.
    Thank you
    So Jag

You can choose to separate the source files or not. It sounds like your problem has to do with Classpath and packages.
If the file c:\base\compute\engine\mysourcefile.java starts with the statement "package engine;" then the fully qualified name of the class is is engine.mysourcefile. If the file c:\base\compute\client\mysourcefile.java starts with the statement "package client;" then its fully qualified name is client.mysourcefile.
In your source files, whenever you refer to a class from another class, the compiler needs the fully qualified class name. You can either import the class or use the fully qualified name. In order for the compiler to find the class, the c:\base\compute directory must be in the Classpath (assuming the package definitions from above).
Finally, to launch an application given the above, the command would be "java client.mysourcefile" assuming the main method is in client.mysourcefile.

  • Corrupt Winword source files

Hello to all RoboHelp gurus & users
I did not find anything about this in the archives so here is
my current issue. I am fine tuning the formatting before releasing
one of my CHM Help File (HTML Help File generated with RH for Word
X5.0.1 and Word 2000). I had to work on some bulleted lists and
managed to corrupt 2 of my Word source files on two different days.
Everytime, I ended up with huge Word files after having edited my
bulleted lists (one file 211 Mb and the other 165 Mb). For some
reason, it looks like Word has saved a lot of garbage in these
files & they were taking very long to load or save. My only
solution to recover the data (as I very unfortunately had checked
back into VSS the corrupted files) was to select all the text into
the corrupted file, copy and paste into a new Word document, save
that new document, then delete the corrupt file from the project
& import the new file (that I had previously renamed like the
old one). Has someone else come across this before? Is this due to
Word or RH? What can I do to prevent this from happening again?
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello Jennifer
Thank you ever so much for your reply. However I would need
some clarification as I did not understand everything.
    1. where can I access the Topic Text Numbered/Topic Text
Bulleted styles that come with Robohelp? I have used the Word 's
bullets and from what you say, this may be the problem
    2. if I delete my RTF file as you suggest at the start of
your post, could you give me some details on how to re-instate the
new ones in the most efficient way. Here is what I have done:
a- I have copied and pasted the whole text from the corrupted
file into a new word document that I have saved
b- Within the project, I have deleted the corrupt file as a
    source document
c - I have moved all the files attached to the corrupt file
    (e.g. file.doc, file.rtf, file.prs and file.rbh) to a temp
    directory
d- I have renamed the new doc file as the corrupted file and
placed it in the same directory as the other source documents
e - I have imported the new word document into the project
    using the Import option
Basically I do not understand very well your 'The advice
usually given is to delete them, open the project, save the new RTF
files when prompted and generate' bit.
Thanks again for your help and advice.

  • Dynamic rendered component doesn't appear in source file! How to get hold

I have three select components on my page, the 1st one is selectOneRadio2, the 2nd one is selectManyCheckbox1, and the 3rd one is selectOneRadio3. The selectManayCheckbox1 and selectOneRadio3 do not display at the same time. Their rendered properties are dynamically set in the managed bean depending on the choice of the selectOneRadio2. It toggles between those two components just fine when I set the rendered property in the managed bean dynamically in a value change event, however when I tried to retrive the value from the 3rd component selectOneRadio3 which was not rendered initially (or by default), I get nothing. When I viewed the source file after the component is rendered on the page, that component is not in the source file at all, and I saw the default rendered 2nd component (selectManyCheckbox1) instead!!! How can I get hold of the later rendered component (selectOneRadio3)???

    I use Trinidad components because it's a migrated application from 10g to 11g. I'm using 11g now.
Edited by: SophiaM on Feb 3, 2011 10:23 AM

Hi Joonas, Thank you for your replay. I don't know the answer to your question.
First, I have no idea if that will cause any problem, or the libraries would have conflict or not if I use both within the same application. We are very careful about that becaue we had a lot trouble when we did the migration. A LOT of things were broken after the migration and some of the issues were caused by conflict on libraries. That's why although I am creating new pages in the application, I still carefully stay with Trinidad components.
Second, out of curiosity from your suggestion, I tried to add ADF library and technology into my project, I still don't see the ADF components avaiable in my Component Palette panel, even after I restarted JDeveloper. So I don't know how to switch it even if I dare.
I just read something like this, seems apply to my situation:
Your correct in the fact that rendered=false is useless. However, that is not how it's typically used. Typically this will be bound to a backing bean which will allow you to turn the component on/off. You should use a hidden input field and a switcher if you need to keep the value in the form submission. Adam is totally correct in that it will break a bunch of stuff if we all of a sudden just "turned it on" because people have come to expect the current behavior.
Do you know what a switcher is?

  • What is the best practice in securing deployed source files

    hi guys,
Just yesterday, I developed a simple image cropper using ajax
and flash. After compiling the package, I notice the
package/installer delivers the same exact source files as in
    developed to the installed folder.
This doesnt concern me much at first, but coming to think of
it. This question keeps coming out of my head.
"What is the best practice in securing deployed source
    files?"
How do we secure application installed source files from
being tampered. Especially, when it comes to tampering of the
source files after it's been installed. E.g. modifying spraydata.js
files for example can be done easily with an editor.

    Hi,
You could compute a SHA or MD5 hash of your source files on
first run and save these hashes to EncryptedLocalStore.
On startup, recompute and verify. (This, of course, fails to
address when the main app's swf / swc / html itself is
    decompiled)

  • How To Divide Source File Into Smaller Files Without Exporting?

    Hello Everyone,
I'm a beginner with PPro CS4 and to video editing in general. I've done a lot of Googling and searching of these forums to get an answer to this question, but I haven't found a clear answer. Here's my problem:
I have many hours of HDV footage shot over the past few years with a Canon HV30. This footage is on dozens of DV tape cassettes. I want to capture most of it to disk.
When I capture a tape to disk, I get a single large mpeg4 file. (PPro captures all HDV footage to mpeg4.) "Scene select" doesn't work with the HV30, so my only other way to make smaller capture files would be to set In/Out points with batch capture. But this would mean hours of fast-forwarding and reversing with the VCR-like controls on the camera to review all the tapes and set the points. I thought it might be FASTER to simply capture an entire tape in one operation, THEN review the captured tape within PPro (it's much faster using the scrubber), and dividing that file into smaller files within PPro, thereby avoiding all the mechanical fast-forwarding and rewinding on the camera itself.
But the only way I can find to do this seems to involve EXPORTING clips. Am I wrong to think that exporting a clip to a new file involves a degradation of the original mpeg4 source file? Or will there be no loss to the quality if I simply export to mpeg4 format?
It seems there should be an easy way to simply divide the original capture into smaller source files for later editing, without putting the footage through another generation of processing (exporting), which might entail some loss of quality. Or am I wrong about this?
    (CS4 Master Suite, i7 3630k, 16GB RAM, C: 256GB SSD, D: 1T Setpoint F3, E: 1T Setpoint F3)

HDV footage is mpeg2 (whats in a number ). CS4 does not do scene detect you need to use HDV split for that.
    http://strony.aster.pl/paviko/hdvsplit.htm.
You can run your already captured files through hdv split and it will chop the file into clips and off you go.

sorry, no can do...ain't gonna happen.
What you've done is hit the wall on is the basic difference between lite duty spot healing and photo level tone and color correction (Lightroom and Camera Raw) and heavy duty pixel retouching in Photoshop.
When you need to substantially manipulate the "pixels" you need Photoshop and you'll be forced to render the raw file into a TIFF or PSD file either through Camera Raw or more better, via Lightroom.
You can do the basic tone and color correction directly in Lightroom and edit in Photoshop from Lightroom. But you will NEED to create and save out a "rendered" image that is no longer raw...then retouch to your heart's desire, save it and it'll be available in Lightroom along side your original raw if you choose.
But no, there's no way to open a raw in Photoshop, manipulate the heck out of it with massive retouching then save that back out as a raw file...ain't gonna happen.

  • PDF outputs continually crash after editing an html source file

I have English and multiple localized versions of a RoboHelp webhelp project. I have created several PDF outputs for the localized versions. I can generate the PDFs fine when I don't touch any of the html source files.
However, I had to make a change to one of the html source files to remove a <dl> from the source file. After making the change to the source file in an outside text editor (Notepad ++), I went back to RoboHelp to generate the PDF, and the PDF output crashed.
The reason I was using an outside text editor is that when I tried to edit the <dl> HTML tags in RH, its HTML editor deleted all text within the tags being edited.  There was no undo at this point.  In anotehr attempt to use the RH Design editor, RH didn’t delete the <dd> or <dt> tags when those tag styles were changed to <h4> and <p>, respectively. RH inserted the new html wrapper inside the existing ones, instead of replacing it.
Also, during the PDF generation process, a Visual Basic error message will appear dozens of times stating that the application was interrupted.  I must press OK to continue for each error message.
What gives with the PDF generation failing like this?

I hate to say it but it sounds like something you are doing in the external editor is not liked by RoboHelp.
It could just be the way that text editor codes the file. I use EditPad Pro and that has various options for text encoding. My guess is your editor is not set to what RoboHelp expects.
Aftr that what I would do here is create a new one topic project and recreate the problem, with the minimum of text. It may help you spot the code RoboHelp does not like.
