Source System as R/3 production for the BI Development?

Hai..
My client asked me to get the data available in production for testing the loading and the calculations done in BI 7.0. I want to know whether it is possible to get the data from production.
In my undersatanding the landscape b/w BI and R/3 is
R/3 Dev -
> BI Dev
R/3 Qual -
> BI Dev
R/3 Prod -
> BI Dev
R/3 Qual -
> BI Qual
R/3 Prod -
> BI Qual
R/3 Prod -
> BI Prod
Can someone guide me regarding the RFc connection b/w BI 7.0 development and R/3 production.

You are welcome,
If your dev or quality server is copy of production try through test in dev or quality .
Yes, its not impossible to extract data from R/3 production to Bi development server only your RFC connection should be in place.
Secondly after your testing you need to remove you RFC connection ( R/3 to BW dev) & check you R3 Prod and Bi prod are in place.
Hope you are testing data through full load, not delta.
If you are testing delta you have to do all the steps again for init while you extract for prod after testing is done.

Hi Radka,
You have two options to do that:
1. Write an ABAP program or use an Infohub to download the data on to your Prod Application server.
2. Download the data to your PC and then FTP to your Prod App server. You can speak to your BASIS on this.

Hi,
you can reimport the same TR again once the mapping is done in BW from source system.
If you have left the TR's in the import queue of BW for later import then you can reimport it again.
This will go correctly.
In qualtiy to do the mappings you will need development authorization.

Source System BW - what is "Customizing for extractors" etc.

Can somebody explain IN DETAIL what is the purpose of
1)Customizing for the extractors
2)Transfer Global settings
3)Transfer exchange rates
I could not find any documentation in help.sap.com. Is there any documentation?

1)Customizing for the extractors
This is to modify/control the data transfer settings of the particular source system. It takes you to the SBIW screen (Implementation Guide) directly in the source system. Here you can control your datapacket size, number of datapackets for each IDoc etc. From this screen, you cal also maintain the datasources. All the activities realting to 'maintenance of datasources' can be accessed from here.
2)Transfer Global settings
Global tabls such as Fiscal Period tables, Fiscal variant values are transferred to BW from the R/3 system where they are maintained. Do a lookup on tables T00* in SE11 and you can see a bunch of tables.
3)Transfer exchange rates
Similar to the above tables, different exchange rates are maintained in the R/3 system. These gets transferred to BW. tables such as TCURR, TCURC, TCURV etc. These are called Global settings.

Hi,
I am in transaction FBL1N and want to search the vendor by F4 help.
1. When I hit F-4, the Search window appears.
2. It gives an pop-up message "No active external product for the fuzzy search".
3. When we open the help for the pop-up message it says :
No active external product for the fuzzy search
Message no. F2807
Diagnosis
The connection of an external product is required for the fuzzy search.
For more information, see Note 176559.
I have looked through the SAP Note 176559 but was not really relevant.

For the film not playing, you can use the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that film and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

I have enrolled for the apple developer program but apparently have the same account name in iBooks. I need to change the iBooks account but don't know how. Do I change my apple id? Will this cause me problems with iTunes etc etc?

Hi Chitra,
The problem is you would have created parameters in your sub report also. While passing parameter values to your sup reports from main report you don't need create same parameters in your sub reports.
Remove parameters from your sub report and link your sub repor using main report parameters. Once you link the parameter to your sub report you will see a parameter with ?PM in your sub report parameters. Now using this parameter you can filter your sub report.

Source system in RSA1 is diiferent to the datasource in infoprovider

I have created a quality source system in RSA1 tcode for client 210 but in my infoprovider it shows me of diiferent datasource ie for client 200 and i need this client to be 210 so kindly help me to resolve this issue

Do you want to change all the assignments from client 200 to 210. Or is it for this particular Infoprovider (you have mentioned) and the relevant transformations.
Does
1) both clients exists as your source systems or
2) client 200 is to be replaced by client 210.
In the second scenario, you can refer this article. Contact your BASIS team for guidance.

For scenario 1, if you want to load data from 210 client to this particular Infoprovider , replicate the datasource for client 210 in BI side and create new transformation, Infopackage and DTP from the datasource to the target.

Sourcing: Creating more than one PO for the same BID

Hello,
We are using the sourcing functionality in SRM 5.0 (classic escenario).
On the basis of an acepted bid, we generate a Purchase Order in the R/3 Backend system.
We noticed that in the standard, SRM lets us create for the same position of the bid, another Backend PO, without warning or error.
We would like to manipulate this escenario in such a way that this PO repitition of the same Bid position is not possible.
Anyone already found a way around this problem? May be we need to activate an error message?

but it does give warning that I have seen.
would recommed to work with yr ABAP team to see whether you can convert this message to type "Error".
one more suggestion is for ..... PO_NEW badi
hope you would have implementation of this exit.
then you can check whether for current BO BUS2200 whether ECC PO is already created
if yes
then do not create again

How to get total number of products for the site?

I want to know the total number of products available for the site. i checked in the dcs_product table, it shows 40849 unique products. is this the total number of products count which are used in the site?
I have another table in CATA schema dcs_product_sites, when i run the CatalogMaintenanceService to populate the records in this table, getting only 26000 products. Please let me know why this difference when i run the service.

dcs_product table gives all products in your catalog.
dcs_product_site will give products for a particular site.
If you have more than one site, then you need to query for that particular site.
And the number of products you show also depends upon the start and end date on the products.
And also some custom filters you have like Out of stock items etc.

I want to create a R/3 source system conenction in IDES
say Example
My IDES server For <b>R/3 ECC 6.0 is XYZ800</b> and client is 800.
My IDES server For <b>BI 7.0 also XYZ800</b> and client is 800.
in ECC 6.0 IDES, both BI and R/3 is same server.
In this case how to establish connection bn R/3 ECC 6.0 & BW(BI7.0)
is it possible to create a R/3 source system in IDES for this senario,
then please help me....

In your Case no need to create any Source system.
I also got same scenarion and i created connection with BI self Connection.
and i am able to replicate all data Source. in this case R/3 and BW both residing on same client and same server.
Just create BI self connection.
then Restore if it is not giving any error then activate that with Datasource.
