Source System Creation issue in BI

Hi Everyone,
I have already created RFC Connection in BW and EC(BackGround Users are ALEREMOTE and BWREMOTE). I am able to login using Remote Login from SM59 from BW to ECC and Vice versa. After this , When I try to create a Source System, it asks me to provide the ALEREMOTE and BWREMOTE Passwords along with the Source System Name.
I provide all the details.
Then the System asks me to login as a Administrator into ECC. And Once, I login, it throws up an error RFC Connection failed.
I think I am missing some steps. Please provide your inputs.
Regards,
Samir

Hi Ananda,
Thanks for your response. I did the same. Created Background users and  when Try to Create a Source System ,it prompts me to R/3 side and here it is showing as RFC Failed. Remote Logon is working. But when Icreate a source System and provide password details, it fails.
Please advice. Is there any password restrictions for Background users.I maintained it as "init123". Do we need to use Capitals. And once, we provide the initial password, do we need to change it again somewhere?
Thanks and Regards,
Samir

  • A question about item "type and release" of  source system creation

    Hello expert,
I have a question about item "type and release" of  source system creation.
As we know, when we create a web servie source system, there will display a pop-up which includes three items as "logical system","source system"and "type and release".
About the item "type and release",when we push "F4" button, there will be three default selections as below:
    "ORA 115     Oracle Applications 11i
    TLF 205     Tealeaf 2.05B
    XPD 020     SAP xPD".
Who can tell me when and how should I use the three selections.
And also I attempted to input the item by some optional letters except the default three selections and it seems that I can input it freely.
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Maggie

    Hello DMK,
Thank you very much for your answer. It is very helpful for me.
Can I ask you further about it?
I got that it is a semantic description item.
You said the default selections are set by our basis people.Would you like to tell me how should we creat a new value except the default ones for item "type and release"?Only by inputing the value in the item directly? But you see we canot see the new value item we created by ourself when we push "F4" button next time ,is that ok?Or do we have to ask basis people to define one new value item just like the default seletions before we use it.
Also if possible would you like to describe detail about "This becomes important when you are troubleshooting certain issues especially when RFC connection problems."
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Maggie

  • Source system creation

    hi experts,
this is the first time i am creating source system
i am have requirement to load data one bw system to another bi system,
so, to do that i defined and created logical system in bw for bi system and
i created same for bw in bi system also and everything is ok.
i guess my next step is to create source system(my self) for bw in bi .
when i am trying to create it is showing that it is already exists.and here what type of source system i need to choose. i am not founding any my self bw data mart
status symbol under  source system creation node and what type of the source system i need to choose and whether it is manually or automatically.if i choose automatically it is asking create new destination ,create back ground user and connection of source system to bw (it is asking to fill all fields),for manual system creation only logical system and rfc destination. is it required to creat source system or not because my self bw data mart symbol is present in bw system and bi system also.please correct me if anything wrong
    thanks

  • Error while source system creation/Source system transport

    Hi,
In our BW implementation, the system landscape is only 2 servers. One is BW Dev, another is BW Prd. All configurations are done in BW Dev and I extracted the data from QAS for this BW Dev system.
Since we can’t create the source systems in the BW Production system, I tried to create the source system for the SAP R3 Production system in BW Dev and trying to transport this to BW Production Instance.
         I have two queries.
    1.  Is this way is correct for creating the Source System for BW Production system?
    2. When I tried to activate the source system I am getting the following error messages. (I tested the RFC Destinations. There is no problem, I also done the configurations for logical system creation and client assignment in both the systems).
    Error in source system GWPCLNT900
         Message no. RSAR502
    Diagnosis
With Remote Function Call to system GWPCLNT900 error connection closed
         (no data)  ccurred.
    Procedure
Remove the cause of the error.
When tried again I got the following error message
    Basic type ZSBB030 doesn’t exist. EA 447
Result of the destination check: Timeout RSAR 375.
Could anyone throw some light on these errors?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
you need to maintain the logical systems on both R/3 and BW. You also need to set up the RFC connection with users that can log in to the other system. The R/3 system must be open for customizing in scc4.
In transaction se03 the system change options for 'Business Information Warehouse: SAP Namespace' and 'Business Information Warehouse: Customer Namespace' may need to be modifiable. I am not completely sure about this.
The last thing I will mention is that I have seen source system creation fail when the RFC-users are system users, and the source system creation worked if the RFC-users was display user while creating the source system. The RFC-users must be changed back to system user later...
Please look at best practice documents on a more step-by-step guide...

  • With out source system creation we have transported all the flow

    Hi all,
With out source system creation in Quality we have transported all the data flow
now is there any option to map the source system to transported flow.
    Regards
    Kiran Kumar

    Hi,
you can reimport the same TR again once the mapping is done in BW from source system.
If you have left the TR's in the import queue of BW for later import then you can reimport it again.
    This will go correctly.
In qualtiy to do the mappings you will need development authorization.
    Thanks

  • R/3 Source system creation

    Hello,
I wish to add an R/3 system to my BI 7.0 system. What exactly do I need to enter in the "Create SAP Source System" window? Should I leave backgrounduser as ALEREMOTE? I dont see any option of automatic source system creation. Could u pls help me with a step by step solution.
    Thanks. POINTS WILL BE GIVEN.
    SD

    Hi
    Defining the source system
As of release 640, you can use upper and lower case characters for R/3 user passwords. This is only uppercase characters for previous releases. Remember that your passwords are automatically converted to uppercase in previous Basis releases.
As BI 7.0 System has Basis 700 below, upper and lower case passwords are important.
So, for defining source system is almost same as ordinary BW Source System definitions.
One more important thing is that you have to take into account the EDI Ports. This may cancel your system definition if the <spsettings are not correct. This settings must be controlled on both BI and Source System.</p>
Here are the steps to configure Source System with Basis Relase lower than 640 in BI 70:
    1. Take a look at table EDIPORT of your BW system and note the next free number for the field "Port". This is the adjacent number of the highest entry like 'A0000000123' for example. In this case e.g. take '124'.
    2. Choose transaction "snum" and object "ediport".
Select "number ranges" from the menu "Goto" and here the button "status".
Change the CURRENT NUMBER of the ranges to the next free number you noted from table EDIPORT.
If the number range of your BW system is correct please check the same in your OLTP system.
    3. Call TCODE RSA1 on BI System in BI Client.
    4. Select Source Systems on Left Menu
    5. Left Click SAP System and Choose Create
    6. Important think is, as source system has Basis Release Lower than 640, You have to give All Passwords (For BI ALEREMOTE User and for Source System ALEREMOTE User) in UPPERCASE.
My Favourite is giving RFCCPIC for ALEREMOTE Passwords.
    7. It Must Be OK.
    Assign points if it helps

    Sumit

  • Issue in source system creation under sap node

    hi,
i am facing a strage issue here while creating a sap source system.
i have two development systems - bd1 for bi development, rd1 for r/3 development. rfc is propely maintained between both of the systems. now im creating the source sytsem under transaction rsa1 - source sytem - sap, i put in all the details and it prompts me to log in to the source system as well. it creates the system properly but the problem is that im creating it under the node sap and it goes under the node bi.
i have deleted it from there and repeated the same process again but still everytime it comes only under the node bi irrespectiv e of the thing that im creating it under sap.
this is the first time im facing this strange issue i have done the same process many time but never seen nething like this, does anyone have any idea for the same.
    kindly give ur inputs.
    thanks
    dipika

    Hi Dipika,
It is not an operational issue. Its just a display and should not have any problems.
Please go through the below SAP Note to fix the issue.

  • DB connect source system creation in BI

    Hi,
I would like to create a DB connect source system to an external MSSQL 2005 database in RSA1.
The external MSSQL 2005 database is setup using Windows Authentication mode.
Question: Which user actually should I specify when creating the source system in RSA1? or which user should I assign the db_ddladmin role in the external MSSQL database?
    Many thanks,
    YJ.

    Hi,
Please note the following with regard to the user:
To avoid problems loading data, proceed as follows:
    1. Create a special login for the extraction. You should add this login to the db_ddladmin database role in the
corresponding database. This generates a similar DB user at database level. The user you use must have the 'CREATE VIEW'
authorization at least.  This is contained in the role mentioned above.
    2. For the extraction, you should only use DB views that were  created under this DB user. (refer also to type conversion, naming
    convention and so on)
    3. Assign the necessary authorizations (SELECT at least) to the  selected user in the source tables, or the columns of these tables.
    4. Use the specially created login in the logon information when you set up the DB source system in BW.
You will find much more detailed information on how to setup the connection and known problems and issues in the
    attached note 512739.

  • Source system connection issues

    Hello BI Experts,
We had issues with the source system connection - from our BI system (NW 04s) to our R/3 system (ECC 6.0) .
From RSA1, when we right click on the R3 source sytem and do a "Check", it was erroring out: "Error in source system <Logsysname1>". This Logsysname1 was different one from the actual R/3 system's Logsys name (Logsysname2) .
To Fix this, we restored the connection by selecting the (R/3) Source system and right click and "Restore".
After providing the passwords for the RFC users, the system again asked "The Connection <XY> is used in the <Logsysname1> Source system as a connection." And we selected the "Delete" option here. Then in the Logon screen to R/3, we provided the administrator user Id and password.
Once the source system connection is complete, we checked the connection as mentioned above and the "Source Sytem connection is OK" now.
    (1) But now, in the transaction RSA1, the R/3 system is displayed under "BI" instead of "SAP".
    (2) When we asked our BI consultant to check the dataloads, he encountered an error: "No transfer structure is available for InfoSource <X> in the Source system. Errors in Source system".
How can we bring the R/3 system under "SAP" now?
If we delete the R/3 system (which is listed under BI) and recreate under "SAP", will the transfer rules will also get deleted?? How to avoid this issue?
    Please advise.
    John
    SAP Basis.

    Hi,
Please make sure that you have followed the below steps while creating the Source System
    1.     In the initial screen of the source system, choose Tools ® Administration ® User Maintenance ® Users and create a background user with a password and the authorization profile S_BI-WX_RFC.
    2.     Define the RFC destination parameters for the SAP source system in BW. To do this, choose Tools ® Administration ® Administration ® Network ® RFC Destinations in BW.
Enter the information taken from the source system on the server name.
    u2022     Application server: pswdf090
    u2022     System ID: IDF
    u2022     System number: 90
The destination name has to correspond to the logical name of the source system that you entered for the process step Define Logical System in the implementation guide for the source system. For user and password, enter the background user that you created in step 1.
    3.     Define the RFC destination parameters for the SAP BW in the source system. To do this, select Tools ® Administration ® Administration ® Network ® RFC Destinations in the source system. Enter the server name information taken from the BW system.
The destination name has to correspond to the logical name of the BW system that you entered in the process step Define Logical System in the BW Customizing Implementation Guide. ALE communicates using the name of the SAP Business Information Warehouse that you defined. The defined name represents how the SAP Business Information Warehouse is identified. For the user and password, enter the background user that you defined in the BW Customizing Implementation Guide under Business Information Warehouse ® Links to Other Systems ® Link Between SAP Systems and BW.
    4.     Test both RFC destinations with the functions Test ® Connection and Test ® Authorization.
If an error occurs during the authorization check, the background user is not permitted in this client and with this password. If an error occurs in the connection test, it means there is a network problem.
    5.     In the BW Administrator Workbench choose SOURCESYSTEMTREE ® Root ® Context Menu (right mouse button) ®Create and select the radio button for the manually creating an SAP source system.
    6.     Enter a description for the source system and the logical name of the source system that you entered for the process step Maintain Logical System in the source system implementation guide.
If you still have any issues, let us know.
    Regards,
    Yogesh.

  • R/3 source system creation error(Idoc is missing)

    Hi expert's.
i have created an r/3 source system in BI 7. but it's showing error when i am activating it.
    error as follows.
    1. Basic type ZSMA087 does not exist     EA     447
    2. Incorrect IDoc type ZSDF085 in the ALE definition of the source system     RSAR     373
for the above error 1 i checked in the RSBASIDOC table. it showing the idoc type. when i am checked with the source system that is r/3 system in the partner profile for logical system. it's showing the incorrect idoc type in RSSEND outbound parameters for that logical system
when i am changed that idoc type it's showing error as follows.
"entry RSSEND zsma087 does not exit in edimsg.
after that i checked with this table edimsg. for the rssend outbound option it's won't have the idoc type zsma087. table edit is also not possible on that.
so please help me to solve the issue.

  • RSA1 Source System Hierarchy Issue (SRCTYPE of RSBASIDOC)

    Dear Experts,
Greetings to you all and thanks in advance for your valuable responses!
I am stuck here with a BW issue again. The issue is:
We have a DS connection, which earlier used to get displayed under DATASERVICES node, but I don't who/what changed what/how and now it gets displayed under External System. No matter what I do, it still stays there and due to this we are having issues in Data Extraction.
This our DEV system and in QA we don't have this issue. I don't know what/where to compare.
Earlier, I had the same display issue (but that was an R/3 system) which was solved by 1087980. Still I tried:
    Deleted the entry with  RSAP_BIW_DISCONNECT.
Recreated the entry under Data Services node, but it still didn't work. It jumped back to External System.
I have compared the tables and found that the SRCTYPE in RSBASIDOC is responsible for all this it should be 'X' instead of 'B'.
Can we change this manually from SAP level? If yes, then how and if no, then is there any alternative?
    Thanks,
    Avishek

    Hi Avishek,
Check whether the sapnote 1692642 - Data Services source system for 3.x DataSources
is relevant to your system or not.
If relevant , then apply it and  recreate the source system.
    With Regards

  • Source System Connection Issue after BI 7 Upgrade

    Hi all,
We have just upgraded from BW 3.1 to BI 7.
After the upgrade, I checked the connection to our R3 4.6 source system.
It is now saying the following message:
Source system XXX is marked as inactive in BI.
Check failed for RFC connection XXX ; check destination
After going through the RFC connection, I tested the connection for this source system. It said OK. While doing the authorization test, it said: "Name or password is incorrect. Please re-enter".
The thing is that our name & password ARE correct definitely.
Is there any issues post upgrade because authorization stuff between R.3 4.6 (PI 2004.1 SP15) and BI 7?
    Any ideas?
    Thank you
    chris

    Hi,
as from NW7.0, passwords are case-sensitive.
If you define the passwords in the RFC in uppercase, it will work.
This is a problem when you link an 'old' (not NW 7.0) system to a NW 7.0 (as in this one, passwords are case-sensitive).

  • R/3 Source system creation for BW

    Hi Guru's,
How to create R/3 Source system in BW3.5(Version:IDES) of logical system name- T90CLNT090.
Please tell me what shud be the IP Address and Login details (Userid= ALE_MASTER). If possible plz give me the Password for user ALE_MASTER.
Points will be rewarded those give all the answers for questions mentioned above.
    Thank you.

    Hi Harshal,
You can choose to create a new R/3 source system using the first option (Automatic Creation). Here, you create a new destination and give the details of the new server details (your IDES system). This will create all the necessary ports and connections.
Here, you will need to create a system user (ALE_MASTER in your case). Setup this user as a system user in transaction SU01 before you start creating the connection to the new system. Create this user in both systems (BW and IDES).
Password for ALE_MASTER can be anything you set. Just remember the password if any maintenance of this user is needed in future.
    Hope this helps.
