Source system in Import manager

Hi Folks,
We have configured XI for R/3-MDM. When we are importing XML file from the XI folder in to the import manager we are getting all techanicals name in the source system
Like IDOC_ATTR_BEGIN,IDOC_E1LFA1M_ADNR..
But we need in normal name such as vendor number address etc.
Could you guys please help me where ,I have missed configuration in XI or in MDM to get the desired name in source system.
Thansk in advance
Rohit

HI,
But as i understand this all name reflect from the XSD files which we use in the XML format. If we change name there then it will be reflected in the name which we have changed.
If you have any XSD for vendor CREMAS then please share with me
[email protected]
As you ahve mentioned changing the name will be huge task do you ahve any other workaround .Because client requirnment is name should not reflect in the techanical name LFA1 but in normale name vendor.
Thanks,
Rohit

  • Accessing Unix folder while selecting source file in Import Manager,GUI

    Hi,
I am using MDM 5.5 sp04.I am trying to use MDIS to automat the importing process.
Challenge is to use a map in port which will be used by MDIS.
Our MDM server system is in Unix. How I can select input file residing in unix folders( say ready folder of Material) from IM tool drop down so as to save that map and assign that map in Port.
Is a file can be used from window folder in IM ,save the map and assign it in Inbound port ?
Is there will be an conflict in this case since MDIS will be receiving the file from Ready folder(in unix) but the map of the inbound port will be having the source in different folder in window?
    Appreciate your help/suggestion
    Reo

    Hello:
you shouldn't need to do that under MDIS. The thing is, use the Import Manager on windows to create the mapping file (importing a file also in windows)
When you created the mapping file, assign it to a port. Ports include a specific folder where you need to put the new file to be imported. Please refer to port documentation to find out where this folder is.
The map only has the "mapping structure", and the file will be taken from the port specification

  • Combining two source fields in Import Manager

    Hi,
I am trying to combine two source fields say fld1 with 5 digit and Fld2 with 3 digit so that combined fld3 of 8 digit can be mapped to a 8 digit field in destination MDM side.
Any suggestion how to do this is highly appreciated
    Thanks,
    -reo

    Hi Reo,
I am just adding details to how to combine fields in the import manager.
To combine two or more existing partitions for a destination node steps are as follows:
<b>1. </b>In the appropriate source hierarchy tree, select the node whose partitions you want to combine.
<b>2.</b> click on the Partition Field/Value tab to make it the active tab.
<b>3.</b> In the appropriate Partition list, select the two or more partition items you want to combine into a single partition.
<b>4.</b> Click on the Combine button, or right-click on one of the items and choose Combine Partitions from the context menu.
<b>5.</b> MDM combines the selected partition items.
<b>6.</b> Now you can map this partition directly to the destination field.
But as ur requirement seems ,u do not need to set delimiter.
Hope it will help you and let me know the results. please remark .
    Thanks,

  • How to load data using two maps for the same source file in Import Manager

    Hi,
I am trying to load the source data to MDM using two map files, since one map is too big (creating memory error).
However the first map data able to see after loading (SAP data) but when loading second map(nonSAP data) using the remote key to match the previously loaded SAP key ,even if MDM is processing the data it is not reflecting in data manager.
Is there any reason for this.
Appreciate your suggestion and tips on this.
    regrds,
    Reo

    Hi Reo,
As ur requirement seems,In the second pass perform recording matching by select default import action as "<b>update null fields only"</b> for those data records which are matching and "<b>create</b> " for those data records which are not matching with previous data records from SAP system.
If you define "update null fields only", then only the key of the new record from NON SAP will get appended to the existing record. And if you select "create" then it will create new records and will apply NON SAP key on it.
Please check the remote key values using data manager.Key is applied in the records or not.
Remember that import maps are client specific. Remote key comprises of both key and client system. So be sure that you are connecting to two different client systems.
I have tried this and this is working fine on my system.

  • Transport managment, source system changed in import

    Hi all,
i faced with the need to change the source system in transport management. I mean, dev source system to assign a different test system source. now is the following:
InfoPackage ZPAK_4MSK400H4M9FGMEKV9ZGDSN4M, source system LGDCLNT300 changed by source system LGTCLNT010 in import (tr STMS).
I'm looking for opportunities to change the target source systems LGPCLNT010.
Where can I find a setting to change the source system during the import?
    Thnx.
PS LGPCLNT010 source system already exists in test. only need to assign LGDCLNT300 (DEV) -> LGPCLNT010 (TEST).

    Hi,
The entries  are maintained in table RSLOGSYSMAP. Goto SM30 put the table name and click on maintain.
Or simply goto transport connection from RSA1 and click on "Conversion button" on tool bar.

  • MDM Import manager data sources

    Hi experts,
As far as I know MDM has ETL capabilities with MDM Import/syndicator tools that allows to load and extract data to and from MDM using files and relational databases as source/target.
What different kind of data sources supports MDM Import manager?
When should we work with SAP XI/PI?
When sould we work with ETL (Data Services as Data Integrator)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Abby

    Hi Abigail,
So, Could you please tell me if it's a common practice to import data in MDM using files?
for example as you said, We want to import data from R/3 to MDM using XML files that XI/PI generates?
Yes its a common practice to import data in MDM in files. Most common mode of data exchange is xml which has many advantages namely it is accepted open standard, allows to clearly separate content from form (appearance), is text-oriented,is Secure, is extensible,is self-describing, is universal; meaning internationalization is no problem and XML is a future-oriented technology.
In our business scenario, We have a SAP CRM with SQL server 2005 as a source. Could MDM automatically import data directly from SQL Server or it's a better practice to generate XML files with PI using the Import Port/folder?
One should always use a interface as business rules can possibly change and making a later change could be huge ask.
So PI can act a interface between MDM and CRM.
CRM supports Bdoc and PI can integrate with CRM with help of ABAP Proxies.
The following thread provides you in depth information on integration of the 2 systems:
    CRM-MDM Integration via XI

  • Differences between various source files in mdm import manager

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me the differences between the source files(access, xml, xml schema, excel) available in mdm import manager?
    Thanks and regards,
    Rithesh
    Edited by: rithesh_shet on Mar 30, 2010 1:04 PM

    Hi Ritesh,
MDM Import Manager provides flexibility to Import Data from different types of Sources into MDM.
You can import data into MDM from below mentioned sources using Import Manager:
    1. From Files (Access, Delimited Text, Excel, Fixed Text, XML and XML Schema)
    2. Directly from Data base source (SQL server and oracle)
As mentioned by Mandeep, XML Schema is something which you define in MDM console in advance. and then later select the Data source XML file and XML schema from drop down list (it will show all schema defined in console ) to validate XML source file against the XML schema.
For automated Import, Ports are used. Ports are nothing but a logical point of contact with other systems i.e. other systems or middleware will drop file on the port for authomatic import and MDM import server will scan the port directory and if file is present then will import data automatically from file into MDM using a predefine Import Map. (this map needs to be defined manually in import manager and then assigned to port using console).
Please check page no 45 of import manager reference guide for more details about various source properties of Import Manager.  (*link for import manager reference guide is already provided on the earlier post)
Also check, page no 53 to 64 for how to import process. Kindly revert if you have any query.

  • Map cannot be loaded in import manager | MDM

    Hi ,
I am trying to upload some data in customer repository (I am on MDM 5.5 SP05) . I have a few XML files (IDOCS) from customer master in an ECC system ,which I am providing as a source for the import manager . In the source preview I can see the following tables
    - DEBMAS06
    - E1KNVIM
    - E1KNVPM
Now when I try to open the import map 00_DEBMDM06_R3.map (standard map provided by SAP) it gives me an error message "the map cannot be loaded because table E1KNA1M is not a source" .
What do I need to get this file uploaded to the import manager ?
    Regards
    Deepak Singh

    Hi Maheshwari/Harrison ,
I tried giving the type as XML schema as you guys suggested but now the the import manager won't open at all and I get the following error " The element DEBMAS06 is used but not declared in the DTD/Schema " .
In the console inside the customer repository > Admin > XML schemas i have made sure that the schema name DEBMDM06 points to DEBMDM.DEBMDM06.xsd that is provided in the business content with the customer repository . Infact for all the schemas( lookup tables , bank check tables , customer check tables ) i have made sure they point to the right XSD's provided in the business content for the customer repository .
Now what do you guys think is the problem ?

  • Import two file with Import manager

    Hello expert MDM,
I needs  to import  two Source file from different systems (Navision and ERP 2005). I  am not using XI. but i have extract the both source manually and i have two XML-file with duplicate. I would like to import the both file with Import manager. I have import one file successfully. But I can not import the second file because the Button  "Get the second Source" is faded out. Could you give me Input how can I solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi badang,
To Import Second file please follow these steps:
In Import Manager after you import your first file then go to <b>File --> Connect to Source</b>  in import manager, a new window comes then specify your second file name and perform Import normally.
Regarding the Get the second source i found this documentation from reference guide:
The Port drop-down list includes an entry for each inbound port you define in the MDM Console for the selected Remote System; those that do not have files waiting or are locked by another user are disabled in the drop-down list. When you select a port, the
MDM Import Manager automatically selects the first source data file that is waiting to be processed; you can then use the Get Next Source File command to select each succeeding file.

  • Transport: Multiple Source Systems in QA

    Hi gurus,
I have developed in BW Dev Transfer Rules starting from one R/3 Dev Source System.
Now I need to transport BW Dev settings into BW QA system, where I have 4 R/3 QA Source Systems.
In RSA1 --> Transport Connection --> Conversion (F8) I can introduce only one record to map Dev Source System with QA Source System.
How can I define that the single Dev Source System must be translated into several QA Source System ?
    Is it possible ?
    Thank you in advance.
    Riccardo.

    Hi,
Import 4 times by having Different conversion Each time.
    And another thing:
Have you tried to create 4 Conversions at a time with same Source of source system and importing with these 4 conversions at a time. Even I too feel that it would not work. But you should try atleast once.

  • Retreive Next Source File in MDM Import Manager

    Hi all,
I am curious about the above feature in the MDM Import Manager. It can be found under File menu but I found that it is always greyed out even if I have selected multiple files. When I select multiple files, the system is clever enough to take all the records in the file so it doesn't seem to be used to move from one file to another. I couldn't find any information on the Import Manager guide so am trying this forum. Note that I have also searched on the forum before posting.
Appreciate if anyone can share their insight into this feature.
    Cheers!
    SF

    Hi SF,
Yes I too did not come accross any document about this.
However,I guess this is something which helps you in exception handling.
When you handle exception of a port and there are multiple files, then you need "connect to source" again and again.
It takes you to next exception file.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • Exporting and Importing Portal users from Source system to Target system

    Hi All,

    Hi,
If you look in to User.txt
I have role also i have deleted role in User.txt uploded file with rest of the otherdata including group it it able to create users.
so in Nut shell let's say
    1. UID-Murali
       Role- Manager
      Group- HRGroup
user existing  in DEV and i want to trnasfer data to PRD
Role:Manger should exist in PRD, and group is not mandatory optional
    but the link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/ae/7cdf3dffadd95ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm
says while uploading users role is optional it throws waring but i got error.
    i am bit confused.
Now let's sau there are 10 users, 10 roles and 2 groups in source system if i want to export all users, roles, groups to target system what sequnce i have to follow without getting any error , warining is there any restriction on number of users, roles, groups i know file size should be less than 1MB.
    Points are on the way.

    Hi vinod kumar,
i hope you need to map source system From QAS to DEV system,
genereally from DEV to QAS configuration will be there, but here request is moving from QAS to DEV so i think this should be configured.
RSA1-> Tools -> conversion of logical system names -> maintain original system and target system name for both BI and ECC systems.
