Source system issues post BW System Copy

Hi Team,
Post BW System Copy, we have observed that the RFC connection has changed.
However the Target Host port is maintained same as the required source system...
While checking the Connection, we are getting the following error messages:

Hi Arun,
Thanks..
Your solution worked for all the datasources except one wherin I am getting a error message while activating the Transformation as "System setting does not allow changes to be made to the object XXXXXXX"
Please note the Transformation is in the ACTIVE but NOT EXECUTABLE state.
Find below the details description on the issue.
Message no. TO128
Diagnosis
The system and namespace change option set for this SAP System does not allow any changes to be made to object RSFO 4L8RD1B5MKEQI3WSPE5S8MR2O.
System Response
Editing is terminated, the object can only be displayed.
Procedure
If you want to edit the object RSFO 4L8RD1B5MKEQI3WSPE5S8MR2O in this SAP System, have your system administator set the SAP System to "modifiable" for this object.
This can affect the modifiability of the namespace &1 or the namespaces that correspond to the pattern &1, as well as the global setting of the system change option.
The system change option is set using the Transport Organizer tools (Transaction SE03). Expand the Administration node and execute the program Set system change option. The options are described there.

  • Problem restoring source system connection post BW system copy

    Hi.
I am having problems restoring the R/3 connection in our BW system.
    This is the scenario.
We need to move our BW production system onto a new system, but keep both BW connected to R/3 production for testing etc until cutover to our new BW system.
Basis performed a system copy and restore of BW production to the new system and ran BDLS.
When I try to restore the R/3 connection via RSA1 I am getting the following error at the end-
"A connection already exists there ......." and the message refers to our current/live BW system. The options are to delete the existing or not delete. I have only chosen "do not delete" and therefore the connection is not restored. My concern is that if I choose "delete" this will damage my existing connection between R/3 and the currently live BW system which is we cannot afford to do.
In our newly copied BW system we are using the existing R/3 SM59 (from system copy), and in R/3 we have created a new SM59 for our new BW system.
It seems from the error message information that is complains that BW sent R/3 some sort of ID (value = "WS") and that is already taken by the existing BW system. I tried to find where and what this WS value is referring to and the only thing I have found is that in table RSBASISIDOC "WS" is the suffix for transfer structure for that R/3 system. ??? Not sure if this is related for what.
    Thanks for any help

    Hi ,
Please check with basis or if you can ,then try to restore the source system in BI/BW.This should correct the  inconsistencies between the two systems which is being caused by different Idoc types
Also check the table RSBASIDOC in the BI system and compare this to R/3 system ,the "basic type" field should be same.
A restore should work,it has always worked for me.

  • Post BI System Refresh steps- RSA1 issue

    Hello All,
I am doing the post system copy for BI system. We did our system copy for both BI and ECC in parallel.
Now I am unable to Restore the Source system in RSA1 by right clicking, when i do that it i can get upto the steps where it prompts me to log in as admin to the source system which is fine, checked rfc is also fine. In the final step i get a  message that says "Source system does not exist" . All the logical names have been changed using BDLS and RFC connections are reconfigured too.
This is what I have done so far:
-Ran BDLS (both in Target EEC/BI) , same in ECC.
-Changed Source system logical name for Mysource.
-I also changed the entries in Table RSLOGSYSDEST in Target BI.
After doing some research I found that table RSBASIDOC table in Target (ECC) system, there are still entries copied from u201CSource u201D systems , and we need to deleted those old source system connections by running RSAP_BIW_DISCONNECT functional module with the following parameters in ECC (target ECC):
    I_BIW_LOGSYS = <RLOGSYS>
    I_OLTP_LOGSYS = <SLOGSYS>
    I_FORCE_DELETE = 'X'
I tried doing this .....when i execute this FM in ECC (target system) it prompts me to log on to the Source BI system , is this normal? I am little hesitant about this if it would delete some tables/objects in BI sytems.. can anyone pls tell me if this is normal?
Since there are stilll some entries in RSBASIDOC in Target ECC systems with old connections entries, could this be the reason why I am unable to restore the Source system in Target BI system in RSA1.? if not what else could be the issue here?
Please suggest...i would appreciate your help...

    hello all,
I found out that the source system client setting was closed in SCC4, after changing i could get pass this hurdle...now i am in RSA1 trying to restore the sourece sysem. I tried to do restore and it asked me if i wanted to activate/replicate datasources too..and i chose yes..it took about 3-4 hours and was still running so i finally killed the session. Should i delete the existing Source sytem or Restore? can anyone tell me if i Restoer the source system then do i also need to select Reactivat/Replicate Datasourcess too? please give me some suggestions thanks.

  • Middleware issues due to System copy on ERP

    Hi Middlewware Gurus,
We are currently on CRM 5.2 and the backend ERP system is 4.6C. In our project we are currently exchanging only BP data but going forward we will exchanging Sales Quotation and Materials. Currently the CRM system is not live but the ERP system is live and the client has a process for overlaying their ERP QAS with the Production system every month. We recently have installed the CRM QAS system and connected it with the ERP QAS system. But before downloading any data into CRM, client has done a system copy of ERP Prod to ERP QAS. Due to this the logical system names got changed and outbound queues in ERP were failing with an error. Based on our experiences in earlier projects, we ran BDLS in the ERP QAS and our problem got solved.
Because of the huge data in the ERP system, the BDLS Tx. ran for almost 6 hrs for which client is against doing so. We would be facing this issue with Logical System everytime there is a system copy of ERP Prod onto ERPQAS. Is there a way to identify the tables that for relevant for CRM Middleware and update the Logical system directly in those tables using a custom progrm. With this approach, we will be eliminating the long runtimes for executing BDLS. With BDLS, you have to again bring the system down and lock out the users. One table which I could identify is CRMPRLS. If anyone has a list of those tables or know a way to identify these tables, please let me know.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Martin,
You can follow SAPINST to export your source database and import the same into target database as you have performed in your ABAP+JAVA system.
In case you want to go with option of attaching/detaching database, you should refer the following SAP notes.
Note 151603 - Copying an SQL Server database
Above note has steps to perform the database copy using attach/detach method.
Note 767691 - Migration of SAP Systems to/from MS SQL Server

  • Reconnect of a R/3 source system afer a BW system copy

We want to copy our BW 3.0b development system as a BW sandbox system in order to try out the BW 3.5 migration.
Therefore, we performed a system copy of our BW DEV system to a new machine. On the BW-side we ran BDLS to get a new logical name for the system and defined a RFC connection to our R/3 Dev Source System (incl. appropriate RFC users).
On the R/3 side we also defined an additional RFC connection to the "new - just copied" BW-system.
While trying to reconnect our R/3 Devopment source system within the new BW we encountered the problem that the R/3 system recognized that there already exists a connection to a BW (the old BW dev). If we take this option, the old connection is deleted and a new one is defined. However, from the R/3 perspective we want two BWs connected. It seems the problem has to do with the IDOCs and TRFC port definitions, because the IDOC type ZRSBW010 seems to point to the wrong system.
Unfortunately, we are stuck at the moment.
Any kind of help or hints to relevant SAP documents would be much appreciated.
In the OSS we found some notes on this topic (325525 etc.) but we still not sure how to proceed.
However, in general, we think it shouldn't be a problem to have one R/3 connected to several BW's or is it?
Frank Schülke, E.ON Ruhrgas IT, Germany

We worked out this scenario.  Our solution came with an interpretaion of SAP documentation including SAP Note 886102, obsolete (but informative) SAP Note 184754, and the document How to... System Copy in SAP Business Intelligence System Landscapes - May 2005.
    Basically the steps are...
-Using the BW transport collector in the source BW system, collect, release, and export all objects related to the R/3 source system.
-Perform the system copy of the source BW system to the target BW system.
-Change SM59 destinations in the target BW system to the R/3 source systems to invalid hostnames.
-Delete the R/3 source system definitions from the target BW system (the nonsensical hostnames in SM59 ensure you will not make any changes in the actual R/3 source systems).
-Use BDLS to change the logical system in your target BW system.
-Recreate the R/3 source system definitions in the target BW system, this step will make corresponding config for the target BW system in the R/3 source system.  It is important here to activate and replicate.
-Ensure that table RSLOGSYSMAP has the correct entries for your R/3 source systems
-Import the objects you collected in the first step into your target BW system.

  • Prod source system issue

    Dear All,
I have an issue in production system.
We applied a patch in BI prod and r3 prod for data lineage...but after that all process chains failed when i checked in source system connection ...there was no connection..
Now i want to restore my r3 prod source system in BI system Please tell me how to do that.
    regards
    shweta

    Hello,
First check in SM59 whether the connection for the source system exits. If it does not then contact the BASIS team for connection.
If the connection is fine, then you can right click on the source system in BI and choose restore option.
But beware restoring with set the timestamp for all the datasources for that source system.
It will take time as it will replicate and activate all the datasources.

  • Windows Server 2012 - Hyper-V - Cluster Sharded Storage - VHDX unexpectedly gets copied to System Volume Information by "System", Virtual Machines stops respondig

We have a problem with one of our deployments of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V with a 2 node cluster connected to a iSCSI SAN.
    Our setup:
Hosts - Both run Windows Server 2012 Standard and are clustered.
HP ProLiant G7, 24 GB RAM. This is the primary host and normaly all VMs run on this host.
HP ProLiant G5, 20 GB RAM. This is the secondary host that and is intended to be used in case of failure of the primary host.
We have no antivirus on the hosts and the scheduled ShadowCopy (previous version of files) is switched off.
    iSCSI SAN:
    QNAP NAS TS-869 Pro, 8 INTEL SSDSA2CW160G3 160 GB i a RAID 5 with a Host Spare. 2 Teamed NIC.
    Switch:
DLINK DGS-1210-16 - Both the network cards of the Hosts that are dedicated to the Storage and the Storage itself are connected to the same switch and nothing else is connected to this switch.
    Virtual Machines:
    3 Windows Server 2012 Standard - 1 DC, 1 FileServer, 1 Application Server.
1 Windows Server 2008 Standard Exchange Server.
All VMs are using dynamic disks (as recommended by Microsoft).
    Updates
We have applied the most resent updates to the Hosts, VMs and iSCSI SAN about 3 weeks ago with no change in our problem and we continually update the setup.
    Normal operation:
Normally this setup works just fine and we see no real difference in speed in startup, file copy and processing speed in LoB applications of this setup compared to a single host with two 10000 RPM Disks. Normal network speed is 10-200 Mbit, but occasionally
we see speeds up to 400 Mbit/s of combined read/write for instance during file repair.
    Our Problem:
Our problem is that for some reason a random VHDX gets copied to System Volume Information by "System" of the Clusterd Shared Storage (i.e. C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1\System Volume Information).
All VMs stops responding or responds very slowly during this copy process and you can for instance not send CTRL-ALT-DEL to a VM in the Hyper-V console, or for instance start task manager when already logged in.
This happens at random and not every day and different VHDX files from different VMs gets copied each time. Some time it happens during daytime wich causes a lot of problems, especially when a 200 GB file gets copied (which take a lot of time).
    What it is not:
We thought that this was connected to the backup, but the backup had finished 3 hours before the last time this happended and the backup never uses any of the files in System Volume Information so it is not the backup.
    An observation:
When this happend today I switched on ShadowCopy (previous files) and set it to only to use 320 MB of storage and then the Copy Process stopped and the virtual Machines started responding again. This could be unrelated since there is no way to see
how much of the VHDX that is left to be copied, so it might have been finished at the same time as I enabled  ShadowCopy (previos files).
    Our question:
Why is a VHDX copied to System Volume Information when scheduled ShadowCopy (previous version of files) is switched off? As far as I know, nothing should be copied to this folder when this functionis switched off?

Please only answer our question and do not offer any general optimization tips that do not directly adress the issue! We want the problem to go away, not to finish a bit faster!

    Hallo Lawrence!
Thankyou for youre reply, some comments to help you and others who read this thread:
First of all, we use Windows Server 2012 and the VHDX as I wrote in the headline and in the text in my post. We have not had this problem in similar setups with Windows Server 2008 R2, so the problem seem to be introduced in Windows Server 2012.
These posts that you refer to seem to be outdated and/or do not apply to our configuration:
    The post about Dynamic Disks:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee941151(v=WS.10).aspx is only a recommendation for Windows Server 2008 R2 and the VHD format. Dynamic VHDX is indeed recommended by Microsoft when using Windows Server 2012 (please look in the optimization guide
    for Windows Server 2012).
Infact, if we use fixed VHDX then we would have a bigger problem since fixed VHDX are generaly larger then Dynamic Disks, i.e. more data would be copied and that would take longer time = the VMs would be unresponsive for a longer time.
The post "What's the deal with the System Volume Information folder"
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2003/11/20/55764.aspx is for Windows XP / Windows Server 2003 and some things has changed since then. for instance In Windows Server 2012, Shadow Copies cannot be controlled by going to Control panel -> System.
Instead you right-click on a Drive (i.e. a Volume, for instance the C drive/Volume) in Computer and then click "Configure Shadow Copies".
Windows Server 2008 R2 Backup problem
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsbackup/thread/0fc53adb-477d-425b-8c99-ad006e132336 - This post is about the Antivirus software trying to scan files used during backup that exists in the System Volume Information folder and we do not
have any antivirus software installed on our hosts as I stated in my post.
    Comment that might help us:
So according to “System Volume Information” definition, the operation you mentioned is Volume Shadow Copy. Check event viewer to find Volume Shadow Copy related event logs and post them.
    Why?
Furhter investigation suggests that a volume shadow copy is somehow created even though the Schedule for Shadows Copies is turned off for all drives. This happens at random and we have not found any pattern. Yesterday this operation took almost all available
disk space (over 200 GB), but all the disk space was released when I turned on scheduled Shadow Copies for the CSV.
    I therefore draw these conclusions:
The CSV Volume has about 600 GB of disk space and since Volume Shadows Copy used 200 GB, or about 33% of the disk space, and the default limit is 10% then I conclude that for some reason the unscheduled Volume Shadow Copy did not have any limit (or ignored
    the limit).
When I turned on the Schedule I also change the limit to the minimum amount which is 320 MB and this is probably what released the disk space. That is, the unscheduled Volume Shadow Copy operation was aborted and it adhered to the limit and deleted the
Volume Shadow Copy it had taken.
I have also set the limit for Volume Shadow Copies for all other volumes to 320 MB by using the "Configure Shadow Copies" Window that you open by right clicking on a drive (volume) in Computer and then selecting "Configure Shadow Copies...".
It is important to note that setting a limit for Shadow Copy Storage, and disabaling the Schedule are two different things! It is possible to have unlimited storage for Shadow Copies when the Schedule is disabled, however I do not know if this was the case
Before I enabled Shadow Copies on the CSV since I did not look for this.
I now have defined a limit for Shadow Copy Storage to 320 MB on all drives and then no VHDX should be copied to System Volume Information since they are all larger than 320 MB.
Does this sound about right or am I drawing the wrong conclusions?

There is something strange about the limits on the Secondary host!
I have not in any way changed the settings on the Secondary host and as you can see, the Secondary host has a maximum limit of only 35 MB storage on the CSV, but it also shows that this is 10% of the Volume. This is clearly not the case since 10% if 600
    GB = 60 GB!
The question is, why does it by default set a too small limit (i.e. < 320 MB) on the CSV and is this the cause of the problem? I.e. is the limit ignored since it is smaller than the smallest amount you can provide using the GUI?
Is the default 35 MB maximum Shadow Copy limit a bug, or is there any logical reason for setting a limit that according to the GUI is too small?

  • Source System changes from SAP System to BI Warehouse on ECC activation

We are in the process of building a new development environment from an existing development environment.
After copying from system backup in the new development environment we performed BDLS to map to new source systems. At this point of time the source system for ECC ("SAP System from Release 3.0E" was changed to type "SAP Business Information Warehouse".
    Why does this happen?
    How can we prevent this?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello.
Please check the following note if ti can be helpful to fix this issue.

  • Source System Refresh with BW system Connected

    Hi SDN Gurus,
We are doing a source system refresh for CRM 5.0 Production to CRM Quality. My question is the source system of the BW system will be Changed and the BW Quality will have old data. What are the Post Activities which needs to be done in BW 7.0 system after the CRM system is refreshed.
So that the Quality BW system which will be now Production can have fresh data from Production System of CRM.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi Ravi,
    Thanks for the same.
I have another issue. My CRM Reports BI 7.0 is being displayed in Enterprise Portal, We have defined variables for user entry and they can select the values from the selection screen of the variable.
Let's say we have 80 thousand records and we have variable let's say Client Name, where the user wants to select his client name and display records for that client. The Screen shows him only 72 rows of data i.e nearly 1000 records of Client Name. But we have nearly 20000 client names, and only 1000 client names are being displayed to select from. If he does a filter (eg: A, it displays all the names starting with A, but when we say B or C*, though the data is available in the ODS table, those client name is not displayed in the Screen.
My question is how to Display all the Values or atleast when he gives A* or B* or Z* it should display those Names, so that he can see the records for those client Name.
I have done all sorts of R&D to achieve this but in Vain.
Please help me to sort this.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Business system issue

    Hi All,
I am working on SAP PI 7.31 dual stack ( SP8).
Our non- Prod SLD ( dev and QA)  is pointing to QA system. Basis team have created one Third party Business System in QA System SLD .
The issue is while importing the Business system in  Dev system i am not able to see the required Business system.
Moreover while checking the QA system i can see the same Buisness system present in the import queue of QA system.
I have done the SLD cache refresh and also done the delta cache refresh as well!
Can some one please help me out in this or anyone faced this issue before please revert back.
Thanks for your inputs on this.
    Rgards
    Prashanthi

    Hi
Normally the transport path is like that
    Dev----> quality--->production
In the SLD, the business system mapping should be like this
    Source               target
DEV BS            QA and PRD PS
    QA BS              PRD BS
How you are importing the business system in DEV ? by using transport ? have u check the log of transport request in SE01 or SE10
You can directly assign the business system in dev
Goto  Business System--right click and select assign business system-->select the business system from SLD.

  • Two BW system to one OLTP system connection issue.

We are upgrading our BW systems to BI 7.0.
We are planning for a parallel Break-fix path. so we made a copy of our BW dev system(BW1)
BW2 is a copy of BW1 and plan to upgrade it to BI 7.0 .we plan to retire BW1 after upgrade is completed. When we try to restore connection for R/3 sourcesystem(S01), it gives a message with DELETE and DO NOT DELETE option
" The connection EA is used in S01 sourcesystem as a connection BW1 to BW
Do you want to delete this connection in the source system
The connection is restored after it is deleted successfully."
If i select "delete" it deletes connection to BW1 and restores connection to BW2, but if i select "do not delete" it is not creating a connection for BW2.
How do i restore connection for BW2 to S01 without deleting the connection For BW1 to S01.
I need to connect BW1 and BW2 to S011.Please let me know How can we do this?
    Thanks

  • How to copy a structure from one SAP system to other SAP system in ABAP

    Hi All,
We have a requriement where need to copy an strcture of 250 feilds from on SAP system to other SAP system , do any one know how to do it .
    Regards
    Channu

    Channappa,
It is really not hard to manually create the structure. Ctrl-Y copy from the source system screen and paste in the target system screen. You'll have to do this one page at a time. So, you will have to repeat it 9 times (or 18 times if you have to copy/paste component list and type separately).
I can assure you that you can finish the task in less than 30 minutes.

  • Is anyone with an "average" system (see post) NOT getting severe slowdowns?

With all the posts about slow-downs with LR 2.0, I was just wondering if anyone with an "average" system was NOT seeing these slowdowns when doing things like using the brush, which a LOT of people report not being able to use due to performance issues. By "average," I mean a fast P4 or some form of Core2Duo, and 2GB.
So far, the only posts I've seen reporting crisp response with the brush tool are from people using very fast Quad core systems and a lot of RAM, which is way, WAY beyond the "recommended" specs according to Adobe. I'm trying to figure out whether or not this is just a system speed issue, or if something else is causing these issues on some systems. If it IS a system speed issue, it would be interesting to find out what the "real world" minimum specs are, and what specific aspect of a system is causing these slowdowns.
On this note, I find it hard to believe that an average Core2Duo system couldn't run ANY of the LR tools without any slowdown problems. LR just doesn't strike me as "that" demanding of app compared to other apps like 3D or video editing/effects programs that run fine on the same system.
    Thanks,
    Larry

I have an old 1.7 Tosh Lap top with 2gig and a bog standard dual core (2.3x2)also with 2gig, running XP on both, and I can run everything I want through LR2 with a speed that is fine by me.
The Brush, since seeing a post on how to turn off the red automask, I've switched it on, and now monitor the progress of the brush work, saying that on Nikon d300 Nefs, I have had no issues, for me.
Now it's not instantaneous, but then I have nothing to compare it against....so speed is okay.....
I have considered to get a Quad core for £100, which should be a straight swap out, but then, I'm happy at the moment....
Sync is slow and horrible, but once its done, that should be the end of it....
I did take the plunge and save all LR1.4.1 to metadata, then built LR2 database from scratch. Took a couple of days, and the same for previews, but well, I had the time....
Never export out of LR2 to other programs so do not really know if it works or not on my system.
