Source system question.

Hi Experts,
In the context menu of the source system in RSA1, there are 2 options called 'Transfer global settings' and 'Transfer exchange rates' . What is the function of these 2 options and in what scenarios are they useful?
Thanks

  • Prepare the Source System question (for Cloning)

    Hi,
Could anybody tell me if during the phase:
    # Prepare the Source System
Execute the following commands to prepare the source system for cloning.
    1. Prepare the source system database tier for cloning
Log on to the source system as the ORACLE user and run the following commands:
    cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/scripts/<CONTEXT_NAME>
    perl adpreclone.pl dbTier
the middle tier must be DOWN or is not important ? Do we need to be in maintenance mode too ?
    Thanks,
    Paul

ok, but if I add some space to a file in a tablespace
is not need to run pre-clone, right ? The same thing
if I copied the files in a place (for cloning) before
modifying the physical structure of the DB ... I can
use these files right (all the files was copied) ?- Changing the datafile/tablespace size after running preclone --> In this case you still need to run preclone again before copying files to the target node.
    - Copying files before chaning the physical structure (after running preclone) --> In this case you do not have to run preclone again.

  • Question to Transferring Global Settings from Source Systems

    1) When we do this steps, we found the following information as follows, so the question is that which fields that we should maintain?
    BW User ALE
    Debugging User
    BEx order number
    Releasest. hier
    Monitor initial
    Last IDoc no.
    Last IS-Nr.
    XPRA executed
    Lock Mangr Logs
    MD: Sing. Rec. Inst
    RFC BI Accelerator
    2) If we maintain some of fields should we do something before, and how? e.g. we know BW user ALE = aleremote, so should we maintain aleremote user using SU01 both in R/3 and BW before we do Transferring Global Settings from Source Systems
    Thanks for the answer.

Is anyone know how to setting Transferring Global Settings from Source Systems, your answer will be high appreciate.

  • Question Related to Source System of BI7 Technical Content

    Hi Experts,
I activated BI7 Technical contents using SPRO Transaction.
    Activation is successfull.
My question is that I could now find two source systems for
each activated Datasource of Technical Content(One BI self source system and another R3 source system). Is that right?
I thought that BI statistics wil be based on only BI as a
    source system.
    Please help me in this.
    Thanks,
    Senoy
Edited by: senoy laxman on Aug 19, 2008 3:29 PM

This is because, before actiavtion of technical content, those TWO source systems were already assigned (Check Boxes 'ON')...under
RSA1 --> Business Content --> 'EDIT" menu --> Source System Assignment --> see those check boxes 'ON' for BI self source system and R3 source system.
U r right..BI statistics wil be based on only BI as a source system.

  • Question to assigning Source System for Activation

We want to assign source system for activation, before business content-InfoObject catalog activation. The steps as follows:
1.On the Data Warehousing Workbench: Business Content view from the menu choose Edit &#61672; Source System Assignment.->This step is ok, no question.
    2. In the Choose source system by default? dialog box select the checkbox in the column Default assignment in the row containing the source systems you need to load data from.->Now we can see BI system as default call DEGCLNT500 displayed, in my case we only connect one R/3 system call DHHCLNT100 to BI system.
So, the question to that is shoud we select both R/3 source system and BW source system as default or just select R/3 source system as default and dis-select BW source system?
Which one should we choose, both or only R/3 source system?
    Pls help, thanks!

    Hi hi ni,
If what you are activating it's going to retrieve data only from R/3, then select R/3 and uncheck BW.
You can change this whenever you want, if in the future you need bw, before activating, you can change it.
This doesn't means where is going to get the data from, this is just to look for active (and replicated) datasources to connect to the business content you are activating.
    Hope this helps.

    Diego

  • Question to Maintaining Source System IDs

We go to RSA1, and choose Assignment source system to source system ID in toolbar, system display source system ID field and Source system ID text field. So the question to this activity is that is this Source system ID flexible, not fixed.
    1) E.g.in our case BW source system call THTCLNT100, so could we just use TH100 as source system.
    2) Once we create one source system in BW system under Source system Tab, should we also follow this steps, namely Maintaining Source System IDs for this new created source system?
    Thanks for the answer.
Edited by: hi ni on Apr 14, 2008 5:39 PM

    Hi,
as far as I know, the id can only be a character of length 2 so in your case just TH or T1 or something else. It's normally up to you. Once maintained it cannot be changed anymore.

  • Question about source system copy for BW

    Dear all,
I have a quick question about copying a source system for BW.
We have two clients in the source ERP:
    100 Customizing
    200 Testing
Our BW is only linked to client 200, so when we now delete client 200 and make a copy from 100 to 200, are we then still able to restore the source system connection so that our extraction will work, or will it fail, as in client 100 I have no BW related (except the cross-client-objects like datasource) information, that can be used for a possible restore of this connection.
What is the procedure in this case?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

Unfortunately, you will lose your source connection and need to create a new one in R/3.  You can use the same source system name in BW, but check the source system connection after the copy (SM59).  Also, I would "Restore" the source system (in BW, right-click on Source system in RSA1, and click "Restore") to insure the datasources get replicated from R/3 to BW.
Depending on how much you want your BW and R/3 systems to be in synch, you will need to rebuild all your data providers (cubes/ODS's) from your R/3 system.  This means deleting all the data and running the initializations from scratch.  At the very least, you will need to rebuild the delta queues.
Curious, if 100 is just for customizing, is there any data in it?  Are you just creating a new blank client 200?

  • A question about item "type and release" of  source system creation

    Hello expert,
I have a question about item "type and release" of  source system creation.
As we know, when we create a web servie source system, there will display a pop-up which includes three items as "logical system","source system"and "type and release".
About the item "type and release",when we push "F4" button, there will be three default selections as below:
    "ORA 115     Oracle Applications 11i
    TLF 205     Tealeaf 2.05B
    XPD 020     SAP xPD".
Who can tell me when and how should I use the three selections.
And also I attempted to input the item by some optional letters except the default three selections and it seems that I can input it freely.
    Thank you and Best Regards,
    Maggie

    Hello DMK,
Thank you very much for your answer. It is very helpful for me.
Can I ask you further about it?
I got that it is a semantic description item.
You said the default selections are set by our basis people.Would you like to tell me how should we creat a new value except the default ones for item "type and release"?Only by inputing the value in the item directly? But you see we canot see the new value item we created by ourself when we push "F4" button next time ,is that ok?Or do we have to ask basis people to define one new value item just like the default seletions before we use it.
Also if possible would you like to describe detail about "This becomes important when you are troubleshooting certain issues especially when RFC connection problems."
    Thank you and Best Regards,

  • Question about Note 886102 - Empty the delta queue of the connected SAP source systems

    Dear expert
I'm doing the system refresh from ECC PRD to QAS using the hot backup of PRD
Before i start the database restore i was told to do the following step since this ECC has connection with one BW system
    -----------------------Step -----------------------------
    2.17 SAP note 886102 scenario C3
Empty the delta queue for all of the connected BW systems.
Execute all delta info packages two times on BW side, to clean up the delta queue in the source system. This is needed, because BDLS cannot rename the still available LUW-s in the qRFC queue.
    ----------------------Step-----------------------
But unfortunately i missed to execute this step
And the Q11 is now retoreing the backup of the database
    My quesion
    1. what will be bad consequence due to not execute this step? any way to makeup this error?
    Best regards,

    Hi Kate,
The probably issue which I could forsee is data getting wrongly updated into production if RFC connection from ECC to BW is not stopped.
Solution here could be to disable or deletethe RFC connections between ECC and BW before starting the SAP system at database level.
    delete from sapr3.rfcdes where rfcdest = '<name>';
Once the system is up and running you can recreate them if required.
Also before starting SAP set the number of batch processes to 0 on the profile at OS level so that any released jobs don't start as soon as SAP is up.
Once the SAP system is up execute BDLS and change the logical system name.
    Hope this helps.

  • Quick question on conversion of source system after transport.

    hello all,
I have transported all my objects from dev to QA in BW (and same in r/3). Now i want to let it all go to production environment. So do I have to go in rsa1 of BW prod system and make a entry in there ?
In my BWQAS i have an entry in there
Original source system               Target source system
    R3DCLNT100                               R3QCLNT100.
So when i make the entry in BW prod environment what should be source system R3D or R3Q?
    Thanks,
    Raj

It must be R3D (dev system)
Something like following should be maintained in production
R3DCLNT100 <u>R3PCLNT100</u> [Assuming R3PCLNT100 is your production system]

  • Multiple DataTargets in a BI 7.0 System to One DataSource in Source System

Currently, I do not have access to BI 7.0 system.  I am wondering whether it is possible to connect MULTIPLE DataTargets of a single BI 7.0 system to ONE DataSource in the source system?  I have searched the forum, but I couldn't find relevant posts.  If I am not wrong, until BW 3.5, once a DataSource is assigned to an InfoSource, it can not be assigned to any other InfoSource of the same BW system.  I have heard that this has changed in BI 7.0 with the new DataFlow concept.
The current requirement is that multiple DataTargets of a single BI system need to get DELTA data from the same DataSource in the source system.  If this is technically possible in BI 7.0, should the source system also support such an assignment (since the DELTA load timestamps are maintained in the source system)?  What source systems currently support this feature, if any?  What are the appropriate tables in the source system that I need to look at to do further investigation?
All the useful inputs regarding these questions will be rewarded with points.  Let me know if you need any further clarification of the requirement.  Thanks!
    Sameer

    Hi Sameer,
But since there is only one transformation between the PSA and DataTarget, all the data (irrespective of the indicator) will flow through unless I filter on the "planning stage" indicator
You can create one transformation between Datasource and ONE DataTarget. But in your case, you have TWO datatargets. So you have to create two DTP's which can have diffrent filter parameters.
You can fill two different targets ( cube1: before manual update, cube2: after manual update) using your datasource.
For this, you need to create two transformation. Keep in mind, everytime you create a transformation you must create a DTP for data movement.
    So you will have:
    DS1 -- TRANS1-- DTP1 --Cube1
    DS1 -- TRANS2DTP2Cube 2
In DTP1 set  filter for indicator :X and DTP2 set  filter for indicator :Y. Both DTP1 and DTP2 should work in delta mode.
I would suggest you to create one initialization for your DS1. if it is not possible create two infopackages for two initializations. I suppose you have the indicator in selection parameters of infopackages.

  • Transformation issue while connecting multiple source system of same type..

    Hi,
I'm working on APO-BW integration project. I want to connect BW QA & BW PROD to APO QA. I've already connected BW QA to APO QA & it is fetching data correctly. RFC part & other BASIS part is already taken care of. I've done export datasource (for mater data, cube etc) in BW PROD & replicated in APO QA. All BW PROD datasources are imported as RSDS (7.X) in APO QA.
Now my question is how to make sure the transformations will take source system as BW PROD too? I want 2 datasources (one from BW QA & other from BW PROD) to connect to same inforprovider in APO. I've transported 7.x datsource from APO DEV to APO QA environment along with transformations. In conversion of logical system names in APO QA I've given source system -BW DEV & target system - BW QA. So the transformation automatically takes data source as BW QA. It doesn't take source-system - BW DEV & target system - BW PROD as it conflicts previous setting.
Is only option that I need to manually maintain transformation from BW PROD datasource or there's another better alternative?

    HI,
You are getting multiple IDOCs into BPM. But output you are getting one message right? IF so, your N:1 Mapping is not done correctly.
i.e your target message type should have occurence of 1..n and also the interface mapping. Closely obsever the N:1 mapping done in the BpmPatternCollectMerge.
Also go to SXMB_MONI->PE and check the Technical Details to make sure that, you are getting multiple IDOCs and you are executing the N:1 Transformation step correctly.
Also in the N:1 Mapping, check out the context you used. Make it root .  Then test the mapping independently in the Integration Repository.
    Hope it helps,

  • How to Load Master Data Text  from Multiple Source Systems

Situation:  Loading vendor master (text) from two systems.  Some of the vendor keys/number are the same and so is the description.  I understand that if I was loading Attributes, I could create another attribute such a source system id and compound it to 0Vendor.  However, I don't believe you can do the same when loading text.
Question:  So, how can I load duplicate vendor keys and description into BW using the *_TEXT datasource so they do not overwrite?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Don't doubt, it'll work!
Sys ID as compound to 0Vendor.
If you doubt about predefined structure of the *_TEXT datasource and direct infosource, then use a flexible infosource. Maybe you'll have to derive the sys ID in a routine or a formula.
    Best regards,
    Eugene

  • How to create Source Systems in BI or RFC ??

    Hi Gurus,
I want to load data from an R/3 connection to BI.
Now i have modified my Datasources in R/3 side.
Question is how i connect R/3 to BI ?
I will have to create RFC Connection , Yes ?
I did following steps , so far, PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO ???
1 To call the RFC we have to create destination.
Means Source system and Target system.
Source System: From where we are calling the RFC i.e. Source system. = R/3
Target System: To where it is calling i.e. Target system. = BI
    2. In Source System, create DESTINATION
Goto SM59 to Create a RFC Destination.
    3. In SM59 First screen you will get list of RFC Destions
Select R/3 Connections and Click on list(+)symbol it will gives already created Destions, Select R/3 Connections click on Create buttion, it will takes you into another screen to create Destionation.
    Name, Password, Logon details.
once it is saved you can test it. Click on Test Connection Button
if it is executed successfully your destinatio is established
NOW WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO IN BI SIDE ????
    i went to RSA1 -> source systems
Here i dont see my R/3 in source systems...
please give me step by step instructions.
