Source System - RFC Connection

From RSA1 if I go to a source system in B/W, right click and choose the  check option, I get an error message which says BW Unknown in source system.  I think this is indicating that the RFC is not set correctly.  I have gone to another B/W which also accesses the same Source System and have done a check and the connection is fine.
If I right click the Source System and select Change in both B/W systems everything is identical except the name entered for the Target Host.  If I ping both names the IP address is identical though.  Would the Target Host name cause an issue?  If not can someone advise on the steps to fix the RFC?  Thanks

Niten,
Most likely, IDOC settings on the source system side are not correct. Ensure that the source system is open and you have authorizations to maintain ALE settings. After that right click on the source system and select activate. If that does nto work, try restore.

  • Source System RFC Error in BI

    Hello SAP Experts,
I have installed BI 7.0. And i have created an RFC connection for BI to R3. It was working fine but now the SAP R/3 source system in RSA1 is giving an error "Result of the destination check:Name or password in incorrect(repeat logon)". And also when i am logging in, moving between screens or T-codes, it is taking a long time and the status in the bottom of the screens shows that it is checking all the destinations that is the RFC connection created. Not able to trace the reason behind this. Please help. BL consultants are waiting to work.
    Thanks a lot

    Hello MLN,
This is not the first time i am configuring SS. I have done it long back. I created a user manually long back and i used that user while configuring the SS. All these months it worked fine and no issues. As far as i know,ALEREMOTE and BWREMOTE are service users which we get by default after installation. And during configuration, i remember, i gave the passwords for both the users. But my question is, all these days it went fine and now it is giving an error. And why is it checking all the destinations when i execute any transaction. Please clarify. BI consultants practiced SPRO, so is there any chance that they might have changed or ececuted something and the result is this error? If so what can that be. Please suggest

  • Change Source System RFC

    Dear All,
we have 2 server ecc 6.
    1. production
    2. backup
right now my sap bw connect to ecc production.
we have plan to use backup instead of production
is it enough just simply changing the IP and host name at the current RFC connection.
from IP production to IP backup server ?
without creating new RFC connection ?
is there any procedure that we have to do before or after the changes ?
    please advice

    Hello Dady,
You have to take care of RFCs, Logical system names and RSA1 stuff in order to use backup ECC server instead of Production.
I suggest you to go through the following document for better understanding. It's strongly recommended to take offline backup before you attempt to modify source system configuration in BW system.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/70a7b233-8be5-2c10-4190-aed723af5373?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
    Good Luck.

  • Source system RFC fails after transport

    Hi all
in our QA system any transport containing a process chain causes the RFC connection to the source ECC6 system to fail after too many logon attempts.
This doesn't happen when we send the same transport to production.
    Any ideas?
    Regards
    Hayley

    Hi
thanks, but I had already checked out this note.  This refers to the post processing of the transport on BW of client 000 logging onto the BW client to carry out changes, not the RFC connection to the BW ECC source system.
The transport goes through ok, and the process chain can be activated, however at this point we always notice that the ECC source system connection fails with an RFC error, as soon as we get the password reset and changed in SM59 it works ok.

  • Lost System RFC-Connects

    Hi folks,
due to whatever reasons essential standard rfc-connections shipped with the system are now missing in our SolMan, R/3 and BI environment. Examples: SAPOOS, SAPNET_RTCC, SAPNET_RFC, to name but a few. This means that I have to find a way to rebuild them somehow, since some of them use SAP users to establish the particular connection.
    Suggestions?
    Best regards,
    Th. Müller

    ... a typo! Sorry.
It should have been SAPOSS of course. And, yes, I did search the Marketplace. Obviously SAP aren't prepared for nutjobs who delete rfc-connections "for security reasons".
    Anyway, thanks for the time.

  • Source system activate error

    Hi,
I have created new source system for R/3 quality , when i am activating then getting following error. Kindly suggest how to resolve this error. Thanks in advance.
BI unknown in source system     RSAR     8
BI IDoc type ZSDB018 is not the same as source system IDoc type     RSAR     371
    EDI: Partner profile not available
Entry in inbound table not found
Entry in outbound table not found
    Rgrds
    Rakesh

    Hi,
Check the source system RFC connection in SM59, if this is ok then check the tcode  WE20 for EDI partner profiles and inbound and out bound Idocs defined.
In BW Out boud IDOC type should be same in ECC in bound Idoc type, and in ECC out Bound IDOC type should be same in BW in bound IDOC type then the source system activation is possible in RSA1.

  • Issue in while connecting Source system

    Hi All,
I mistakenly Ran the function module RSAP_BIW_DISCONNECT in BIW, I suppose to run this FM in Source system side,
We observed that Source system in RSA1 (BI) has been deleted), and also one record from the table RSBASIDOC (which is from source connection) has been deleted .
When I try to create he source system in BI, after entering logical system and ALEREMOTE and BWUSER logins, it was asking me to login to source system, after entering the details,
    A pop-up message:
RFC destination already exists in source system
Do you want to use this destination, check, or
    cancel source system connection?
options: USE, CHECK and Cancel, -> We pressed USE
Then it came back to RSA1 screen and a pop-up message
Connection BA is used in the ERQXXXX
source system as a connection BWQXXXX to BW.
Do you want to delete this connection in the source system?
Connection Is Restored After It Has Been Deleted Successfully
    Options: Delete, Do not delete.
When we go for Delete : It is saying that "Error in source system ERQXXXXX"

  • DB Connect Source System Creation

    Hi,
I am trying to create source system (DB Connect) to extract data from SQL Server to BI.
I had user id/pwd in DB who is authorised to read view created by DB personnel.
n BW Description of Database Connections Screen
    There are two fields
    CONN.INFO and PERMANENT
What is the functionality of those 2 fields and from where can i get CONN.INFO
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi,
Please note the following with regard to the user:
To avoid problems loading data, proceed as follows:
    1. Create a special login for the extraction. You should add this login to the db_ddladmin database role in the
corresponding database. This generates a similar DB user at database level. The user you use must have the 'CREATE VIEW'
authorization at least.  This is contained in the role mentioned above.
    2. For the extraction, you should only use DB views that were  created under this DB user. (refer also to type conversion, naming
    convention and so on)
    3. Assign the necessary authorizations (SELECT at least) to the  selected user in the source tables, or the columns of these tables.
    4. Use the specially created login in the logon information when you set up the DB source system in BW.
You will find much more detailed information on how to setup the connection and known problems and issues in the
    attached note 512739.

  • Probelm in creating R/3 source system in BW 3.5!

    Hi,
steps i did for the creation of source system in BW are as follows!
    1) crated RFC destinations in each of the system (BW3.5 and R/3 4.7 IDES)
    2) created logical systems in each of the systems and assigned the client to the respective logical systems
    3) created back ground user in BW (Back ground user was already there in BW side, namely ALEREMOTE)
      4) and in RSA1 screen when i attempt to create source system, it is asking for RFC destination and Logical system which i did . and after that, i am seeing neither the source name created nor any other next screen .
am i missing some thing here?
do suggest me the steps furthur for creating source system
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi Dinesh,

  • Source system moved to differnt folder in RSA1

    Hi,
We did system refresh from R/3 production to R/3 Quality system.
After this, as a part of post refresh activities, we did restore source system connection in RSA1 of BI Quality system by
right click on R/3 Quality system and choosing the option Restore.
It asked us user id and passwords for aleremote and extremote users ( background users for BW and R/3 quality ).We provided those.
Then it asked us to provide the userid and password for administrator for R/3 quality system.
We provided user id and password of DDIC user in R/3 Quality system.
Then it gave the following message:
User already exists in source syst. Only continue if profile and password are correct.
    Continue? or Cancel?
    We selected "Continue".
Then it gave us the screen with following message:
RFC destination already exists in source system .Do you want to use this destination, check, or cancel source system connection?
    Use ? Check? Cancel?
    We selected "Use"
Then it gave us the following message :
Connection BB is used in the R3QCLNT100 source system as a connection BQ1CLNT100 to BW.
Do you want to delete this connection in the source system? Connection Is Restored After It Has Been Deleted Successfully.
Delete ? or Do not Delete?
    We selected Delete.
After this, restore took place successfully but there is one problem.
After restore, in RSA1, Source system R3QCLNT100 ( source system name for our R/3 quality system ) is shifted from the folder SAP ( source system type for SAP source system ) to Folder BI ( source system type for BI system )
Please suggest how to shift the source system from BI to SAP Folder.
    Thanks,
    Tarun Brijwani.

    Hi Tarun,
have you checked RFC connection before you did Restore?
Might be that you need to adjust RFC settings (TA SM59) for that particular source system.
Seems to me that IP of your R/3 QAS system is pointing into some BW system. That's why your source system was shifted under BI source systems in TA RSA1.

  • No of Target systems to One source system via TDMS

    Hello,
Wondering if any one in this group have worked on a scenario, where there is 1 source / ECC, and 5-6 target systems/clients.
The reason for asking this question : I have an RFC connection set between the source and target 1, and there is another RFC set from Source to Target 2.
Now, I have 4-5 projects created in TDMS/controller, and when I want to delete a project ( which is configured with source and target 1), I had to deactivate the package in the project, that inturn deactivated the RFC connections of Source and Target 1.
Now, when I am trying to create a landscape between source 1 to target 2, and when I clicked on the distribute RFC connections, it throws an error.
    ERROR DETAILS:
Destination MBT_DD1_ED2_130_00_MBT deactivated or bad state - Connection check not allowed. Message no. CNVMBTRFC123 Diagnosis Connection check for a destination is not allowed. The reason can be that the destination is deactivated, no connection check explicitely choosen, or destination state doesn´t allow the check. Destination is deactivated In table cnvmbtdest in field deactivated you find the information about deactivation state. Keep in mind that for each remote system the state can be different for the destinations. Viewing deactiavation state see heading 'Get destination and deactivaten state'. No connection check explicitely choosen When calling the function for checking the connection we have an import parameter no_connection_check. If this parameter is set then no connection check will be done. Destination state doesn´t allow the check In table cnvmbtdeststate you find the state for a destination (also called connection state). If there is no entry then it can be assumed that the destination is OK. If there is an entry then all states with exception of O (connection OK) and the initial entry indicating that there is something not OK with the destination and no connection check will be done untill the issue is fixed. For destinations in the control system you find the destination state in the control system and for destinations in the remote system accordingly in these systems. Viewing destination state state see heading 'Get destination and deactivation state'.
Wondering if someone can help in fixing this. Thanks,

    Thanks Anita,
Will go through the note and will revert back, incase of any further issues.
Also, I want to know why I am not able to delete a project, and when trying to delete a project, that doesn't have a package in it, gives an error. something that says, 500 sap internal error, screen output without connection to user ( termination : RABAX_STATE)
Also, based on my earlier msg, I was trying to go through the tcode " SET_RFC_STATE".
Surprisingly, I see all the Projects that I created with the earlier source/target/RFC connections.
Is there a way to get rid of these projects/ packages which are not in USE.
    Thanks,

  • How to modify Source system in DS

    Folks,
I have a Data Source with old Source System for one of my InfoObject. I need to load the new master Data for this InfoObject. But I am unable to change the Old source system to new source system as the Pencil is diabled?
Do I need to reinstall the InfoObject from BI content and do this from scratch..??
    Any Help please..
    Thank You!

You cannot change source system directly this way.
Depending on what is your situation there are 2 workarounds:
Case 1: you want to keep mapping of your existing source system and also want to load from the new system. Follow these steps:
    1. Right Click on InfoSource and selectassign data source
    2. Select the new source system (press F4 for options)
    3. Select the datasource
    4. Next in the transfer rules screen do the mapping and activate.
Case 2: You don't want to load from the new system without making any change to the transfer rules (and update rules if any). Follow these steps:
    1. In SM59 change your old system RFC connection to point to the new system.
    2. Then right click the source system and perform a check/restore. This will update partner profiles for the new system.
    3. Replicate the datasource and activate the transfer rules.
    4. Request your BASIS team to run program for BDLS that changes the system pointer.
You dont have to reinstall anything from business content in any case

  • Creating New Source System

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a new source system in BW for the new R/3 client which is a copy of PRD.
So now new R/3 client is 200 and also PRD is 200. I did all necessary steps and i found difficulty when i am assigning logical system based on client. I found key is only client, so as PRD system is already mentioned with client 200 i am not able to create new entries and i hope this causing me error.
So by creating RFC destination directly in SM59 and when i tried to create it says PRD Client already available. Though i have specified new client server name.
    Kindly advise.
    This is quite urgent.
    Thank You.
    Best regards,
    Bhuvana.

    hi,
it seems rfc connection between bw and r/3 not established properly, check with transaction sm59 (ask basis help if no authorization), choose r/3 source system rfc and menu test->authorization. check if user name and password, hostname/ip address are correct.
this doc 'bw r/3 connectivity' may useful http://help.sap.com/bp_biv235/BI_EN/BBLibrary/documentation/B84_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_DE.doc
    hope this helps.
