Sourced Based VRFs and IPSEC

Hi All,
I have 2 questions.
1) Does Cisco Router 7600 with SUP720 3BXL supports VRF Selection based on Source IP Address [Layer 3 VPNs]?
2) We have various clients reaching a Router and we want to forward them to a their company's VRFs, based on their source address (Given by Radius or Statically). Now, Ideally, we want to give to the customer's H.Q. the option to connect to this router using Leased Lines (or Frame Relays) or by using IPSEC (over the internet). Is this possible? Can traffic from an access server arrive to an interface and based on the source, the user will be either forwarded to a VRF or an IPSEC?
Regards.
Regards.

Hello,
a solution to xour problem could be to have a VRF aware access server and place the customers into their respective VRF right away (the feature is called Multi-VRF aka VRF-lite). IPSec and Dialer interfaces are possible. Based on authentication you could define the VRF and by having a dot1Q trunk to the 7600 which operates as the MPLS PE.
A second option is to have the trunk to the 7600, VLANs in different VRFs and to do PBR into different VLANs on the CE router/access server.
Hope this helps! please rate all posts.
Regards, Martin

    There are two CDC methods - Source based CDC and Target based CDC, which one is better performancewise. in data services.
    If there is any document available which compares both and provides any info on performance etc, will be helpful.
    thank you for the helpful info.

    LIke Suneer mentioned CDC is for better performance.
    Following link would be helpful.

    Hopefully my reply brings your query to the top again & we get more help here.

  • CSM VRF Lite OSPF and IPSEC/GRE

    We have a pretty complex vpn configuration. Its a site-to-site VRF-Lite GRE/IPSEC VPN that would be considered a point-to-point, each router is connected to two peers in a ring.
    CSM complains about discovering this VPN configuration due to the VRF and the fact that OSPF with multiple OSPF processes is not supported.
    My question is, can we still monitor the tunnels. We'd like to monitor the tunnels, but that seems impossible unless we can get CSM to see the tunnels which it currently is not.

    VRF Lite and MPLS-VPN act independently so they can work independently. And there is no specific need for mapping. If link is for VRF A on PE so you can make it part of vrf A in CE as well. Both VRFs are independent of each other.

  • Lunar linux and sourced based distros in general

    Whilst looking for versions of linux that I haven't tried as of yet, I stumbled across Lunar.
    Distrowatch:
    Lunar is a source based Linux distribution with a unique package management system which builds each software package, or module, for the machine it is being installed on. Though it can take a while to do a complete Lunar installation it's worth it as it tends to be quite fast, once installed! In the beginning Lunar was a fork of Sorcerer GNU Linux (SGL). The fork occurred in late January to early February of 2002 and was originally made up of a small group of people who wanted to collaboratively develop and extend the Sorcerer technology. The original name for the project was Lunar-Penguin but the group decided to re-christen it Lunar Linux while the Lunar-Penguin name has become a sort of umbrella which the team could use if they decide to collaboratively develop something besides Lunar Linux.
    Has anyone tried this flavour yet? Might give it a whirl on a VM (compile times on a VM might be a deal breaker though!). Something which strikes me as odd is the fact the forums are closed.. link. I cant find any information as to why this is the case.
    Does the community think that sourced based distributions are better than pre-compiled versions? There dont seem to be that many sourced based about, but of those that are they seem to tout speed as a big plus.
    Gentoo "Extreme performance, configurability and a top-notch user and developer community are all hallmarks of the Gentoo experience".
    Lunar "locally compiling an optimized system tailored toward the users specific needs. This should result in a lean and optimized operating system for example both tout speed as being one of their major plus points".
    Is the linux world lazy, and just like the ease of .deb .rpm pacman etc? Because if sourced based is better, then surely there would be more sourced based distros about? So this leads me to think that either potential sourced based bonuses dont outweigh the time it takes to compile, or the linux world is just plain lazy (hardware issues aside as a reason not to used sourced based).

    I've tried it a couple of times, but I've never gotten it to work, always with installing something some dependency couldn't be met because it couldn't be found on the server. Too bad too because I really thought it could be interesting...
    Oh well, now I've found arch
    Same experience here.
    I won't call Lunar a bad distro. It has some appeal for a small niche-within-a-niche. However, because of the small size of the project and community, the quality suffers.
    I've tried it in the past on the most generic hardware I had at the time and there were always installation issues which turned out to be showstoppers for me.
    There are so many distros, yet in my view, there are so few high-quality distros.
    Debian (big), Slackware (small), Arch (small), Fedora (big), and Centos (small) are all good, solid distros.
    I find once I venture outside of these solid systems, lack of quality and annoying bugs manifest themselves. And even though a project may look intriguing for its innovation or fresh approach, unexpected behavior is to be expected.
    YMMV

  • Troubles using VRF-aware IPsec w/ crypto maps

    I'm trying to get a lab setup to work with a C2951 (15.2(4)M4) peering with an ASA 5510 (9.1(2)). The config is based on crypto maps, since I want the C2951 to be the initiating side, and as far as I understand, VTIs wouldn't be working together with the ASA due to the default 'any' crypto statements that are being applied on SVTIs.
    So I've set up this IKEv1-, crypto map-based lab, and the tunnel strictly won't come up; it seems that crypto doesn't find any interesting traffic at all (no debug crypto isakmp output pops up).
    What I'm doing for testing is issuing a VRF Ping from a loopback interface of the C2951. I was following the following cheat sheet to configure the IOS box:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-13524
    Please see the attached config files and the setup drawing.
    This is the way I'm testing it:
    C2951#sh deb
    Cryptographic Subsystem:
      Crypto ISAKMP debugging is on
    C2951#
    C2951#ping vrf test 10.0.0.1 source lo 1
    Type escape sequence to abort.
    Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 10.0.0.1, timeout is 2 seconds:
    Packet sent with a source address of 40.0.0.1
    Success rate is 0 percent (0/5)
    C2951#
    Any hints for me, please?

    There are no VRF routes left in the config, and I've cleared the global and the VRF routing table. Even rebooted the box. Still only half of the Pings get answered. There are no crypto ipsec errors, so it should have something to do with routing...but what?

  • Error While Activating BI Web service data source based on MDM XI.

    Dear experts,
    Need help with an error that i am getting for a BI data source based on XI MDM. An extra field was added in the data source as part of business requirement and it works fine in dev environment but when we transported the changes to Q environment it is always giving following error.
    The web-service based communication structure in the data source in QA is not getting updated with the new field in the target system.
    Any inputs or pointers would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Abhishek

    Many thanks for your help.  This solved the issue for our .NET code, however the leak is still present in the report designer.  I was also wondering if you could help further: because of the limits on the java memory process is there a way to ensure that a separate java process is started for each report that is loaded in my report viewers collection?  Essentially the desktop application that i have created uses a tab control to display each type report, so each tab goes through the following code when displaying a report and closing a tab:
    Is there a way to ensure that a different Java process is kicked off each time that I display a different report?  My current code in c# always uses the same Java process so the memory ramps up.  The code to load the report and then dispose of the report through closing the tab (and now the Java process) looks like this:
        private void LoadCrystalReport(string FullReportName)
          ReportDocument reportDoc = new ReportDocument();
          reportDoc.Load(FullReportName, OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByTempCopy);
          this.crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = reportDoc;
        private void DisposeCrystalReportObject()
          if (crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource != null)
            ReportDocument report = (ReportDocument)crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource;
            foreach (Table table in report.Database.Tables)
              table.Dispose();
            report.Database.Dispose();
            report.Close();
            report.Dispose();
            GC.Collect();
    Thanks

  • Problem with R/3 Data Source based on Function module in SAP BI

    Hi,
    We have a data source based on functional module. When we load data from R/3 to BI we face the following error.
    " No end-confirmation arrived in the Warehouse from the source system."
    We are getting data but due to no end confirmation from the source system, the load become timed-out and status becomes "RED". When we change the status to be "GREEN" and proceed tha load further, load is fine.
    Please suggest us a suitable solution.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Geetha

    Hi Geetha Devi Ramalingam.
    I faced the same problem since yesterday. I just resolve the issue.
    So here is my solution :
    try this code :
        FETCH NEXT CURSOR s_cursor
                   APPENDING CORRESPONDING FIELDS
                   OF TABLE e_t_data
                   PACKAGE SIZE s_s_if-maxsize.
        IF sy-subrc <> 0.
          CLOSE CURSOR s_cursor.
          RAISE no_more_data.
        ENDIF.
    if you add your
    bold
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
          CLOSE CURSOR s_cursor.
          RAISE no_more_data.
        ENDIF.
    bold
    than the sy-subrc may be equal and than your CLOSE CURSOR s_cursor. will have no effect
    it work for me hope it will for u
    Hard luck!

  • VRF and FTP Server

    I have a weird problem with VRF and FTP Server. I have a lab setup whereby two VRFs Client1 and Client2 are created. Both the VRFs are in the same subnet. I have configured FTP-Server and TFTP-Server on this router. TFTP-Server works perfectly fine from both the networks. But for FTP-Server, I can login in to the FTP Server and authenticate positively. But when I try to do listing of directory, it gives a error "can't bind data".
    The web access to this router also works perfectly fine.
    Any idea why FTP fails.
    Before configuring vrf, the FTP server did work fine.
    Any idea why. here's the config :
    interface FastEthernet0/0.371
    description Client1
    encapsulation dot1Q 371
    ip vrf forwarding client1
    ip address 10.0.1.1 255.255.255.0
    interface FastEthernet0/0.372
    description Client2
    encapsulation dot1Q 372
    ip vrf forwarding client2
    ip address 10.0.1.1 255.255.255.0

    Ohhhhhhhh!!!
    I'm even more convinced its a passive/active problem with the ftp control channel. Did you try the gentleman's suggestion of passive ftp?? What's happening is that from a client on one vrf, you're attempting to terminate the ftp session in a router whom is in the second vrf. The ftp data session isn't vrf-aware from the sound of it, hence my question about what device models and IOS you're using.
    But I agree, it's getting complicated enough that sounds like TAC-time. My bet is something isn't vrf-aware to the point that the data is lost. For instance, to ping from one device to another from _within_ a vrf router instance, you have to use the keyword "vrf" like "ping vrf VRF_Name src dest".
    In your situation, your source is on one vrf while the destination is _within_ the second vrf, not just simply the IP packet being routed from vrf1-client (like a Windows PC) to vrf2-server (like a Unix ftp server).
    I'd be interested in hearing their solution.

  • Generic Data source based on Infoset

    Hi,
    I have a Generic data source based on Infoset. i need hostorical data from this data source, when i extract it is given me only current data. Infoset based on PNPCE logical database, in the Infoset query (ECC6) when i select "All" it gives all data, but when i extract with RSA3 with perticular personal number it just give me 1 record,
    Please help me to fix this problem.
    Thanks

    i think you mean to get data relevant to a date. have you setup the begda/enda as selection parameters in the generic datasource? that would be the only aside from a custom  program to first fetch the data and then send it to bi.
    with the dates, you can pull it with the relevant date range setup in the infopackage

  • Ip source guard feature and dhcp DHCP scope exhaustion (client spoofs other clients)

    Hi everybody.
    A dhcp server assigns ip adress based on mac address carried by client hardware field in dhcp packets.
    One potential attack is when a rogue host mimics different mac addresses and causes dhcp server to assign the ip addresses until no ip address is left for legitimate host.
    For e.g a host h1 with mac1 has assigned ip address by dhcp server as:
    199.199.199.1 mac1
    Dhcp server has the above entry in its database.
    Using hacking tools such as Yersinia or Gobbler one can create a dhcp discover messages each time creating a different mac for client hardware field in dhcp server thereby causing a dhcp server to assign ip addresses because to dhcp server , these are legitimate dhcp discover messages with each carrying a different mac in client hardware addresses.
    You might say use dhcp snooping and it will prevent that (  dhcp scope exhaustion) and configure the switch to check if src mac matches the client hardware address in dhcp message. But still we can creat spoofed discover messages where src mac in ethernet header will match the client hardware address in dhcp discover message. We still did not overcome the problem.
    You might say use IP source guard feature but will it really prevent that problem from happening?
    Let me illustrate it :
    h1---------f1/1SW---------DHCP server
    Let say we have configured dhcp snooping on sw1 and f1/1 is untrusted port.  The switch has following dhcp binding
    199.199.199.1    mac1   vlan1  f1/1
    Next we configure ip source guard to  validate both src mac and src ip against the dhcp bindings  . When  we configures ip source guard first  , it will allow dhcp communication only so a host can request ip address and a dhcp binding can be built. After that ip source guard will validate src ip or src mac or both against the dhcp binding.depending upon how we configure ip source guard.
    In our case we have configured ip source guard to validate both src mac and src ip against the dhcp binding.
    A dhcp binding is already created as:
    199.199.199.1 mac1 vlan 1 f1/1
    Now using the hacking tools Yersinia or Gobbler on h1, we create our first spoofed dhcp discover message  where src mac=mac2 in ethernet header and  client harware address= mac2 in dhcp discover message. Since switch is configured with ip source guard feature and therefore allows dhcp discover message to pass through. Dhcp server upon receiving the dhcp message assigns another ip address from the pool. Now the dhcp server has following entries:
    199.199.199.1 mac1
    199.199.199.2 mac2.
    We can continue to craft spoofed dhcp discover messages as mentioned above and have dhcp server keep assigning ip addresses until the whole pool is exhausted.
    So my question is how does  ip source guard in conjuction with dhcp snooping prevent this particular attack from happening? ( i.e DHCP scope exhaustion)
    I really appreciate your input.
    thanks and have a great week.

    Thanks Karthikeyan.
    First of all, we gather all the information about the  locations of legitimate dhcp servers in our network. Once we have this information, we will configure the ports used to reach them as trusted. All the ports where end users will connect will be untrusted and therefore subject to dhcp snooping .
    it means if any of user connected in that switch/vlan runs a dhcp  services like vmware for eg. Snooping will prevent the dhcp/bootp  servers connected to that port will not be able to process.
    Yes that is correct. Because dhcp snooping feature will check these ports for the messages usually sent by dhcp server such as dhcp offer, etc. If the end user is running dhcp server using virtual machine, that port should be configured as trusted if it is dertermined  that end user is running a legitimate dhcp server using vm ware.
    When we have the dhcp snooping it prevents the 1st level of hacking  itself. I don't think so it will have any impact on dhcp address  releasing.
    I am sorry. You lost me here. What is 1 level of hacking?
    Dhcp snooping checks for dhcp messages such as dhcp release, dhcp decline.on untrusted port against the dhcp bindings.
    Here is why;
    h1---------SW1-------dhcp server
                   |
                 h2
    Let say we don't have dhcp snooping in above attack and  h2 is a legitimate user has already assigned ip address 199.199.199.2 by dhcp server. Thus the dhcp server has an entry:
    199.199.199.2 mac2
    Next we connect rogue user and it gets ip address 199.199.199.1 now the dhcp server has entries:
    199.199.199. 1  mac1
    199.199.199.2   mac2
    Now using hacking tools, h1 create a fake dhcp release message  with  199.199.199.199.2   mac2
    Dhcp server upon receiving this message, will release the ip address and returns it to the pool.
    By using DHCP snooping, switch will peer inside dhcp release message and checks against the binding. If there is conflict, it will drop the message.
    IFor e.g
    If have dhcp snooping configured , then switch will have adhcp binding as:
    199.199.199.1    mac1    vlan 1   f1/1  lease time
    199.199.199.2     mac2    vlan 2    f1/2 lease time.
    If h1 tries to send fake dhcp release with ip address 199.199.199.2    mac2
    Switch will check ip address 199.199.199.2  and mac2 against the binding related to f1/1 . Sw will find a conflict and therefore drops the dhcp release packet.
    Thanks

  • How to incoporate a function module in data source based on view

    Hi,
    I need to develop a data source in R/3 based on a view (which is straight forward).
    One field in the R/3 Z table  will be in like this ‘20,070,709,110,000’
    There is a function module developed in R/3 when executed will split the record(20,070,709,110,000) and display time & date
    How can i incorporate this function module in data source so that the data and time records will be loaded to BW
    Thanks

    Enhance the data source with date and time and populate these fields in the user exit using the function module IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP .
    OR
    You can create Z function module IB_CONVERT_FROM_TIMESTAMP in BW side and write a routine in update rules/transfer rules to populate date and time.
    hope this helps ...

  • Multiple data sources based on a parameter

    Hi there!
    Is it possible to get data from different data sources based on a parameter?
    For example, I have SQL query and parameter pFI that can be equal to 1 or 2.
    So if the pFI = 1 then I need to execute this query in DB1 otherwise I need to execute It in DB2.

    I do not think its possible to change the datasource on a data model dynamically. However you could create two seperate data models and two seperate layouts using a parameter to distguish between the two when you call the report.

  • Alternative data source for EO and VO

    It is usually the requirement to customize the Entity Objects and View Objects so that they can work with data sources different than database schema objects (tables, views,...), some examples are Web Service or Oracle Coherence cache.
    I have developed mini projects using both data sources mentioned, by overriding relevant methods in the implementation EO and VO classes. There is one limitation I realize when developing these projects. Although both the EO and VO rely directly and completely on the alternative data sources (Web Service and Coherence), still there must be a schema object existing in the local database to back the EO and VO. This is because I still have to call super methods from ViewObjImpl and EntityImpl, and these methods are still doing some operations with the schema objects, and without these objects, ORA-00942: table or view does not exist will be thrown.
    For example, after overriding executeQueryForCollection in ViewObjImpl to take data from web service, it is still necessary to call super.executeQueryForCollection so that data will actually appear on the web page, and without the schema objects, this method will throw ORA-00942.
    My question is, is there any way to completely eliminate the need of schema objects in EO and VO? I know the answer (if exist) will be complicated but I'm willing to explore.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Timo,
    I figured out how to achieve this.
    Basically when creating the EO, I did not specify the schema object in the first step, and for each attribute that I created in the wizard, I also unchecked the checkbox "persistent". I could then create VO based on this EO and override all the necessary methods in the EO and VO so they can do CRUD operations via Web Service.
    In the case of only creating an VO (read-only, for retrieving/reading data only), I could also mark each attribute as "transient" by checking a checkbox in the creation wizard.
