South Africa App Store REALLY *****??

What is going on with the South Africa App Store?
There is no DRM on apps, so there is no reason that we cannot have exactly the same apps as the rest of the world.
But the No.1 rated app in the South Africa App store is KOI POND??
and NO GAMES WHATSOEVER?
<Edited by Moderator>

I agree, would Vodacom have any influence over that?
I still think its poor, if I can buy games on my PS3 and Steam and many other online platforms why not on Itunes?
It all just seems like a poor effort from Apple. Possibly a "couldn't care less" attitude.
I bought my first iPod because of the lure of buying music via iTunes, felt like I'd been conned when I actually installed it.
Got excited about the iPod games... (no DRM there right?) again sorry for me..
Guess I should have been already holding my ankles when I bought the iPhone to the lure of awesome games and phone thats also an iPod.
Imagine, I thought, waking up to my own custom play list in the morning...
Little did I know: its either a phone or an iPod, not both. You want a music Ring tone? SUCKER!!!! No music iTunes store in SA means NO MUSIC RING TONES FOR YOU!
So what that you have four of your favorite CD's right on the phone.
No sms forwarding either (why???)
and NO COOL GAMES! let alone any useful apps.
Here are some of my favorites:
*Australian Post Codes* ( Saves me having to memorize them )
*Point of Interest* (in Germany)
Delight(ful) (Where else would I get the kitchen utensils I import?)
Staumelder ( I just love Germain writing, I just can't help but stare ate the application description in wonder!)
*iBUS-Portland, OR* ( who wouldn't use that? AND its FREE)
I could go on and on, without even being able to list the ones that display as little blocks on my screen, I assume because I am in the wrong country.
But then I know I'm in the wrong country.... as far as iTunes and Apple are concerned anyway.
Since my first post was censored, I will say it again in a nice way:
Pretty please Apple, pay some attention to the (very) poor state of your iTunes SA Store,

  • Why are certains applications not available in South African App Store?

Why are certain applications such as Google Earth, Google Mobile App, and most games not available in the South African App Store.
We speak English so localisation should not be a problem.
I'm sure there are no legal reasons why these applications are not available here, as we have desktop equivalents for most of them.
Why does South Africa have to have a diminished iPhone experience?

    No idea.
You would have to ask Apple and/or the company that makes the app and/or - most likely - the Government of your country.
I'm sure Apple and the app developer would love to sell more apps.
Since this is a user forum, made up of iphone users, like you - there is nothing we can do about it.
    Sorry.

How come there are no hidden objects games in the South African App Store and y does safari not allow you to get it downloaded from the net. There are only games for kids in the App Store. Can anyone help.  Is the South African apple ipad only for children

Nobody here is responsible for what is or is not available in any country. I believe it is a software licensing thing.

  • When will South Africa itunes store have music available to buy/download

When will South Africa itunes store have music available to buy/download?

There is no one from Apple here, thus no one here can answer your question.

  • Every time I try to download and app to my iPhone, it tells me that I need to change to South African App Store. I live in South Africa and have purchased apps before, what has changed ?

When purchasing an app on my iPhone, it says I must first change from the US App Store to South Africa, I live in South Africa and have downloaded several apps before without any problem. What has changed ?

    Hi HayCam,
Sounds like you accidently got changed to another store....
So, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, and click on your AppleID at the top. Then click on View account, sign in, and then click on Country/Region, and follow the instructions to change your store to South Africa.
That should take care of it!
    Cheers,

  • Why does the South African App Store have so little apps. And why are they no games?

I live in South Africa and the App Store is pathetic. There are no Games at all. Why is the U.S App Store SO much better? I feel like I wasted my money on my iPad.

  • The App Store really needs a Wish List component

I love the App Store and the thousands of offerings, but with so much to browse, it would be helpful to have a Wish List component so that I could "park" things for later study. After viewing many, many apps, I sometimes fortget just where I saw a particular one. I'm not always ready to buy on the spot. A WL would solve that problem.

I totally agree, I'm a DJ, and buy a lot of music, so I need to be sure that I really want that music. A want list would make it so much easier. A friend of mine don't use iTunes store because they don't have one.
I also think that they should have 1 minute samples instead of 30 seconds.

  • Is it legal to make a oveseas account if you dont reside in that country ? cuz the south African app store is useless

so i Know a lot of people who has US app stores but dont reside in it can i open a US account because the south african store is useless and has too many foreingn apps on it. Can i legally do this? Because  if i purchase a app they still get the money if i pay for it. i know this has probaly been asked a lot of times

Legalities aside, I don't think it will even let you create an account without a credit card and billing address from that country.

  • Will App Store Really Block Incompatible Users?

Hi all. I've heard a few people say that the App Store won't allow them to download FCP X if their system is not compatible. Is this confirmed?  Yes, I do realize that the system requirements are out there, but I feel like I can never be totally sure about that.  On the other hand, I don't want to pay for FCP X only to find that it doesn't work.

I'd just make sure your machine is compatible, and not risk it, considering the requirements are out there. I don't think they would block incompatible users because it shouldn't be necessary- before buying people should know whether or not they are compatible for the software they are about to buy.

  • Application in SA App Store unavailabilty

    Dear App Store,
Please explain why this app: https://itunes.apple.com/en/app/ihud-for-rfactor/id480699685?mt=8
is not available in the South Africa App Store.?
The Developer sent me this to confirm it SHOULD be available:
But on my ipad, when I go to the app store to get this app I can't find it.  When I use the direct link from the website, I get this:
    So what gives?

We are all itunes users just like you.
You are not addressing Apple here at all.
The developer needs to deal with this, not you.

  • APP Store South Africa is a JOKE!

How can the no 6 top paid app on the South African app store be a guide for Angry Birds?
You can’t even download Angry Birds on the South African App store!
    What a joke!
To get any decent apps from apple in South Africa you have to open a fake USA account.
Everyone with other brand phones can get all the apps in South Africa.
I am sure there are more “smaller” countries around the world with the same watered down service. I don’t think that apple realizes that all these little numbers will add up and turn on them
I am sure you will be able to guess what my next phone won’t be!

No one here can help you. Contact iTunes support & see what's going on:

  • Can I change App Store without lying to Apple or is there another way forward?

    Good day,
I have registered an apple ID, setup all the required payment options, etc, but being in South Africa, didn't know how limited the South African App Store was.
I've done what I fear to be a foolish thing, without realizing the implications, told Apple the truth with regards to using the App Store and to which country I reside in.
I can't understand why the South African store is so limited in its content vs the US for example, I mean seriously, we're still paying in US dollars regardless of the fact that it's a South African regioned App Store.
Enquiries on how to solve my problem have revealed that in order to proceed, I need to represent myself fraudulently as being a US citizen. Websites galor even will offer me fake credit card details along with a valid Zip Code in order to register a new Apple ID.
I'm a straightforward sort of person and do not want to be forced to resort to fraud in order to gain access to content and an obviously more well stocked App Store.
My question is thusly, Is it possible to maintain my South African credentials, payment method being a South African credit card and gain access to the vastly better stocked content available to the US App Store without following the advise of those that advocate what I perceive to be fraud?
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I await in anticipation to your response.

The rules are straight forward ...
Your credit or debit card credentials must be associated with the same country where you reside.
"Although you can browse the iTunes Store in any country without being signed in, you can only purchase content from the iTunes Store for your own country. This is enforced via the billing address associated with your credit card or other payment method that you use with the iTunes Store, rather than your actual geographic location."

  • App wont download from App store

Hi, I am currently based in South Africa, but I download most of my free apps from the US apple store. When i decided to buy an app ($5.99) from my Ipad mini, it asked me to fill in my billing details, and so i did using my father banking details. it accepted it and my father received an sms saying the the ammount had been taken from his account, yet the app did not download. So i went to download it again, as the first time, it asks to fill in the banking details again as if i had not done it.
why wont the app download? must I use the South african App store? and if so will i have to spend the ammount again to recieve the app? So the amount that has been deducted from the account the first time was for nothing and a waste of money?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

The system requires that you use the store for the country in which you reside. Living in South Africa you should not have been using the US store.
When you buy apps you need to buy them from the store for the country in which you reside. You need to provide a payment method from the country where you reside. If you intend to use a bank card it must be from a bank in the country where you reside with a verifiable billing address in the country where you reside.
Since you admit that you have been flouting these requirements, it has now caught up with you. You will need to stop flouting the system and follow the rules for using the iTunes stores to continue further with purchases.

CreatePDF no longer appears on the App store...is it just temprorarily taken down, or discontinued?
