SP 2013 DEC 2014 CU update - why?

just deployed the Dec CU on both servers (binary installs fine), but when running the PSConfig.exe I first see the "this will upgrade your Sharepoint....." dialog...but then this on either server-
it's telling me it missing the one I just installed !!!
(I started the SP powershell  and typed: PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures  -cmd Installcheck -Noinstallcheck
But why is SP requesting the one I've just installed?

the only folder that have the modified today date is the folder 2 - and that's empty...
I did the control panel again and 4 files was made in tmp...but not getting any way it fails from those files
I see a lot of russian text - but why is this - I didn't install is in russian ?
a lot of english and then:

I'm speculating that based on 15.0.4569.1001 it looks like you might have the bad SP1 installed on the other server, and this new server has the good SP1,  15.0.4571.1502.
Check out this post:

"It’s been a fun couple of months for guys like me that watch SharePoint patching. Earlier this month Microsoft discovered a
particularly nasty bug in SharePoint 2013 Service Pack 1 and they pulled it. They locked their best and brightest patchmeisters into a room, threw in some Mt. Dew and Snickers bars and had them crank out
a newer, better, stronger, more-able-to-be-patched version of Service Pack 1. If you were one of the people that installed the first, broken SP1, the fix is to install the new, shiny SP1 over top of it.
Todd Klindt
Looks like you need to try and install the good SP1 on the other server.
and, you could look at the other server's 15 Hive , C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\TEMPLATE and see if you have another 4 digit number folder there other than 1033, if you do, you have another language pack
This text (taken from another post) might help find the differences between the two servers
$sp2010 = get-spproduct
$sp2010.servers
In a bad case of bad patching steps it can help to run through the object model and focus on properties like:
$sp2010.InstallStatus
$sp2010.RequiredButMissingPatchableUnits
$sp2010.RequiredButMissingPatches
$sp2010.RequiredButMissingProducts
All components we get with:
$product = get-spproduct
$product.PatchableUnitDisplayNames

Hope this helps, I've never seen that 2749 error either, in quick bing scan, it shows up like it is some kind of disagreement between dll's, which is why running the good SP1 on the bad server, couldnt hurt, since MSFT has made the CU's truly cumulative.
. .and if they are not truly cumulative, then it should actually apply to the server, without giving the message that "no products were found ..."

  • SharePoint Foundation 2013 - March 2014 Update Issue - Need help

We've just applied the SharePoint Foundation 2013 March 2014 Update, it always requires that we run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard at the end of install, but this time it's getting stuck at step 9 of 10 (the profile sync service cannot be
started even as admin). Is anyone else having any issues with this update? Has anyone else applied it yet? Is anyone else planning to apply it?
If anyone can help with advice on this I'd appreciate it.

    Hi,
We can still access CA but sync will not start. Tried rebooting after the failed configuration and tried to run it again but it didn't work.

  • Web Application suddenly crash (Citrix is not Responding, Citrix stoped Working) - Windows Update Dec 2014

After the distribution of the latest windows update on Dec 2014 we started to face irregular behavior with our Citrix ICA Client V12 which is used to connect to our online applications. The web application suddenly crash and windows provides an error message
as below. The event viewer shows the below log.
We suspect that it was duo to Windows update, we have tried this fix (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3025390) but with no luck.
    Any help is appreciated.

We have tried to also to run (System File Checker) SFC /Scannow to check if there are any issue with the system files as outlined in the event log. But there was no problem returned with the checker.
I have extracted the below Windows Error Reporting WER file when the ICA client crash. Can we analyze the data as we might find the cause,

  • Service Pack 1 & CU DEC 2014 installation procedure

    Hi together!
A short question on the update process for SharePoint 2013. Altogether I'm quite aware of the update process and all the pitfalls that come with it. So, we're on March 2013 PU and planning to install
Service Pack 1 AND December 2014 CU in one rush. In addition, at least one (German) language pack is installed.
Is it correct to install all the binaries on every SharePoint server first (in order SP1, Language Pack (LP) SP1, DEC 2014 CU) and THEN run the Config Wizard sequentially on all servers? Basically,
this method should be valid and correct, however, I'm not sure if in case of SP1 a Config Wizard run is neccessary directly after installing SP1 with LP and if that is finished proceed with CU installation.
    Thanks for your support!

I have done exactly what you describe without an issue.  Having said that I normally do the upgrade to SP1 with LP and then run the Config Wizard.  Then go back and do the CU install and run the wizard again.  As I said, I've done it in
one session, but would recommend doing the SP1 first.

  • Office 2013 and the KB3001652 update

    I am using a click-to-run version of Office 2013 on my 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 system.
I do not allow Windows to update my system automatically.
Unless there is a good reason to do it more frequently, I use Windows Update every month to update my system manually.
For the last three months (February, March and April 2015), Windows Update has offered KB3001652 (update for Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime) as an important update.
At first, I didn’t know why this update was being offered.
I don’t have Visual Studio 2010 installed.  But I later learnt that Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime comes as part of Office 2013, so KB3001652 appears to be a legitimate update for Office 2013.
However, I have still not installed the update.
    I have the following queries:
Having installed a click-to-run version of Office 2013, I expected ALL updates to Office 2013 to be done automatically in the background.
In fact, I’m sure I read somewhere that no updates would come through the Windows Update route.
So why has this update come through Windows Update?
Does anyone know whether the KB3001652 update to Office 2013 will eventually be done as an automatic update in the background?
If you inspect the April updates to Office 2013 in support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3050766, the highest numbered individual update is still only KB2965279, so it might be a few months yet before KB3001652 is included (assuming it will be, of course).

Same problem here!. Giving the computer network access allows the control to be populated. Then I disabled and restarted and it seems to be ok....

    hi Apfelwurm,
why do you say it's not normal.
it always switches itself on after i update. it just did again, this time for 7.1.2.. i t also will switch on after a restore.
i never use bluetooth and make sure it's not on for any other reason.
it's been noticed by others too.

Hello. I've Apple TV 3rd gen and MacBook Pro 2013 all with latest updates. AirPlay works fine till I don't start streaming videos from YouTube. After that AirPlay icon from MacBook menu bar simply disappears. Could some help. I'm using 2 Mbps internet connection.

Same issue here- I can airplay my amazon prime library just fine from my iphone 5 but on my macbook- (mavericks, 15 inch 2013 retina with quad core i7, nvidia 650 M and SSD) it just sputters and lags.
I have noticed web video is considerably worse than local content, giving me pauses of up to 2 or 3 seconds in which video stops but audio continues in the amazon player. Youku video, however, seems relatively stable. Our subscription speed is 25 mbps, so that should be plenty to stream SD video from Amazon and doesn't account for why it would be nice and stable from the iphone, but not the mbp.
Playing light, locally hosted steam sidescrollers  like Limbo is better but gives periodic drops in framerate on the Tv. when mirroring the framerate remains steady on the MBP screen.
Games airplayed from my iphone seem relatively stable, though with a noticably lower framerate on the TV than on the phone.
It seems these issues have abated considerably since yesterday's Apple TV update, but are still curious nonetheless and I'm not sure that the update yesterday was specifically meant to address those issues or if I'm just getting a time with less network interference now.
Comcast recently installed a new router/modem/phone combo, replacing our old separate modem and router setup. I'm going to test if putting the network on a different channel helps.

  • Photoshop CC 2014.1 update now available

The Photoshop CC 2014.1 update now available.
Today we are releasing an update to Photoshop CC that includes new 3D printing features and enhancements designed to make it easier to create beautiful 3D printed designs and give you more printing options.
For more details on the release, see this announcement on the Photoshop team blog:http://blogs.adobe.com/photoshopdotco...
The update also includes several fixes, including fixing an issue with Edit In Photoshop not working from Lightroom and Photoshop commands missing from Bridge Tools menu.
    Getting the update:
Look for the update in the Creative Cloud application and click “Update”. If it doesn’t appear, you may need to quit and re-launch the Creative Cloud application.
If you don’t have the Creative Cloud application running, start Photoshop and choose Help > Updates.
The Adobe Application Manager will launch. Select Adobe Photoshop CC (2014) and choose Update.

After some search, I found this clear part of the logs:
    09/27/14 16:55:25:234 | [INFO] |  | UPDATER | CORE |  |  |  | 6760 | CFU(Webfeed): Query licensing type for LEID  = V7{}Photoshop-15-Win-GM

    09/27/14 16:55:26:077 | [INFO] |  | UPDATER | CORE |  |  |  | 6760 | CFU(Webfeed): Patch is meant only for subscription licenses, but client doesn't have a valid subscription license.
    09/27/14 16:55:26:077 | [INFO] |  | UPDATER | CORE |  |  |  | 6760 | CheckForManualApplicableUpdates : default Locale was found to be---- = en_US
    09/27/14 16:55:26:077 | [INFO] |  | UPDATER | CORE |  |  |  | 6760 | CheckForManualApplicableUpdates : The update is not applicable as per licensing checks
It means the update for Photoshop 2014.1 and 2014.2 can only be installed with subscription licenses, but not on perpetual licenses (our case).
To workaround that, it would be needed to change
    <TargetLicensingType>1</TargetLicensingType>
    to
    <TargetLicensingType>3</TargetLicensingType>
    inside "UpdateManifest.xml"
But it would broken the signature of that file as recorded in "UpdateManifest.sig"
As an information, technically we have
    LicenseType 3 LicenseStatus 1 , mapped LEID V7{}Photoshop-15-Win-GM
Finally, I think only Adobe can fix this mess with PS update.

One Adobe ID supports two activation of CC irrespective of the type (single/complete/Team). If you buy the complete CC with the same Adobe ID, it will allow to activate it two times though you you will be assigned space of single app cc + the complete CC.
You can buy the Complete CC with a different Adobe ID.

  • Windows 2003 R2 Gray Screen Hang on HP DL380 G5 when restarting or shutdown after Nov/Dec 2011 Windows Update

I’ve 4 identical HP DL 380 G5 Servers with Windows 2003 R2 Std.  The 4 machines have the same Windows driver version and motherboard BIOS version.  2 have no problem.  2 have problems after Nov/Dec 2011 Windows Update!
After running for a few days from power-up, the 2 problem servers will hang at gray screen during restart.  After clicking for restart,
    - The Event Log service will stop normally so there is no more error log can be seen!
    - The IP ping to the server can still work.  The mouse pointer in Windows can still be moved.
    - The Windows shutdown gray screen can be shown.
    - [Ctrl-Alt-Del] has stopped to function.
Then the system just freezes at that status.  I can only cold-boot the system!
After power-up again, I can do the Windows restart / shutdown normally!  But after a few day of running, the above symptom repeats!  The symptom happened since I installed the Windows Update in Dec 2011.  It didn’t happen before that!
Anyone can give a hint on how to diagnose it?

    Hi,
In order to troubleshoot the server hang issue, you can first preform a clean boot on the problematic system.
    Steps:
    ====================
     1. Click Start->Run…->type
    msconfig and press Enter
    2. Click Services tab and select Hide All Microsoft Services
and Disable All third party Services
    3. Click Startup tab and Disable All startup items
    4. Click OK and choose Restart
    5. After reboot, check whether the problem still occurs
If the server hang on issue still continues in clean boot mode, for the further troubleshooting, you may check in the Task Manager to see which process takes the memory resources.
Meanwhile, you can also use reliability and performance Monitor to track down what cause the performance issue.
