SP1 Cumulative update 4 stuck on "Downloading information"

I have a server that is attempting to install the SP1 CU4 update for SCCM 2012 client but never succeeds. If you go into the Software Center on the machine, the status is continually stuck at "Downloading information".
I tried to force it by copying the installation package to the server and running the command line option specified in the package properties (msiexec.exe /p configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2922875-x64.msp /L*v %TEMP%\configmgr2012ac-sp1-kb2922875-x64.msp.LOG /q REINSTALL=ALL
REINSTALLMODE=mous). The installation ran and appears to have been applied successfully (the version of the client shown in Control Panel --> Configuration Manager Properties went from 5.00.7804.1000 to 5.00.7804.1500) and the Software Center icon
went away afterwards.
I was just finishing up congratulating myself when I received a notification from the Software Center again that software was being installed. I opened up Software Center, and there it was again - SP1 CU4 stuck at "Downloading information".
I've rebooted several times, but Software Center continues to pop up every time with same status.
One thing I should note, I recently migrated my SCCM server to new hardware and this "problem server" was installed after the migration. Prior to that, all of my other servers received the SP1 CU4 without issue. Both servers (SCCM and
problem server) are Windows Server 2012 R2.

Thanks for the reply Anoop.
I checked the logs mentioned in the article, and everything looks fine as far as I can tell up until "Step 5: Tracking the Content Download."
In the "DataTransferService" log, there are numerous error messages:
[CCMHTTP] ERROR: URL=http://server.domain.local:80/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/RIC00009, Port=80, Options=224, Code=0, Text=CCM_E_BAD_HTTP_STATUS_CODE
Error sending DAV request. HTTP code 404, status 'Not Found'
GetDirectoryList_HTTP('http://server.domain.local:80/SMS_DP_SMSPKG$/RIC00009') failed with code 0x87d0027e.
So looks like I have an IIS problem? I opened IIS Manager, and browsed to the directory on the DP server. In that directory, I see several other directories (DataLib, FileLib, PkgLib). I assume my package information should be in the "PkgLib" folder, but
inside that folder are just four .INI files (RIC00001.INI, RIC00002.INI, etc). There is no RIC00009.INI file, maybe that's my problem?
I also went into Config Mgr Console --> Administration --> Distribution Points, went to the properties of my Distribution Point, then to the "Content" tab, highlighted my package and clicked "Validate". Not sure though what this accomplishes.

  • SINGLE SCCM UPDATE STUCK AT DOWNLOADING 0% COMPLETE

I'm posting this because while there are multiple threads on the Internet about all patches on a client stuck at "downloading 0% complete", there's very little on when only one patch is stuck there network-wide. This was the "Windows Malicious
Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1 and Windows Server 2013, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - September 2014  (KB890830)". On this network it would not download on any machine. Other versions of the Sept 2014 version of 890830 did install, so it was clearly
something specific to this version of that update. After awhile, I decided to try something that worked for me: Delete the deployment that applies to the machine in question, update distribution points from the package in question, run Machine Policy on the
box in question, wait til the update clears off the Software Center screen, and then run Machine Policy and Software Updates Deployment on the Actions tab. Then the patch installed fine. Hope this helps someone else!

I just figured this out while typing this. One of the suggested threads that appeared when I was typing lead me to the answer for my case. The IIS App Pool for DPs was using an account that did not have rights to particular folder. Some security setting
pushed by the security server changed something. I changed to App Pool to an account that had the needed rights, restarted IIS, and the downloads started working. Maybe this will fix my secondary DP problem too.

  • Windows Update stuck on downloading on Server 2012

    Hi,
Using VMWare Workstation 9, I created new virtual machine where I installed Windows Server 2012 Standard edition from MDSN disk en_windows_server_2012_x64_dvd_915478.iso  In the Server 2012 virtual machine, when I go to check for updates it says
there are important updates available so I click on Install Updates.  It then just gets stuck on downloading updates for hours and nothing ever happens.  Stuck at 0 KB total, 0% complete.  I am able to access web pages using Internet Explorer
with no problem so the machine does appear to have connectivity to the Internet.  If I go to help, click on "What can I do if I'm having problems installing updates?" and click on "Tab or click to open the Windows Update troubleshooter"
it says "Windows Online Troubleshooting Service is not enabled for this version of Windows."  Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks,
    Greg

I had a similar problem with a guest Windows 2012 R2 running on a Hyper-V host. I went to the network adapter in device manager in the guest and I disabled the "Large Send Offload Version 2 (IPv4)" option. Why? Well, this was also an issue previously when
guesting Windows 2008 where the symptom was an error 80072ee2 when retrieving updates. See this post
http://blog.ronnypot.nl/?p=310 for details. Anyway, I tried this and it worked for me. Hung before the change, worked after.

  • Security updates stuck at downloading (0% complete)

    Hi.
I have a server that I am trying to get the updates to install through software center. I have verified that the correct boundary is created and that the packages are at the DP. In software center all the updates just say downloading (0% complete). I read
about checking IIS and I verified that all the correct settings are in place. I have checked the ContentTransferManager.log file it just states that CTM job {E376AB38-8BAE-41CC-8CDD-6C29A7AF3C37} entered phase CCM_DOWNLOADSTATUS_DOWNLOADING_DATA
Does anyone know what else I can check?
    Thank you.

Does that CTM job belong to the download of your updates? Other client log files that you could check are
LocationServices and CAS. For a list of all the log files, see:

  • SP1 Cumulative Update 3 Stuck at 0% Downloading

I am having an issue with the SP1 CU3 x64 Client Update for SCCM on a small percentage of client PCs where it just sits at "Downloading (0% complete).
The PCs are on multiple subnets/boundaries as loads of other PCs that I've successfully deployed to so it doesn't look like a boundary issue.
Endpoint Protection updates are working fine and so are Windows Updates, it's just this one that is problematic.
I've just deployed February's Windows Updates to this machine and I can see in Software center those updates downloading OK up until the point the CU3 update for SCCM starts downloading and then all downloads stop.
I've also noticed that in Monitoring under the progress tab for the problem update the description says "Waiting for content", which seems strange as there are plenty other PCs in the same boundaries which can see the content OK.
    Any ideas?
    Hibs Ya Bass!

You need to check the log locationservice.log and ContentTransferManager.log. See if there any errors when downloading the update.

    Hi There,
Sorry for not getting back before now but I've just been real busy.
I've checked both those logs and I can't see anything glaringly obvious. The Location log looks like this. It finds the correct AD site and the correct DP.
The content transfer log looks like this. It's going to the correct DP and attempting to download the content but on the client it just sits at 0% complete.

  • Adobe Community Help Application Updates - Stuck in download process

I read in the forums where people have had problems with the initialization of the download freezing, but my problem is that when I download the local updates... The download itself freezes. When I try to update everything at once, it hangs up every time, so I went to: Adobe Help -> Preferences -> Manually update my locally stored Help content. It lets me download almost all of the files one by one, but by the last couple of them, they start to freeze up. I read in the forums to throw away the application icon and then dump the chc.4875E02D9FB21EE389F73B8D1702B320485DF8CE.1 folder from library -> preferences and empty my trash (I'm on a MAC... BTW). Then re-install the app from the website. It works until I get to the last couple of downloads... Then they freeze again. This is very frustrating. Is there another way to resolve this issue? I really would like my workflow back. Happy New Year! =)

The uninstall then re-install and download the files one by one thing worked, finally! It only took me two days to update a program that should've taken an hour... MAX! I hope this information helps out the next person that runs into this problem.

Hi! Does anyone know what this error Message means?
I have an old update I can't seem to download, even if the server has been installed recently with other updates. The update exists in the SCCM console, and exists on at least one of our Windows Update packages, which in turn are Distributed correctly

I found directories and files in these folders, I've searched through all my distribution Points:
     Directory of D:\SCCMContentLib\DataLib

  • Cumulative Update 4 installation for SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi all,
This is  my first time installing a CU update on SCCM 2012.
We have an environment with 15 Servers, 1 is a Primary and the other are Site System Servers.
Would I need to install the CU4 update only to the Primary server? or would I have to deploy the CU4 to the other 14 Site Systems Servers.
    I've been reading the following
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3026739
    http://dekeukelaere.com/2014/01/30/implementing-configuration-manager-2012-sp1-cumulative-update-4/
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2014/01/29/now-available-cumulative-update-4-for-system-center-2012-configuration-manager-service-pack-1.aspx
And also if they don't have CU3 on them would I need to do that first, or would
    CU4 encompass previous updates.
Cheers for any help on this matter.

When they're only site systems with a role installed than those roles will be upgraded with the primary site installation. Here is one of the many nice posts about the installation process (and order):
    http://www.scconfigmgr.com/2015/02/03/install-configmgr-2012-r2-cu4-in-your-hierarchy/
Also, you don't have to install CU3 first.

So, I have decompressed my brand new download of Exchange 2013 SP1. This was downloaded from the link at the bottom of the post.
So to start my upgrade I have tried to start by running the schema preparation which then advises me that I am welcomed to:

Is this poor QA or was the incorrect file uploaded?

    Hello,
Powershell need full path to file you want to run.
So you should run .\setup.exe instead of just setup.exe.
    Hope this help.

    Hi SelvaOnline,
I would recommend to install SP2 and the hotfix that came after it.
If you don't have a reason to install a CU than don't bother with it.
    SP2:

  • Cannot download cumulative update for Office 2010 December 2014

I tried to download the cumulative update for Office 2010 (December 2014) at the following link:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn789213(v=office.14)
When you click the link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB3020815) you get to an "oops" page.
    Oops!
The page you are looking for may have a new location, or is no longer available.
Does anyone have a link that works for that update?
    Thanks,

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office

  • How do I find out if something is blocking my access to i-tunes. I have updated all of my information on their website, but am still unable to purchase music downloads.

I can connect to i-tunes website. when I go to store to browse, I need to click on the i-tunes task bar under view to show options for browsing. It does not show the grid anymore unless I do that first. once I make a selection and click "buy" it tells me that i need to update my credit card information. I have already done that. I have checked i-tunes help and they sent e-mail suggesting that it is an issue on my computer.

is there a way of getting rid of "local caches from apps, browsers, mail, Messages, Reading List, saved games" other than a backup and restore ?

  • I can't update Firefox. It seems stuck on downloading 3.6.4. I have an IMac G5 with OS 10.5.6

I get a message that Firefox can't install an update so will download the entire file. A screen appears with an installation progress bar which never goes away.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop.<br />
You can find the latest Firefox release here:
    *Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
*Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

  • Lumia 822 App download/update stuck in "pending"

    Hi all,
Recently starting having issues with my phone (Lumia 822) that mostly seem to be connectivty related (I'm guessing).
About a month or so after updating to WP 8.1/Lumia Denim I began to have several data related issues.
    1. Data Sense stopped working to the point that I can't even open the app. Attempts to "resume" then kicks back to the start screen.
    2. A short time later my apps stopped downloading, both updates and new.
    3. Then i started having issues with my Here Maps saying it can't connect to the maps library right now. The apps actually don't do anything now so I'm guessing my old maps are corrupted or gone.
I tried a number of fixes including checking time and date, removing and reseating my SD card, reseating my SIM card, enabling/disabling installing apps on the SD card, enabling/disabling auto update, enabling/disabling downloading only over Wi-Fi. No change. About a week ago I bit the bullet and wiped my phone. Everything started working again and I figured my issue had cleared. Well it's back again, same issues and I am at a loss for fixing it. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Lumia 822
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

So I finally resolved the issued. date+time was the culprit, though not in the way I thought it would be.
    To fix:
    1. Go to settings>date+time
    2. Turn off "Set date and time automatically"
    3. Check your time zone - mine was blank.
    4. Change your time zone to another zone. (didn't seem to matter which)
    5. Back out of time zone settings and see if time zone is no longer blank. (should be displaying the chosen time zone)
    6. Go back to home screen
    7. Go to settings>date+time
    8. Turn on "set date and time automatically"
    9. Restart phone
    10. Make sure app updates are set to update automatically
    11. Within about 15 minutes your first "pending" app should start to update
I'm guessing that after the update the phone either didn't pull the right time zone or was confused on it. I had manually set it during one of my first attempts to fix the issue, but apparently manually setting it to the same one that it was on didn't fix it. I'm guessing it needed to pull it from the cell tower. I noticed after daylight savings kicked in earlier that my time was always off by an hour. It seemed like the phone was on Central Time (I'm in Eastern Time Zone USA) but when I manually set it to Eastern, even though it showed it in time zone settings, when I backed into date+time it would show the time zone field blank. I set it to Central Time, backed out then reset to automatically pull and within 15 minutes my phone was working right again.
This fixed my "pending" app download issue, my time issue, my data sense issue, pretty much everything is working as it should again. I'll update if I notice anything else wrong. But for now this resolved my issue.
Thanks for all the help everyone!

    I am running Windows 8.
    Somebody having the same issue?
    Thx
    Gilles

I am pretty sure that Gilles tries to install it on a Windows 7 machine. I am running into the same problem and I am not able to use the visual studio workflow manager tools even if I try to use the workflow manager client only.
I was able to generate log files (below):
But can you please tell me how to maintain a developer host if even the simple task of updating the product dosen't work?!?
