SP1 frustration

Hi there
After experiencing the many issues with with the 2008 release I was looking forward to SP1, however there seems to be just as many issues......
Within an hour of using SP1 the application has crashed 3 times and I've found at least 4 bugs.  The state of the app makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to use and is incredibly frustrating.
The issues I've found so far are:
1.  The font colour for vertical and horizontal titles seems to randomly change - I'm using 6 charts, all with white as the font colour.  Mysteriously they've all changed to black in preview mode (white in normal mode) and whatever I do they won't change back to white.  I'll probably have to start my dashboard again but presumably the same issue will happen, so I'm wondering if I just abandon the tool altogether.
2.  Xcelsius seems to open multiple background instances of Excel when using the tool - these instances are not closed when Xcelsius is closed.  The only way to fix this is to kill them using the task manager otherwise it slows my machine down.  After a short session working with Xcelsius I had 31 instances of Excel running in the background.......
3.  The List View component produces an error when enabling the vertical scroll button.  The title row is replaced with the top most row's data and all of the formating becomes inconsistent.
4.  Within the spreadsheet component it's not possible to change the font colour, and changing the border colour has no effect.  When trying to use this component Xcelsius keeps crashing.
Please can someone help - Xcelsius is fast becoming a waste of space on my machine, and is wasting a lot of my time (and most other users I suspect).
Many thanks
Scott Wallace.

Hi Javier
Thanks for your help - much appreciated.  I'm not sure whether I can attach the xlf I'm working on to this post - please could you forward an email address?  I've highlighted all of the issues:
1.  Changing axis title font colour on charts - black in design view and white in preview mode.  I think this may be related to the use of the label based menu.
2.  Multiple instances of Excel open in the background - Is this a recognised bug, and if so is there a fix or workaround for it?
3.  List view causes machine to crash and header row formatting inconsistent - it looks like this may be related to using header cells not formatted as text in the xls?
4.  Thanks
5.  Grid component doesn't maintain its size - there are 3 grouped grid components in the attached xlf.  The one that displays the titles along the top won't maintain its size - if you ungroup, change its size to fit the data columns, save, close and reopen - the cells will have reverted to their original size.
Margaret - thanks for your input.  The correct properties windows show for the components and as you can see the xlf and associated xls are small, so hopefully this isn't causing the problems.
Thanks
Scott.

I tried another machine, 64 bit of course, as I want to deploy my application on a 64bit PC, but still got the same problem.
This other machine was from HP, iCore 3 (4 CPUs) 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM and running Windows Professional 64 bit.
Now as I see it, it could be a Run-time environment mis-match error.
For this I tried installing a 64 bit LVRTE from NI, but still no sucess.
I checked DEP, for all 3 PCs and it was set to the following
Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only (first option).
I am confused. I can not find a solution for this and it is really frustrating.

But I am assuming that when I make the installer, the 32-bit Run Time Engine is appened with the installer, as show below
Since from the picture you can see its including the support installers from '\Program Files (x86)\'
The application runs queries to fetch data from database in SQL server 2008, and for that I am using a Microsoft SQL Native Client 2008 R2 64 bit ( this is the only version that installs on either PC, even the one on which I developed my LV Application).
I am not using any driver, only toolkits for reports - and for that I un-checked the "Remove unused polymorphic VI instances" when making the executable, otherwise LV throws up an exception that share variable are not being included.
Yes I did reboot every time after I ran the installation.
    Still getting the same error.

  • Discussion About The Use Of Project Server 2013 Timesheet Custom Billing Categories (Post SP1 and April 2014 CU Install)

In support of a consulting company using timesheet custom billing categories to designate project time as billable onsite, billable offsite, and non-billable, I've encountered a series of issues which appear to be associated with the custom billing category
timesheet lines.  These issues cause timesheet users to get frustrated, and contribute to misalignment between project actuals and timesheet actuals.  We're in Single Entry Mode, no pre-population, SP1 and April 2014 CU Installed.
I'll enumerate the issues here and pose the question to the community as to whether others are experiencing any/all of these things, and if so,  ask if any workarounds have been discovered.  We're working with Microsoft to validate these independently,
but I am posing the questions to the community to gather additional information, and hopefully save some folks time in troubleshooting similar issues.
1.When time is entered on an assignment into timesheet lines of multiple billing categories, only time entered since the last save is getting saved and ultimately sent, on timesheet submit, to the approval center.  Although the previously entered and
saved time appears in the application interface when the timesheet is re-opened, only data since last save is actually saving to the server or processing through the approval center.  We believe this is the primary cause for timesheet and project actuals
    being out of alignment.
2."_ Error Loading".  When assignments are added, deleted, or changed after a timesheet has been created, standard timesheet lines are added, deleted or changed (i.e. synchronize) with the assignments. However, for custom billing category
timesheet lines, they do not change when the assignments change, and they aren’t removed if the assignment is removed.  We believe this causes secondary errors, like the "_Error Loading"  (and others as will be described below).
3.When a timesheet with time in a non-standard billing category is deleted and recreated, time is arbitrarily moved to standard timesheet lines for the same assignment. If the task assignment is subsequently removed, the timesheet line causes the timesheet
    to break.
4."Error Communicating with Server". When trying to submit a timesheet, a pop-up box appears indicating that there is an error communicating with the server.  This error appears because a timesheet line is no longer associated with a project.
In order to submit the timesheet the orphaned timesheet line must be identified and manually removed. One technique we found which helps to identify an orphaned timesheet line is to select a task and submit task progress. Repeat for all timesheet lines until
you get an error.  The timesheet line(s) with the error can be manually removed from the timesheet, fixing the error.
    5. Unable to Open Specific Timesheets without Error. There are certain scenarios when the "Remove Task" feature is used or an assignment is otherwise removed after creation of a timesheet with custom billing category lines, which causes orphaned
timesheet lines. These orphaned lines can cause issues when trying to open a timesheet. The issue can appear when timesheets are in progress in multiple periods. In the problematic scenario, time is entered and submitted in one period and subsequently
the task is 'removed' from another period before the PM processes the first approval request. Process governance can certainly help here, but improvement in the way synchronization occurs between project assignments and custom billing category timesheet lines
would be great. The error can often be resolved by re-adding the assignment for the problematic timesheet user to the project (which creates a new assignment), and then allows you to open the timesheet.  Then time can be moved from the old timesheet
line to the new timesheet line, and the old one can be removed.
In 4 and 5, sometimes we can't open a timesheet without error, and other times we can open it but not submit it. We are not 100% clear on all the different causes for each. Each of these issues are suspected to be contributing the the misalignment of
data between project actuals and timesheets, which can be a real problem for external projects for which time collected through timesheets are being used to generate invoices.
Although these may seem like separate issues, warranting separate questions, I decided to post them together because they all seem to be related to synchronization of project assignments and timesheet lines for custom billing categories.
Any thoughts or suggestions from the community would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Justin
    Justin Naughton

There are many causes for each of the errors mention.  It would be best to put one issue to the forum at a time.  For example, some of these issues occur then tasks are deleted from projects but a timesheet has been submitted.   Depending
on the scenario, some of these issues have been fixed with the latest service pack.
Other issues are due to bad scheduling habits with the project managers and so first determining what they have done can help resolve some the issues.
_error Loading, is because something is NULL in the data and the jave is choking when it build the form. Again, these may be because of delete tasks, resources, projects  or someone doing copying and pasting of rows.
    cheers!
PS.  Train your PM to not COPY and PASTE rows in project schedules.  It can be done, but it can create problems.  There are over 500 fields and some have unique data and the copy paste creates havic.

Have a look through the pages of pages of requests for help on installing Adobe Air apps on Windows 7 machines. What you'll find is that Adobe has duped a lot of people into doing basic testing on a vehicle that it should have tested thoroughly itself before release. So you'll find lengthy, highly technical and apparently idiosyncratic install logs posted, and then every once in a while Chris Campbell, Adobe's rep, comes online and says something like "Ho Hum. It doesn't seem to work. What you need to do is stand on your head while drinking a gallon of gasoline and singing through your ears. Why don't you spend another 20 hours trying that?"
Amazing. Could you imagine a supposedly legitimate company jerking people like this 50 years ago?
Don't waste your time. Air doesn't work. Find an alternative to Adobe products instead.
I wonder how long this will stay posted before somebody removes it.
    Hello,
I understand the frustration, believe me, I really do.  Unfortunately, while we do thoroughly test installers we do run into system specific issues from time to time.  I do my best to help users, going out of my way to do desktop sharing sessions (at all times of the day and night to accomidate our global user base), creating repair scripts, etc.  But you are correct, sometimes it does get technical and we do require the installer log to figure out what might be failing.  I apologize if I wasn't able to solve your problem in the past, if you can point me to a post where I didn't follow through I'd be happy to re-read it and see if we can make progress.
I promise I won't remove your post, I just ask that you keep the responses polite and try not to get personal.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Unable to Install VS 2013.4 on Windows 7 SP1 system

Over the last few day and long nights, I have tried several times to load VS 2013.4 on my Win 7 Home Premium SP1 PC with no success.  I have tried several packages including VS Community, Web, and Desktop.  Tried multiple download sites and even
copied the .iso images locally.  Every time I install I get the following message during the install...
MS ASP.net and Web Tools 2013.4 - Visual Studio Express 2013 for Web Package Failed
    and
MS ASP.net Web Pages2 run time package failed.
I have verified the check sums on the .iso image I downloaded and they match,  I have registered .DLL's, disabled anti virus & Firewall options, uninstalled KB2918614, ran the MSI "Mr. Fix it" for .net framework, and a few other I can't
    think of at the moment.
When I attempt to run VS I also get "The operation could not be completed.  No such interface supported."  I'm at a loss on what to do so I thought I would ask for a  little help in resolving my issues. Hope you folks can help
    Thanks in Advance...
    J

Another night of frustration with this install....  Today I reloaded Windows 7 SP1 and ran the fix for VS.  Still unable to get VS installed.  I'm about to give up on this product.  Here is a snip-it of what I see in the log file after
the fix.   I have applied everything I can think of as well as what the error messages  point me to.

    Anyone have any ideas???

  • After installed SP1 for SQL Server 2012, can no longer export to csv

After installing SP1 today via Windows Update, I am no longer able to export data to csv using the SQL Server Import and Export wizard. I get the following error message:
"Column information for the source and the destination data could not be retrieved, or the data types of source columns were not mapped correctly to those available on the destination provider."
"Column "col1": Source data type "200" was not found in the data type mapping file."...
(The above line repeats for each column)
The work-around I have to do is to manually map each column in the "Edit Mappings..." option from the "Configure Flat File Destination" page of the wizard. This is an extreme inconvenience to have to have to edit the mappings and change
each column to "string [DT_STR]" type from "byte stream [DT_BYTES]" type each time I want to export to csv. I did not have to do this before installing SP1; it worked perfectly for months with hundreds of exports prior to this update and
    no need to modify mapping.

I am running Windows 7 64-bit, SQL Server 2012 Express edition. Again, just yesterday from Windows Update, I installed SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 (KB2674319), followed by Update Rollup for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 (KB2793634). This situation was
not occurring before these updates were installed, and I noticed it immediately after they were installed (and of course I restarted my computer after the updates).
In SSMS I just now created a test DB and table to provide a step-by-step with screenshots.
Here is the code I ran to create the test DB and table:
    CREATE DATABASE testDB;
    GO
    USE testDB;
    GO
    CREATE TABLE testTable
    id int,
    lname varchar(50),
    fname varchar(50),
    address varchar(50),
    city varchar(50),
    state char(2),
    dob date
    GO
    INSERT INTO testTable VALUES
    (1,'Smith','Bob','123 Main St.','Los Angeles','CA','20080212'),
    (2,'Doe','John','555 Rainbow Ln.','Chicago','IL','19580530'),
    (3,'Jones','Jane','999 Somewhere Pl.','Washington','DC','19651201'),
    (4,'Jackson','George','111 Hello Cir.','Dallas','TX','20010718');
    GO
    SELECT * FROM testTable;
    Results look good:
id    lname    fname    address    city    state    dob
1    Smith    Bob    123 Main St.    Los Angeles    CA    2008-02-12
2    Doe    John    555 Rainbow Ln.    Chicago    IL    1958-05-30
3    Jones    Jane    999 Somewhere Pl.    Washington    DC    1965-12-01
4    Jackson    George    111 Hello Cir.    Dallas    TX    2001-07-18
In Object Explorer, I right-click on the [testDB] database, choose "Tasks", then "Export Data..." and the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard appears. I click Next to leave all settings as-is on the "Choose a Data Source" page, then on the "Choose a Destination"
page, under the "Destination" drop-down I choose "Flat File Destination" then browse to the desktop and name the file "table_export.csv" then click Next. On the "Specify Table Copy or Query" page I choose "Write a query to specify the data to transfer" then
click Next. I type the following SQL statement:
    SELECT * FROM testTable;
When clicking the "Parse" button I get the message "This SQL statement is valid."
On to the next page, "Configure Flat File Destination" I try leaving the defaults then click Next. This is where I am getting the error message (see screenshot below):
Then going to the "Edit Mappings..." option on the "Configure Flat File Destination" page, I see that all columns which were defined as varchar in the table are showing as type "byte stream [DT_BYTES]", size "0", the state column which is defined as char(2)
shows correctly however with type "string [DT_STR]", size "2" (see screenshow below):
So what I have to do is change the type for the lname, fname, address and city columns to "string [DT_STR]", then I am able to proceed with the export successfully. Again, this just started happening after installing these updates. As you can imagine, this
is very frustrating, as I do a lot of exports from many tables, with a lot more columns than this test table.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 | Another HTTP 500.0.0 Error

    Help!
We are in the middle of migrating from Exchange 2010 SP3 to Exchange 2013 SP1 and we are being plagued with HTTP 500 errors on every Exchange 2013 server now.
I have two Client Access servers installed (EXCHFE01 & EXCHFE02) and one backend mailbox server (EXCHMB03) with the Client Access role also installed (for troubleshooting purposes). Once I get everything working I'll install two backend 2013 servers
with the mailbox role only for production (load-balanced, clustered, etc). I still have two Exchange 2010 mailbox servers left since one has a single large mailbox left on it and the other hosts public folders. I'll get to migrating those later. All Exchange
2013 servers are running Windows Server 2012. All are on the same LAN and no firewalls are between them.
On all three 2013 servers (EXCHFE01, EXCHFE02, EXCHMB03) I'm getting the dreaded HTTP 500 error whether I try to get to OWA or ECP. This did work at one point where I could at least login to the mailbox server (EXCHMB03) and migrate all my mailboxes over
to it. Sometime this morning after the two Client Access servers were installed the mailbox server stopped working (HTTP 500 errors). This is very frustrating because I can't even login to a console to manage Exchange from any server at this point.
Both Client Access servers aren't really showing anything of value in the event logs or the IIS logs. The mailbox server (EXCHMB03) does show the following event 3002:
Protocol /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync failed to process request from identity NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. Exception: Microsoft.Exchange.Security.Authentication.BackendRehydrationException: Rehydration failed. Reason: Source server 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM' does not have token serialization permission.
    at Microsoft.Exchange.Security.Authentication.BackendRehydrationModule.ProcessRequest(HttpContext httpContext)
    at Microsoft.Exchange.Security.Authentication.BackendRehydrationModule.OnAuthenticateRequest(Object source, EventArgs args).
...and I get the following when I run the Exchange Management Shell tool on the same mailbox server (along with lots of other red HTML text):
    More Information:
This error means that there was a problem while processing the request. The request was received by the Web server, but during processing a fatal error occurred, causing the 500 error.
The Client Access servers show the following errors:

    ADSIEdit and remove msExchCanaryData0 data
    Reinstall Exchange multiple times
    Rebooted multiple times

Rebooted DCs multiple times (no exchange servers are DCs)
I'm sure I've left out a few troubleshooting steps since I've been working at this for two days. Can anybody offer any advice? I'm at my wits end here...

    Hi,
Please check whether the mail.mydomain.com is pointed to your Exchange 2010 or Exchange 2013. Please run the following command to check your OWA virtual directores and ECP virtual directories:
    Get-OwaVirtualDirectory -ShowMailboxVirtualDirectories | Select Identity,name,Internalurl,ExternalUrl,*auth*
    Get-EcpVirtualDirectory -ShowMailboxVirtualDirectories | Select Identity,name,Internalurl,ExternalUrl,*auth*
In IIS manager > Default Web Site, please make sure Anonymous Authentication is Enabled in Authentication. Confirm that "Require SSL" is checked on the SSL Settings of the default web site.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 Setup fails

I am getting very frustrated. It really shouldn't take over a week to install Exchange.
I have two domain controllers, Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 R2. The 2008 is now all Operations Masters for all roles.
I have a clean install of W2K8 R2 SP1 installed under Hyper-V on a separate physical W2K8 server. Before starting the install I used ADSIEdit to ensure there was nothing left in the AD of prior Exchange install attempts. This is the first and only installation
    of Exchange.
I am running the install as the Domain\Administrator and naturally that account is a member of all the appropriate security groups. RSAT are installed on the Exchange server and using them to access Users and Computers clearly shows this. The install fails
with the errors below, all of which appear to be incorrect.

Why can't Exchange installation see the AD when everything else can?

It appears that these error messages are pure fiction. I went back to ADSI Edit and removed some MS Exchange container and then reran setup /prepareschema again followed by setup /preparead and finally setup /mosde:install /role:clientaccess,mailbox and
it churned away for a long time, apparently working.
It appears than when it says you aren't a member of Schema Admins and that it can't access Active Directory, what it really means is it could find the AD just fine, but didn't like what it saw.
My guess would be very sloppy programming in which the low level error doesn't bubble up and so when something fails it just assumed you didn't have permissions.
It's not quite finished yet, but I am beginning to believe it will finish. So that's almost 6 days of non stop effort to install Exchange. It's hard top believe they are allowed to charge for this stuff.

  • Cannot upgrade Exchange 2010 SP1 Management Tools to SP2 on Win 8.1 workstation

I have a Win 8.1 workstation that I am trying to update the Exchange Management tools on from 2010 SP1 to SP2. I get an error that says:
           Error:
The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); &RoleBinPath\ServiceControl.ps1 EnableServices Critical" was run: "AuthorizationManager check failed.".
The WMI service is being disabled and not starting back up after, causing the error. I have tried the following:
-Confirmed that the ExecutionPolicy is set to undefined/unrestricted for the localmachine
-Confirmed no GPO exists in our domain to restrict this
Every single time I run the install the WMI service switches to disabled and the localmachine Execution Policy is switched to RemoteSigned.
I have tried the Google search steps except for the Setup /M:Recoverserver since I really don't know what that would do to our Exchange environment. I have seen some posts that the Exchange 2010 MGMT tools are not supported on Win 8, which I find hard to
believe. I get no unsupported error just this incredibly frustrating error.
    Any ideas?

What you are doing is totally unsupported:

    Solaris 9: LMS 3.2 SP1 (LMS 3.2.1) and CSCtn45425
the point patch for CSCtj01051 breaks Apache on Solaris 9 because libm.so.2 cannot be found (it exists on solaris 10 not solaris 9).
In the ReadMe of LMS 3.2 SP1 it states that CSCtj01051 is solved.
But does it take respect of CSCtn45425 also or will the installation of SP1 on solaris 9 break Apache ?

  • SQL 2012 SP1 Enterprise (SSRS in SharePoint mode): Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services

    Hello,
SSRS in SharePoint mode is driving me insane.
We are recreating a SharePoint 2013 (SP1) farm in a test environment with the following set-up:
    2 SP Web FrontEnds
    2 SP Application Servers
    1 SQL Server
At both SP APP Servers, we installed SSRS (SQL 2012 Enterprise w/ SP1) in SP integrated mode.
We managed to start the SSRS SP service at the first SP APP Server. However when we try to start it on the second APP Server, we get the following error:
"Reporting Services scale-out deployment is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. This edition only supports one instance of the SQL Server Reporting Services Service in the farm.  The SQL Server Reporting Services service cannot
be started on this server unless it is stopped on all other servers in the farm. "
Now I can't stress this enough: This is a SQL Server 2012 SP1 Enterprise. This is the image we got from our MSDN subscription. There is no mistake here.
Could someone please advise why SP might think this version of SSRS is not the correct one?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hello,
I'm afraid that is not it.
After a long, frustrating and strenuous investigation and troubleshooting, we found the problem.
The problem is the current ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP1 (x64) found at MSDN. Bear in mind that we downloaded this ISO from MSDN about a month ago.
As soon as we recreated the environment using the ISO for SQL Server 2012 Enterprise SP2 (x64) found at MSDN, everything worked as expected -- and that includes running more than one SSRS in SharePoint mode.
Also bear in mind that we tried updating the SQL SP1 install with SP2 and subsequent cumulative updates but that never fixed the problem.
There is something fundamentally wrong with that ISO with SP1 slipstreamed in it that no matter the subsequent updates installed, SSRS in SharePoint mode fails to work properly on a multi-server environment. We went as far as SP2 with CU3 and nothing seemed
to fix the problem. And yes, we also performed manual updates to the SSRS and PowerPivot SharePoint MSI add-ins.
I am shocked and distraught to find out that I lost hours of work due to a dodgy ISO image.
    Regards,
    P.

  • Building App Gives Error 6 about 50 - 80 - 99% of the time. Windows7, LabVIEW 2010 SP1

    Hi
First off here is a link to a discussion of the problem.  http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Error-6-occurred-when-building-an-Executable-in-Labview-2009/m-p/997...
I have tried all the suggestions on this link with no luck.
Background:   have been using LabVIEW 2010 without problems since Sept, then I started getting the error 6 with the following message.
" Error 6 occurred at Delete in AB_Engine_Delete_Internal_Files.vi->AB_EXE.lvclass:Build.vi
    ->AB_Engine_Build.vi->AB_Build_Invoke.vi->AB_Build_Invoke.vi.ProxyCaller "
This started on one project and is now occurring on another project.  Sometimes it builds 50% of the time, other times I can't get it to build at all.  I have upgraded to SP1, no change.
Here are some things I have tried.
    Moved build directory to c:\a
Renamed project, moved project right under c:\
Disabled Google , disabled Win indexing, disabled Win7 user acct. Control, run LabVIEW as Admit all the time, win explorer closed
mass compiling, closing the project, closing LabVIEW, re-booting
    Unistalled LabVIEW 2010 SP1 and re-install, twice.
I believe I rebuilt my project in a new project.
I moved my projects to a WinXP system laptop I have, and they never get Error 6 !  Short term fix, but I have to use Win7.  So I hope this means it is not my code.
The funny thing is that this is totally random.  The unfunny thing is having to explain to a client I can't get my code to compile during a frustrating 95% of the time failure episode, yikes!
Any help and suggestions would be welcome.
BTW, the next step is to totally uninstall LabVIEW with a 'special' procedure and piece of code sent to me.  Don't want to, but am really at wits end.  Also waiting to hear back from my service ticket, but am desperate to have parallel solutions to try.
    Thanks
    Mark Ramsdale

    Thanks for the clarify.
I also meant to post this link.  It has a lot of info, this is the link I tried most if not all of the suggestions for.
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Get-Error-6-about-50-of-time-when-building-Application/td-p/1242634
By the way, I was told that uninstalling LabVIEW will not resolve the issue, dodged a time killer :-)
It seems the error is caused by Win7 and file reserving.  Waiting to hear back on that.  Have an SR.
Again, any suggestions welcomed, maybe some Win7 ideas from those who know more about it.

  • Windows Frustration

    Greetings.
About a year ago we did an interactive sales piece in flash
that loads and unloads different FLV files contained within SWFs
for each section. It was recently brought to our attention that you
can only watch each video one time on Windows based machines. Once
you leave the section you are in and come back it will not play
again. This was not an issue at all on Macs but for some reason the
flash exe files were having this trouble.
I immediately figured that we had left out the unload movie
command in the action script, and that it was only allowing it to
load one time, and was technically still there when the viewer came
back to it- hence not starting at the beginning and appearing
missing. I was right. I went through then entire project and added
unload movie commands for level 1 just ahead of the load movie
command in each section, thus giving a blank slate to load from. It
worked perfectly on the test PC so I figured the problem was solved
    and duplicated/labeled 15 disks.
NOW I find out that my testing was inadequate. My fix only
works for windows 98 and older machines, but everything running XP
or newer still only gets one viewing per loaded movie. Even if you
dont leave that section, but click the heading to get back to the
beginning, it unloads and wont return. Really frustrating.
I always thought than an .exe file was generic and would play
on all PCs Thats why we keep an old 98 machine in the office for
testing, because it stands to reason that if something works
smoothly on old equipment, newer machines should have no troubles
    at all.
Does anyone know if there is some kind of OS specific code to
make this functionally active in XP? Is this a known issue when
loading/unloading FLV files? I havent seen any mention of this
elsewhere, so any ideas at all would be great.
    Thanks!
    -J

what version of xp is your dell ? if its not got sp1 on it  then xp wont see full size of your 160gb it'll only see 137gb
    Quote
    Syar2003
The "old dell xp cd" isn't by anychance without sp1 . If installing
on a partition you have made >137GB you get errors .
the best solution restart install - after the repair prompt :-
    1) delete current partition
    2) Create a new partition say 80gb (it'll only tae 1/2 time to format )
        Format & install on this
    3) Install Sp1 or Sp2 & rest of mobo drivers etc.,
    3) Once windows is installed & updated it will see the full 160gb drive & you can then use admin tools disc management to create a nother primary partition of 80gb.
see How to partition and format your hard disk by using the Windows XP Setup program
    if your unsure.
Sorry for false start Moral of story post your specs (1st)

  • Why sql sERVER products are so frustratingly complicated to install???

    Dear Ms Team,
I found MS SQL Server products are frustrating, complex  and difficult while installing.
As per my experience , installing SQL sever need to follow some experts tips.
During installation it will ask for sp1 need to install first, Powershell, >net framework.. blah blah blah......
Why don't u packed the whole compnts in single setup or download automatically thru online.
Except SQLserver 2005 Express edition , none of the other types are easy to install.
Even some people need to format the system to reinstall SQL server.
Currently I am trying to install SQLSever2014 in my Win8.1 32 system, Installation completed successfully but now after clicking SQL Management studio is not working at all.
Error Mess can't find one or more components, Please reinstall.
After trying reinstall doesn't work. Dear Team why this complexity???
    SQLEXPR_x86_ENU
    SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU.exe
EVEN IF  i TRY INSTALLINg SQlserver management Studio 2008R2, It doesn't allow to install stating blah blah again.
Services for SQL server and Browser are running but anable to Open Mgmt studio.
    What is the solution

  • Bug or design in Weblogic 6 SP1?

In Weblogic 6 SP1 console, the DEFAULT web application cannot be
redeployed by unchecking and checking the "deployed" box. The
result is, if I update any code in my application, or I have to
rely on the automatica redelpoy work, or restart the server. The
problem is definitely not from the application setup since it
works smoothly without Service Pack1 and it also works as non-
default Web application, for example, when I just make a copy of
the same application and set it as non-default. It is really a
frustrating new feature if it is a new design.
Also when the console is set as default Web application, the
left pane applet will not appear and socket errors are expected
    somewhere.

    Jay Fowler wrote:
Is this a bug or a feature?I wouldn't call this a bug (defined as "does not work as designed"). I

The CGI/JSP that creates the normal redirects is apparantly not checking
for the existence of User Home Dirs and placing its redirects above them
in the obj.conf. You can define all you redirects via the Admin
    interface, then manually move the
    NameTrans fn="unix-home" from="/~" subdir="public_html"

you define a redirect that is based off of "/~foo".
