SP2010 - Documents migrated from different farm cause login prompts when opening..

We have 3 SharePoint farms (Dev/Test/Prod) and we migrated Word documents between them a couple of different ways.. AvePoint's DocAve, copy from Explorer view of the two farms and Download/Upload.
The documents were originally created on  the development farm.
When we open documents in the production farm, the user is prompted with a login box to login to the development farm. New documents created in the production farm don't prompt.
Anyone know where / what information is being stored in the document that would reference the old farm? and how to clear it?

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that documents migrated from different farm cause login prompts when opening.
I try to reproduce the issue, however, everything works well.
I recommend as below:
Open the site in the browner, click tool->Compatibility View Setting->Add the site to be displayed in Compatibility View.
Click Tool->Internet Options->Security->Trusted Sites.
Click Tool->Internet Options->Security->Restricted sites->Allowed level for this zone: Medium.
Modify your registry settings for the WebClient service.
Go to the file's properties > Security > Advanced  > and Inherit the permissions.

    iPhoto 9.6 cannot open iPhoto Libraries on CD/DVD. The iPhoto Library needs to be on a writable storage.  Copy the iPhoto library from the disk to a folder in your Pictures folder. And then run the iPhoto Library Upgrader on that copy, see this link:  iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader

    I have 15000 photos in my 1Phooto library in 58 events. I have also made 27 slide shows from some of these events. When opening iPhoto, the photoscome up slmost instantly but the side bar seems to take forever to come up.  Is there s limit to the amount of photos yu can have or to the amount if items in the side bar?

    Try this basic troubleshooting technique:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    Click to view full size
    3 - reboot
    4 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Compare 2 Document Libraries from different Site Collections

    Hello,
    We are in the middle of migrating from SP 2013 to SP 365 and I would like to be able to compare the documents from our existing document libraries to what was moved over to the corresponding 365 document library.  Is there a search feature in Windows
    or something easy someone can tell me about?  Right now I am taking screen shots of the 2 libraries and doing this manually.  I added a 'count' in my view in the library and that helped a little but thought there would be a search or something like
    that.  Any help is much appreciated!
    Joanie

    Hi
    You can use ShareGate tool to compare or even move your whole document library to SP 365 with content and permissions.
    Also it comes with 15 day trial so you can review it and use it without any problem for 15 days

  • Disable prompt when opening document from intranet

    I am developing a new company intranet using Sharepoint Services 3.0 on Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2.
    On my intranet I have a series of links pointing to documents in a library.
    My problem is that for every MS Office file I open I get a prompt box from IE asking '"What do you want to do with this file - open, Save, Save As".  This is going to drive our users mad.
    What I want to do is turn-off this prompt so that when the user clicks the link it just opens the file.
    I can understand why this prompt would occur when accessing an 'outside' website but it's an unnecessary hurdle on an internal only intranet.
    I am using IE9 on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit but the only 'solutions' I can find anywhere on the web all refer to previous versions of IE & Windows; none of them seem to work with the IE9/Win7 combination.  I should also point out I get a similar
    scenario with the Avant browser, but IE is our company default installation.
    Is there anything in Sharepoint Services that I'm missing that governs how documents etc. are opened from a link in a sharepoint site?

    Yes, it's in the Local Intranet zone.
    It would seem there is an option for this in Sharepoint, called Browser File Handling, but it only exists in Sharepoint 2010, it's not available in Sharepoint Servicves 3.0 which is why I couldn't find it.
    I have now found a couple of workarounds but they are not ideal as they involve editing the Windows registry, and I don't really want to do that on every users computer, but just in case anyone else wants to know here they are.
    Create registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\AttachmentExecute\{0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
    Create REG_BINARY values in this key for each product required eg. Excel.Sheet.8, PowerPoint.Show.8, Word.Document.8
    Alternatively in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT set the EditFlags value for each product required to 00 00 01 00.
    As always, recommendation is to back up the registry before changes and don't attempt the above if you're not confident with registry editing.
    If anybody knows of a simpler way to always open files from a Sharepoint site without prompting then I'd still like to know.

  • Avoid Database Login prompt when using CrystalReportViewer

    Is there a way to keep the Database Login prompt from coming up when using Crystal Reports runtime 2008 SP2? I'm using that plus Visual Studio 2008 to develop a Windows Form application to view reports on a client machine that accesses data on a seperate SQL Server 2005 machine. My customer would like to avoid having users manually enter anything everytime a report is opened with the Crystal Reports viewer.
    I've used the following code with ODBC and OLE DB report connections. When I use ODBC, the prompt comes up with Integrated Security checked which must be cleared. When I use OLE DB, the prompt comes up with Database Name blank and greyed out so I cannot manually enter it.
    Am I missing something here?
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms
    Public Class Form1
        Private Sub setDatabaseLogon(ByVal myConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo)
            Dim logOnInfos As TableLogOnInfos = CrystalReportViewer1.LogOnInfo
            For Each logOnInfo As TableLogOnInfo In logOnInfos
                logOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = myConnectionInfo
            Nex
        End Sub
        Private Sub ConfigureCrystalReports()
            Dim myConnectionInfo As ConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
            setDatabaseLogon(myConnectionInfo)
            myConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "ClearView"
            myConnectionInfo.UserID = "reports"
            myConnectionInfo.Password = "dstreports"
            myConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity = False
        End Sub
        Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
            ConfigureCrystalReports()
        End Sub
    End Class

    Thanks Jonathan for the tip. I tried it before and after the setDatabaseLogin call yesterday, but got the same results. I'm still going to follow your suggestion because that makes more sense.
    Turns out it was the configuration of my ODBC/System DSN that was causing the problem. I reconfigured the System DSN by clearing the check box to provide username/password and now I don't get the Database Login anymore.
    I found a different blog post that answered the OLE DB issue I was seeing where the DatabaseName was coming up blank:
    Login Error Database at Runtime
    Haven't tried it yet and probably won't because I got the Viewer to work with ODBC the way I like it.
    Thanks for the help!

  • KM login prompt when saving

    I have a normal KM Navigation iView watching a KM folder path. This folder has an excel file in it. When the end user clicks the excel file, it prompts to Open, Save or Cancel as normal. Choosing Save works as expected. Choosing Open works as expected. After it opens, if I choose Save As from the File menu of IE, I get prompted for a login. Why is this? If I choose Cancel on the login (twice), it then gives me the ability to save. How can I prevent this login screen?
    We use Windows based auth with AD.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Excel isn't authenticated on the portal, therefor it gives the logon message.
    Open means: IE downloads the file in the tmp folder and calls Excel. Excel will open the tmp version and not the online version. Clicking on Save, Excel wants to store the file on the original location (portal). To do so, you'll need to logon.

  • How to avoid login prompt when viewing reports

    Hello,
    I am trying to access a report that I have put in the shared reports folder
    I have copied the URL, see below, from the copy shortcut link.
    However I am being prompted for a User name and password
    http://server:port/OracleBAM/12345/reportserver/default.jsp?Event=viewReport&ReportDef=6&Buttons=False&ReportParameters=()
    Can you please advise
    a) If I can bypass or default a username and password in the URL
    b) If the above is not achievable then do I need to set up each person, viewing the report, with a username and password and somehow pass these credentials in with the URL.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
    I am sure its too late to post a reply for this question but it will be useful for others.
    Yes, you can bypass the login prompt by implementing SSO to the BAM with a default username/password.
    You can write a simple java code to simulate the process of submitting a login form, thus allowing users to access weblogic protected resources, like BAM report URL, without re-entering the username and password in the login page.
    You can use HTTP client API to simulate Form Based HTTP Authentication. It will have to first post HTTP request to authenticate default user 'weblogic' and then from HTTP response get the cookie and pass it to the subsequent HTTP request (with the report URL) to access protected resource.
    I had the same requirement and it worked for me :).
    Thanks

    Hi Venkat,
    Switching career half the way is very risky especially shifting to SAP career.
    SAP career will prove to be very good career provided you get an opportunity. In other word if you get an appropriate JOB.
    But, unfortunately SAP Job market is very much saturated.
    If you surf through SCN community every next question related to career is for opportunity.
    Even certified / qualified and experienced professionals are struggling for Job on SAP platform.
    So, my advice to you is,
    Please do all ground level analysis and make sure to have a Job or to have at least 50% occupancy before you decide to switch to SAP career.
    Please read my given below blog,

  • MacWrite document migration from powerbook 3400 to new Word Document

    I have migrated all of my old documents from my old powerbook 3400 to my new macbook. Unfortunately many of them were created in MacWrite. I need to know how to convert them into new microsoft word format. They all currently open into gobblety-gook mumbo jumbo stuff that I can't read. ANY suggestions?

    hrasmus,
    It may have been you that posted some time ago about getting these documents off the PB3400 and onto a new Mac. Glad that this has been accomplished.
    I just have ideas, not sure if any of it will work, but it won't break anything to try.
    AppleWorks could read original MacWrite documents (yes, I still have a dozen or so waiting to be converted too, I do them as I need them) so if you can find a 30 day demo version to download you're in business. But I'm not sure it's Intel OR Leopard compatible. Google is your friend.
    Related to this, the AppleWorks replacement is Pages, part of iWork. You will have a demo version of this on your MacBook discs (I think - tho' I didn't get it with my 2008 Mac Pro). Anyway the demo is a free download from Apple. As the AW (AppleWorks) replacement, I'm hoping that it can open these documents preserving the formatting.
    If you have no luck, post back and we'll figure out something else. I might try opening my MacWrie docs from 1986 in Pages.
    I "upgraded" to MS Word 3.01 in 1987, I though it was the best software ever after struggling with big documents (12 pages) and MacWrite v1.1, so most of my hundreds of docs from the time are in the primitive .doc format.
    Edit:
    Well, I've spent too long researching, trying to convert some of my old documents.
    The MacLinkPlus software does a sterling job on MacWrite II, MacWrite Pro, but there's no luck with original MacWrite 1.1 files - which mine are also.
    AppleWorks v6 doesn't open them either.
    And Pages definitely doesn't either.
    Fortunately, I still have my old SE, on which I can reopen all the documents and save them individually as RTF.
    I found my old copy of WriteNow v3, it managed to open the MW1.1 files and migrated them to WriteNow3.0 files before crashing. These WriteNow files were salvageable by a plain text editor. All formatting lost and lots of extra characters, but the original text was there to read.
    I'll try more tomorrow.

  • Document Migration from CRM to SAP Content Server

    We are going live with SAP CRM 7.0 next week. CRM team configured some of applications like ITSM, Change Request Management and Transport Request database also as part of implementation.
    We got last minute requirement that CRM team would like to go-live with current configuration with current configuration and eventually they would like to migrate all documents to Content server.
    We do not have content server in place yet and planning to implement sometime in Feb.  I am trying to explore ways how we can export existing documents created in CRM and migrate to Content server and link it.
    Any ideas/Suggestions?
    Thanks,

    In which repository are the documents currently stored in CRM? Please see if Note 688241 on 'Relocating large SAP Content Server Repositories' could be of any assistance to you.

  • Essbase migration from different env

    Hi All,
    I need to migrate CUBE from DEV to QA env, I use the Essbase Administration tool to connect DEV and QA Essbase server, I copied the application from DEV to QA, after I test in the OBIEE report, found only the dimensions have data, the fact have no data,
    I am wondering what would be the standard migration steps for Essbase cube?
    Is there any one who have the same problem?
    please help.
    thanks & regards
    henry He

    Hi,
    Did you export data?
    Can you try to pull the data through excel or just with preview option in EAS(only for non unicode applications). If you see data here then there should be some problem pulling the combinations of data in OBIEE.
    Can you see if there are any index/pag files for application in QA? this will also confirm if your application has any data.
