SPA-50x RFC 4235 support

As I have not been able to find any way to submit a support case to Cisco regarding these phones, and in hopes that someone from Cisco may see this, I'd like to request full support for RFC 4235 in the SPA-50x series phones. This is so that in SIP proxy environments the SPA phones can provide their own presence information to the server. The server would SUBSCRIBE to the phone, and the phone would send NOTIFYs of type application/dialog-info+xml whenever there is a state change (ringing, on the phone, etc.). The acceptable Expires time received in a SUBSCRIBE should also be allowed to be VERY short (1 second) so that if the proxy needs to only see what calls are ringing on the phone in order to intercept them, it won't have to make a persistent subscription to the phone.
I have attached a packet capture showing how Polycom sends NOTIFYs on state change in accordance with RFC 4235. If anyone knows how to get this information to the Cisco SPA team for review I would greatly appreciate letting them see this.
If you have any questions post here and I will attempt to answer them.

    Hi Vamshi,
For JDBC (Sender/Receiver )Scenario we have to Install the JDBC Drivers on XI Server.
Use those Driver name and Connection in JDBC Adapter to connect to the Database.
For RFC Sender Adapter we have to create the Program ID in SAP R/3 side.
For RFC Receiver no need of any Extra settings.

How to test the RFC to Flat File scenario
    Type 3 ABAP Connection :
ex 1) If we want to execute any function module from one SAP system in another , we need type 3.
We define an RFC destination say ECC6CLNT100 with required parameters.
and to test it go to SE37, select any common sap function module and when you execute that it will ask
for RFC destination. you provide this destination and the function module will be executed in the target
    system.
ex2) when you create a partner profile, you need to create a port and for creating a port, we need to
specify an RFC destination. here also we use type 3.
    Type H.
ex1) when we need to send xml messages from an SAP system to any other system, we need this.
For example when we send messages using proxy from SAP system to the integration engine of XI, we
    need type H.
    Type T.
ex1) To we make an RFC call from R/3 to XI , we use sender RFC adapter in XI.
In R/3 system we need to create an RFC destination of type T.
Different types of RFC are :-
    Asynchronous RFC - aRFC
    Synchronous RFC - sRFC
    Transactional RFC - tRFC
    Queue RFC - qRFC
    Parallel RFC - pRFC

  • What is the "Backup IP" reboot reason on the Cisco SPA 50x IP phones?

    Hi,
We have a customer, at a remote site with SPA504G phones, they have a problem with the phones rebooting once in a while, typically once an hour.
In the reboot history on the phones the reason is "Backup IP".
I cant find any reference to this in the SPA 50x manuals or anywhere else, so what do this actually mean?
The phones are deployed using SIP, and are running firmware 7.4.9c.
The phones /admin/status.xml has this information:
    <    <Reboot_Reason_1>Backup IP(01/01/2003 12:00:00)</Reboot_Reason_1>
          <Reboot_Reason_2>Backup IP(04/25/2012 07:43:29)</Reboot_Reason_2>
          <Reboot_Reason_3>Backup IP(04/25/2012 06:40:45)</Reboot_Reason_3>
    <    <Reboot_Reason_4>Backup IP(04/25/2012 05:38:02)</Reboot_Reason_4>
          <Reboot_Reason_5>Backup IP(04/25/2012 04:35:18)</Reboot_Reason_5>
The manual has information about several other reboot reasons, but I can't find any information about this "Backup IP" reason.

  • SPA 50x , ignore multicast paging while on DND

    Hello,
I saw another person post this question but went unanswered.  Is there any way to make a SPA 50x ignore a multicast page while the phone is on DND ?  I have tested this with an SPA 525g and this is how it functions already but on any of my 50x's it will still page the phone if its on DND or not.  Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • RFC SDK support on solaris-intel?

I have some questions about the “C”  SAP RFC SDK. I cannot seem to find a complete list of supported UNIX platforms.
What is the current version of the “C” RFC SDK?
Is it supported on the solaris intel platform?
I notice that the dynamic version of the RFC library (rfc32.dll)  is installed with SAP Netweaver on Windows.  Is the equivalent dynamically loaded library (i.e. librfc.so) always included with a SAP installation on UNIX as well?  Does this mean that the static libraries provided in the RFC SDK are no longer required to build a client RFC application, since a client application can dynamically load the run-time library instead?

We don't certify Solaris on NT.
You can find this information on platform support page.

  • SPA 50X and XML Application URL

    Hello Guys,
I made a XML application which runs just fine on a SPA 525 but not on the SPA 502 (have not tested on other 50X phones).
The issue is that the URL I return in a MenuItem for the tag <url> gets cut by the phone when it request it.
    The Flow is
    Phone Requests
    http://192.168.9.207/MyPhoneBridge/myphonebridge.aspx?extension=102&model=SPA123
    and gets in return
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <CiscoIPPhoneMenu><Title>Bla BLa</Title>
    <Prompt>Bla Bla Bla</Prompt><MenuItem>
    <Name>Name1</Name>
    <URL>http://192.168.9.207:80/MyPhoneBridge/myphonebridge.aspx?extension=102&model=SPA123&extensionstatus=yes</URL>
    </MenuItem>
    <MenuItem>
    <Name>Name1</Name>
    <URL>http://192.168.9.207:80/MyPhoneBridge/myphonebridge.aspx?extension=102&model=SPA123&presenceinfo=yes</URL>
    </MenuItem>
    <MenuItem>
    <Name>Name3</Name>
    <URL>http://192.168.9.207:80/MyPhoneBridge/myphonebridge.aspx?extension=102&model=SPA123&fwdrules=yes</URL>
    </MenuItem>
    <SoftKeyItem><Name>Select</Name><URL>SoftKey:Select</URL><Position>1</Position></SoftKeyItem><SoftKeyItem><Name>Exit</Name><URL>Key:Services</URL><Position>2</Position></SoftKeyItem></CiscoIPPhoneMenu>
Which ever entry i select now, i only see the request from the phone for http://192.168.9.207:80/MyPhoneBridge/myphonebridge.aspx?extension=102
All Arguments are cut. The this play then writes
XML format error or invalid application

Note that there is XML Phone Applications space dedicated to XML Phone Applications questions.
But it seems to be rather obvious issue. '&' is not allowed char in URL (it is generic rule, nothing special for SPA502). Such special char needs to be escaped accordingly. So replace all occurrences of '&' by '&amp;'. It should help.
By the way, it is mentioned in documentation.
Rate useful advices. It will help others to search solutions.

  • Cisco VCS X7.1 RFC 4480 support (Rich Presence)

    Hi all,
This is regarding Cisco VCS-C X7.1 or 7.2.
We’re trying to implement Rich Presence (RFC 4480) which is stated as supported in this document (page 34):
    http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/release_note/Cisco_VCS_Release_Note_X7-1.pdf
However, the VCS returns “Online” indication even if the system in question is in a call. There’s no “busy” status for some reason. I’m referring to the SIP PUA which gives an option for using the presence even with H.323 endpoints, given their registration in a form of URI.
Is the Rich Presence supported for Jabber only?
    Thanks!

Rich Presence isn't available for the normal endpoints, only the SIP SIMPLE status generated by the Presence User Agent (PUA).  From the on-line help:
Endpoints that do not support presence can have status published on their behalf by the VCS. The service that publishes this information is called the Presence User Agent (PUA).
The PUA takes information from the local registration database and the call manager and determines, for each endpoint that is currently locally registered, whether or not it is currently in a call. The PUA then provides this status information via a PUBLISH message.
For the PUA to successfully provide presence information about a locally registered endpoint:
The endpoint must be registered with an alias in the form of a URI.
The domain part of the URI must be able to be routed to a SIP registrar that has a presence server enabled. (This could be either the local Presence Server, if enabled, or another Presence Server on a remote system.)
When enabled, the PUA generates presence information for all endpoints registered to the VCS, including those which already support presence. The status information provided by the PUA is either:
online (registered but not in a call)
in call (registered and currently in a call)
The PUA will update and publish presence information on receipt of:
a registration request (for new registrations)
a registration refresh (for existing registrations)
    a deregistration request
    call setup and cleardown information

  • Enhancement Request for RFC 4021 Support in Mail

I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this forum, or complies with the click-through agreement which neither I nor the vast majority of anyone here probably read, but here it goes.
Mail does not appear to support RFC 4021. In particular, there are several header fields that are used by various applications that Mail cannot create in messages, and provides no means for adding in. Of interest to me is the Sensitivity header, which flags the message as having a particular sensitivity. This is used by at least one product (Cisco IronPort) through which mail flows in corporate networks with the device. If it sees this header it will automatically save the message off and send a new email with a URL that the original recipients can use to retrieve the secured message. Now, all of this is done outside of Mail and is a feature of the IronPort product. All that Mail, or any email application needs to do, is to include the appropriate header field.
I created a support case, but there is no such feature for setting the sensitivity of an email. If it is appropriate for me to do so, I would encourage you to head over to http://www.apple.com/feedback and send feedback asking for support of RFC 4021, either through an explicit GUI interface to set the sensitivity of email or through the ability to include arbitrary headers and values so that future header fields can be added without Apple having to update the application constantly. If it's not appropriate for me to do so, then I would not encourage you to head over to http://www.apple.com/feedback and provide such feedback
I'd also be interested if anyone knows how Mail processes email, and in particular sending email. My particular example unfortunately includes an exchange server (2007), so I'm guessing that it is not processed by postfix or any other application, and is sent directly from Mail to Exchange. If it were, I supposed it may be possible to include an entry in /etc/postfix/header_checks to look for a header that CAN be included via Mail, such as a BCC to a specific fictitious address, and REPLACE it with the appropriate header field. If anyone is aware of how Mail actually processes email outbound to an Exchange server I'd be interested in those details.
    Thanks,
    Fred Reimer

  • Does ASR1K SPA-24CHT1-CE-ATM supports IMA?

    Hi all,
Can you please help me to validate if the SPA-24CHT1-CE-ATM for an ASR1006 with IOS-XE version 3.10S or later supports IMA (Inverse Multiplexing for ATM) groups/configurations for its E1 ports?
I want to validate this for a C7206VXR migration which currently has active IMA E1 links using PA-IMA-E1 cards.
I already verified the configurations guides and release notes of the latest ASR1000 IOS-XE versions, but only on the release notes for IOS-XE 3.10S there is a note indicating from that version the related 24xE1 ports SPA supports ATM clear-channel configs but nothing really confirms if IMA is also supported.
The datasheet of the SPA-24CHT1-CE-ATM says that it supports IMA but I want to be sure if the configuration of IMA groups is supported in an ASR1K using IOS-XE.
    Thanks for your help,
    CB

NM-CEM-4TE1 CEoIP module in an ISR router may not work with SPA-24CHT1-CE-ATM module in a 7600 router. Using ISR router back to back will be a better solution.

  • Cisco SPA 50X Language Selection on 7.5.5

    Hello all,
I have read many threads on language selection within the forum and there seems to be no consistency.
We have a couple of SPAs which are now running 7.5.5. The trouble is, we also cannot use any other language than English.
Our SPA525er seem to be OK: you choose a language and the UI changes. But for SPA502 and SPA504 this does not work: you choose a language, the phone accepts it, but nothing changes - the UI remain in English.
Hiere is a part from our config:

Botth 7.5.5 and 7.5.4 exibit the same behaivour. And it makes no difference if we put the language selection in config or choose it from the phone UI or Web-UI - the result is the same.
I would really appreciate any help - our customers are killing us.

Factory reset solved the problem, sorry everyone.

  • High time SPA 3102 supports TLS and SDP

There have been absolutely no firmware updates in years for SPA 3102
Its a pity that SPA 3102 doesn't support TLS + SRTP with SDP (which is the default
and widely used key exchange mechanism as supposed to some proprietary method
or MIKEY that no one supports).
Grandstream has greatly overtaken with TLS +SRTP in their HT.503 that also sells much cheaper.
I have about 20 boxes of 3102 and can't throw them. I need to buy about 12 more and wish to
have uniformity. Main problem I see with 3102 is TLS and use of SDP for SRTP key exchange.
    Otherwise is a great product.
Please have your engineering team make this a high priority and try to provide firmware update
for all the 3102 hw versions.
    Thanks,
    Anz

    > does not have the support for SRTP.
This is contrary to what a lot of information out there says. Are you sure ?!
I would like to be able to use a gateway that can talk to a 3102 using SRTP and mini-certificate without using anothe 3102. There was a mention of this by your representative himself.
I am not really interested in your upcoming ATA that is similar to SPA 3102.
Are you going to replace all my SPA 3102 for free ?!!
Why can't you just do a firwmare upgrade for SPA 3102.
Please provide accurate and proper answers, that would be appreciated.

  • VPLS support for SIP-600 and 10GE-SPA

    Hello all,
    is SIP-600 (7600-SIP-600) with Cisco 1-port 10GE SPA V2 (SPA-1X10GE-L-V2) support VPLS ?
i see in datasheet SIP-600 support for VPLS but in 10GESPA datasheet there is no VPLS features support
    Thanks
    Regards,

    Hello,
    Yes, it should.
You could check Table 4-9 VPLS Feature Compatibility by SIP and SPA Combination:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/shared_port_adapters/configuration/7600series/76cfgsip.html#wp1270728
There are some restricition about H-VPLS on c7600/SIP, like it could be seen at the "VPLS Configuration Guidelines"
section of above link. But they are generic for SIP-600 itself:
    – H-VPLS with Q-in-Q edge—Requires a Cisco 7600 SIP-600 in the uplink, and any LAN port or Cisco 7600 SIP-600 on the downlink.
    - H-VPLS with MPLS edge requires either an OSM module, Cisco 7600 SIP-600, or Cisco 7600 SIP-400 in both the downlink (facing UPE) and uplink (MPLS core).
As for SPAs - restriction is about H-VPLS and FastEthernet one:
"Note: H-VPLS is not available on Fast Ethernet SPAs"

    Functionality
    Synchronous RFC
No support forRFMsthat use update task without COMMIT WORK
      No SAP GUI
      No callbacks
      No session handling
No RFCs to non-SAP systems (using RFC client or server libraries)
tRFC: Support for exactly-once delivery for one message/call
      Not all tRFC functionality
      No „bundling“ of multiple calls
With version 3.0, what are the current limitations??

    SAP Documentation states the following:
    Constraints
    Note the following restrictions:
    ·        Assignment is only guaranteed for transactional RFCs (tRFCs), that is, for messages with quality of service Exactly Once (EO).
    ·        There is no transactional context for more than one RFC call for each LUW (Logical Unit of Work).
    ·        Not provided: SAPGUI, callbacks, and qRFC (quality of service Exactly Once In Order (EOIO)).
    ·        RFC library clients (RFC SDK) are not supported.
    ·        The context in the called system is not kept open over multiple calls (calls are stateless; there is no session).
    ·        Only the payload of a received message is evaluated. Additional attachments are ignored and not forwarded.
    ·        The receiver adapter can only process valid RFC XML documents, for example, those generated by the sender adapter or by the SAP JCo.

  • Solution to Integration Scenario: RFC - XI - RFC

    Hi ,
Our company is implementing a PI project. The aim is to integrate a product into SAP via PI.
The product is written in C#, using a middle ware called 'ERPConnect' to call RFC from SAP system.
The requirement is that ALL integration processes should be triggered from C# via RFC calls.  The integration is synchronous.
So, if there is no PI, the thing is very simple. it is like RFC calls between two SAP systems. Say, ECC_A calls RFC from ECC_B
Now, when the process goes via PI, how to design it?
I guess, the receiver RFC adapter would be pointing to ECC_B in above example.
    My question is,
    1. How to define the sender RFC adapter?
    2. How to execute/test the scenario?
    Thanks,
    BR, Richard.

    Option1:
You can use WCF frame work in .net enviroment to send data to SAP PI as a SOAP call then receiver side you can use RFC adapter to connect ECC,SOAP and RFC both supports Syn communictaion.
    Option2:
Expose Function module and C# side code as a web services and call using PI, in this case both sides you have to use SOAP.
    Option3:
Existing process if both system supporting RFC calls then use RFC sender and receiver adapter .

  • Sync mail to rfc scenario

    Hi,
I've implemented a simple scenario in which incoming mail msg is "pushed" to R/3 by rfc (i.e., mail to rfc). is it possible to config this scenario so returned answer (from rfc call) will be send back to the original mail sender?
    Regards
    Uri

Mail and RFC both support sync behavior....the above mentioned scenario is very much possible...below should be the setting in your sender Mail channel:
    Transport Protocol: IMAP/ POP3
    Message Protocol: XIPAYLOAD
    Quality of Service: Best Effort.
Have a doubt on the working......Sender Mail channel picks up any new mail that comes in the mailbox....so if the response from RFC comes back to the mailbox it will be a new mail.....sender mail channel will pick it up....may error out.....let us wait for experts to comment if this scenario (sync mail) is really possible.
    Regards,
    Abhishek.
